We have an Interview with Former English Colony, our newly elected Ministry of Immigration and Internal Affairs
Heft- For the a) region, b) cabinet, and c) Ministry of Immigration and Internal Affairs specifically, what do you see as being the top priorities during this term?
Former English Colony- First off, why am I the one setting goals? >_>
a) Region:
1.) Recruitment
2.) University framework laid out
3.) Seeking out contact with other regions?
I'll stop there, as I've not bothered to lay out a program for the region, despite what some may think about the controllers of TNP.
b) Cabinet:
1.) Listen to Grosse
2.) Vote on pertinent Cabinet issues
3.) Do our jobs and show up to work
c) MoIIA:
1.) Recruitment
2.) Approving RAs
3.) Getting rid of those people that stop participating
Heft- Since you are the incoming MoIIA, and you will be the person directly responsible for handling Regional Assembly admittance, would you be willing to (re)admit Lexiconians? If so, under what, if any, conditions?
FEC-I plan to consult the PM and Cabinet on this issue. I'm not precisely sure what direction admittance of Lexiconians will take in the next 3 months. It's not entirely my decision to make.
In order to admit Lexiconians to the RA, I would have to feel comfortable their region wasn't actively working against TNP. I don't feel paranoid about this, more just cautious. I question why Lexiconians choose TNP (a previous enemy in their eyes) as a new place they plan to help to grow greater. I haven't seen TNP change as a result of its interaction with the Lexicon, so I wonder what *has* changed to make Lexiconians believe in the ideals of TNP and want to contribute to its future. I also wonder why Lexiconians do not focus their attentions on one of the other 5 feeder regions if they wish to get more involved in the politics of feeder regions. Somewhere where there is less history and... angst.
Heft- Are there any initiatives planned or in conception to increase RA membership and participation?
FEC-Well, I plan to telegram nations in TNP with invitations to join and participate. As to internal participation, I'm not sure what would be a good idea, we should perhaps work together as a Cabinet to organize some regional events.
Heft- What safeguards or protections are in place or are being put into place in order to help make sure that no one hostile to the region joins the RA?
FEC- I think one safeguard is simply talking to other people about it first. My first instinct is just to wave people on through, but that has to be tempered by knowing people don't necessarily have the best interests of TNP at heart when they apply to be an RA member. So I plan on poking Hers and Flem (as admin) and the Cabinet with regards to any concerns they have about new applicants. But I also will want a fairly fast turnaround, as I don't think people should be left waiting a very long time.
Heft- The Constitution gets stolen by some evil dog, and only five of the Cabinet positions escape its evil, slobbery jaws. Which five would you hope those were?
FEC-First, the exercise is to name all of them... PM, MoIIA, MoCE, MoC, MoJ, MoEA, MoAE, MoD wooo I did it. I'll assume that I get to keep Delegate a separate position. 5 Cabinet positions...
1) PM (appoints MoJ and MoD type positions)
2) MoIIA
3) MoEA
4) MoAE/CE
5) MoC
Heft- What was it that compelled you to run for MoIIA this time? You've been delegate, and would have had a good chance at winning any of the positions, so why this one?
FEC-Heh. Thanks for the confidence. Honestly, I was debating between MoEA and this position as ones I'd be interested in, simply because I haven't done them and I like the responsibilities associated with both. But knowing that Flemmers wanted to run for MoEA, I thought I could do a bang up job as MoIIA (fingers crossed).
Heft- The one thing about TNP that you would like to see changed more than anything else?
FEC-Easy answer: More activity
Harder answer.... a purpose. I've felt for awhile now that part of the problem for TNP (and all feeders and some other regions) is a lack of purpose. What drives us in this game we play? Purely for the human interaction? Then why do we have our politics? And what is the goal of our politics?
Heft- Any closing remarks?
FEC-JAL's sig is mine!
