Electoral Commissioners!!

not sure if Deikura is running for another term or not, if so they are one of the Electoral Commissioners under the constitution!!

We have the option to nominate Electoral Commisioners should the PM and MoIIA intend to run for another office in the upcoming election!!

We need a minimum of 1 and no more than 2 commissioners!! If Deikura is not running for office I'd be happy for here to oversee the elections with someone who is not going to run for office!!

If any of the present cabonet are not runnign in this election and is interested in being a commissioner, please let me know!!

Section 1: Election Commissioners
The Election process shall be organized and overseen for each election cycle by one or more Election Commissioners who shall be determined as follows:
A - Unless the outgoing incumbent serving as Prime Minister plans to be a candidate for election to any office in the Cabinet, including the UN Delegate, or for Speaker of the Regional Assembly in that election cycle, the outgoing Prime Minister shall serve as an Election Commissioner.
B - Unless the outgoing incumbent serving as Minister of Immigration and Internal Affairs plans to be a candidate for election to any office in the Cabinet, including the UN Delegate, or for Speaker of the Regional Assembly in that election cycle, the outgoing Minister of Immigration and Internal Affairs shall serve as an Election Commissioner.
C - In the event either or both the Prime Minister and the Minister of Immigration and Internal Affairs intend to be candidates for election, then the Prime Minister and the Minister of Immigration and Internal Affairs shall designate, with the consent of a majority of the remaining Cabinet Ministers, not less than one nor more than two persons to serve as Election Commissioners for that election cycle. Each designee shall declare their intention not to be a candidate for election during that election cycle to any office and shall have previously served in office as an elected UN Delegate, as Prime Minister, as an elected Cabinet Minister, as Speaker of the Regional Assembly, or as a Justice of The Court of The North Pacific.
D- The designation of Election Commissioners shall be completed not less than 15 days prior to the beginning of the voting period for elections as designated in Section 2.
E - The Election Commissioners may request the ability to view IP addresses of Nations, or request the assistance of the off-site forum administrators, during this period to verify votes.

Copied from Schnauzer's post for your lot's benefit.

BTW, I will serve as comissioner ONLY if you guys can't think of anyone else. I've done it before, it's a pain in the arse, a thankless job, and there's always the fear of someone shouting at you for screwing up.

Anyway, I've got "The Voting Booth" set up for the private votes, and will provide the comissioners with the password when you lot decide who they are.

Edit: TVB is set up as a moderator in all election forums, and has all the usual powers except that of editing posts, for security reasons. If you really need to edit someone's post, have a Global Mod do it so I can track down who it was. Not that I don't trust you lot (I do), just that I'd like to be able to account for any changes made to ballots.

I don't think the electoral commissioners need to be cabinet members, just approved by cabinet!! That said, I would like to second Eras' nomination as a commissioner!!

I'd volunteer, but Hersfold scared me off. ;)

I'd support Eras. If you can't find someone else other than Hersfold, I can do it.

Still waiting on Deikura as, according to the constitution, the outgoing MoIIA is to be one of the electoral commissioners if they are not running for office at the upcoming election!!

If Deikura is unwilling or is running for office then I am fine with Heft and Eras acting as Electoral Commissioners!!

Give me a day or three. I'm still deciding if I'm running for an office.

I do assure you though, it's not MoIIA. :D

*misses having spam fests with ^*

Anyways, back on topic, I was going to volunteer as an Election Commissioner, however we seem to have more candidates for that than we will for government positions.

True enough.

Since DD isn't able to run this time, I'm going for A&E. Sooo... I can't be a commissioner.

OK, if there are no objections Eras and Heft will be the Electoral Commissioners!! I'll ask them to open nominations shortly so post any objections now!!

Nominations begin on the 22, I think.

And BTW, I'm actually going to run, so I couldn't be a comissioner anyway.

OK, as there are no objections, I ask Heft and Erastide to take on the role of Electoral Commissioner for the upcoming elections!! Thank you both for taking on the role!!

I like that you asked and decided in the same post. Does someone want to tell me what I'm supposed to do for this... (or at least point me at the right section of our Constitution)
That was the point of my previous post. ;)

Seeing as you both nominated yourselves I did not forsee you dclining the invitation!! If you do not want to take on the role, we will find someone else!! My apologies for the assumption, I did not read my post over before clicking on submit!! :P

If you do want to take on the role, speak to Hersfold about access to "The voting Booth" and refer to the eelction subforum where the timeline for the elections has been posted, albeit in general terms!!

Incidentally, the posting of intention to run for office begins on the 22nd. It's the first 7 days of the 10 days preceeding the election start.
