The idea's to limit what players can do, and yes, it would take a very long time to travel between systems. I don't want players appearing out of nowhere and attacking planets without warning, or crashing into planets.

I'm assuming space travel in this universe is based on hyperjumps? Let's say, you can hyperjump between star systems, but not within star systems, because gravity has disastrous effects on the hyperjump method?

Dalvius, as you know, there are many, many sci-fi settings out there, ranging from simple handvium FTL travel to hyperdrives, to hyperjumps, etc. etc. Can you clue us in on what the sci-fi technology is like? What novel/show is the RP's technology closest to?
