Wednesday 1/10/2025 View from our hotel balcony on a sunny morning
And we have a 'sea view' from the balcony - OK I had to use the telephoto.
Our first 'port of call' was the
Gold Dollar..........
The manager recognised us from last February.
The 2 pints for 3€ had gone up to €3.5 - that's inflation for you.
Cleo had a Tequila Sunrise and I had two pints of Amstel on the offer.
Our old friend is still here..................
On our way to the next stop, we passed
The Railway.
We arrive at the
Surprise Attack.
I love this place.
They still have the 2 pints for 3€ - so I had four pints of
Estrella Damm and Cleo had two Gin & Tonics.
We also ate lunch there, Bacon and Cheese baguettes, delicious, with proper bacon too......
You can't miss this pub, it's the one with the Spitfire on it's roof.
Clever use of a WWII RAF roundel.
It can get a bit drafty near the bar.

Saw these chaps standing outside a pub on the Ave. Meditteraneo
They look as though they haven't been drinking, otherwise Wing Commander Antonius would have put them on a charge.
After Cleo had a little shopping spree in a shoe shop, we manage to make it to our first watering hole.
The Royal Arrow
They used to have the two pints for €3, but that gone up to €3.5, still not that bad.
I had 4 pints of
San Miguel, Cleo was being sensible and just had the one G&T.
Then it was the turn of my favourite pub.
Cleo and I ate some lunch here again - those delicious Cheese and Bacon baguettes.
I had four pints of
Estrella Damm, Cleo had two G&T's.
I noticed this prop had been mounted on the wall.
It appears to be an old WWI prop which has metal leading edges to protect the propeller from their own bullets, as they fired through the propeller arc.
This early method of deflecting shots was a necessary stop-gap measure before the invention and widespread adoption of the synchronized gear, a device that allowed machine guns to fire only when the propeller blades were out of the way.
This method was a temporary fix and had drawbacks, such as the extra strain on the engine shaft and increased propeller weight, which negatively affected performance.
Friday 3/10/2025 Spent a couple hours of shopping looking for presents for friends and Neo.
Bought a T-Shirt for Neo.
He likes his Dragons.

This what can happen when you drink a little too much in Benidorm...........
You start seeing things.

We went to 'Uncle Ron's' for some lunch and have a €1 pint which was
Estrella Levante.
It was very busy and really loud, which affected the quality and speed of service.
So, after a drink and lunch, we moved onto the 'Flash Hotel', just in time for happy hour.
I had a couple of pints of
Amstel, happy hour price €1.40 per pint.
Cleo had a couple of
Pina Colada's.
Cleo loved the Parrots in the straws, so they came home with us.
Saturday 4/10/2025 Took a walk along Levante Beach front.
Benidorm Island in the distance....
[looks like a hair has attached itself to my lens.....Grrrr!]

I used the telephoto for this shot of Benidorm Island
Looking across Levante towards Old Town and Poniente Beach in the distance.
Near one of 'our' pubs on the way to get some lunch from the 'bakery' [Florida - they do a great meal deal - Baguette, crisps, drink and a cake for €6.5]
Then it was shopping time with Cleo...........
After Cleo's shopping trip, it's time for Marcus Time - to my favourite pub - 'Surprise Attack!'
