The Democratic People’s Republic of Anmativeda is a country on the continent of Meterra. It borders Yekteniya to the west and Seinoku to the east. The country’s capital city is Meuxnghim and its largest city is Chianmei.

The earliest records of civilization in the area date back to the 300s BCE in the form of several city states. Several powerful kingdoms and empires have occupied areas of what is now Anmativeda throughout history: the Bagar Empire in the 1000s comes to mind. Stuff past like 1500 needs to be worked on with others probably. Anmativeda was likely colonized at some point.

It was at least independent by 1953, whereby the Anmativeda National Liberation Army established the People’s Republic of Anmativeda. This was a one party socialist state that was vastly oppressive and authoritarian. The People’s republic was overthrown by the September 8th Movement in 1989 during the 9898 Revolution. This revolution established the Democratic People’s Republic of Anmativeda, a multiparty unitary presidential republic.

The DPR was a reasonably successful attempt at democracy within the nation and successfully held several elections, improved standard of living, the economy, and foreign relations. However, Anmativeda has never been a particularly stable country. It has had 7 military coups since 1953. Additionally, human rights abuses and ethnic conflict continued to be a problem in several regions. Because of the military’s power within the country, it was able to operate outside the purview of the government and did things like owning their own gas station chains and mining cryptocurrency. The military was also required to have 1/4 of the seats in legislature to appease them.

Unfortunately, appeasement only goes so far. On August 21, 2020, General Huy Wattana launched a coup d’état and seized power. This coup deposed widely popular President Intira Mei. Mei is currently held as a political prisoner along with many other politicians by the junta. The coup led to widespread and ongoing protests against the military regime that have been met with violent repression by the military. These protests would soon lead to the outbreak of open civil war between the military and its allied militias and republican forces and their allied ethnic militias.

Anmativeda’s economy has never been a particularly strong area for the country. Despite having incredibly valuable reserves of oil and natural gas, tapping these reserves has been difficult due to very poor infrastructure, aforementioned instability, and several other reasons. Anmativeda is also famed for its gemstones, in particular jade, sapphires, pearls, and rubies from several areas in the country are very high quality and highly sought after. Despite the practice being outlawed in 2005, Anmativeda remains a global leader in the production of illicit opium. However, the largest industries in the country are garment production and rice. Anmativeda has also sought to increase the number of tourists visiting the country since the turn of the century.

Anmativeda is a massively flawed country but many citizens still see the potential in the country and will fight to seize that potential. It has a massive income gap due to a large portion of the economy being controlled by military cronies. It is also one of the least developed countries on Eras, ranking very low on the human development index. Ethnic violence and the civil war have left hundreds of thousands of people in need of humanitarian assistance and displaced well over half a million.

On April 21, 2023, the Free Army of Anmativeda launched စစ်ဆင်ရေးတိုက်စစ် (Operation Striker) against Junta positions south of the city of Laukai in cooperation with the allied Kau People's Army. On the 23rd, the FAA and KPA captured the village of Momeik from Junta forces. They almost immediately found themselves under heavy indirect fire from artillery pieces to the north and Air Force jets from above. Shortly afterward, rebel forces spotted a [Mil Mi-2] operated by the လေတပ် (Laytaut, Air Force). The helicopter, serial number 3804, from the 38th Rotorcraft Regiment had been dispatched to the area to act as a liaison for the artillery pieces as they continued to pound Momeik.

Unfortunately for the helicopter and its crew, the town was captured bythe 132nd Infantry Battalion and its supporting elements. Among those supporting elements was the Free Army Air Defense Force's စပါးအုံး ကော်လံ (Python Column), အဆိပ် အဖွဲ့ (Venom Group), of the 16th Mixed Air Defense Battalion of the Free Army of Anmativeda

Python Column, equipped with a quad-mounted anti-aircraft gun mounted on a 6x6 truck and a pair of MANPADS launchers lay in wait in the treeline outside of Momeik watching the helicopter approach. Knowing their MANPADS were precious, fired on the helicopter with their AA gun, failing to score any hits due to the range. The helicopter retreated to a further distance from Momeik to protect from light weapon fire. To prevent the helicopter's escape, Python fired a missile at it. The missile struck the helicopter at the base of the tail, shearing it off, and starting a fire. The helicopter plummeted to earth, killing the three Laytaut personnel onboard. The FAA located the wreckage the next day. It was the fourth helicopter downed by the rebels since the start of 2023.

Some of the men and the vehicles of Python Column, Venom Group, 16th Mixed Air Defense Battalion that were present during the incident are shown here.

The AA gun was mounted to a 6x6 flatbed truck using an improvised pedestal mount. Additional ammo cans appear to have been tied down between the cab and the mount. The truck was covered in a variety of markings by its crew, visible in videos taken and posted by them of the incident. The mount had the word "သတိရပါ။" (Remember) written on it, a common abbreviation of the rebel slogan "Remember the Martyrs/အာဇာနည်များကို သတိရပါ။". It also had one of the many flags associated with the Free Government painted on it, a red and blue field with a central white circle in which a dove with an olive branch in its beak flies. The cab had the word "ပိုးသတ်ဆေး" (Pesticide) written on one side and the Mercanti words "Fly Swatter" painted on the other. The cab roof was painted red to aid in aerial identification, as the FAA makes prolific use of homemade drone weapons. The numbers 9-16 are also written on the cab, which allowed OSINT sources to identify the vehicle as belonging to the third company of the 16th Mixed Air Defense Battalion. The 16 is the battalion and 9 identifies it as the battalion's 9th vehicle, OSINT sources believe that each Group in a MAD Btn receives three such vehicles, meaning this one is from the third Group, Venom.

Python Column also had a pickup truck with them at the time of the event, which appears to have been carrying the MANPADS team and additional personnel. The truck's personnel also took videos and images of the incident that were later posted. The truck has similar markings to the truck. On its doors, the word "စပါးအုံး" (Python) has been written to identify it to friendly forces, and also to OSINT sources that were now able to narrow down which Column of Venom Group was involved. FAADF markings were also on the bed, directly behind the cabin, a rebel red star on the bed, and the hood was painted red as well.

The picture above shows Skandan Type 175 tank as seen in an Anmativedan 2020 military parade, months before the coup that plunged the country into civil war. A serial number painted on the side skirts identifies this tank as 789-333. This means the tank is from the 789th Armored Regiment's (789-XXX) 3rd Battalion's (789-3XX) 3rd Company (798-33X), and is that company's 3rd vehicle (789-333). Anmativedan tanks underwent a domestic upgrade program in the early 2000s which included the installation of side skirts, an imported "modern" night vision sight for the commander and gunner, and the opportunity for the installation of ERA bricks on the front of the turret and the glacis (not pictured). The program was called နာဂ (Narg/Naga) and tanks upgraded to the new standard were called Type 175 Narg. The Narg was a point of national pride, despite the fact that the program had done barely anything to actually improve the tanks.

The same tank, 789-333 was photographed on December 20, 2,024 in the town of Yatai. The 789th was sent to Yatai as a reaction to the Free Government's launch of Operation High Roller. Notable changes from its previous form are clear: slat armor on the turret and sides, large yellow and red identifying marks, ERA mounted to the turret and the glacis, and a cope cage mounted to the roof.

Above is an example of some former Thhar armored personnel carriers being used by the FGA. Specifically, these captured armored vehicles are assigned to the 1st Infantry Battalion, which operates a wide variety of such equipment. These vehicles are from the Third Group, 1st Infantry Battalion which operates these wheeled APCs, many of which were captured during the Battle of Laukham.
The vehicles here have markings like most FGA vehicles do. Going left to right, the first has the Meng number "420" on its turret. Similar to its usage in Mercanti, 420 is also connected to crime; it is a slang term for a cheater or fraud, not for marijuana. The second vehicle has the phrase "ကျတ်ကော" (Bhat Kyaw, literally meaning more than one Bhat) written on its hull, which is a slang phrase for someone who thinks they are cool but isn't, or a know-it-all. Also on its turret is "ညီ၄၀၀" meaning Younger Brother. The next vehicle has ၉ကြီး on its turret, meaning Older Brother. Also a Kilroy. Finally, the last vehicle has the phrase "အချစ်ဆုံး" (ah-chit-sone) on its forward hull, a term of endearment roughly equivalent to calling someone your Most Beloved. It also has the letter လွ on its rear hull, the first letter of လွတ်လပ်သောအစိုးရ (Free Government [of Anmativeda]).

APCs like these are hard to come by for the FGA. They have their captured stocks but no way to repair them or produce more. As such, the vehicles are used sparingly and are crewed by only the best soldiers the FGA has to offer. Recently, elements of the 1st Infantry Battalion have taken part in Operation High Roller.
