BALAMB, SYRIXIA- The Prime Minister, The R. Hon. Alfred Nursson, was pronounced dead earlier this afternoon following a catastrophe in the extreme northeast of the Khaar'haku province. The Prime Minister was there to meet with two other important men; John Agnarsson, CEO of Inisqimaan Incorporated, and Alan Day, CEO of Dahraqa Financiers, LLC. to discuss what to do about Syrixia's economic future. Former soldiers who were discharged after Syrixia's recent NPTO-backed military downsizing have created tons of jobs for Syrixia, however many economists speculate that won't be enough, hence why the meeting was scheduled.

Mr. Agnarsson, who was the only survivor of the attack, sat down with us for an interview and talked about the experience. According to him, the terrorists, whose identities and nationalities are still unknown, snuck into an Inisqimaan Incorporated power plant where Agnarsson was hosting the meeting. This location was chosen by Agnarsson for the meeting because of its remoteness, and thus, its heightened safety. However, the head chef of the plant, Frederick Johnson, reportedly was working with the terrorists and inserted some kind of poison into the day's lunch, a traditional Syrixian soup, in order to kill all of the guards.

Not only did all the guards die, but so did Alan Day, who ate his soup as soon as it was served to the three men. When he collapsed dead, Agnarsson says, everyone in the room stood up and looked around, wondering if something was going on. The presence of local police a mere minute later confirmed this, and soon enough the terrorists had broken down the door, tossed a flashbang grenade in the room, and killed all the security guards inside the room as well. Agnarsson said the leader, a young woman, dispatched her two associates, two men, to blow up the plant itself. She then spared Agnarsson, telling him to get out of the plant.

Soon after Agnarsson exited the plant, according to him, a gunshot was fired, and through the translucent windows Agnarsson could make out the body of Nursson slumping over dead. Agnarsson then found the police and got them to break in using C4 explosives. Mysteriously, the terrorists were gone. Day and Nursson's bodies were collected, and the police and Agnarsson, with the bodies in tow, escaped with their lives as the plant blew up. Some officers heroically tried to stop the terrorists, but there was not enough time. With the loss of the power plant means that the towns of Luqya, Dohar, and Hafej are now experiencing a blackout, and the government has encouraged people from these towns to buy and use generators or solar panels.

The terrorists were presumed dead after the explosion, however, mysteriously, their bodies were never found. The country, however, will go on. A special election that started minutes after the Prime Minister was pronounced dead has elected Auel Vist, former Minister of Defense, as the next Prime Minister. He plans to greenify Syrixia totally, eliminating nuclear power and utilizing green resources in larger amounts. He also aspires to have a state funeral for the late Prime Minister. He pledges to make Syrixia peaceful again under his administration; as he was a key challenger of Nursson's policies. Nevertheless, while Syrixia has lost a brash warmongerer, it has also lost a strong man who brought Syrixia into the modern age. The now rechristened Free Republic of Syrixia, he says, is a new dawn of peace for Syrixia; however that does not mean Nursson's memory is gone.

Syrixia Changes National Anthem
Parliament passes 2015 Anthem Act, after suggestion in Parliament to find a new anthem

BALAMB, SYRIXIA- For the past two months, talks have been ongoing in Parliament to change Syrixia's anthem, as the old one, "The Eternal Sun", while rich in symbolism, was too short and had potential to be expanded upon. Finally, just today, Parliament has voted and the National Anthem of the Syrixian Empire has changed. Adapted from a poem written by Maharaja Rahul II while in exile in Plembobria, the National Anthem, Prajapati save the Empire, became Syrixia's national anthem on November 3rd, 2015. It symbolizes the will of the Syrixian people to keep going through any and all struggles, and praises Prajapati, praised in Rakanism as the one Lord of the Universe, as well as the Syrixian Emperor, symbol of the Syrixian state and its ceremonial figurehead.

The history of Syrixia and its national anthem goes all the way back to Magadha, the merchant's confederacy of antiquity. Different companies, when marching their forces into wars over farmland or other financial assets, would play unique songs tailored to them alone used to rally their forces and bring morale up. During the Chola era, when ancient Syrixia was united under the Kingdom of Chola, anthems were abandoned as there was no longer such conflict as seen in Magadha. However, after Chola split into three, the concept of the anthem was reborn as Jamadarh, Sailendra, and Rajpur fought it out. Instead of once again abandoning anthems, Akbar I of the newly-united Syrixian Empire commissioned the composition and lyricization of a new anthem for the Empire, "Jai Maharaja".

This new anthem served from the beginning of the Empire all the way up until 1947, although it underwent many changes and by the fall of the Empire to the communists it was completely different in notes and in most, but not all, of its lyrics from the original ancient anthem. The communists, wanting to erase all parts of the old Empire from the government, created a new anthem, called "Red Star March", which served until 1964, when it was replaced with the now taboo song "The Internationale". In 2006, with the revival of the Empire under a constitution and the ascendancy of Rajesh III to the revived Imperial throne, a new anthem was drafted by the composer Nahesh Taurani, hired by Parliament to find a new song Syrixia could rally under.

The song Nahesh proposed was "The Eternal Sun", which praised the Sun, still one of Syrixia's primary symbols, and the people of the nation. However, in recent years, the Rajpur Lion, Syrixia's national animal, has eclipsed the Sun as Syrixia's primary symbol. This, coupled with the previously mentioned room for expansion within the relatively short song, started talks about the creation of a new anthem. Now, this new anthem has been passed, and it will debut during the TNP Cup, during the opening ceremony, when the national anthems of every nation are sung. What this new anthem shows us above all else is that Syrixia is bound by truth and honor, as well as its ancient past and its bright future.

-PART 1-

Prajapati save Syrixia,
our home and our motherland!
Prajapati give us mercy,
guide us with Your graceful hand!
|: Let us rejoice in light,
let us never drown in fright;
Prajapati save Syrixia,
our home and our motherland! :|

-PART 2-

2. Prajapati save the Empire,
and he who holds the ancient Crown!
Let him lead us with valiance,
and be the Great King of Kings!
|: Let him guide us with great love,
and Your blessing from above;
Prajapati save the Empire,
our home and our mother land! :|

-PART 3-

3. Prajapati is with us,
from now 'till the end of times.
Honor and truth guide our march,
and the Emperor leads the charge.

Here we shout, and here we stand,
Prajapati save our mother land! :|

MANHATT, KANNEX- This just in! Terrorist attacks have taken place in Manhatt, Kannex spurred by the migrant crisis of McMasterdonian refugees following the McMasterdonian civil war. The Maharaja has called this event "a terrifying tragedy", as well as saying that "the hearts and minds of the Syrixian people go out to Kannex." Many Syrixians and political pundits believe that some Flemingovianist terrorist group carried out the attacks.

The Patriarchate of Cape El, the largest and by far most destructive of such groups, has not yet stepped forward as the perpetrator, but around 86% of all Syrixians believe they were behind this. Another 8% believe another Flemingovianist group perpetrated the attacks, and the last 5% believe some other type of group did it. All can agree, however, with the words of the Prime Minister Rohit Kumar: "These attacks show us the magnitude of both the extremist threat, and the anti-Flemingovianist tensions in Kannex. We must come together to end the horrific atrocities of the McMasterdonian Civil War."

The Prime Minister also spoke about the anti-Flemingovianist tension in Kannex, saying: "This hate and this fearmongering is only creating more problems. People should not hate that group of people; but instead their extremist ideology. It is this perversion of the Flemingovian religion that is causing problems. For the sake of both the Flemingovian religion and the people Flemingovianist extremism is harming, we must fight the extremists, and we must fight the hate against all Flemingovianists caused by these extremists."

Syrixian football teams, handball teams, and soccer teams as well as numerous other teams and organizations in Syrixia today have displayed the Kannexan flag and numerous towns have decided to lower their Imperial flags to half mast.
