    Flemingovia for delegate

Let's be honest, when there isn't a huge pool of players, government controversy keeps regions active. That's one of the reasons the region and feeders as a whole may not be terribly active, because of stale political systems. Still, let's see how this goes.

    Flemingovia for delegate

I think the government needs to be streamlined majorly, but to eliminate it 100% would be a mistake... Perhaps it could be reduced to some basic regional council? Some of the earliest NS political systems were the best.

    Forum description

And the above is true because of the system of government IMO When elections are only every 4 months and the legislature is for all members, there is no real incentive to be active.

    IMPORTANT - NEXT STEPS

...Who exactly is getting involved? Once you join the forum, we should have other incentives to stay. Games, Junior Minister roles, ambassador duties. Give members a reason to stay, and keep an active legislator. Nebiews don't join the forum aiming to serve in the legislator, rather, they...

    IMPORTANT - NEXT STEPS

Nay, elected legislatures provide for activity. Even if you start with only five elected members you are providing incentive to be active if you have to face re-election. For it's much better to have 5 elected members than a 20 person Assembly where everyone is semi-active/inactive.

    Anthony Weiner

I have to say, I feel like we have entered the genitalia generation of political leaders. From Ed Balls in the UK, Anthony Weiner, and John Boehner, it's a hoot.

    Getting our act together...

... That's exactly what I said. That the change of system to give the executive more power hasn't worked.
  16. HEM

    Getting our act together...

That's because the whole system of government was changed to give the Delegate power. It still hasn't protected the region. This region goes through a cycle, a coup happens and everyone is like, "I agree with them a little. We do need changes." Then right when these 'changes' are being worked...

    Getting our act together...

Because the above has worked well in recent years...? It would be more effective to kick that duty down to the Speaker. The whole Security Council idea can be done informally and perhaps be a tad more effective.

    Getting our act together...

If you think the problems we have can be described as a "mole hill" I would suggest you strongly re-evaluate the region. The government is gigantic, riddled with positions that are irrelevant and ineffective.

    Getting our act together...

Regions like these are 'oligarchies by default.' They could very well become democracies, because nothing such as heritage, royal birth etc is required to be on this forum.
  27. HEM

    Getting our act together...

I usually don't like that idea...It decreases the activity of the election period (ie who you have to speak to in order to win a seat)
  28. HEM

    Getting our act together...

As I said there, I don't think it would work. Judicial branches can work, if they are streamlined and there is one sole justice with an appeals justice to handle any appeals after the Chief Justice's verdict. An elected legislature is best, with a directly elected Chief Executive who can...

    IMPORTANT - NEXT STEPS

You have no idea how tempting it is to run  But seriously, I do think smaller is better. Elect a Delegate who has broad executive power, and a standing legislature elected via popular vote. (5-7 members maybe)
