I make mistakes from time to time, some bigger and some smaller. I believe that I learn and improve from these mistakes. Usually, they are either negligible or easy to rectify. Last Friday, I made a significant mistake, and I want to take responsibility for it and explain what happened.
On the 11th of April, Europeia hosted a radio show about the situation in The Outback and invited several well-known Gameplayers to their panel. Towards the end of the show, I joined the audience of the stage channel after a night out drinking and partying to celebrate the end of my exam week. I was intoxicated and not in a position where I would be able to make level-headed decisions and exercise good judgment.
I jokingly suggested that I should be let on the stage because I was “drunk and [had] opinions”. For one reason or another, I somehow ended up on the stage where some members of the panel were encouraging me to speak up about some controversial topics pertaining to the New Pacific Order and the Augustin Alliance. Due to the state I was in, I had a lapse in judgment and engaged. In my fiery speech, I said things which contradicted the Delegate’s position on the issue, made commitments that I couldn’t back up, and went a bit too far with my remarks. I have a crucial role in this region and should have kept in mind that what I say matters even if I am not trying to officially speak for the government.
While my love for this region and dedication to its future were apparent, the way I went about it was without grace and decorum. It is not acceptable for someone of my station and position in this region. No matter how I felt or how fair I felt my criticism was, I could have gone about it in a more professional and respectful manner, and I regret if I hurt anyone personally in the process. I’ve spoken with the Delegate and fully accept the consequences for my actions. I will strive to do better and recommit to my duties tenfold.
To put it plainly, I fucked up. I mixed NationStates with booze and spoke out of turn, in odds with this administration. While the invitation to speak was a mistake and I shouldn’t have accepted it, I am ultimately responsible for my own actions, and I do not and cannot blame anybody else for my actions. I take full ownership of my actions and I deeply apologise for them. This region has given me a chance to serve and a chance to become the best version of myself. I am sorry for letting you down and ask that you let me learn from my mistakes and continue giving my all to this region.
