Article 6 of the Constitution is amended as follows:
18. Following this and the subsequently listed clause's addition to the constitution, requirements for any constitutionally mandate office to be elected every four months will be rendered void until another regular election for that office is completed.
19. A regular election for justices will be held on January 1, 2026 and not before then; regular elections for Delegate, Vice Delegate, and Speaker will be held on November 1, 2025.

Sprung up out of a conversation on Discord. Enjoy!

Against due to the name, otherwise in support.

Yes, I am zero fun at parties.

My main first thought here is that the General Election being moved should also get the 6-month term that the Justices would or the 2 month split should be the January one - it seems a bit not great to cut a Delegate term in half in the middle of the election for that term.

Also it would be cool if we had some way to run this without putting it in the Constitution (since all positions already operate on “every four months”) - I don’t know if we could do motion essentially at Constitutional amendment levels or perhaps a self-terminating clause (ie, remove after the last election set).

Also needs to consider how the delegate term limit will be handled, since someone will wind up with a extra-length or extra-short one

We just passed an amendment to extend term limits, I rather think the delegate will be fine tbqh

I’m not a fan of making the next Delegate’s term two months when our candidates planned for a four months term. This is the wrong time for this if this has to be implemented at all.

If we don't want to cut the next term down to 2 months, there could be another way. One idea is to do 2 consecutive 3-month terms. Push the next election back to December instead of November. That would get us on track for March, July, and November elections.

I have the same thought as Lord Dominator in that this should not be a constitutional amendment. If we did it this way, we would also then need to amend the legal code, and at that point we might as well just amend the legal code to start with.

As for cutting the term short, I do like GBM's proposal of two 3 month terms. My second favorite is a 6 month, but I don't support a 2 month term at all.

There is no legal way to make this not a constitutional amendment.

Anyways, I release my draft of this to whoever wants to redraft, or they can just make their own. I’m not into the legislative song and dance anymore. Have fun
