Candidacy Declarations: September 2015 General Elections

This September, The North Pacific will be electing a Delegate, a Vice Delegate, and a Speaker, to serve until the next election in January 2016. Any Citizen who has been a member for the last 15 days (since 18th August 2015) is eligible to run for these offices, and eligible members may run for more than one of these offices if they so wish. Loss of Citizenship before the conclusion of this election will also result in loss of eligibility to run for any office during this election. A list of those eligible to run is provided below.

To run, one must either accept a nomination or declare candidacy in this thread. To withdraw from running, one must post a withdrawal of candidacy in this thread.

Acceptances of nominations, declarations of candidacy, and withdrawals of candidacy posted outside this thread will be discounted. Acceptance of a nomination is understood to also constitute declaration of candidacy even if no nomination has been made. Acceptances of nominations, declarations of candidacy, and withdrawals of candidacy must be posted during the candidacy declaration period to be valid. The candidacy declaration period is from (time=1441116000) (your forum time) to (time=1441548000) (your forum time). Voting will be approximately from (time=1441548000) (your forum time) to (time=1441980000) (your forum time).

This topic is intended for nominations, acceptances of nominations, declarations of candidacy, and withdrawals of candidacy; it may not be used for campaigning. Please keep in mind that lying about the election is election fraud, and that lying for any purpose is fraud.

I sense Vice Delegate is pretty much decided and there's little point in waging a futile campaign. Thank you for the nomination Kialga, but I must decline.
 
I am flattered McM! I do not consider my self prepared or willing at the present moment to serve as VD. I must decline. Thanks :hug:
 
Thank you so much for your nominations, I feel flattered and thankful but:

For Delegate: SillyString accepting her nomination just made my day! I fifth/sixth (or whatever) her nomination, and I must decline.

For VD: Even after Raven's retreat, there are great TNPers on the nominee list, I decline also my nomination for VD.

If I may, while it is true that your registered TNP nation is West Lusterland and you are a citizen, you also only became a citizen three days before the declarations opened. One must have been a citizen for the fifteen days prior to declarations in order to stand, due to the below clause of the Constitution:

Article 7. General Provisions:
11. Candidates in any election must maintain citizenship for the fifteen days before the opening of candidacy declarations and throughout the election.

So I'm afraid for this election you aren't.
 
I reapplied for citizenship. I just used West Lusterland. Ravon and West Lusterland who've been citizens since July, are just reregistered

That may be true, but the provision is in relation to the fifteen days imediately before the declaration period begins, not to any period of fifteen days nor any cumulative fifteen as citizen.

As you are a Citizen, you are already in the Regional Assembly.
 
Okay.

You cannot run in this election because you have not been part of the assembly for long enough. You are still able to vote in this election.

You are also able to propose and vote on legislation inside the Regional Assembly.

(Perhaps further discussion unrelated to this election could be taken elsewhere?)
