I confess to not having kept abreast of affairs, but I'd like to know: Have the NPIA and NPA been renamed, or is the generic wording of the new version chosen in anticipation of future renaming of these organizations?
I know I'm not the only one who has had to ask what the Lower Officials actually do, so giving them a more self-explanatory name is good. I'll vote for it.
(Actually, if we have to rename it to something that abbreviates to CLO, the coolest choice would doubtlessly be the Council of Lascivious...
I thought this was brilliant when I first read it, but GBM brings up a very critical point: We don't want to give the delegate even indirect influence on the nomination process.
Perhaps this problem could be fixed by making the endorsement one of rank? A candidate would have to move into the...
Oh come, now. I know membership is way down from what it was in the pre-NS2 halcyon days (something like 8000 nations and 1000 UN), but we've got more than 2.5 nations. :P
(What is a half nation anyway?)
Ermarian is ranked 14th in the region and 27th in the world for Most Influential.
That looks great until you realize that half the people who post here regularly are even better than this. The top world ranking today is a TNP Who's Who.
Congratulations to the Pirate Mum! =D
Seems like I'm doing this once every quarter now. I'll try to keep my active status longer this time. <_<
TNP and WA nation: Ermarian
I, Ermarian, as the leader of The North Pacific nation of Ermarian, pledge loyalty to the Constitution, Bill of Rights and Laws of The North Pacific Region, and...
Three more!
I managed to gain 11 (and lose one to attrition) in the past nine hours, so I'll probably be there by tomorrow morning. (And that by endorsing only thirty additional nations.)
Edit:
Got eighty. I'm also a "Truckler", which if I remember correctly is better than Vassal. What do I...
On an off-topic note, each time I read "M.O.D.S." I wonder what it stands for. Massively Overworked Deputy Sods?
Personally I just call them "mods". :P
Er.
That ramble clearly shows that I should not be touching a keyboard at 3 AM.
Could have been worse. Last time I posted that late, I was participating in a discussion of philosophy and ended up being temporarily banned.
This is ironic. I visited this forum for the express purpose of sharing some historical data I just unearthed (also known as "blowing your own horn") and hey look! I don't even need to make a new topic.
I already know when my first nation ever was founded (December 29, 2003), and my more recent...
See what I mean about TSP? I've overlooked it entirely. Now that you mention the list, "Caer Rialis" strikes a bell - but only because he was in power when I first took an interest in feeder affairs. Incidentally, it is pure chance that I went to TNP then; it was the only one in open conflict at...
Actually, it is helpful to legally define the status of the incumbent outgoing delegate and that of the delegate-elect, if only to keep the region defensible during the interregnum.
Of course, we have witnessed that a formal definition is not essential for that, since at least one threat was...
I've always viewed it as a bit of a Cold War structure.
The North and West pacific seem somewhat like the US, prosperous, nominally democratic and rather okay, if a bit corrupt and too fond of themselves (sorry, can only speak for the North and myself there). The East and the seem a bit more...
Crap, I missed that ranking; and it's one of the ones I've been waiting for for months.
(In other news, I need to figure out how to get my IT sector back. I've been deregulating the technology market and funding education for freaking ever now, but I'm still stuck with Book Publishing.)
"Members of the Council shall be responsible for maintaining an endorsement level and influence level consistent with laws concerning endorsement and influence levels."
-> "They are responsible for complying with the law." Does this sound redundant to anyone, or could it be formulated in a way...
It is no secret that NationStates politics are a joke. Not an intentional one either. We're plainly ridiculous.
But with the US presidential campaigns first entering "negative", sliding through "character attacks" and now straight down to "mud-slinging", I keep wondering whether we are all that...
Well, to be fair, influence has become an alternative reason. However, the point remains - gathering power makes you a potential threat to the incumbent government.
I concur that we may be too harsh with newcomers. The present situation (ie. a state of war) warrants a tight security, but you...
