Anzoátegui-The chief port of the East, Anzoátegui is renowned across the country as being the city with the lowest crime rate and the most beautiful beaches. The city, which is the 2nd largest in all of Cojedes, is steeped in history as it is the birthplace of the First Civil War of Cojedes, which saw the end of the First Republic and beginning of the Second. Anzoátegui is also one of the largest, behind Mérida, agricultural centers in the entire nation. It is also the home of the main naval base of the Eastern Fleet.
