Elections are here again! A hero to Lazarus’ inactivity problems will once again, commence.
It has slightly become tradition that elections in Lazarus are weeks delayed, but this time, the Interior Minister North Harmoneia had started elections in time, although still a few hours late.
The Elections will continue up until November 8, 2006.
North Harmoneia had also challenged the delegate, Killer Kitty, to elections, so as to bring life to the region of the undead. Voting is expected to start by the 5th of November, 2006. Assemblymen had also started to grab their own popcorns and soda, expecting to have an interesting watch.

Elections in Lazarus​

It was election time again as Lazarenes took to the polls to elect the Yaman council that rules the region. However this time North Harmoneia challenged the incumbent Delegate Killer Kitty for the Delegacy.

The candidates were all unopposed bar the Delegacy but it was still a good campaign with some good speeches and questions being posed and answered. However North Harmoneia won the Delegacy of Lazarus with the clear majority of votes and is joined by a Yaman Council consisting of:

Theme Change??
Lazarus had decided that the need for a theme change is a 'must' right now, considering that the 'undead' hasn't been working for long, although a few people did admit that they are fine with and prefer the 'undead' theme. The Assembly of Immortals is currently under heated debate and discussion about the said issue. The Security Minister Posul wanted to bring up something different, and radical, so he suggested something that is of a Revolutionary government. While on the other hand, some others suggested that only the theme and names be changed, and not the whole constitution.

Other Happenings
With elections done, Lazarenes had gone to their feet and are on the works. It is hoped that activity would continue to increase while the region is secured.
The delegate transition is going quite well, although a bit slow, it is expected that, by next week, everything will be fine. The Lazarenes would also like to thank and express their appreciation to those of you who are helping in the transition.
 
Lazarus Takes Warzone Africa! Troops Storm Through!

Grrrr! The Undead Walk!

This Morning saw the Undead Armies of Lazarus take Warzone Africa in a movement by a small selection of units from their armies they moved and seized the Warzone from the previous incumbent who had held the post for 8 days. The Security Minister Posul said:

"Well it wasn't the most difficult measure that I have ever taken, but it was something that shows that we are going to try and be an active military force, and though I doubt we shall hold the Warzone for long, we shall be using this as a basis for future missions."

The recent elections saw the Minister for Security move from the Foreign Office. The Lazarian Forces at this moment just ten members, but there are hopes that soon there shall be many more. The Minister for Security has hinted at a large advertising campaign for the Armed Forces of Lazarus.

There has been little movement from the armies of lazarus for many a month, leading some to believe that Lazarus had no armed force. However this has been dispelled as for the moment, there seems to be some progress on this front, we shall see whether this is merely a spark or whether it is a real long term improvement.

Theme Change
Although with a slow progress, the Theme Change is going on well, and is finally on its final stages. The Constitution has been re-written with pending name-changes, and is soon to be voted upon. The Assembly also decided to stick to the government system with the exception of a few changes and the names, as it doesn't necessarily hinder activity as evidenced by the current government.
The people are also currently voting for a new forum skin that would g with the new theme, which is the "Emerald Phoenix". We invite you all to visit us and have your opinion and vote counted.

Northern Chittowa as Public Interest Minister
As you have probably noticed, The PIM changed from Jargongrad to Northern Chittowa. The people were quite expecting Jargongrad to run for a re-election but it seems that he hadn't appeared and is quite uninterested. Northern Chittowa then grabbed the opportunity of serving Lazarus by running for the deserted position.

Alliance with The Rejected Realms
Currently, an alliance is being negotiated between the The Rejected Realms and Lazarus. It has long been believed that TRR and Lazarus belong together, as they share the same burden. But it is only now, that an official alliance will be formed between the two. The treaty is now at vote in Lazarus, and Kandarin has also expressed his desire to sign the said treaty.

Other Happenings
We would also like to announce the openings of new consulates such as Cingeta, Gatesville, Catlandatopia, and the Founderless Regions Alliance.

Alliances For Lazarus​


Lazarus has agreed two new alliances with regions recently with treaties being signed with The Rejected Realms and the forthcoming one with Lone Wolves United.

Kandarin celebrates another ejection and addition to his realm

The alliance with The Rejected Realms has been completed and signed upon by both sides. Kandarin signed the treaty earlier on this month describing it as "good" and Lazarus agreed passing it unaminously.

So a great event for all sides and may Lazarus continue to advance up the world stage.

New King in Lazarus!

This week has seen major change in the region of Lazarus.  On the 2nd of February, Queen Harmoneia stated it was her intention to abdicate the throne, stating that her once dormant defender itch had become active once again.  ‘It has been quite a while and it's been my second time as Delegate, but we all know, that everything comes to an end, so would my term… I do not want the region to lay dormant because of my RL, I want someone who has more time to devote to Lazarus. Another is, I miss defending, and I'm having a defender itch again, so, sorry about that.’

This day of great sadness at the ‘passing on’ of a great Queen was also a day of great joy as we welcomed to the throne her successor, the former Regent Dezzland.  Dezzland, who has been a very active and vocal member of the Lazarus community since joining in June of last year, is also very active within Great Britain and Ireland and The West Pacific, performing the tasks of a citizen and a senator respectively.

Dezzland has since declared himself extremely proud at the opportunity to lead the Lazarus into a new dawn, stating his belief that despite being so young in regards to Nationstates politics, he has ‘complete confidence in the Chamber and Council.’

In the midst of this change, elections are currently being held in order to determine the next High Chamber of Lazarus.  So far it has been a very active election period, with all positions open for election.

Standing for the Steward of Emerald City, Dipes has announced his intent to run again.  During his time as Steward, he has tried to reorganised a once neglected sector of the region.  His plans for next term include the explusion of inactive Council members.

Northern Chittowa and Emperor Matthuis have both decided to stand for the position of Advocate of Foreign Enticement.  This has led to each providing a detailed manifesto in which a number of different ideas have been stated.  Most notably, both have stated their intent to further review Lazarus’s current allies, which still include the new dead region of Q102.  Emperor Matthuisis early favourite for this position however due to his performance since being elected to that position last elections.

For Guardian of the Realm two well known and experienced members have decided to stand to replace the current minister Posul, who has decided against running for another term.  Due to both candidates having a great deal of experience on the battlefield, it is hoped that whoever wins will be able to transform the fortunes of the so far unlucky Emerald Legion.

Finally we have the Director of Public Relations, once again being challenged by Northern Chittowa and Emperor Matthuis.  Northern Chittowa, the current DoPR is the favourite to retain his position and has stated his aim to bring more news to Lazarus shores, as well as to bring in new players as well.

Lazarus was sorry to see its Steward of Emerald City, Dipes, resign and we all wish him the best of luck in real life. In better news we welcome the nations of: Sotaki unsia, Drop Your Pants, Wagdog, Seasons and Ages and Monumental Proportions to the Council of Emerald City. Lazarus has also recently been discussing plans to form a Coalition led by Lazarus to help smaller regions in the game. There has been some fierce debate on the issue and the topic can be found here. King Dezzland has also begun to inject some activity into the ministries in this thread.


The Emerald Legion

There has also been some much welcome activity in The Emerald Legion with our Legionaires taking part in missions in Osgiliath Ruins, Texas Rangers, Illuminati and the Holy Land.


Foreign Affairs

Lazarus is pleased to have opened to have opened an Embassy with The East Pacific and The Great Land of the Moon. Also we have gained Consulates with Gay, England, Taijitu and Hyrule.

Invaders in Lazarus; Multi-Raider Region Coalition Repelled!
In a prolonged siege led by the invader general Imperus Shakka, and believed to have been abetted by elements of the now-defunct Nomads terrorist raider group, Lazarus withstood attack by those believed bent on colonizing the region yet again. This invasion was unique in that it finally cleared away the Regional Message Board spam for days on end, some of the choicer exchanges being available here, and evidence of the generally civilized conduct of the invasion barring a few individuals who need not be named. The invasion drove Dezzland's endorsement count to over 150; historically, the highest endorsement count Lazarus has ever seen.

New Role Play, Quiz Section; Lazarus Forum Gets a Jump Start
After months of intermittent but serious complaint about the inactivity of Lazarene role-play, something was at last done to redress the issue. First, a new sub-forum dedicated to RP and Creative Writing was created, featuring the respective sections.
Also, a new [url]http://z13.invisionfree.com/lazarus/index....post&p=12202985]Lazarene[/url] Map[/URL] was created by High King Addarow, so that players have a superb resource for both on-site and off RP involving their nations. The details, such as islets, rivers, terrain and borders are particularly superb; and congratulations to Addarow are indeed in order.

Secrets Revealed! Documents surrounding the Lazarene Tyranny revealed to the public!
After the recent shutdown of the Liberalia regional forum, formerly classified documents regarding his involvement in the February 2006 invasion spearheaded by United Luckians have come to light. These only further implicate the Liberalia of that time in the usurpation of Lazarene sovereignty known as the "Lazarene Tyranny", guilt which had long been suspected by astute Lazarenes; although given the apparent implosion of old Liberalia due to certain actions by its founder, and the statements of certain members of New Liberalia, the possible resumption of relations between Lazarus and Liberalia in some capacity cannot be entirely ruled out anymore. Much work, however, will remain to be done for that to happen; not least of which including possible passage by Liberalia of a locally-proposed Act of Liability apologizing for the invasion and coup, which it is thought would do much to ease remaining interregional tensions should it overcome remaining resistance by some elements within the Liberalian regional government and pass into regional law.

A Friend Bids Farewell...
After months of crucial involvement in bringing activity to Lazarus, not least of which being to occasion the creation of a new a new sub-forum dedicated to roleplay and creative writing, as well as drawing a new Lazarene Map, High King Addarow has resigned his offices and announced his retirement from NationStates for the foreseeable future. The region offers it's deepest sadness at losing so valued and talented a member, as well as above all it's best wishes for success in the wider world beyond NationStates. As before, and in greater degree still, congratulations to Addarow are indeed in order for all that was done during his brief return.

Anniversary of the Mandate!
This month, Mandate 5.0 entered its second year of operation as the Lazarene Constitution; prompting much jubilation throughout the region at the success of this government and the remarkable stability it has brought compared to prior Lazarene constitutions. Congratulations are due to all who were involved in its creation, but especially so Viscountess and twice former-Queen North Harmoneia; without whom it would not have been drafted at all. Long may be the Age of the Fifth Mandate!

Elections in Lazarus!

August 12th marked the beginning of a new term and a new set of government officers within the High Chamber, a full five days after the election should have ended. Due to some fierce summer inactivity caused by sunshine, vacations, and a surprising number of faulty internet connections for members of the Council of Emerald City, nominations and campaigning came to a standstill. After a few days of waiting around and some behind-the-scenes pushing and prodding, a complete selection of nominees was finalized, campaigning began in earnest, and the Council voted.

The new High Chamber is as follows:

Challenge to the Delegacy

As many of you are already aware, King Dezzland recently publicly announced that we had discovered a traitor in our midst in Lazarus.

Today, at 5:30 PM Pacific Standard Time, I altered the Lazarene World Fact Book Entry to urge all UN Nations in Lazarus to withdraw endorsements of the nation, Bakacka. Known on our forums as Balacka, their is overwhelming evidence to conclude that he is a spy sent from a raider organization known as the Eastern Fringe. The Eastern Fringe has been plotting a hostile take over of Lazarus. This conflicts DIRECTLY with Balacka's duties as a Council member. And since he did not resign or alert me of this conflict, I can only assume that he is in fact a spy and a traitor. Lazarus sends her thanks to Gatesville and The West Pacific for providing an endorsement buffer while we drive a turncoat from our region.

We have not heard an official response from either Bakacka/Balacka or the Eastern Fringe concerning this announcement, but nobody here in Lazarus is really holding their breath in anticipation either. Again, we thank Gatesville and The West Pacific for their aid during this pathetic invasion attempt.

Back at the end of October, the Steward of Emerald City and Advocate of Foreign Enticement, Aisli, issued a challenge to King Dezzland concerning his position as delegate. Citing his inactivity and poor leadership skills during the entire Emperor Matthius/The North Pacific/The Rejected Realms chaos, Aisli called on the rest of the Council of Emerald City to help her in replacing Dezzland in the position of delegate for the benefit of the region, stating that "new blood is needed to revitalize our region, and I am even willing to offer up my own blood if necessary to save our region from stagnancy and internal governmental strife."

Unbeknownst to the outside NationStates world and even to those not directly involved, Aisli's challenge to the delegacy was actually part of a carefully structured secret plot to have suspected traitors in our midst show their true colors. In private discussions, Dezzland was the mastermind behind the operation, saying, “As for Balacka, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for using this to our advantage? I was thinking a false election.” Aisli quickly jumped on the idea by saying, “I'm all for the fake challenge and election idea. I think that could be marvellously entertaining.” And with that, the plot was hatched.

Operation Gordius swiftly went into action. Aisli posted her “challenge”, Council members “debated” the merits of Dezzland’s kingship and leadership abilities, and eventually Aisli was “elected” as the new Queen of Lazarus.

Recently, Aisli issued a public statement revealing that she is not, in fact, the delegate of Lazarus.

I would like to set the record straight by announcing publicly that I am not and never have been the delegate of this region. My challenge to the delegacy was, in fact, a sham, as were the resulting elections. My challenge to the delegacy was part of a carefully orchestrated plan created by Dezzland and other select members of the High Chamber and the Council of Emerald City as a method of flushing and revealing the traitors in our midst.

I apologize to anyone confused or hurt by this revelation. Thank you for all of your patience, and thank you to those involved in this intrigue for helping me successfully become the Lazarene "Queen".

Hopefully now that everything is out in the open, things in Lazarus can get back to normal and members can discuss more interesting things, like Dezzland’s endless booze supply or Aisli’s sexy muffiness, instead of how the two both want to be delegate. :)

Delayed Elections Shake Up Lazarene Government
The quarterly elections of the Lazarence Government and High Chamber, due to begin on November 1st were delayed by twenty (20) days due to Operation Gordius, in which known invaders and spies were outed and denounced. Despite this delay the November Elections were some of the most successful of recent times, with every position being contested.

The Lazarene High Chamber consists of two appointed positions, the King, and the Seneschal. The remaining High Chamber, and Lazarene Government are elected by the Council of Emerald City. The positions up for grabs were:
  • Steward of Emerald City
    Guardian of the Realm
    Advocate of Foreign Enticement
    Director of Public Relations
Director of Public Relations was the least contested of the positions, with four Councilors nominated, however only two accepting. Starlav, the incumbent, refused his nomination, as did recently appointed Countess North Harmoneia citing respect for other candidates and a wish to run for other positions as her reasons. This left the most popular candidate (and eventual winner) Dipes, who had five nominations after coming out of retirement to run a seemingly uncontested race. However due to the wish for democratic legitimacy Phil the Wonder Tortoise stepped up to the plate to continue his long time entrance in Lazarene elections. Dipes eventually won the position in a 11 - 1 vote.

Guardian of the Realm was eventually fought between two experienced players and former holders of the position, incumbent No State At All and former Delegate Killer Kitty. Viscount Spectacor declined his nominations, and Starlav dropped out of the race citing time restrictions. The only other nominee Anmessa failed to accept their nomination. Despite claiming

No State still cowered in fear at the sound of Killer Kitty's jackboots. In this closely fought contest the incumbent No State At All won by an 8 - 4 vote.

Advocate of Foreign Enticement was hotly contested, with the two main contenders Aisli and Outer Kharkistania both receiving four nominations. Phil the Wonder Tortoise was also placed on the ballot for this contest. In her platform Aisli cited previous hard work throughout the region and within the department (as the incumbent to the position), however her most persuasive argument by far rested on the premis

Aisli eventually won the contest by an 8 - 2 - 2 vote from Khark and Phil.

Steward of Emerald City was once more contested by two very experienced players within the region. Both candidates had previously held the position, the incumbent Aisli and Countess North Harmoneia. Despite praising the incumbent, North Harmoneia portrayed her frustration with the lack of productivity from the department:

Aisli's response was to rest on her previous terms in the office and hope that regional satisfaction would be enough to win the election. Unfortunately this was not enough for the electorate as Countess North Harmoneia won in a landslide by an 11 - 1 vote.

The Council of Emerald City

Things have been chugging along at a rather decent pace over the past month or so here in Lazarus. The most significant aspect of forum life has been the busyness of the Council of Emerald City. In the past two months, the Council has passed two new resolutions and is currently debating a third and fourth.

The Emerald Inquisition

Back at the beginning of November, the Council voted to create a judiciary body for Lazarus. Until recently, Lazarus has not had a real need for a judiciary body, but after the hassle of dealing with the forum destroyer Addarow off and on throughout 2007, the Council decided that a judiciary was necessary to help deal with these sort of NationStates players. North Harmoneia originally proposed the idea for a judiciary court. Eventually, we fine-tuned the proposal around the end of November, but it wasn't until early December that we all had decided upon a name for our judiciary and could bring the resolution to a vote. Thus, the Emerald Inquistion was created with 94% in favor and 6% against.

The Courts of Justice

Shortly after the passing of the Emerald Inquisition, Carlopia proposed voiding the Emerald Inquisition and instead raised the issue of creating a more permanent court system for Lazarus: "What I suggest instead is that the Judiciary become an official arm of Lazarus in a permanent way. Instead of a part time Judiciary we should instigate a full time Judiciary." Citing the need for a Lord Justice to moderate over the courts, Carlopia stated, "The Courts shall be responsible for the interpretation of law and handling of matters deemed criminal in Lazarene law, excluding impeachment. It shall be the responsibility of the Lord Justice of Lazarus to interpret the law whenever called upon or they deem it neccessary to settle a dispute, and their decision shall become binding precedent, unless overturned or made irrelivant by a subsequent piece of legislation...Not sure how full this idea is, but I like it for the most part because it gives a fixed head of the Judiciary who does have a purpose in interpreting and applying the law constantly (which would therefore make the LJ an expert in the law) while maintaining some neutrality." The Council debated the merits of this new piece of legislation throughout most of December before deciding to bring the matter to a vote. No one, unfortunately, was really around due to the holidays when the vote was taken, so it passed unanimously thanks to three voters.

Lord Justice

Everyone seems to love the Courts of Justice, however. King Dezzland appointed Starlav (who now goes by Disaster & Triumph) as the Lord Justice at the end of December, and we are glad to have the Courts in his capable hands. In turn, Disaster & Triumph, appointed Joshua, Carlopia, and Pope Lexus X to be the jurors of the Law Commission. Together, the four of them are working to create some law reforms and new pieces of legislation to introduce to the Council.

Current Council Debate

Currently, there has been a lot of debate within the Council over two newly proposed pieces of legislation - the Anti-Spamming Act of 2008 and the Lazarene Slander Act. The Anti-Spamming Act has been shelved for the meantime, probably until after the Lazarene Slander Act comes to a vote, which should hopefully be fairly soon.

At the moment, things are topsy-turvy in Lazarus due to the start of February High Chamber Elections and the recent retirement of King Dezzland. But more on that stuff next time!

Invasions! Oh My!

As the world of NationStates is most likely already aware, Lazarus was recently invaded back in mid-April. A group of several raider regions decided, due to a grudge they harbored against the Founderless Regions Alliance, that Lazarus would be the perfect place to use as an example of the FRA's inability to stop raiders from being successful. The invasion was led by Bromannikha of The Last Kingdom, who went under the name of -Hellraiser-, and was assisted by other raiding groups, including The Black Hawks, Great Britain and Ireland, The Black Devil Militia, and Kodiak among others. Lazarus rallied and did her best to withstand this assault, but the invaders ended up sucessfully overthrowing Northen Chittowa's delegacy by a mere seven endorsements. Bromannikha/-Hellraiser- ceded the delegacy back to Northern Chittowa by the end of the next day, which was just as well because Northern Chittowa was set to reclaim it anyway that evening due to a new surge of endorsements from Lazarene allies. Most Lazarenes don't fully understand the cause for the attack; Northern Chittowa is part of the FRA, but Lazarus as a region is not, so we didn't really see what provoked the invasion. All in all, it was a rather exciting and random attack, and all Lazarenes are glad it ended so easily without any lasting damage to the region.

In response to the invasion, I have three editorials for perusal. The first is from our mighty King, Northern Chittowa.

The recent invasion has made me think about certain things.  Firstly, am I really that hated in NS today that people from all over wish to come and remove me from my seat!  The issue at hand was made even more confusing due to the invaders changing their stories every time someone questioned their motives, or even put them to sleep in a debate.

For instance, the original reason Brom and his merry men invaded were to ‘Bring activity to Lazarus’.  Now, as he was a member of Lazarus in the past and a Council member he could have quite easily challenged me to the delegate’s seat as the Mandate states.  It certainly gained a few chuckles from the Council when we found out he had placed his own region under marshal law due to inactivity!

When he was confronted with this it then became a personal vendetta against me!  He called me ‘Negative Chittowhat?’ Which I’m sorry, but it’s hardly the worse name I have been called nor is it the most imaginative…

But then he changed his reasoning once more!  He stated that it was a vendetta against the FRA!  But what is even funnier is that he believes about the so called ‘FRA Conspiracy’ and it is their goal to ‘control the feeders!!’

Stranger still is that the FRA have no links to Lazarus, apart from myself being the King of Lazarus and a co-founder of the FRA.  Since when that means they are one of the same I have no idea, but in Broms world, it does!

Before he left, Brom stated some words which will forever be with me…

‘Don’t blink!’

Now, I’ve blinked quite a few times since then, as I’m sure has everyone else…Nothings happened yet, but who knows…One day it might, so be careful;)

The next editorial comes from Dezzland, our former King.

The other day I received a odd telegram. The message was sent by a nation called Darkrai. It read, "Sorry about your region". Why this nation chose to contact me, I don't know. I had not been vocal on the RMB and had no WA status. It reminded me of a twelve year old who runs home to his mother and says, "Look mommy, look! I got an 'F' on my report card".

Nevertheless, my interest had been spurred and I replied to the telegram. My question was simple, "Why are you sorry?" Darkrai then informed me that Lazarus had not been the target of the invasion, but the Founderless Region Alliance. Thinking my memory had been vaporized by the party I had been to the night before, I quickly visited the FRA forums and confirmed that Lazarus was not a member.

This I found puzzling. Lazarus was not an FRA member AND the invasion targeted the FRA. I assumed the logic behind this was so brilliant that my simple mind just couldn't grasp it so my questions continued.

"What did you accomplish?" I asked Darkrai. The answer? This invasion sent a message to defenders: you can't stop us! Again, the genius of this plan alluded me. I thought Lazarus was allied with the LWU, a raider organization. I had also thought that the Lazarene Minister of Defense was a raider. But if there's one thing Darkrai had taught me, it's that I really didn't know much about the game.

Bromansjdnia (or however the hell you spell it) and Darkrai only set out to send defenders a message. I have since learned this message to be:

WE ARE INCAPABLE!

but I fear that it was drowned out by the sound of their own applause.

And finally, I have an editorial from Bromannikha himself in which he explains the invader's side of this invasion.

Since the invasion of Lazarus, many people have asked me the same question: "Why the hell did you do that?" I've answered the question in several ways, leading some to believe that these inconsistencies mean that it was just a random raid, an idiotic venture holding no particular importance or meaning.

I can assure you, all the reasons I have given are true.

So let's look at all my reasons:
1. For activity-- NS has been in need of some large-scale, international activity since the TNP ordeal. No one else has tried to do much of anything about it, so a large raid might not be such a bad thing. On another level, Lazarus needed a shake-up; it's leaders needed to notice that the region was in dire need of change (which I will further outline later). But in the very least, the invasion shook things up. Does anyone not want activity?

2. For invader unity-- I'm not quite sure when the last time was when I saw so many invader groups unite in a single effort. Granted, this invasion didn't involve as many nations as some of the larger raids in NS history, but it did include many more regions than I have ever seen. While invaders have long outnumbered defenders, the fenders do have an advantage on us raiders: unity. Organization is key when trying to commit yourself to an effort. Defenders are noted for their quick response and unified front against the much-larger invaders. The invasion of Lazarus was, in some way, an effort to unite some invaders which may not have necessarily ever cooperated in such a way.

3. For an attack on the FRA-- And here's the part will some of you will stop reading; here's the part where my ethical appeal will be destroyed in many eyes. However, it's a reason I've given so I'm obligated (and greatly obliged) to explain it.
Northern-Chittowa is FRA. He doesn't separate himself from the defender organization. He is the Speaker of the Assembly of the FRA, and practices defender tendencies/policies in nearly every military situation. He claims that "Lazarus is allied with invaders". While that may be true, Northern-Chittowa is not [allied with invaders]. The FRA has been gaining more and more power through stretching its policy of defending to ever greater and greater heights. But with NC on his "throne", Lazarus will be ever oppressed.

So there are my reasons. I've given them all prior to now, so they should come as no surprise.

Lazarus was never put in harm's way during the invasion. I would have never attempted it if Laz were to suffer any harm. On the positive side, tons of activity was created (see! invasions aren't so bad!). So even though we withdrew after only a day atop the delegacy (and yes, we did withdraw; we weren't forced out by any means), at least we weren't corrupted in doing so. Goodnight, NC!

Election Fever!

Currently in Lazarus, we are voting for our new High Chamber. Plots, our current Steward, opened elections on May 5th, and they've been going very well so far. For the position of Steward of Emerald City, we have Spectator (a former King and Guardian of the Realm) and Eiturnia (a lovable newcomer) running. The Advocate of Foreign Enticement position is being fought over by Disaster & Triumph (formerly known as Starlav) and Thandryn (possibly our youngest and most Irish member on the forum). Guardian of the Realm is a shoo-in for Killer Kitty, as he's the only one vying for the position; this also holds true for Drop Your Pants and the position of Director of Public Relations. Naturally, poor Abstain is doing his best to steal every position available, but try as he might, we all doubt he'll be successful. :P

North Harmonia issued a challenge to the Delegacy not too long ago, so CEC members are also voting for a new Monarch. Either candidate will be an excellent choice for the region, as North Harmoneia has been Queen several times before already, and as Northern Chittowa has been doing a great job as King so far. Voting ends on May 12th.

New Cabinet
Well a new cabinet and a few new faces (namely me) get ready to start their term in the Laz government. There was a flurry of activity for the voting, the normal crazed speeches about making the world a better place……and people generally having a good time. There was a hard pitched battle between the tag team of Drop Your Pants and Killer Kitty and Team Abstain but in the end the victors were DYP and KK. So without any more delay here is the new cabinet:

Just before elections there was a surprise announcement from North Harmoneia:

Yes, I challenge the King to elections. Not much drama, I just want to give it a shot again.  I thought I'd bring more flavor to the upcoming elections, and so here it goes, a challenge. Nothing against NC, just thought this might spark a little bit more interest and life into the forum.  Don't get me wrong, though. I want the position and will work hard if I get it once again. Although if I lose, I'm sure NC wouldn't do a bad job either.  So yea, I'll wait for plots to give the "let the campaigning begin." signal

Firstly, I’m not going to lie. Since I have become King, I haven’t done much. I failed to prevent an invasion despite my efforts, I have failed to bring in new blood and I have failed to continue the life which Dezz brought to Lazarus. For those reasons alone would be enough for me to fall on my sword and step down, but I have not and this challenge was expected.

I could make reasons for ever and a day about why I haven’t done this or that, but the main reason is that I no longer have the energy for NS. I have done my part mostly, I built a region up to become quite powerful in the world, I helped found the primary defender organization and I gave my all to a number of different positions in a number of different regions.

If I had become King earlier on in my NS life, when I first came here, perhaps things would have been different, but alas, it weren’t to be. Today, I'm quite happy to stand in the background giving my advice when it’s needed.

I can say that more people followed the third question very closely. After the elections we had a few changes
