The August Brokerage Council

Headed by President Ambrogino Petralia Spallino, the Brokerage Council is the gatekeeper between Imperium and the world.

Since its foundation in 1592, the Secretariat for the Economy has been critical in organising the industrial and commercial output of Imperium into a single national brand. Retaining the individual and collective freedom of its people to invest and innovate, the Brokerage Council provides legal and administrative services to August citizens, and those trading with them. It is because of the dedicated work of countless men and women, serving in the Brokerage Council and the Secretariat, that Imperium boasts one of the highest numbers of self-employed, per capita, in the region.

The Brokerage Council organises contractual negotiations between foreign entities and state-owned corporations in Imperium, which in turn maintain product integrity and Imperium-side contractual obligations.

Cognizant of an ever-changing global economy, the Brokerage Council has found it, for the first time, prudent to actively market Imperium industry to the world, as a courtesy to its clients and Imperium. Over time, corporations in which Imperium is viewed to hold a distinct comparative advantage will be featured by the Brokerage Council through standardized 'brand schedules'.

Inviting the Brokerage Council

The Brokerage Council allows foreign governments to invite it for sales direct to their domestic industry. As a government body, the Brokerage Council does not operate overseas without the permission of the recipient nation. While the constituent corporations can, and do, export to foreign nations outside the oversight of the Brokerage Council, contracting the Brokerage Council directly allows Imperium to advertise its competitive products direct to consumers, and to foreign government agencies.

'White Cliff'
by the August Corporation for Mechanical Engineering (ACME)

Boasting some of the oldest factories in the region as partners, Imperium's cities have been major exporters of tools and hardware for centuries. This brand takes its name from Alba Longa's white cliffs, a symbol of persistence, dedication, and resilience. From the simplest DIY kit to the immense beasts of burden that eat away the cliffs of states across the world, White Cliff tools and equipment are the gears that make international industry run smoothly.

'Chalkbrick' - "The homemaker's choice."

With affordable hammers, screwdrivers, and manual unpowered tools and accessories, Chalkbrick makes home renovation just one of the tasks the modern homemaker can tackle with ease. However, Chalkbrick also forms the foundations of the professional's toolkit, as the basis for a true White Cliff toolkit.

Chalkbrick Hammers: Sold based on weight and head configuration. Both mallet and claw hammers are available in weights that are multiples of 4 ounces from 8 to 32 ounces (8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, and 32 ounces). Mallets are available with rubber heads, and claw hammers can be purchased with either 'Classic' steel heads or 'Modern' fibre-glass heads.

'Colosseum' - "Tools that last longer than a lifetime."

The Colosseum range is the commercial operation's choice for tools and hardware. With all the affordability of one of the world's biggest consumer producers, and all the endurance of one of the world's largest industrial suppliers, the Colosseum range is the small business-owners' choice for tools that'll be going in the will.

'Visavi'
by the August Corporation for Contactless Electronic Smartcard Services (ACCESS)
Applications for Visavi available at the bottom of this post.

ACCESS Visavi is Imperium's contribution to the logistical challenges of the future's public transportation services. As Imperium exports some of the most accessible public transportation options deployed by nations across the globe, the strain of supporting ever-more affordable transportation has become clear across the world.

It is clear that whether it is a train, a bus, or a tram, it is no longer enough to simply tout being "Made in Imperium". Instead, Imperium has set its sights on making transportation efficient even before your commuters step foot on an Augustan chassis.

ACCESS Visavi is the world's answer to people movement. A contactless smartcard for the modern nation, Visavi replaces physical tickets with a virtual wallet. All you need to do is remember to Sign in at an ACCESSgate when boarding a vehicle, and Sign out when alighting. Top up your Visavi at a PayPass Machine with cash or payment cards. Or, if you're with a participating bank or employer, have them automatically deduct a monthly top-up - a set fee, or a set target fund.

Governments will find Visavi tailored to their needs too. A service designed, implemented, and updated by Imperium itself, the system is designed from the ground up to work with the changing needs of the contemporary political institution. Visavi allows governments to implement new concession, ticketing, and data-mining programs with minimal effort. Visavi can also be integrated with existing smartcards, as Imperium already does with National Identification Cards, through the Secondpage Chip.

Visavi can even handle multiple currencies. Visiting Imperium from a nation that implements Visavi? Your Visavi card will still work, once you've topped it up with a few August Libra for the trip.

ACCESSgates themselves come into two designs - a physical barrier, which is available in an accessible double-width configuration, as well as a pole-mounted reader for use on-board vehicles or in low-use stations, where fare evasion is less concerning than safety. Note, however, that physical barriers can be remotely forced open digitally (for example, from a reception area), and will also automatically open and sound an alarm on the application of high pressure, to alleviate the dangers of a crowd-crush and damage from belligerent commuters. Compromising either of these capabilities is considered a breach of contract. ACCESSgates are not designed for crowd-control, and such requirements should be filled through other suppliers.

The above-mentioned state wishes to contract ACCESS to implement the ticketing system of the future. The above-mentioned state acknowledges that 5% of fare-intake will be retained by ACCESS. The above-mentioned state acknowledges that ACCESS will have the right to charge the state for the manufacture and shipping price, plus a 10% profit, of Visavi cards and ACCESSgates.

'Paxborn'
by the August Firearms and Ammunition Corporation (AFAC)

The Paxborn stretch back to the first firearm invented in Imperium Augustum, the Paxborn Dragoon. A cannon designed in the 1200s by the Prime Quay Arsenal, it ushered Imperium into a modern age, capable of challenging the walls and stockades of the world. Gunpowder forever changed the balance of international capability in favour of offense, requiring ever-greater walls to stand against ever-greater cannons. The best defense became a great offense.

The Prime Quay Arsenal lasted for two hundred more years, before being absorbed by the Imperium Gunpowder Company - the precursor to today's AFAC. Like the Paxborn Dragoon, today's Paxborns are guns that challenge the status quo, because power from the barrel of a gun can challenge a thousand walls. Guns that are affordable, but game-changing. Paxborn: for a maker's mark with its own stopping power.

- Paxborn Schedules -

'Paxborn Rifles' - "The world standard, at war and peace."

Paxborn rifles serve the role of the discerning military man, hunter, self-defender, and officer of the peace. When you need a gun, Paxborn rifles are there. This is the schedule that produces everything from marksmen to snipers to special weapons teams. When all you want is a barrel and a trigger, a Paxborn bullpup rifle puts them as close to you as possible, so you can put down a hostile as far away as possible.

PX2015-SBA 'Dalmatian' Standard Bullpup Assault Rifle: A bullpup assault rifle - plain and simple. As a service rifle for the masses, the Dalmatian is designed for simple use by the average gun enthusiast and firearms specialist, used extensively in Imperium for both service and training reservists. Chambered for the 9x19mm Parabellum round, the Dalmatian trades the weakness of the round at range for low costs and lower visibility. As a result, the Dalmatian is recommended for short-range engagement, with an effective firing range of 300 metres, rather than long-range engagement at the maximum firing range of 2,500 metres, and is indeed designed for troops who are expected to be unable to engage effectively at long range. Instead, the Dalmatian's bullpup configuration allows for high mobility, letting users get into range for an engagement in an orderly and rapid fashion.

At a weight of only 3.3 kilograms, the Dalmatian can be carried and fired by an inexperienced user, with less recoil and muscle strain than a conventional rifle, without compromising on an impressive muzzle velocity of 950 m/s and unparalleled automatic-fire accuracy. A barrel length of 420 mm matches that of common assault rifles, while the bullpup design retains a total length of only 750 mm. This low length allows for efficient environment scanning and high mobility in constrained areas, minimizing the area covered by a user's scanning arc and allowing for a perfect firing stance in even tight corridors. The low weight is facilitated by a blowback lever-delayed blowback reloading action, giving the light 9x19mm Parabellum rounds power that can match rifle rounds.

With a 25-round detachable box magazine, the Dalmatian is light, fast, and strikes from the most unlikely of places. Perfect for the army that needs control of everything from the treelines to the skylines.

PX2015-SAP 'Kilntinder' Semi-Automatic Pistol: The Kilntinder is the service sidearm of all Imperium services, with some deploying them in a primary capacity. As a sidearm, the Kilntinder is a general use semi-automatic weapon for self-defense, designed for maximum breadth of operational use and standardization across services. Using the 9x19mm Parabellum, the Kilntinder can swap ammunition with the larger Dalmatian as a weapon for directed semi-automatic use, in environments where an automatic weapon would be inappropriate. Weighing in at less than a kilogram, the Kilntinder is the weapon of choice for effortless target acquisition.
