Court Bulletin Board & General Information

As discussed in the Court's request for feedback from the public, the Court has now implemented a list of people who are available to serve as Temporary Hearing Officers. The list is intended to replace the informal shortlist that previous Courts have operated with, and open up an avenue for...

Availability for Temporary Hearing Officer Status

Whenever a Justice is unavailable, the Court shall appoint a Temporary Hearing Officer (THO). This list contains people willing to serve, with relevant prior experience, and notes whether they are currently available to serve as THO. While the list is intended to give future Courts a shortlist...

@Eluvatar is the list agreeable to you?

    [Private] KEKISTON, GrandEngland indictment

Yeah, I am in communication with prosecution and defense. I hope to have a schedule soon.

    Against for above reason.

    [Private] Court reforms

Sorry about the delay. I got distracted by other things. My list is compiled with two origins. The Bar Roster, and former Justices and Hearing Officers. The latter I used only those who had voted on rulings since 2020, retain citizenship, and not been convicted within the last year. Experience...

    Discussion: Legal Reforms

As CJ I have been on a slow burn to see what stuff can be done from the court's perspective. One of the major things that can't be done by the court but that I want to bring up here, is the removal of the court (and possibly delegate) from the handling of indictments. We have a Bar Association...

The North Pacific v. KEKISTON, GrandEngland

The defendants have not reacted to the Court's summons. Their plea will be noted as not guilty. As neither defendant has chosen a defense counsel it falls to the Court to appoint their defense. The Court asked @Dreadton who will serve as counsel for both defendants.

    [Private] KEKISTON, GrandEngland indictment

Sanctaria declined due to time constraints. Dreadton is able and willing.

    [Private] KEKISTON, GrandEngland indictment

Will ask Sanctaria, Dreadton, Comfed, Gorundu, in that order.

The North Pacific v. KEKISTON, GrandEngland

We don't have jurors, we have Justices. If you apply for Citizenship you can run for Justice in the next Judicial election. Until then, as you are not involved in this case, I will request that you do not disturb the order of the Court.

    [Private] KEKISTON, GrandEngland indictment

No acknowledgement of the indictment from the indicted nations, so no defense to work with so far. I will send them a last TG but otherwise their plea will be noted as "not guilty", and the Court has to assign their defense counsel. If you have suggestions I would love to hear it. Myself I lean...

[SC - missed quorum] The Great Jihad for National Sovereignty

Good Lord, what a load of rubbish. Quorum raiding is tool in the toolbox, not some divine mandate. Against.

    [Private] Court reforms

With the feedback to the public list of THOs being so uniformly positive, I would implement it over the weekend if you consent, @Eluvatar . I would populate the initial list with people who have served as Justice and members of the Bar, so there are a decent number of people I will have to...

    [Feedback] Prosecutor discretion

Yes. The difference being that in those mentioned instances, the prosecution hasn't made an assessment of the evidence and decided the prosecution's case is too weak to continue. I imagine a process alike 22, where a prosecutor believes that the evidence is too weak and files to drop the case...

    [Feedback] Prosecutor discretion

The Court has discussed codifying prosecutor discretion n the Court Procedures. This is not something that should be done lightly, as one can easily see from adverse results in real life, and as such the Court invites public feedback on the topic. Our system of open submission of indictments...

    [Feedback] Voluntary recusal for absence

It has been an unspoken tradition that Justices who are functionally absent have been labelled as ‘abstaining’ on R4Rs. That has not been necessary while I have been on the Court, but one needs only to go back in the Rulings Registry to see that absence without temporary replacement has been a...
