Speaking of suggestions, have you considered the collapsible category addon? For 1.5, I'd suggest ToggleMe, and for 2.0/2.1/etc, I'd suggest Collapsible Category by ALMUSA. -- I can also recommend some security tools if necessary - Xenforo definitely has a nice array of tools available.
