“Fear not,“ said an angel of the Lord to the shepherds who boded in the field. “For, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people
.“ This is good news for everyone, for Christmas excludes no one. It does not reject or bar any one person from the festivities. Everyone is welcome to celebrate and belongs, including you.
As we gather to celebrate Christmas and enjoy the holidays, I wish to speak to you, not only as your monarch but as a fellow Eiygle who shares in the joys and challenges of our times.
This season, we are reminded of the enduring power of love, hope, and generosity. Across our land and across the world over, families are coming together, communities are sharing their warmth, and acts of kindness are shining as beacons of light in the winter’s bitter cold.
It has been a year since the passing of His Majesty the King, my beloved father, who was an inspiration to Eiygland and a warm light to me and to all of my family. He was a kindhearted man who cared deeply for his family and his people, who held no contempt towards others, and who presented himself as an example of a good person, through his sense of duty, his words and, more importantly, his actions and deeds. He is an individual that many look up to, and his passing has affected us deeply and we will always miss him dearly.
The calendar is turning its page to a new year, which is a moment to reflect on the journey we have traversed together. We have seen many trials this year. We have faced challenges, both at home and overseas, that tested our resilience and demanded sacrifices from each one of us. Yet, in moments of adversity, we have witnessed the strength of unity. Whether it was through lending a hand to a fellow neighbour, offering comfort to those in need, or striving together toward a common good, the spirit of compassion continues to prevail. It is that unwavering spirit in these moments of trial that lends itself as a beacon of hope, and where we have seen the true strength of community.
At Christmas, we are called to reflect on the deeper meaning of this season — a time of peace, of forgiveness, and of renewal. It is a moment for us to look towards ourselves, to cherish those we hold dear, to remember those we have lost as they’ve departed from this world, and to extend our grace to those whom we may never meet but whose lives we can touch.
As we look forward to a new year, I am filled with hope for the future. Let us continue to embrace the values that bind us: respect for one another, resilience in the face of difficulty, and a commitment to building a brighter tomorrow for all. As we step into this new chapter, let us carry with us the lessons learned from this past year — the triumphs, the hardships, and the moments of solidarity. Let us forge ahead with courage, determination, and a renewed sense of purpose. Together, let us aspire to create a future built on understanding one another. Let this year be a canvas upon which we paint a portrait of progress, empathy, and boundless possibilities.
May the next new year be one of shared prosperity, where each of us finds fulfillment in our endeavors. Let us continue to stand by one another, supporting and uplifting those in need, as we embark on this journey into the unknown.
May this Christmas bring you joy, peace, and love. And may the blessings of this season be with you and your families now and in the days to come.
Merry Christmas, and may God bless you all.
