Archmagistry issues statement on Tangerine Sea incident, urges for de-escalation
Archmagistrate Væren Mercy urged for de-escalation in a newly issued statement regarding the Tangerine Sea incident.
Archmagistrate Mercy reiterated that Lyvenntia is committed to ensuring continued maritime safety, stability, travel, and commerce.
Archmagistrate Væren Mercy released a statement acknowledging an incident which occurred earlier this week off the coast of Maarjamaa. In this statement, the Tangerine Sea Incident was officially acknowledged as an unjustifiable act of aggression by Sainaam against Scalvia. An official condemnation against the acts committed by Zhujing's armed forces has also been issued by the Archmagistry as the Sainaamese ambassador to Lyvenntia has been summoned to demand an explanation for the actions taken against Scalvia.
In his address, Archmagistrate Mercy affirmed Lyvenntia's commitment to its international and regional partners such as Scalvia, as well as joining in mourning and sending condolences to the families and loved ones of the two Scalvian aviators at the hands of "unjustifiable violence and aggression." As partners in maritime safety, security, and stability, Lyvenntia has offered its support to Scalvia and its people as the situation continues. Lyvenntia will not tolerate what it views as "illegal" and "hostile military aggression," and will join Sutheran efforts to push the issue towards the AN and IACJ.
"The actions of the Sainaamese military are unequivocally unacceptable," Archmagistrate Mercy stated. "Lyvenntia stands with Scalvia in condemning this illegal act of aggression. We remain steadfast in our commitment to our partners and allies, both in Eutavia and abroad."
It is accepted by the Lyvenntian government that Scalvian aircraft were operating legally in international airspace at the time they were illegally shot down. The Archmagistrate's office and foreign affairs ministry both support that claim, and claim the shooting down of aircraft in international airspace is unacceptable on both a legal and moral perspective. Scalvia is recognized by Lyvenntia as a strong and competent maritime partner, with cooperation between the two ensuring the safety for all Scalvian, Lyvenntian, and foreign vessels; as well as a democratic partner that allows for continued peace and stability in Ethia. As a longstanding promoter of regional and international marine security and stability, Lyvenntia has a vested interest in helping maintain the stability and security of waterways important to the nation, such as the important shipping lanes in the Tangerine Sea. "We cannot allow such reckless and hostile behavior to go unchecked," Archmagistrate Mercy said. "This aggression not only threatens to increase tensions across Auroria, but undermines the broader stability of our shared international maritime space. Lyvenntia's commitment to maritime safety, security, and stability remains unwavering with our support of Scalvia in the face of illegal and unjustified aggression."
The Lyvenntian government along with neighboring Sutherland, have issued travel advisory warnings to both Scalvia and Sainaam, it is advised that citizens do not travel to either country for the time being.
Lyvenntia calls upon Sainaam to de-escalate the situation and cease illegal and aggressive behavior before the situation devolves into continued crisis or conflict. The Lyvenntian government remains resolute in its position that the continued use and escalation of military force in the Tangerine Sea will only increase tensions and risk of conflict. "Mutual dialogue and calming of tensions through diplomatic means and the refraining of military force is necessary to ensure regional and maritime stability," claims a foreign affairs representative.
