The New Inquisition Foreign Dispatch
Greetings to all the regions who are reading this throughout our various embassies world wide from the ministers and citizens of The New Inquisition! We realise that it has indeed been a long time since we have updated you on the affairs of our region, and you do have a lot to catch up on.. Much has happened within the last few months, and this update will endeavor to put you all up to speed. Remember, if you have any questions, our ambassador will be happy to help you out
New Realm Chancellor Appointed

After an election which saw much drama (to be mentioned later in this piece) Citizen Tinsy was duly put forward as Realm Chancellor of the New Inquisition by the Chamber in Council and on that recommendation was appointed by the Empress on the 28th May 2007.
The run off had been between Schnecke (former Chancellor and Independent), Sir Pitt (former Chancellor and Royalist Party Leader) and Citizen Tinsy (former Minister and Social Democratic Party Leader). Though Sir Pitt was thought to have the lead with the Royalist Party being the largest in the Council following the elections, votes for Schnecke took votes away from him and Citizen Tinsy was able to win on the pluarity system. On that note, the Empress appointed Citizen Tinsy as Realm Chancellor.
Citizen Tinsy has since appointed his Cabinet:
The Government has much to do this term, with Constitutional Reform and International Development placed at the heart of the agenda. The next ten weeks will hold much change for the region it is hoped and the Empress has given her backing to the Government fully.
General Elections Completed: Royalist Party On Top
Royalists plan their campaign for victory
General Elections were held on May 20th 2007, with each citizen receiving 4 votes to use on the candidates they think are most qualified for the Council. The main battles between two parties, the Royalist Party (sitting on the centre-right) and the Social Democratic Party (sitting on the centre/centre-left). The first count put both parties with 3 members of the Council each with two independents. However a by-election was then held in which both parties fielded a candidate. The Royalist Party Candidate (Sir Pitt) was victorious and thus the Royalist Party was the largest party. Since the election Schnecke, the former Chancellor, has joined the Royalist Party giving it a firm majority in the House.

With the Royalist Party now in control of the Chamber in Council, a Council Speaker has been elected for the first time. The Royalist Party Chief Whip, Harshhaven, has been given this honour receiving votes from both sides of the Chamber.
Constitutional Confusion
Discussion continues over the Constitution
The Constitution continues to be debated as members of the region continue to argue over the nature of the Constitution. While it seems that the Empress will remain a firm figure in the next Constitutional arrangement (though less sweeping then her current powers) the Imperial Diet (Parliament) will become a bi-cameral legislature. A Council (Executive) shall also recieve greater powers though it is still not certain what powers it will have.
At present, the Committee has decided to break down the Constitution into 'bits' and to discuss each of one before moving onto the next. The Committee is still debating the issue of the Monarchy at this moment in time, and it is not known when the new Constitution shall be ready. The Government has been charged by the Empress to make this a high priority and movements are already being made to get the Constitution completed by the end of the term.

Constitution Presented to the Council

The Constitutional Convention Head, Sir Pitt, finally brought a draft before the Council which had been worked out with members of the other parties most notably Carraterra of the Social Democratic Party. The Constitution will reduce the powers of the Empress but still give her a pivtol role in the Government of the region.
The Constitution will see the creation of a bi-cameral 'Imperial Diet' with a lower house of elected officials 'The Reichstag' and a upper house which shall be appointed. The Lower House shall retain more power then the Upper House which we still have considerable oversight. The Constitution will also see the creation of a court system which shall over see the Constitution and cover court cases.
The Realm Chancellor had set a deadline for the Constitutional draft to be presented to the Council as the 10th June which was duly met. The Constitution shall be voted on shortly with passage expected with the Royalist Majority backing the new Constitution.
By-Election: Royalists Retain Majority
The elections take place as citizens vote for their favoured Councillor
After the resignation of former Royalist Party Leader, EJM, the Council needed to have a by-election to replace his seat. The two main parties (The Royalist Party and the Social Democratic Party) both fielded candidates with the Royalist Party Member, Scipion, destroyed his opponent in an election which saw him win a comfortable majority of 8 votes.
This result meant that the Royalist Party would continue to dominate the Council with the Social Democrats still with a minority Government though the Royalist Party is currently in support. The Empress closed the election after 24 hours, and the turnout of 16 votes within that period is confirmation of the thriving democracy that has been had since the introduction of the Party System within the New Inquisition. Royalist Party Leader, Sir Pitt, commented:
We are thrilled with this result, it shows that we are the Party that is driving this region forward and that the confidence of the region rests with us rather then the Social Democrats at this time. We plan to keep it that way.
Legislation Moved Forward

The Council has also seen fresh legislation presented to it over the pass few weeks. With the 'Flag Act 2007' set to pass which will change the flag of the region for the third time and the 'Ministerial Access Act 2007' which shall define the powers of the moderators and allow for the Empress to give powers to others to moderate certain areas of the forum.
There are also plans for a new military legislative act to be crafted and the Royalists are currently planning new legislation on the creation of more honours for members of the region. The Government has yet to set out a clear agenda as of yet however and this will be a problem for it come election if improvements are not made.

Foreign Office Switch Up
Northern Hellas, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs announced on December 10th that he would be leaving on a trip to Greece on December 17th and would not return until the 18th of January. Therefore, on December 24th, Peaceful Llamas was appointed to be MoFA.
So far, Peaceful Llamas' actions as MoFA have been: Writing this update, increasing the size of the Foreign Service and granting a few embassies.

Much Legislation
Since the last update, the Reichstag has voted on and discussed many pieces of legislation. These include a Defense and Intelligence-sharing treaty with Europeia (found here)
, the "Symbols Act", which officially establishes a coat of arms and an anthem. (found here,
an amendment reducing the number of days that legislation needs to be discussed before being brought to a vote, from seven (7) to four (4) and the "Intelligence Services Restructuring Act" which restructures the Intelligence Services and makes them the "The Imperial Security and Intelligence Service (ISIS)" The most controversial act proposed is th "Forum Administration Act" by Carraterra. It would give the Ministerpräsident and DMP admin powers, among other things and is intensely disliked by many.
Winter Vacation Lull
As expected, there has been a lull of activity recently, but it was not to bad. The Reichstag has still been fairly active and so has the Foreign Ministry.

New Government! CIP member as MP for First Time!
There's a new Ministerpräsident in town! In the Reichstag elections, the CPS and CRP both got four seats, and the CIP got one. Therefore, the CPS went in to coalition with the CIP and the new MP is the sole CIP Reichstag Delegate, Frenchman At Heart. He promptly put forward a tri-partisan cabinet, with four CPS members, two CIP members, one CRP member, and one independent.
He surprised people by appointing two Ministers without Portfolios, Northern Hellas, and Carraterra. He also nominated Carraterra as President (speaker) of the Reichstag. The cabinet looked like this:

Cabinet Changes
The cabinet did not stay looking like that for long though. On January 23rd, since Harshhaven had become prince and retired from all positions and since RSH had been extremely inactive, (to the point that his nation was deleted) they were replaced. Carraterra became Home Secretary, and Nothern Hellas became Minister of Culture. This cabinet was not to last either. On Febuary 5th, Carraterra resigned from all positions without giving a reason (though he later admitted that it was because he had realized that NS “sucks”). He was replaced by High Spymaster Ulgar and the by-election for his Reichstag seat is going into it's second round, since it ended in a tie. A few days later, on Febuary 9th, another blow was struck; Northern Hellas resigned as Minister of Culture. This is what he said:
When asked why, he stated :
He was replaced my Scipion as MoC, but will remain a Delegate until the end of this term.
Reconciliation
Many who recall the early history of TNI will remember that there is a split off region from her called The Inquisition Republic. This region came about during the revolution of October 2006 when supporters of Anumia left, or were ejected from TNI for trying to force the monarch to sign away her power and for attacking free speech by banning TNI citizens for simply expressing an opinion. On the other side of the coin, the revolutionaries felt they had no choice but to take action against the Kaiserin's misuse of power to allow elections to be rigged and foreign influences entre the region. The fighting between the two regions however has now ceased as of January this year.
Early that month, Julian Anumia, monarch of Nova Imperium posted the following message for The New Inquisition.
Kaiserin Griffin responded thus:
Julian Anumia has since returned to TNI, though admittedly he had a nation there all along, and a future between the two regions looks promising. They have already worked together on a military operation, and the history of TNI can now be written in full with access to the forums of TIR.

UN delegate elections
Following the untimely and accidental death of the longest serving TNI UN delegate, The Really Sinister Hegemon, elections were called for the position on the 5th of Febuary.
Unlike the last election however, this one was well contested with 5 candidates wanting the job. Peaceful Llamas, the current foreign Minister, Carraterra, the former Home Minister, High Spymaster Ulgar, former Realm Chancellor, Crazy Democrazy, former judge and current Reichstag delegate and also new and fresh member Nu_Krypton all campaigned for the position.
While many people voted, the results of this election were conclusive.
The number of votes cast however is a testament to how active a community TNI now is.
Crazy Democrazy has since officially taken on the role and received the necessary endorsements after a small discrepancy between a player trying to gain the position on the RMB of the region. He has already started looking at proposals from other TNI members and also posting up the resolutions as they arrive.
Prince, Lords and Honours
A new addition to the Family
Late last month, his Highness Crown Prince North East Somerset made a very important announcement which has changed the way TNI has been working for the past year and a half.
Harshhaven was selected by Crown Prince NES to be raised to Prince and given admin powers due to the will of the Reichstag to have forum administration run more smoothly. The decision was made by NES as he and the Kaiserin decided that since she was allowed to choose her heir, this was only right and orderly.
In his speech, Crown Prince NES said:
This news was well received by all members of the region. Harshhaven himself said:
The new prince has now stepped down from his roles in cabinet and resigned his membership of political groups within the region. With him on board as another administrator, along with the new adition of the Director General of TNI's new intelligence service, ISIS, admin requests are expected to be processed far quicker than ever before.

General Election Results in Royalist Victory
In an unexpected General Election surprise, the new reformed Royalist Party managed to secure a majority in the Reichstag. Polls had indicated that a Progressive Democracy/People's Imperialist Party victory was more likely. However in an election which was tempered with problems with the forums, turnout was still reasonably high.
The voting was as follows:
The Royalist Party: 42.63%
The Progressive Democrats: 34.74%
The People's Imperialist Party: 18.42%
Others: 4.21%
In the second round, where candidate voting was taken into account, that meant that the Royalists achieved 6 seats, the Progressive Democrats 4 Seats and the PIP 1 Seat.
Chairman of the Royalist Party and Reich Chancellor Candidate, Sir Pitt was soon confirmed by the Reichstag as the new Reich Chancellor and appointed his Cabinet as follows:

The Government has set recruitment and the re-starting of the Sovereign Regions Alliance Treaty Organisation (SRATO) as it's main aim. The region has been suffering from a dip in recruitment lately and SRATO had been seen by many to have stalled.
Kaiserin and Crown Prince Marry
The Kaiserin has married her Crown Prince and heir, North East Somerset, and made him her Kaiser Consort. It is hoped that this strengthening of the Royal Family shall make the line of succession more stable and further enhance the ability of the Royal Family to serve the needs of the region. The Kaiserin had married the King of Hampshire previously, however an amicable divorce allowed for the Kaiserin to marry her Crown Prince.
The Crown Prince, North East Somerset, will not recieve any increase in his power and will retain his previous positions however he will now been known as His Majesty The Kaiser Consort. As part of the wedding, the Kaiserin has taken the surname of her husband and is now: Viktoria Gryfnn Saxe-Sommerdersatz
The Kaiserin's wedding saw visits from The King of The Last Kingdom and The Prince of Wales from Great Britain and Ireland. North East Somerset is also King of Great Britain and Ireland. The Kaiser Consort is still the heir apparent to the Kaiserin and he remains first in line to the throne. His Royal Highness, Harshhaven, shall remain second in line to the thrown after the Kaiser Consort.
The Wedding
Upturn in Publishing within New Inquisition
The printing presses have been whirling away as The New Inquisition has had a large increase in the amount of newspapers published within the region. The two most notable newcomers are Quis and The Royalist Observer with The Imperial Chronicle and The Loyalist Times continuing to represent the old guard.
The increase in newspaper publishing is both in due to the increase in activity amongst some of the more senior members of the region as well as the recent political events surrounding the last General Election and the fall out. The Royalist Observer was the most read newspaper at last count however The Loyalist Times and The Imperial Chronicle have since published. The Royalist Observer is firmly on the right with Quis (though Quis is in a tabloid format compared to Royalist's broadsheet style). The Imperial Chronicle can be described as centre-right to centre representing the views of His Royal Highness Harshhaven. The Loyalist Times also tends to lean more to the right of the political spectrum being edited by Royalist, JCMR.
There are hopes that this continued fevered publishing will continue and help to stimulate debate across the region.
People's Choice Awards Announced
Subjects of The New Inquisition eagerly anticipated the People's Choice Awards which allow members of the region to vote for their favourites in a range of categories. The Kaiserin and new Kaiser Consort shared the award for best Royal and former citizen Carra further managed to win 'Most Evil Member'. H.P. Lovecraft picked up Best Delegate and Lethen (now a Delegate) won Best Lord.
Belgium Fighters, Tiberius Deorum and Harshhaven all had to share the TNI's Favourite Member however.
The Awards were voted for by some 15 members of the region however the length of the awards period may have left some people unsure of what to do, unfortunately tempered with the ill health of the Kaiserin. However thankfully she has recovered from her operation and the Awards had been a nice change from the political rough and tumble within the region.
SRATO Announcements
After some time without action, the Sovereign Regions Alliance Treaty Organisation has made some announcements with regards to it's work.
Amendments have been made to the Treaty to allow for the creation of an offsite forum located here.
Europeia has been welcomed into the organisation but The United Kingdom was rejected although it will have it's application reconsidered after new information emerged.
The first Secretary-General has also been announced, Sir Pitt of The New Inquisition will take the post which involves running the Secretariat of the organisation.

Royalists Secure Electoral Victory
The Royalist Party has won another term in Government after heavily defeating the Opposition Coalition in the General Election. The Royalist Party managed to secure over 50% of the vote and 6 seats in the Reichstag, thus ensuring that the Royalists would continue to form the next Government. The previous Reich Chancellor, Sir Pitt, was confirmed as Royalist Candidate for the Office and was confirmed by the Reichstag in an eventful election. The results were as follows:
The Royalist Party: 50.47% (+7.84%) - 6 Seats
The Progressive Democrats-People's Imperialist Party: 38.68% (-14.48%) - 3 Seats
The Community Alliance Party: 0.47% (N/A)
Others: 10.38%(+6.17%)
The last two seats were won in a by-election by Alarm Siren (Independent) and HP Lovecraft (Progressive Democrat). They defeated Progressive Democrat Reich Chancellor Candidate, Adrianos Manicomio. Alarm Siren went on to be nominated for the Reich Chancellor role by the Opposition however in an unfortunate piece of luck the Royalist Delegate, Belgium Fighters, was unable to get online. This meant that Alarm Siren and Sir Pitt were tied on five voters each until Alarm Siren stood down in order to allow Sir Pitt to get about forming his new Cabinet. Within a short space of his confirmation, Sir Pitt revealed the new Cabinet:
TNP - TNI At War
The New Inquisition declared war on The North Pacific in support of The Empire of The East Pacific. The East Pacific and Gatesville were already at war, and The New Inquisition a supporter and friend of The Empire declared war shortly after in order to help the legitimate Government of the region. Hostilities had been created due to actions taken by some of the citizens of The North Pacific in trying to destabilise the Government of The East Pacific. The North Pacific Government has done and continues to do nothing to stop these rogue citizens from damaging The Empire of The East Pacific. The Government of The New Inquisition in order to support The Empress of The East Pacific and her Government, declared war against The North Pacific.
The Reich Chancellor, Sir Pitt, made this statement:
Population Record Broken
The previous Population Record of 437 nations was beaten on Friday 12th September 2008, as recruiters managed to well and truly confirm the rise of The New Inquisition in the population stakes. The Recruitment Orders System has been credited with a massive rise in telegrams with over 4,000 Telegrams sent in the past four weeks at around 150 per day. This is a marked improvement from the situation when at the start of the last term, the region was at 348 nations. This increase of around 20% has come in the space of just 8 weeks and is truly a remarkable achievement for the region.
The region currently sits as the 11th Largest in Nationstates, and is the 4th Largest Player Created Region in Nationstates.
The New Inquisition is on 447 Nations (at the time of print) a new record in itself, up from an earlier record set on Sunday 14th September of 445 Nations.
The Government's next target is said to be achieve 500 nations. The Government is also believed to be taking steps to reform the Naturalisation and Immigration Departments of the region further in order to achieve maximum output in both terms of recruits made and getting them processed onto the forums.

In subsequent elections, Joshua IX was re-elected Reich Chancellor and Carraterra was elected to the position of President of the Reichstag.
Joshua’s cabinet was given a reshuffle, with Captain Hudson and Dominius Aurelius retaining their positions in the Home and War Offices, Tennekee moved to the Culture Office, and new cabinet members Tyranna appointed as Deputy Reich Chancellor, H.P. Lovecraft as Foreign Secretary and Arcnor as a Minister without Portfolio. (Arcnor has since been given a new position as Attorney General, and Cerebella added to Cabinet as a Minister Without Portfolio.)
Joshua said of his re-election “So begins my second term in office as your Reich Chancellor. I'd like to begin by thanking the large proportion of the election that supported my government and the 30 people that voted for me personally as a delegate candidate - I am most flattered and I do not intend to let you down. On the contrary, this term will hopefully be more productive, more beneficial to you and more exciting than the last. I am truly looking forward to my continued governance over the region.”
Michael the Great Man, leader of the Royalist Party, promised a more active opposition this term, and the Royalist Party recently selected Marquis Belgium Fighters as its new Chairman.
Alliance with Europeia Tested in Diplomatic Standoff
Tensions increased briefly between allies TNI and Europeia recently after TNI officials received word that Europeia had participated in a military operation with TNI’s enemies the Founderless Regions Alliance. While Europeia was adamanant that its action would not put it in direct conflict with TNI in the field, the government of TNI felt that these actions compromised the military alliance between the two regions.
A tense negotiation followed involving TNI’s Foreign Secretary, H.P. Lovecraft and Europeia’s Grand Admiral Lethen and Supreme Chancellor HEM, with both sides having difficulty in finding a meeting point between their positions on the issue. A compromise was later reached between TNI’s Reich Chancellor Joshua IX and Europeia’s President Lexus X, with Europeia agreeing to limit its military involvement with the FRA to one-on-one wargames. The relationship between the two regions appears to have weathered the storm, with the allies co-operating in a successful raid on the region Zombie Apocalypse Survival with fellow SRATO member Great Britain and Ireland.
Continued Debate on Colonies
One month since the government announced its intent to sever TNI’s non-viable colonies, the process of de-colonisation is continuing. Brandenburg and Florence were removed from the Empire directly following the announcement, but the colony of Hudson Bay is enshrined in legislation and is officially a part of the Empire even though the region no longer has any ties to The New Inquisition. A motion to repeal the Hudson Bay Act is at vote in the Herrenhaus, and is close to being rejected.
Paradoxically however, the Diet has been debating an act that would establish The New Age more officially as a colony of The New Inquisition. This came about after Marquis Belgium Fighters offered to personally build the colony to a viable size, which received lukewarm support from the Government and its Reichstag delegates a they felt it would cause no harm for a citizen to take on the colony as a personal project. However, Marquis Belgium Fighters has since withdrawn his offer in order to focus his efforts on the Royalist Party, and the act is unlikely to pass the Reichstag.
The Government continues to support the colony of The Imperial Dominion, which has prospered through the efforts of citizens Wullamudulla and Terribad.
Success for the TNI Armed Forces
TNI’s military, which took a break over the New Year period after its success in Bellview last year, has already achieved two victories this year. The TNIAF conquered the region Alliance of Dictators on Sunday the 11th, angering several minor despots in other regions, who lamented the ironic oppression of their allies, as well as the widespread consumption of beer by TNI’s celebrating troops. The occupation also saw a counter-invasion by a tiny force of defenders, who were swiftly ejected.
The TNIAF pulled out of the region after several days in order to join their allies in SRATO in a further victory in the region Zombie Apocalypse Survival on Friday the 16th. Once again defender activity was minor and posed no threat to the invading forces.
In other military news, the War Office has unveiled a set of medals to reward soldiers for frequent participation in raids. The conditions for receiving these medals is currently under discussion.
Justice Department established
Reich Chancellor Joshua IX announced the establishment of a new Justice Department. The architect of the department, Arcnor, is its first Attorney General. The department was established through an executive order by the Reich Chancellor as a branch of the government, with the Attorney General sitting in Cabinet. It is intended to serve as an advisory body, to provide legal representation to any TNI citizen in need of it and to prosecute cases in the public interest.
Earlier attempts to establish a Justice Department through legislation received opposition, and the scope of the department was narrowed before being established in its current form.
Arcnor has named Wullamudulla as his deputy and Peaceful Llamas as an attorney, and the department’s first act will be to investigate the controversy over long-term TNI member Carraterra’s banning and re-entry into the region.

- TNI invaded the city of London recently, as TNIers Kaiserin Griffin, Citizen Tinsy, Earl J. Grey, Tennekee, Harshhaven , Cerebella and Moleytov met up for such activities as attempting to start a revolution in Sainsbury’s. As of update time the workers of Sainsbury’s remain oppressed by their capitalist masters
- A revolution was more successful in TNI’s Royalist Society, where a newcomer to TNI, Sir Stanley, ousted absent Chair Pai’ge to become head of the society.
- The roleplay section has seen a promising start to TNI’s first game of Dungeons and Dragons, with Chuck Anumia as DM with some assistance from Tennekee. An ill-matched group of humanoids is currently attempting to kill giant rats without damaging them too much, but from the maniacal laughter occasionally coming from Chuck they may be in for a few surprises...
- Reich Chancellor Joshua IX admits to grossly abusing a certain well-known mood-altering leafy drug. In a binge reminiscent of the TV show Futurama, Joshua consumed approximately 50 cups of tea within 24 hours and reported to the region that he felt awful, prompting his wife Tyranna to comment “I’m married to an idiot!”. Joshua has since recovered and has presumably been indulging his addiction with a little more restraint.
- TNI expands its diplomatic relations, with talks underway with Hampshire over greater military and cultural interaction, and a new embassy in the Commonwealth.

In the Diet
By-elections were held to replace Florence de Peyser and Michael the Great Man, who both resigned. The Graz and Dominius Aurelius were elected, and this caused a vote for a new Government.
Stanley Smith McMahon was acting Reich Chancellor for several days while the voting went on to elect H.P. Lovecraft unanimously Reich Chancellor. There was no-one who stood to oppose him, though Smurfosity and The Graz were both nominated.
Legislatively, several bills sit awaiting Royal Assent after having recently passed the Herrenhaus.

Most recently, though, an entirely new constitution proposed by Arcnor and debated for some time in the lobby of the Diet has been formally presented on the floor of the House by acting Reichstag President Moleytov (President R3nnaissanc3r is on vacation).
This constitution gives the Reich Chancellor noted new powers, and removes the royal assent to ministers that has been necessary in the past.
Mere hours ago, long-time delegate and former Reich Chancellor Joshua IX resigned as well. It is totally unknown who will take his seat, though most can agree that nobody can take his place.
In the Government
Reich Chancellor H.P. Lovecraft sat in stasis for over 50 hours before being masked, then was ignored for some time in his cabinet requests (the Kaiserin must, at the moment, approve of these appointments). However, as soon as he made the traditional government speech, the masks were applied smartly by DGISIS OnderKelkia, and the government finally got on its feet.
Population has fallen below 200, though the Home Office is working hard to reverse this most horrid turn of events.
The Royalist Party has been revived with new membership and seems prepared to offer an active opposition.

It was recently exposed that the account of former government member Pa'ige Claire Pitt-Somerset was actually owned by Kaiserin Griffin. In an outraged address, former Reich Chancellor Joshua Anumia called for her abdication, as the possession of two accounts (and voting thereon) to him constituted election fraud.
A massive debate began between Archduke Sir Pitt, War Sectretary Dominius Aurelius, and Foreign Secretary Graz as to what this would mean if true. Sir Pitt claimed that the Kaiserin was in the right no matter what she did, DA viewed it as monstrous, and Graz seemed to attempt to walk the middle line (most see him as having mostly sided with DA, however).
Kaiserin Griffin said that her friend, who had been Pa'ige, had bequeathed the account to her upon her departure. Baron Alarm Siren, electoral commissioner of TNI, was then given possession of the account, and he claimed that the account had not voted in an election since September 2008, when her Imperial Majesty claimed to have obtained the account in December.
Neither party has issued a statement on the subject, and the government has chosen not to issue one either, but Wilhelm Somerset and OnderKelkia, the other admins, have been asked to verify claims concerning the change of hands of the account in question.
Since then, the Pa'ige account has been confiscated by the Electoral Commission, and the password changed.
More information will be provided in the following Update as to the state of any legal action against her Imperial Majesty, or any fallout not herein described.

In the Diet
The Reichstag has held what may be its last vote, shooting down another amendment to the Military Administration Act, before elections, which are to take place any day.
The Proportional Representation system leaves the outcome very unclear, as the advantages it grants to independent candidates (several strong ones include Julian Anumia, Chuck W. Anumia, and Florence de Peyser).
Several bills have been being discussed since last update. The following have passed the Reichstag and sit awaiting the Herrenhaus' verdict.

The Royalist Party has nominated Foreign Secretary Graz to challenge the Reich Chancellery, and only the election itself will tell who will win.
The government has been working at reviving SRATO, with no success yet, though hopes remain high.

After comments by the FRA at a summit hosted by the EoE, her Imperial Majesty's armed forces took possession of South America, and are at this moment forcing the FRA to realize that their petty honor and digniry are more important to them than their missions by forcing them to apologize to save the region from destruction.
In the Polls
Elections concluded with a startling finish. The Royalist Party, which seemed to be rolling down the mountain, was chastened when all three independent delegates voted against them, when privately they had been certain of two out of three of them. Their complaint was that the Royalist cabinet proposal was flawed; the PD cabinet proposal not being complete, they took the benefit of the doubt, and voted that way.
In the Diet
The Herrenhaus' slow pace of going through legislation has prompted the Royalist Party Leader, Oliver Graz, to submit a piece of legislation curtailing their rights to hold onto legislation for thirty days, and their right to keep their seats after more than seven weeks' inactivity.
The legislation, once submitted, became subject to even more stringent cuts, so that delegate Graz actually voted against the bill, the lone dissenter. The Herrenhaus has reworked the bill slightly, and has attempted to use its right of self-government through Standing Orders to affirm its own ability to keep and hold legislation, while recognizing that the times need be kept shorter than before. Delegate Graz has announced that the Royalist Party is against an override vote by the Reichstag, which would pass the original bill over the Herrenhaus' head.
This is the most controversial issue before the Diet, with some smaller pieces bringing home the rest of the bacon for constituents.

Culture Secretary Resigns
Earlier today Secretary of State for Culture, Florence de Peyser resigned both her ministerial positon and her seat in the Reichstag citing the need to spend more time in the shower. This shock resignation has surprised a number of people. The Reich Chancellor was quick to promote former Culture Secretary Viscount Tennekee to the position who has set out a number of ambitious plans that he wishes to achieve in the remaining time left in the term. It is doubtful that a by-election will be held as the term is soon coming to an end.
Change of Leader for Ruling Party written by Captain Hudson
Last week, the leadership of the governing Progressive Democrat party again changed hands, with the incumbent, Dominius Aurelius being ousted by the new Party Leader, Captain Hudson. Captain Hudson, therefore, is the next Reich Chancellor candidate for the Progressive Democrat Party. The Progressive Democrat Party is currently riding high in the opinion polls, and it is likely that they will be re-elected for another term in office – making Captain Hudson the new Reich Chancellor of the New Inquisition.
He is interested in strengthening foreign ties with all allies, and so if you have any questions for Mr. Hudson, then please contact your TNI ambassador, and they will pass on any messages you may have.
New Party Formed
Former Royalist Party Leader Oliver Graz recently founded a new party, The Conservative Honour Party. In an opening address that attacked the 'hate' culture of politics Graz pledged that his party would be one of dialogue and disscussion rather than conflict. While the party has come under fire from a number of figures in the region, it's membership has risen fast attracting a significant number of newer citizens and it will be interesting to see how it fares in the next general election.

Diet Legal Review (DLR)
The Diet Legal Review is meant to provide the region with a perspective of recent events within the Diet and legal system. The Review is meant only to cover the legal aspects of Acts and Amendments and not the Political implications. The DLR is meant to be as political neutral as possible.
- Recently Passed Acts -
Cabinet Accountability Amendment
The Cabinet Accountability Amendment became law May 19th, 2009. The Constitutional amendment’s main legal purpose was to require that the various Government departments and the Reich Chancellor fall under the oversight of the Reichstag. It further requires the Government to report to the Reichstag on the various actions and concerns of the Government.
The Treaty of Bavaria (Repeal)
The Treaty of Bavaria (Repeal) became law June 2nd, 2009. The act quite simply ends TNI’s commitments under the Treaty of Bavaria. The Treaty of Bavaria established a foreign connection between TNI and Mencer. The connection included military operations, defense, intelligence sharing, and various other areas of diplomacy. The Treaty is now void.
SRATO Evacuation Act
The SRATO Evacuation Act became law June 10th, 2009. The act ends TNI’s commitments to the multiregional organization SRATO. This mainly included military and intelligence commitments; however multiregional diplomacy was a key concept behind the SRATO. With TNI’s departure from the SRATO, the SRATO has effective ceased to exist as a functioning body.
Treaty of Wexford
The Treaty of Wexford became law June 11th, 2009. This new Treaty replaces the current Treaty between TNI and Europeia. The new treaty includes new language on culture exchange, military operations, intelligence, and other diplomatic matters. The Treaty has been the ongoing progress of the Foreign Office. Europeia is now moving the treaty through its legislative process.

Herrenhaus Activity Amendment
The Herrenhaus Activity Amendment is currently being debated within the halls of the Reichstag. The main principal behind the amendment is to increase the efficiency of the Legislative process within the Herrenhaus. This includes changing the Lords in Abstention rule and the voting rules of the Herrenhaus. The hope is that with the changes the Herrenhaus will be more active and efficient.
Puisine Richter Amendment
The Puisine Richter Amendment is currently under discussion within the Reichstag; the amendment creates a term for the two Puisne Richters. The amendment ends life terms for the twp Puisne Richters and instead creates 140 day terms. At the end of the 140 days, the appointment process will either reaffirm the current Richters or affirm new Richters for the Court. There is no limit to the number of times an individual can be reappointed to the Court.
University Act

This Reichstag Order lays out the rules to govern Reich Chancellor reports and timing of such reports. The order states the timing of the Reich Chancellor’s reports to be the first week after appointment and the 4th and 7th week of the RC’s term. Culture Secretary Resigns
Earlier today Secretary of State for Culture, Florence de Peyser resigned both her ministerial positon and her seat in the Reichstag citing the need to spend more time in the shower. This shock resignation has surprised a number of people. The Reich Chancellor was quick to promote former Culture Secretary Viscount Tennekee to the position who has set out a number of ambitious plans that he wishes to achieve in the remaining time left in the term. It is doubtful that a by-election will be held as the term is soon coming to an end.
Change of Leader for Ruling Party written by Captain Hudson
Last week, the leadership of the governing Progressive Democrat party again changed hands, with the incumbent, Dominius Aurelius being ousted by the new Party Leader, Captain Hudson. Captain Hudson, therefore, is the next Reich Chancellor candidate for the Progressive Democrat Party. The Progressive Democrat Party is currently riding high in the opinion polls, and it is likely that they will be re-elected for another term in office – making Captain Hudson the new Reich Chancellor of the New Inquisition.
He is interested in strengthening foreign ties with all allies, and so if you have any questions for Mr. Hudson, then please contact your TNI ambassador, and they will pass on any messages you may have.
New Party Formed
Former Royalist Party Leader Oliver Graz recently founded a new party, The Conservative Honour Party. In an opening address that attacked the 'hate' culture of politics Graz pledged that his party would be one of dialogue and disscussion rather than conflict. While the party has come under fire from a number of figures in the region, it's membership has risen fast attracting a significant number of newer citizens and it will be interesting to see how it fares in the next general election.

The Diet Legal Review is meant to provide the region with a perspective of recent events within the Diet and legal system. The Review is meant only to cover the legal aspects of Acts and Amendments and not the Political implications. The DLR is meant to be as political neutral as possible.

Cabinet Accountability Amendment
The Cabinet Accountability Amendment became law May 19th, 2009. The Constitutional amendment’s main legal purpose was to require that the various Government departments and the Reich Chancellor fall under the oversight of the Reichstag. It further requires the Government to report to the Reichstag on the various actions and concerns of the Government.
The Treaty of Bavaria (Repeal)
The Treaty of Bavaria (Repeal) became law June 2nd, 2009. The act quite simply ends TNI’s commitments under the Treaty of Bavaria. The Treaty of Bavaria established a foreign connection between TNI and Mencer. The connection included military operations, defense, intelligence sharing, and various other areas of diplomacy. The Treaty is now void.
SRATO Evacuation Act
The SRATO Evacuation Act became law June 10th, 2009. The act ends TNI’s commitments to the multiregional organization SRATO. This mainly included military and intelligence commitments; however multiregional diplomacy was a key concept behind the SRATO. With TNI’s departure from the SRATO, the SRATO has effective ceased to exist as a functioning body.
Treaty of Wexford
The Treaty of Wexford became law June 11th, 2009. This new Treaty replaces the current Treaty between TNI and Europeia. The new treaty includes new language on culture exchange, military operations, intelligence, and other diplomatic matters. The Treaty has been the ongoing progress of the Foreign Office. Europeia is now moving the treaty through its legislative process.

Herrenhaus Activity Amendment
The Herrenhaus Activity Amendment is currently being debated within the halls of the Reichstag. The main principal behind the amendment is to increase the efficiency of the Legislative process within the Herrenhaus. This includes changing the Lords in Abstention rule and the voting rules of the Herrenhaus. The hope is that with the changes the Herrenhaus will be more active and efficient.
Puisine Richter Amendment
The Puisine Richter Amendment is currently under discussion within the Reichstag; the amendment creates a term for the two Puisne Richters. The amendment ends life terms for the twp Puisne Richters and instead creates 140 day terms. At the end of the 140 days, the appointment process will either reaffirm the current Richters or affirm new Richters for the Court. There is no limit to the number of times an individual can be reappointed to the Court.

Crown Prince takes the Reich Chancellery ??
In a surprising turn of events for a region that has often seen heated debate over the influence of the monarchy over the government affairs, TNI’s Crown Prince, His Imperial Highness Michael Christopher Somerset was elected to the post of Reich Chancellor. Michael contested the post against Salohcin (formerly Alarm Siren), another member of the royal family albeit one who is not in line to the throne.
The new Reich Chancellor’s opening address received a generally warm reception from the people of TNI, with wishes of good luck and a few warnings that the government’s progress would be watched closely. Julian Anumia, in his role as curmudgeonly observer to TNI politics was less impressed, calling the election a disgusting occurrence and wishing “Good luck, Michael: May your Administration see TNI's fortunes increase once more, so that this will never happen again”. Tyranna, who was quite possibly joking, responded with “IT'S A ROYALIST CONSPIRACY I TELL YOUZZ!!”
Lean, mean Government for TNI??
The new Reich Chancellor’s first policy was to significantly restructure TNI’s cabinet system. In a reversal of the recent tendency for large-some would say bloated-cabinets, Michael appointed four Ministers to larger, more broad-ranging Ministries. His rival for Reich Chancellor, Salohcin, was made Deputy Reich Chancellor and head of TNI’s new civil service. The Home and Justice Offices were condensed to the new Ministry of the Interior, under Captain Hudson; the War and Foreign Offices were combined in the Ministry of the Exterior under H.P. Lovecraft and finally Wullamudulla was appointed Minister of Culture, in charge of the areas of community, events and information.
The new civil service scheme headed by Salohcin was tasked with formally appointing undersecretaries to run the various areas within each Ministry. Undersecretaries appointed so far under the scheme have been:
- Stanley Smith McMahon – Information, communications and Media
- C. I. Cerebella – Foreign service
- Olde Delaware – Military
- Royal Aston – Culture
After a lull in military activity, the TNI Armed Forces has had a new lease of life recently. After the successful occupation and refounding of the Abyss region, TNI’s military has also achieved victories in The Genesis Federation and Marxist-Leninist Party. The latter raid was dedicated to TNI’s former Prince HarshHaven, whose economic liberal views were no obstacle to his being worshipped in the form of the Revolutionary Marxist-Leninist Harshy Party (and far superior rival, the Marxist-Leninist-Harshyist Revolutionary Front).
But back to the point: Reich Chancellor Michael Christopher Somerset has insisted on regular military operations, and the TNIAF’s commander Dominius Aurelius is committed to raising the TNI Flag of War as often as possible.
Everybody wins
Another disappointing General Election was held on October 10, with only eleven candidates running for the Reichstag’s eleven seats.

Many in the region believe that the size of the Reichstag needs to be reduced in order to bring back competition to TNI politics.
However, a bill authored by TNI’s legislator extraordinaire, Jet Black, to remedy this situation was recently defeated in the Reichstag. The law would have allowed the size of the Reichstag to vary depending on the number of candidates running during each election, but within reasonable limits. It is unclear what the region’s legislators will do next, but the Diet must work hard to produce a solution before the next election.

Conservative Takes The Reich Chancellery ??
Long time Reichstag Delegate and former Deputy Reich Chancellor Stanley Smith MacMahon assumed the Reich Chancellery after winning 6 votes from fellow Reichstag Delegates. He assumed office after Michael was unanimously removed from the highest office of the land due to inactivity. Stanley was elected on the premise of generating new activity and turning back TNI to its former glory of progress and hope. The Reich Chancellor has also pledged in his opening address that he is committed to "bring back the fortunes of the region".
Reich Chancellor Stanley switftly unveiled a Government that is deemed inclusive, reaching out to old political rivals like Carraterra. He feels that it is important "to show that unity is integral as we march towards the progress path."
Reich Chancellor, Foreign Minister embarks on International Tour??
The new Reich Chancellor’s immediate step was to accelerate the implementation of the New Atlantic Alliance Treaty that had been ratified by both the Reichstag and HoL. He and Foreign Minister Olde Delaware has embarked on an international tour starting from the LKE to beef support for the Treaty. "We hope that by the end of these visits, we can press our counterparts to ratifying the Treaty, and at the same time, enable us to formally establish a common platform and space to carry out raids. Our culmination of our efforts are aimed at one thing; the birth of a raiding alliance that is on par, if not better, than the FRA and its allies in terms of prestige, performance and reputation." With this new treaty in place, TNI remains an innovative piece of the raider world in the greater Nationstates world.
Recruitment Progress
Home Minister Salochin Clavell had recently came up with a novel and creative invention of recruiting that has spawned an increase in the total number of people recruiting in the region. Hopefully, with an agressive and attractive recruitment mechanism in place, the TNI population will reach levels never seen before. Integration and assimilation efforts championed by the Reich Chancellor - the sending of a personalised PM to every new citizen outlining the TNI constiution, values and government - are also in the pipelines in the Home Office.
New LKE/TNI Treaty
The Government is also proposing, and studying, a treaty of alliance and partnership with the Government of the LKE, with the hope of escalating the friendship and bi-ties between both the regions. The Treaty will soon be passed to the Reichstag and Lords for ratification.
Long awaited marriage of TNI's Kaiserin to happen This Month
The long awaited marriage of Kaiserin Viktoria Griffin Somerset to Sir Oliver Foster Graz von Guelderlaand is expected to happen soon. The initial ceremony will occur on the TNI forums with the reception happening on the forums of our friends in The Kodiak Republic. As always with the weddings of heads of state, the TNI Foreign Office has been working overtime to issue invitations to many of our friends and allies across the Nationstates world. The Culture Minister has also been busy preparing for this grand occassion, trying to generate creative and innovative ways of making guests as comfortable as possible in TNI. Greetings,
Today the FRA member Sedgistan proposed a World Assembly Resolution to Liberate Free Thought condemning The New Inquisition's role in the process. In the proposal the Land of King's and Emperors, Unknown and TNI are accused of griefing the region due to an 'over-reaction to harmless jibes' about the LKE's flag.
Our involvement in this was and is as an ally to the LKE in their action act of war between soverign regions. This happened after the insult to the LKE's flag following a standard raid and was an operation involving Europeia as well as the aforementioned regions.
This action is a blatent attack on the right of soverign regions to wage war and it is a political attack against ourselves and our allies Unkown and the LKE. Our close allies and friends Europeia actually contributed more soldiers than Unknown but have been omitted, through no fault of their own, seemingly due to the fact that senior FRA members are involved there thus making it a personal attack on the raiding community rather than an attack on this particular raid.
Sedgistan's proposal is an affront to every region's choice and ability to wage war and to expand Imperial Empires. It is an attack on the very choice of every individual to raid should they desire. It is a slanderous proposal that misconstrues the the actions of ourselves and our friends in order to win the votes of more Delegates and WA members.
This is unacceptable. It is our legitimate right as a soverign region to choose to help occupy and take over Free Thought. TNI will stand up to this attempt to abridge this right and take us one step closer to removing our right to raid all together. We call on all our citizens, all our friends and all our allies to stand up to this and be vocal against this propsal. The raiding community must not be allowed to be pushed over and have our rights attacked!

I strongly urge the WAD for this esteemed region to change his vote from FOR the resolution, to AGAINST it. It is a slap in the face to the raider way of life, and would unequally give greater support to defenders. The simple fact is that the raider-defender dynamic should stick to battles over target regions. Not proposals. By voting AGAINST the resolution, you wouldn't be voting for raiders. Statement to Foreign Heads of State & Government
May 7th, 2010
To my fellow Heads of State & Government,
For those of you who do not know me, I am Artorius Arcnor, the newly elected Reich Chancellor of New Inquisition. I have had the opportunity to hold this great honor and serve my region in this high office for only a few days now, but within those few days much has happened.
As many of you were informed yesterday, the Prince stole the Kaiserin’s forum account from her, causing for sometime great unrest within New Inquisition. The reasoning for his actions was based upon the Kaiserin’s activity and past actions within the region. His action was greeted with applause and celebration by some, while others stood firmly against it. However, through the efforts of many, an agreement between the Prince and the Kaiserin has been reached and the Kaiserin’s account has been restored to her. The agreement reached has calmed the situation and will give the region and the Kaiserin an opportunity to make great strides forward for the region.
I can assure you all that at no time was New Inquisition’s military or Government in any state of unrest. The Government acted to preserve the laws of the region and maintained control of all ministries. This incident, through a very high profile Constitutional Crisis, was limited in scope to the Monarchy of the region. I can say with pride that we have resolved this issue internally and the Monarchy and Her Majesty’s Government has already returned to conducting the business of the State.
As some of you may not be aware, we have just enacted a new Constitution. This is a crowning achievement for us, for we have long faced constitutional issues that have held the region back. We have been able to come together and enact a Constitution that shall be our foundation as we move forward.
I understand that there may be some ill feelings toward TNI over our lack of activity and commitment to our allies. I’m here to say very firmly that this region has not and will not turn our back on our allies. We are committed and we will uphold all of our obligations. As well as continue to be there for those in need.
I personally will be visiting several regions over the next week to meet many of you and will hope to work with you to improve relations between our two great regions. New Inquisition has several ideas for improvement within the Inter-regional Community.
Within the next days you will be receiving a full update from our Foreign Office that will shed more light on the new Constitution, our elections, and plans for the future.
I would greatly like to hear from all Heads of Government and spend some time talking with you one on one. To contact me, please just have your Ambassador to TNI inform the Foreign Secretary and I shall make myself available.
