Hello Everyone!

It is time for Delegate Delirium 2026, The North Pacific Delegate’s version of March Madness

First of all, I want to thank Fish and Pallaith for their support with this. This Delegate Delirium would have not been done without you. I would also like to thank Halsoni for giving me permission to host this. (I somehow can't ping anyone)

Without further ado, let’s dive in!

What is Delegate Delirium?

Delegate Delirium is an event that marks Delegates’ Day on September 9th of each year. Delegates’ Day is to honor the past delegates and what they did for us.

Delegate Delirium is an event like March Madness where TNPers vote for their favorite delegate.
This year’s format is a little different. We will be dividing the delegates into pairs and then splitting them into 2 google forms (so you don’t have to overwhelm yourself). You will vote for a winner in each pair, and we will repeat this process until every delegate has fought a few times. Most will fight three times, with a few exceptions fighting fewer or greater times than that. Based on the results of the voting, we will form our round of 32 bracket. We will then move to the round of 16, and 8, then so on, until we have one winner!

Who is eligible to compete?

Whoever has held the seat of delegacy is eligible to compete, however we have decided to exclude 6 delegates, 5 of them for being previous winners and 1 for holding the seat for only one update. These delegates are Lord Ravenclaw, McMasterdonia, SillyString, Siwale, Pallaith, and Groovistan.

Who won in the previous years?

2017: Lord Ravenclaw and McMasterdonia
2018: SillyString
2019: Pallaith
2023: Siwale
2025: Pallaith

Is there a list of all the delegates?

No worries. We have this dispatch with us, which shows delegates, dates, flags, and more: https://www.nationstates.net/page=dispatch/id=335191

When will a specific delegate be playing?

We are one step ahead of you. We prepared a schedule for you!

Let’s start with Part 1 of Round 1 with our pairs. I would like to thank Pallaith for creating all of these pairs and descriptions

You can vote here: https://forms.gle/iFm32SUuqwxSgxj97

Now below is our Pair Descriptions

Cote de Tombolo VS Uugyana
Two delegates from the pre-constitutional era who served a single day. The only fair match for either of them is this one. Which one and done wonder is the best?

Nastic (Nastic and Nastic 2) VS The Twoslit Experiment
These two frequently took the delegacy in their day, even trading it from one to the other at one point, becoming familiar faces and the first truly remembered delegates of the region. Twoslit made the first forum, but Nastic held the original endorsement record. Now they trade blows, and only one can be recognized, who will it be?

Magicality VS Mikestonia
Probably considered the first modern delegate, and first to blaze a constitutional trail right before the constitutional eras, against the (as far as we know) first delegate of TNP. Both made history, both are symbols, both are known only to a small surviving handful of players who were there back in the day.

UPS Rail (Sir Paul) VS Shoeless Joe
Not as strongly remembered for their coups as the coups that would follow them, but they were put up to it by some talented players and played their roles well. Who played it better?

Thel D’Ran VS Sydia
The two honest delegates of the first constitutional era, and each left their mark in their own way. They served for roughly the same amount of time then, though Sydia would go on to serve again under a new constitution, and for much longer. Thel’s name is immortalized on the forum, and a boogeyman to the ADN. Only one of them can stand victorious over the other now.

New Kervoskia VS Grosseschnauzer
Particular styles, quite the reputation, service that seemed to blend into the background despite an impressive internal pedigree for their day. Their names are infamous for different reasons, but they’ve never been forgotten. Who will be remembered as the superior in this contest?

Stars of Sky (Pope Hope) VS Better Times (Ballotonia/Free4all)
These delegates were the caretakers, the ones who held on until the region was ready to move forward with its proper continuation, the heroes who triumphed over the rogues. But which is better, which is the true star?

Pixiedance VS Great Bight (Mammothistan)
Speaking of those infamous rogues the previous pair fought, which titan of evil in TNP’s past was the greatest?

Durkadurkiranistan (JAL) VS Emperor Matthuis
These rogues knew something about legitimate and straightforward service before they took the reins by force, and were better known for their evil turns than their legitimate work. They also have the distinction of having taken the delegacy two separate times.

Novare Res (Romanoffia) VS Sundred (Artemis/Orcale)
Two security councillors who kept the seat warm for a time but never were elected in their own right, and have storied careers in the regions that didn’t involve leading it. Who made the greater impression?

The Democratic Republic of Tomb (Tomb) VS Plembobria
Popular and seemingly coming from nowhere to make their place in history, they wore many hats while in the region and disappeared almost as suddenly as they arrived. Content to be retired and remembered as one in a long line, you may see them pop up unexpectedly, but this battle is the only arena they will ever fight in. Which one will fight on?

El Fiji Grande (Fiji) VS Jamie Anumia (Chimes/Cove)
Lovable and kind, earnest and sometimes in over their head, two delegates who shined when they served and were coming up, but chose to let the spotlight recede after their stint.

Hulldom VS Gorundu
Tied together by fate and controversy, parallels as their career heights fell with terrible crashes. Their names still receive a lot of disrespect all these years later. One of them has a little more love left for them than the other, which one?

Chipoli VS Kaschovia
Opponents for the delegacy, known for serving in a variety of roles, many of them the same, the kid prodigies who grew into old establishment names. Quiet perseverance, rather than defined by flash, but which one flashes more in the voters’ minds?

As you can see, everyone on the list of delegates is involved in some way this year. To help with the decision making process, I wanted to revisit the information about the delegates so you know more about these characters being put up against each other. Those of you who paid attention will recognize this information as I am repurposing it for this year's event. For the first round, I will rely on the basics, for subsequent rounds I'll try to add some additional commentary and focus on them from the lens of the competition.

Below most of the delegates featured in the first part of the elimination rounds. I'll be back tomorrow to post more, because this is a lot for a single post.

Cote de Tombolo: February 12-13, 2003 (1 day)
The 2nd recorded delegate. We know that while official constitutional elections did not take place in those early days, there was some form of election as players organized and competed with each other for the endorsements, openly endotarting and effectively campaigning for the job in the process, something we have seen often in UCRs from the beginning of this game. It is believed this player may have had little success doing so, or simply had enough while Nastic was tarting up. Either way, this was their only appearance.

Uugyana: May 20-21, 2003 (1 day)
The 6th delegate. I suspect this is another ZeroPositive situation. In a sad bit of trivia though, I noted that this delegate has never been included on any of the other versions of Delegate Delirium, either, and was not on the delegate list dispatch that has been around for years.

Nastic: February 13-April 28, 2003 (74 days); May 6-20, 2003 (13 days); May 21-28, 2003 (7 days); June 5-August 7, 2003 (63 days); November 29-December 31, 2003 (33 days)
The 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 12th delegate, and reportedly set the old highest endorsement record at 884 at some point over their many stints as delegate (their longest was 74 days consecutive days). Older players do remember Nastic (and later Nastic 2, the final time they were delegate) as the first serious delegate in the region's history, and they were the one who held the delegacy the most in this early period. But other than that, I don't really have anything to add. Maybe you can ask them yourself, as their nation is apparently still active.

The Twoslit Experiment (Twoslit): September 28-November 29, 2003 (62 days); January 1-4, 2004 (3 days); January 5-February 16, 2004 (42 days)
The 11th, 14th, 16th, 18th delegate, and founder of the original TNP forum (Old Blue). By the time Twoslit became delegate, TNP had figured out how it handled its delegacy. While there was no formal constitution or elections, those who won the trust of enough nations and managed to secure the delegacy had a lot of freedom to pass it off to the next most-trusted nation, and had a sense of passing that responsibility off to other players before too long, so there was always regular turnover in delegates in TNP since the beginning. Despite the numbers associated with his delegacy, Twoslit was essentially the fourth delegate given how many of the ones in between lasted a scant few days. It was still remarkable that it took until this point for someone to take the step of making the region a forum, and for the community to plant its roots a bit deeper. This was more necessary at the time since the Regional Message Board didn’t preserve its old posts, and after a certain point they would simply fade away. Twoslit took things a step further by also establishing the NPA and committing the region to the ADN, so one could say TNP as we know it started to take its earliest shape during his tenure. He was particularly inspired by the rise of Francos Spain, who had purged The Pacific of its old government and was rapidly changing The Pacific into something very different and terrifying: the New Pacific Order. In response to this incident, the other feeders began seriously looking at establishing constitutions and taking other measures to guard against similar incidents happening to them. Twoslit had the brand new NPA assist the ADN in the efforts to liberate The Pacific from Francos Spain.

For the first few months in 2004, he would trade the delegacy with Wilkshire, but wouldn’t take a prominent role in the region’s history again until the Pixiedance coup, where he would take the extraordinary step of limiting the forum permissions of the government on the forum in response to their rogue actions. While this was acceptable to TNP’s community when they were under Pixiedance’s thumb, this kind of intervention would not be tolerated when the community formally returned to Old Blue. Out of concern for Twoslit’s actions, Flemingovia and others made the push to move to another forum, the one that ended up lasting the longest.

Magicality: April 23-June 18, 2004 (56 days)
The 20th delegate, and the one who presided over the debate and vote approving the original constitution as authored by Blackshear. Sadly, she was not able to see it through, as she fell ill, ultimately having to retire from NationStates, before she was able to sign the finished product. The fact this constitution was not signed provided significant cover for the Great Bight coup that would soon follow.

Mikestonia: Unknown-February 12, 2003 (Unknown)
The first known delegate of TNP, we're not sure when he started but he last held the seat on 02/12/2003. Otherwise, we know nothing about this mysterious ancient player.

UPS Rail (Sir Paul): June 18-July 3, 2004 (15 days)
21st delegate, and first rogue delegate. It only took a year and a half for a rogue to show up, this one took over on behalf of the NPO and is mostly known for two large banning sprees, establishing the first endorsement cap, and giving the delegacy to Great Bight. Sadly they took advantage of a pretty bad situation at the time, Magicality's illness and forced retirement from the game, and the fact she never signed TNP's constitution (though I believe it's fairly safe to say a rogue wouldn't have cared about a signed constitution anyway). This was just the warmup act for the real villain though.

Shoeless Joe: July 22-27, 2010 (4 days)
A brief rogue delegate, but a founder of Lexicon who wrote their laws, and was also known for previously spilling the beans on Limitless Events’s plan to stuff the ballot box with Lexicon votes, leading to a very tense period where RA membership rules were changed and applications frozen to keep Lexicon players out. While not his idea, a revolutionary alternative government called the North Pacific Union quickly formed behind him, intended to follow the preferred model of governance its architect, HEM, designed in his own sphere. Shoeless Joe, perhaps surprisingly, was unwilling to eject nations to maintain his position, and so his coup was over in a few days and forgotten just as quickly.

Thel D’Ran: July 29-September 9, 2004 (42 days)
The first delegate in the First Constitutional Era, and the delegate-in-exile during Great Bight’s coup. He was the one who established a region, Avengers Assemble, to organize the resistance (much as Stars of Sky would do with Stars during the Pixiedance coup), and would sign the first TNP constitution once he was in office. Free4All and the ADN dismissed him as a “lowly map maker” who they did not want to serve as delegate, and set the wrong tone from the start as many in TNP became concerned they expected gratitude and wanted it to be demonstrated in service to the ADN, or worse, that TNP would now need to be more like a territory of the ADN. How to move forward while keeping a healthy distance and independence from the ADN became Thel’s main goal as delegate, and the other prominent leaders in the region who would succeed him, Sydia and Cathyy, were in full agreement, though they would have different approaches for how to go about this. As far as the issues of the day and the region’s goals, they remained much as they had under Wilkshire, Blackshear, and Magicality, though they now had to navigate the tension with organized defenders and the reality that their enemies could strike at them and take the region if they let down their guard.

Sydia: September 9-October 23, 2004 (44 days); February 22-September 21, 2009 (216 days)
The 2nd delegate of the First Constitutional Era, and eventually the 13th elected delegate of the Second. Sydia back then was most known for beginning peace talks with the People’s Republic of the Pacific, the successor state to the NPO after Francos Spain disappeared, out of concern that TNP was practically a territory of the ADN. This was a pressing concern in those days after Great Bight's coup, and was a reason for a lot of strain between his predecessor Thel D'Ran and the ADN (who did not even want to make Thel D'Ran the delegate, despite the fact he was the delegate-in-exile). He was not able to see this through due to persistent computer problems. Sydia has the distinction of being the only delegate who was elected delegate in both constitutional eras - he would eventually be vice delegate and ascend to the delegacy after Flemingovia resigned before he could take the in-game seat, becoming the 13th delegate of the second constitutional era, and one who was successfully re-elected. Sydia also set a new record for consecutive days holding the in-game delegacy, one that would be broken several times in coming decade.

New Kervoskia: March 3-July 22, 2010 (141 days)
The 15th elected delegate, unopposed for a second term, but known for presiding over one of the worst periods for the region in terms of activity and government functionality. Even though his term in office lasted until October 9, the delegacy was held by various others from July 22 until well after the term expired. This was a low point for the region, a time when there was serious thought to abandoning the complicated democracy that the region had set up, and following Shoeless Joe's and JAL's coups during that period, it would become a crucial election question when Flemingovia returned to the delegacy for the last time.

Grosseschnauzer: September 28, 2011-January 31, 2012 (125 days)
The 19th elected delegate, and probably one of the most polarizing figures in TNP history. By the time he became delegate, he was a veteran of pretty much every era of the region’s life, and was the champion of the constitution that continued to be under fire and blamed for the pervasive issues TNP faced in recent years. His were the wordiest, most legalistic and bureaucratic documents and court decisions, and a great source of headache. His two terms as prime minister were previously relayed as they coincided with Dalimbar’s delegacy. His own term as delegate, strangely, seems to have left no record to speak of. It was noted that the transition from Blackshear to Grosseschnauzer was one of the quickest in history, but the meticulous planner and organizer and good government guy left no records for me to comb over other than periodic appointments to offices he referred to as delegates instead of ministers, and he evidently appointed the deputies as well. At one point he appears to have taken ill and taken offense at being called out for a relatively quiet term as a result, but ultimately his term was like the others in these years, evidenced by his narrow 1 vote election which he won 5-4 against his eventual vice delegate. I don't want to suggest Grosseschnauzer was ill-equipped for the job or not an important and positive figure in the region - after this delegacy he would go on to serve again as Speaker and provide the kind of input and talent he was best at - but the region would eventually outgrow the kind of habits and way of engaging that he seemed to thrive in. Regional activity included a lot of apologies and targeted recall efforts against officials for perceived slights or petty reasons. When TNPers from back then think of this time, it was probably these later days that they most remember as the legalistic fights became something of a passtime. The wheels had been coming off the bus for a long time, and it’s no surprise the constitution received its overhaul shortly after this period.

Stars of Sky (Pope Hope): May 27-August 19, 2005 (84 days)
The caretaker delegate pending the implementation of the new constitution, and puppet account of the ADN forces that liberated TNP from Pixiedance...kind of. The account was actually controlled by both Pope Hope and Unistrut, though the difference in their posting styles was night and day, and Pope Hope's approach was definitely favored, which is why eventually she went solo on using it. Unistrut's posts evidently brought suspicion to the account when it had made some progress getting deeper into Pixiedance's government, causing it to be banned from the region. They formed the region Stars while banned, gathering resistors to Pixidance from TNP, and Stars of Sky began update surfing to maintain endorsements for an eventual return to TNP. As already covered in Lungwallabad's entry, Pixiedance's decision to resign UN and a mistimed ejection allowed Stars of Sky to be unbanned, where they returned to TNP as the caretaker delegate for the time it took TNP to decide its future. This was the time when the constitutional convention was held, and four different versions of TNP's government tried to claim the region. Stars of Sky remained until the decision was made, the region ratified their constitution of choice, and a new delegate was elected.

Better Times (Ballotonia/Free4All): July 27-29, 2004 (2 days)
The 23rd delegate, and leader of ALL and the ADN. Free4All was the one who ultimately served as point for the collective defender forces which liberated the region from 60 NPO pilers and 19 from New Sparrow, and held the delegacy for 2 days until it could be transferred to TNP’s Delegate-in-Exile, Thel D’Ran. As a result, this also makes them the final pre-constitutional era delegate. Better Times was the puppet that was used as the beneficiary for the Puppetmaster strategy to liberate the region, a strategy so successful that it was coded out of the game to never be used again. As this was part of a liberation, their inclusion on this list is a technicality - Better Times was obviously a transitional figure and not meant for longevity.

Pixiedance (Cathyy/Ivan Moldavi/Insane Power): October 23, 2004-May 26, 2005 (215 days)
The 3rd and final elected delegate, and first and only rogue delegate of the era. By far the most successful rogue delegacy in TNP’s history, and one that almost broke the back of the resistance in the process. This coup more than any other defined what TNP would be essentially for the rest of its life, and so many decisions and impulses the region has had come back to trying not to let what happened here happen again. Interestingly enough, Pixiedance was originally the puppet Cathyy had used in the Puppetmaster operation that brought an end to the Great Bight coup. And of course, Pixiedance was a regular, elected delegate under the constitution at the time, with every intention of remaining a legitimate delegate. A combination of the players involved and the stress of the times created a bad mix, and the involvement of the NPO’s most successful agent guaranteed this would be a coup that had staying power.

Like her predecessors, Cathyy was concerned with the ADN’s influence over TNP and sought to ensure TNP would not simply be an extension of it. She first requested high level access to ADN discussions, hoping that TNP could be more of a partner than an underling, but naturally the ADN was not inclined to accommodate her request. When she was denied, she sought mediation, only to order TNP’s representative at the ADN, Wilkshire, to withdraw. As a result, half her cabinet resigned in protest, unknowingly making it that much easier for the events that would happen next to happen with little interference. Some time after this she removed TNP from the United Democratic Pacifics (UDP), and this combined with her ADN actions caused her to fall under immense pressure to reverse course or even to resign. It has been said that Cathyy did not handle this pressure well, and that she was incredibly incensed when Free4All returned to TNP to campaign for the delegacy. Given his unmistakable ties to ADN, this was, perhaps rightly, seen as a significant level of interference in TNP affairs, and even an invasion to others. This prompted a counter-campaign from Thel D’Ran. With matters escalating, Cathyy believed that Free4All needed to be ejected, but couldn’t bring herself to do it. As a result, she granted access to Pixiedance to Ivan Moldavi, who happily ejected Free4All and used the account from January 8-10, giving it back to her only for her to hand it back again on January 15, for an indefinite period.

With Pixiedance in his hands, Ivan suspended the constitution in favor of the Codex and the North Pacific Directorate. Seeing what happened, Twoslit reappeared and used his root admin powers to remove the government’s moderation powers on the forum. While it was asserted that this move forced Ivan to create a competing forum for TNP, given that the forum was already under construction a week earlier, many believe Ivan simply wanted to provoke Twoslit to use his root admin powers in this way and give him cause to take such action. After months of batting off Flemingovia’s underground, indoctrinating new players into the Directorate and increasing the use of his forum, and successfully mass ejecting nations on a regular basis, the die-hard TNPers were dropping like flies, exhausted and increasingly hopeless. Ivan made the decision in May to return Pixiedance to Cathyy as he got busier and their domination was seemingly assured. But she then granted access to the account to her boyfriend Insane Power, and Ivan was not fond of Insane Power. Details of their behind-the-scenes struggles and conflicts began to leak out to the public, Ivan all too happy to throw dirt at Insane Power. For some reason Insane Power decided to try establishing another new TNP government, one that that called The North Pacific Government, which had its own forum as well. Insane Power proved unable to handle Pixiedance as well as Ivan had, and the ADN forces involved in the fight began to successfully chip away at his endorsements, bringing it to a third of the pre-war total and causing him to resign UN.

At its height, Pixiedance commanded 750 endorsements, and most new nations knew nothing but Ivan’s new forum. Many old TNPers vanished during this period and never returned. Because of this experience, when TNP finally agreed on a new constitution, they made the head of government the prime minister and made the delegacy purely ceremonial. And learning from Stars of Sky’s successful building of a resistance in another place, Cathyy and Insane Power retreated to their own region to build a resistance to the new TNP government, which they called The Lexicon. They would launch many attacks on TNP from this base of operations, and provide key assistance to future rogue delegates, who were seemingly undeterred from the fact the delegacy was purely ceremonial.

Great Bight (Mammothistan/Upper Kirby): July 3-27, 2004 (24 days)
The 22nd and second rogue delegate. Taking over for UPS Rail, this is the point when the coup really got serious. Great Bight established a regime known as ALSO, and continued to reshape TNP in the NPO’s image. He themed it on pirates and was known to make nations “walk the plank” by ejecting them. It is thanks to him that we have Great Bights Mum, who decided to come in with a puppet and pretend to be his disapproving mother, who he never seemed able to eject from the region. When he was defeated TNP would not see the last of him, as he would go on to be involved in TNP’s community under the name Upper Kirby right under everyone’s noses. Ultimately he would be elected the 8th prime minister, running the government during Dalimbar’s second term as delegate. His inability to respond quickly to that rogue delegacy can perhaps be attributed to the fact he was a former rogue delegate himself.

The rest of the delegates featured on the first part of Round 1:

Durkadurkiranistan (JAL): September 26, 2009-March 3, 2010 (157 days)
The 14th elected delegate and eventual rogue delegate, and the only rogue delegate to successfully get a second shot at being rogue when he overtook Ermarian and Groovistan at the end of New Kervoskia's term. Until this point, former delegates coming back for another run had traditionally won, yet JAL managed to defeat Former English Colony (Eras) in her last run for the office. This is less impressive when you consider the vote was 9-6, a sign of TNP's dire straits going into 2010. JAL was a standard delegate for the entirety of his term, until he banned 2,000 nations on his final days in the delegacy in the first half of New Kervoskia's term. His edited on the World Factbook Entry and regional flag also violated moderation standards, causing NS moderators to delete his nation and end his delegacy. A cursory look at the region under his administration shows the same problems that would come to plague New Kervoskia, though he did keep his promise of making TNP an Islamic republic if he won, and kept it within the constitution.

By the time JAL had his new nation, Durkadurkiranistan II lurking around, things in the region had gotten much worse. He ran for delegate again exactly a year since his last election, promising to coup the region if he won. When that didn't work, he simply overtook the top endorsement spot and began interfering with the government's attempts to get the proper officials in place, including Blue Wolf. But contemporary accounts seem to suggest this did not happen immediately after he took the delegacy, but that he waited a bit before enacting the purges. It was remarked by many at the time how short his coup was, suggesting it may have been another few days rather the entirety of the time he held the in-game seat. There were signs of trouble from the start: Groovistan revealed himself to be an innocent endotarter who did not wish to be delegate and would happily hand it over when the time was right, which prompted JAL and other players, including Unibot, to unendorse him and allow JAL to take the delegacy. Unibot later expressed regret for this when he saw how inefficient JAL was at managing both the in-game delegacy and his coup. At a low point, JAL appealed to the NS forum for more nations to endorse him, prompting TWP's Darkesia to offer to make TNP a colony to teach it how to administer itself. Blue Wolf overtook JAL in endorsements and paved the way for Flemingovia to take the delegacy again.

Emperor Matthuis: February 10-12, 2007 (2 days); October 21-26, 2007 (5 days)
The outgoing vice delegate who became an accidental delegate for 2 days at the end of GBM’s second term as delegate due to an endorsement campaign and the involvement of Gatesville, NPO, North Pacific Destroyers, and Lexicon agents Limitless Events and Eluvatar. While he cooperated with GBM to return her to the delegacy, it is speculated this was possibly only because he didn’t think he had the support for a successful coup. He would get it again for 5 days during GBM’s third term as delegate, this time working with the same people who bumped him there the first time instead of working with the government, until he ejected his endorsers and then took the delegacy in TRR, being backed by an unhappy Gatesville. I wasn't around back then but I observed that he was quite involved in the government for a while before he became another rogue, and not even one of the better known ones, and I have to say I was surprised to see him take that turn. Because it is not entirely known if the first period was an aborted coup or not, I personally don't give him credit for being a rogue delegate who successfully couped twice. Instead, I give that distinction to the next guy on this list.

Novare Res (Romanoffia): February 21-23, 2012 (1 day, nearly 2)
Accidental delegate for a day, but a member of the Security Council taking over after McMasterdonia’s second resignation. Roman is one of those well-known and significant players in TNP history, the kind who you would expect to find on a list of former TNP delegates. But like this? Roman held down the fort before the vice delegate, SillyString, took the delegacy for the first of two periods as acting delegate following delegate resignations that year. It would have been notable if it did not happen again so recently.

Sundred (Artemis/Oracle): October 4-November 3, 2020 (30 days)
Interim delegate, and a member of the Security Council who took over during the transition to a new delegate which was going long due to the historically high endorsements of the time. Earlier that year the game experienced the Drew Boom, and during the year of Covid lockdowns to boot. McMasterdonia had set the new records for time in the seat as well as the number of endorsements, and Prydania was struggling to get those endorsements down in concert with Tlomz getting them up. Before Prydania would be anywhere close to Tlomz’s number, he’d fall below Artemis, who had been the vice delegate but was now just a regular security councillor. In recent years the outgoing delegate would hang on to the delegacy until the new delegate could get in place, but this looked to be a time where that transition would not be soon, and many on the Security Council felt that it would be better for a member of their own to hold it rather than an unelected former delegate. They encouraged Prydania to drop the endorsements and positioned Artemis to hold the delegacy until the new delegate could overtake him (the vice delegate, Dreadton, was below Tlomz in endorsements and wouldn’t be able to take the seat before Tlomz got to it).

Artemis managed to hold on to the seat for a whole month. While the transition was difficult, it was made harder with his decision to continue endotarting, raising a few eyebrows. Artemis complied with the elected delegate’s instructions when casting votes or using regional powers, for the most part, though there were times when he took the initiative and assumed certain orders which were not given. For these reasons, some are still not sure if Artemis was not something of a benign rogue delegate. His actions would be scrutinized by the council and Dreadton’s successor as vice delegate, and before anything came of it he would resign from the Security Council. Prior to his service as interim delegate, Artemis was one of the better-regarded speakers in the RA, and a former multi-term vice delegate himself. There was speculation he would seek the delegacy in a formal run, and even the beginning of such a candidacy, but ultimately he opted out, getting too busy to even continue his role as one of the region’s administrators.

The Democratic Republic of Tomb (Tomb): March 31-May 13, 2015 (43 days)
The 27th elected delegate, coincidentally elected on his first anniversary playing the game. Tomb is known for being one of the most charismatic and likable delegates, but also one of the most controversial ones. Over the years several key players have called out his propensity for making big, bold promises but failing to deliver on them, and for being rather sneaky and duplicitous as a player. His knack for going big and bold started almost immediately after he took office, when the recent coup in Lazarus inspired a treaty to be written with its government-in-exile, prior to its successful liberation; and when he also pursued a broad treaty bringing together the GCR regions, which predictably failed due to the vast differences and multiple grudges that existed between them. His ratification of the treaty with Taijitu fared better. Tomb really ran into trouble when he touched a third rail in TNP politics: roleplay. The roleplay community was up in arms over what they perceived as an attempt to control it and fold it firmly under the government’s purview, mishandling it in the process. Tomb sought to promote subgroups of the roleplay community that had fallen out of favor, and reversed his culture minister’s initial attempts to broaden access to it even under culture by doing away with executive staff there; Tomb insisted on continuing to have executive staff membership, which was seen as a way to potentially exclude people from roleplay.

This issue did complicate his campaign for re-election somewhat, but the real trouble came later, when he was taken to court for violating Flemingovia’s rights as granted by the Bill of Rights. Tomb conditioned Eluvatar accepting Flemingovia’s application to join the NPA on his agreement to cease his critical posts and snark toward the military for its increasingly raider tendencies. Flemingovia refused. In the RA, Cormac initiated a recall vote against Tomb and Eluvatar, limiting it to Tomb once his new cabinet was announced and Eluvatar was removed. The trial would continue for about a month, a spectacle deserving its own summary somewhere else, but it mattered little as a scant few days after being re-elected, Tomb resigned. He would return again and serve in a few different capacities, even run for delegate again, but this past would follow him, and his usual tricks would get him in trouble again, causing him to lose a race he should have won. That was the last time he was active in TNP, though he would get himself into trouble elsewhere in the years ahead.

Plembobria: September 19, 2016-May 25, 2017 (248 days)
The 31st elected delegate, and the first to surpass 1,300 endorsements while drastically going over the previous endorsement record and also setting a new record for consecutive days holding the in-game delegacy. This was aided in part by the decision of his successor to act out the end of the Pixiedance coup, requiring him to play the part of Pixiedance and vacate the delegacy right on Manumission Day. More importantly, Plembobria was somewhat of the first in successive new blood delegates to signify a period of competitive elections and a rapidly changing citizenry, with the old collective of usual faces beginning to fall into the background and the old TNP habits shifting to match a new way to play the game. To that end, Plembobria saw one of the more active periods in the RA, though in terms of laws he only signed two, both related to security council provisions, and vetoed one related to preventing the defense or prosecution from being involved in redacting evidence. The bigger things on the RA’s plate involved investigations, with some of the most intrepid players yet looking for truth and transparency, and treaties. The RA took TNP out of the WA campaign spam treaty they had just joined under his predecessor, and agreed to join the Coalition Against the Ideology of Nazism, though it would prove to be an increasingly controversial treaty for the entirety of this term. In his second term they would ratify a new treaty with Balder

TNP’s The Northern Light released its first issue in a long time, and would go on to release two in one term after Plembobria’s re-election. The mostly dormant World Assembly ministry was kickstarted and became the consistent juggernaut it still remains to this day. The Northern Broadcasting Service debuted and the first shows produced under that name were released. Home Affairs set new records, and TNP hosted a festival with Balder celebrating the alliance which had been recently re-established. The NPA continued to set new records and heavily supported various allied regions. And the long-dormant WALL server, hosting TNP’s WA-based alliance with three other regions, began to pick up steam as well and become a crucial part of the region’s foreign policy and WA engagement, and a reliable source of cooperation with the other allied regions in it. The cabinet contained a murderer’s row, with nearly every member in it either being a former or future delegate, and featuring the last time a delegate left several key positions open for application upon entering office.

Plembobria’s outlook and policy was very much in line with his mentors, however, which would sometimes get him into trouble. The notion of cabinet solidarity was tested in a big way due to his preference for passing the CAIN treaty, causing one of his new-to-government ministers to consider the expectation for all cabinet members to vote for it to be a suppression of free speech. He took this concern all the way to the attorney general, Ash, who agreed to consider the case and was himself pressured by the vice delegate to drop the matter, as it would launch right at the same time as the election and could lead to a security risk if Plembobria decided to go rogue because of the case. The attorney general dropped the screenshots in the region’s Discord server and left the region, shortly followed by the minister of foreign affairs, Praetor, who was sympathetic to the cause. Most TNPers had no idea what to make of the screenshots dropped with no explanation, but some speculated and pressed for more information. The scandal impacted the election by removing the frontrunner for vice delegate (the attorney general) from the contest and leaving Tomb, former delegate, unopposed, setting him up for a run for delegate in the next general election; by causing another potential dark horse candidate, Darcania, from running at all, leaving Plembobria’s main opponent to be a prominent member of the NPA; and by dooming the frontrunner for the speaker race, Kondratev, who was the main agitator for additional information and lost all support because of his intense and unrelenting rakish posting about the scandal. His re-election would be one of the narrowest in history, though still a comfortable enough win. Plembobria was also not afraid to buck the regional vote for WA resolutions at times, causing consternation and criticism, if not outrage, especially if it was on R/D grounds. The cabinet often argued about the right balance, as it seemed as of late the balance favored raiders and defenders were uneasy. The RA’s interest in security law and the veto (and failed override vote) of the evidence redaction bill all stemmed from a trial which captured the imagination for some time, in large part due to Flemingovia’s excellent services as defense counsel. He also forced the Court to rule on the application of his powers in emergency situations, due to Ivan Moldavi challenging his ban during that year’s iteration of Z-Day.

Plembobria oversaw a period of great change and some of the highest levels of activity the region had seen. Discord truly became a dominant factor in community engagement, and the forum fell out of favor. Roleplay continued to diverge from the main community, outgrowing its channels on the regional discord server and establishing its own separate server. The question of how Discord would relate to government disclosure mandates would slowly grow until action had to be taken. And the separate community on the RMB would continue to assert itself and require greater attention than it had been given under Plembobria and his predecessor.

El Fiji Grande: May 28-October 15, 2019 (140 days)
The 36th elected delegate, and the last prominent defender delegate to date. El Fiji Grande was a rising star from the moment he arrived in TNP, and quickly established a knack for work in communications and later radio, raising the bar for those productions to a level no one else could match. The problem for him was timing - by the time he had served enough to make a credible run for delegate, he was short on time and saw a term that started strong but faded out before the end. El Fiji Grande was new blood, like many delegates of the time, but that came with a certain inexperience at the finer politics, which did impact him at times. He ran into trouble with WALL over a vote they wanted him to steer a certain way, but which he helped steer in the opposite direction in the voting thread. He tried to allow greater diversity in content with the region’s newly revamped university, only to get tangled in questions of government sponsorship and censorship, forcing him to push for the content to be restricted to private media and not utilizing the government’s existing tools. Even his election made him out to be controversial, with his opponent alleging he would have the region’s military improperly subsumed by defenders. It is true he tended to act a bit impulsively and was too eager to act, but he was a creative thinker and sincere, perhaps most clearly demonstrated by his willingness to prosecute himself for even the possibility of having crossed a line, something that he was talked out of.

El Fiji Grande had developed a tutorial for newcomers to NS, one that is still widely used, and planned to do one for every ministry under his Project Provide. Communications continued to perform well under his guidance, and an RP collaboration was planned with Greater Dienstad. The government began looking toward events in TEP, which became increasingly concerning and would culminate in a coup later that year. The WA ministry lagged a bit, but in terms of policy El Fiji Grande was able to make a clear statement in support of compliance, prompted by the involvement of a cabinet member and another TNPer in the main non-compliance group spearheaded by religious players in NS. The NPA continued to serve well, though one of its prominent leaders, Bobberino, was in trouble in the subsequent delegate election seeming to use his announcements privileges in the NPA server to boost his candidacy; he was replaced in El Fiji Grande’s final week in office. The RA made two key changes during this term: it expanded the time for the vice delegate to make their check to 7 days from 3, and it established the instant runoff system for elections which would not be triggered for the first time until the following year.

While he would be unable to serve another term as delegate, El Fiji Grande would continue to serve the region, sometimes as a minister, but most often as a source of advice and assistance whenever he could spare a moment. His most frequent contributions outside of communications would be NS events, where he would make an effort to contribute even remotely around the world, and he would be one of the region’s most staunch defenders of absolute free speech, even when it caused consternation with other players.

Jamie Anumia (Chimes/Cove): April 7-September 19, 2013 (165 days)
The 23rd elected delegate, initially elected to replace McMasterdonia after his sudden resignation halfway through his second term, but would go on to win a full term of their own. The election was somewhat delayed due to Eluvatar’s campaign, which Evil Wolf called into question given he had been termed out for the January term despite having been recalled. Evil Wolf’s interpretation won out and the Court ruled that even a special election after someone else was elected did not stop the term limit from applying. It is unclear if Eluvatar would have won that race, given there were many private ballots which at the time did not need to be disclosed during voting and the voting was restarted, but Jamie emerged as a clear favorite by the end, winning in the subsequent runoff. Much was already in the works at this point, the NPA was strong, FA was solid. One aspect of FA that immediately went sideways however was a proposed treaty known as The Concord Treaty, which would have been a multi-lateral treaty between TSP, TNP, and Osiris, but failed miserably in the RA. At the same time, another multi-lateral agreement, the SovCon Charter, mustered The Pacific, Equilism, Gatesville, and Osiris. And with all of this going on, Jamie had to contend with the coup of TSP, leading to TNP’s involvement in its liberation against the Milograd regime and the PNG status of Milograd, which in turn led to a diplomatic dispute with The Pacific when it appointed Milograd as its diplomat to TNP and TNP rejected him as an ambassador. Related to this, TSP cut off relations with The Pacific. Due to the Ravania leak, an investigation into the UDL also was launched, causing relations between the organization and TNP to become further strained, and of course the trial for that leak occupied much of this period. Milograd’s coup also further complicated these relations, leaving the UDL with no clear leader who could easily communicate with TNP. When it came to the conflicts brewing internationally, Jamie refused to support declaring war on Gatesville following Osiris’s declaration of war after their new delegate Nevadar claimed Osiris as a protectorate of Gatesville. The newly formed SovCon Charter was torn apart as Osiris and Gatesville were in conflict, and then Osiris cut off relations with TWP as well

Internally, Jamie worked on reforming rules on adspam on the RMB and created the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which would handle publications Comms used to manage as well as records of the government’s activity, and would also absorb the duties of the Culture & Entertainment ministry. They took the approach of clearing out McMasterdonia’s previous cabinet and appointing the new ones, with McMasterdonia serving as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs. They also continued the NPA’s involvement in Warhammer 40000 and an effort led by Cormac to have the RA order a pullout there failed. Their re-election was notable as being the one time Present was an option for voting, given one of the candidates was going by the name Abstain. The Court was also quite involved, having to hear a case on Romanoffia’s accidental exclusion from the ballot for Vice Delegate, a mistake for which every election commissioner involved had recalls submitted against them. Following that election, there was a brief dustup as Mall, who had been one of the candidates for delegate, was dismissed as Minister of World Assembly affairs for not performing his job, something he claimed was what the voters had wanted from him and he was just living up to his promises.

The RA was incredibly active during this period, establishing some very key provisions, including conflict of interest rules for the Court, not requiring voting in elections for RA membership, simplifying mandatory ministries to the limited list we have now, establishing the Vice Delegate check, and revising the citizenship oath. One of the most significant things to come out of this period was the treaty with Europeia, following their assistance in TSP and various other matters leading up to that. It was especially significant considering Europeia’s founder had by this point admitted his involvement in both the Emperor Mathhuis and Westwind coups, and that the brief and already forgotten revolutionary government around Shoeless Joe was also masterminded by him. As was common in those days, and as previously mentioned, the RA considered numerous recall efforts, all of which failed, save for one recalling Evil Wolf as attorney general. An effort to remove the WA reporting requirement for RA membership was also passed as elections for the next term were underway, and while Jamie attempted to veto it, the veto was overridden, the first and only time that has happened since the latest version of the constitution was put in place. Jamie would go on to join a very small list of TNP delegates who served as delegate in another GCR, in this case serving as delegate of TRR.

Hulldom: January 14-April 8, 2023 (84 days)
The 44th elected delegate, infamous for being the first delegate to resign from office in almost 8 years, following an embarrassing instance of being extorted by other regions. Initially Hulldom was considered to be a sign of continuity with the government’s approach to recent events, including a greater emphasis on legislative action which the past two delegates had featured, and with his appointment of a Minister of Legal Affairs that seemed to be the case. But he had his own ideas for how to approach the conflict with the Brotherhood of Malice and the efforts of the Modern Gameplay Compact. Shortly after taking office, he made an agreement with TRR to water down the sanctions and essentially allow them to utilize a loophole to get around the cultural sanctions, reversing TNP’s position in the prior administration that the cultural clause endeavoring to have events was not a mandate to allow sanctioned citizens to attend. He brought on an outsider, the former president of Europeia, Icarus, to be his MoD and revised the NPA doctrine to eliminate the one-org policy that had been a staple for years. And when the legislative projects he had outlined at the outset were completed relatively quickly in the term, with legislation making the admin check advisory, loss of access to NS a regional emergency, and the military law revised to include language about respecting regions and limiting exemption declarations to the delegate, he signaled that he wanted his minister, his predecessor as delegate, to exit his cabinet so as to further separate himself from the policies of the previous 8 months. These new approaches he took would have dire consequences for the region and for his political future.

The Heroes of Valhalla program, spearheaded by Hulldom the previous year, was picking up steam and a fruitful avenue of cooperation with many in the MGC. He granted access and inclusion to TEP, an immediately unpopular move with some in the project, and one that would prove to be almost immediately regrettable when TEP became the first partner region to oppose a HoV developed resolution, and would go on to do so twice during their involvement in it. Hulldom was known for his networking and friends on both sides of the proverbial aisle, and in these contentious times that meant working closely with people from LWU as well as defender regions. A dispute over a particular liberation due to miscommunication with the NPO caused him to deny TNP involvement, and when this was followed by a decision to be involved in writing a condemnation of a LWU raider, defenders became irate. Hulldom attempted to negotiate an abstention, but the representatives from The League, who were in talks to secure a non-aggression pact with TNP, insisted on stronger commitment. This became a concerted effort on the part of all major defender regions, with a clear message that TNP’s lack of support opposing the LWU resolution would lead to their lack of support for TNP’s future commendations. For some reason, Hulldom chose to express this ultimatum to his LWU contacts, and withdraw his original pledged vote and indicate to them he would now have to oppose it. On the heels of this communication, Hulldom sprung the reopening of the embassy with 10000 Islands on the RA, despite XKI having failed to make up for their closure of the original embassy not even two years back. The backlash forced him to undo it and also scupper a potential initial treaty with them. TWP was adamant that Hulldom not give in to the extortion, and along with other concerned TNPers made the case that the numbers favored moving forward as planned. In truth, the defenders were bluffing and could not have sunk those proposals, but Hulldom strongly believed otherwise. LWU leaked the information Hulldom gave them and facing the backlash and embarrassment, and the resignation of his minister of foreign affairs, he resigned the delegacy. The incident would ultimately lead to the dissolution of the treaty with TSP, and further delay possible cooperation with LWU. It also put off pending work on TNP’s bill to respond to frontiers to the next delegate.

Gorundu: April 10-August 12, 2023 (123 days)
The 45th elected delegate, the first vice delegate to serve as acting delegate in nearly 8 years, and the first to serve for the duration of the term without a special election. His ascension to the role was beyond unexpected, given the delegate who preceded him was known for his extensive gameplay network and connections and was expected to remain a significant player, and his own electoral prospects had never been great. But it was scandal and shame that brought him to office, forcing him to immediately deal with the fallout of Hulldom’s embarrassing playing of two opposing ideological sides, and the fact TNP had been successfully strong armed by the same defenders it needed to work with to oppose continued aggression from the Brotherhood of Malice.

The extortion employed against Hulldom was largely perpetrated by TSP’s FA minister, causing TNP’s treaty with them to be questioned. Gorundu rallied the region and successfully made the case for keeping the alliance despite deep skepticism. Due to his perceived strong response to what happened, as well as his successful salvaging of the treaty, he was enormously successful in the election that followed. In the run up to that election, NS finally dropped the Frontiers and Strongholds update, and TNP worked out how to best respond, advancing a very comprehensive change of all legal documents to reflect the new reality. While he did not stand in the way of this change, he did emphasize TNP would focus more on recruiting and less and obtaining additional territory. That preference was tested when an opportunity arose for any region to claim the first frontier of the game, established by a disgraced player. The NPA were the ones to go in and claim The Wellspring, and while that initial buzz boosted Gorundu’s popularity further, it also presented a challenge he was never interested in tackling, which would impact the development and culture of that region in the weeks and months to come.

The bright future ahead began to dim almost immediately when TSP’s prime minister made the unfortunate choice to put the former FA minister who had extorted TNP back into TSP’s government, albeit in a purely domestic role. Considering the bet Gorundu had made was that TSP would be watched closely and on its last chance as a way to appease those who wanted some kind of justice, this was now seen as the last straw and a sign that TSP has been insincere about making up for what happened. The treaty was terminated and relations between the regions soured to the worst extent they had in years, even worse than the events two years prior. The technical infrastructure that r3n had always maintained as needed from behind the scenes finally completely collapsed, with his mysterious hand no longer guiding things at all and the region left to salvage what it could and replace what it had to, at precisely the worst possible time for this to happen. Much more damaging, however, was how he handled a diplomatic incident concerning one of his advisors. MadJack was also a citizen of TRR and in a private citizens area on their forum expressed views that were unflattering toward TNP’s ally Europeia. The remarks got back to Europeia, whose president requested clarification from TNP as to its stance on Europeia’s recent decision to become defender-aligned. While the government deliberated on informing TRR of the leak, it also contended with having to repeat its assurances to Europeia and discipline MadJack in a way that Europeia would appreciate. Gorundu did what he always did, took little too long to make a decision, and consequently MadJack lost all faith in him, leaking the matter to the public and resigning from all his roles. The attempt to prosecute MadJack for espionage that followed led to yet another farcical trial where ultimately a plea would be negotiated to end the charade.

Gorundu also had a trip that summer and made the unfortunate choice to declare an absence and then declare he could resume his duties four days later, out of a need to prevent the vice delegate from taking action that Gorundu wanted to take upon his return, and to avoid being outshined too badly, as he already received criticism for the acting delegate announcing the dissolution of the cards ministry, and he did not want the acting delegate to also deliver his midterm address. Because he was not done with his trip, which would end up taking three weeks, his general absence and lack of activity was even more apparent than it might otherwise have been. Tired of the lack of direction and response, most of his cabinet resigned their positions, forcing him to appoint himself the FA minister and raising the prospect in the RA that he may need to be recalled from office. The recall proceeded with the narrowest margin in favor, until Gorundu cast his vote against and guaranteed its failure. Several outraged citizens immediately began a second recall motion, which Gorundu decided not to fight, resigning the delegacy before the second motion could succeed.

Chipoli: August 12-27, 2023 (15 days); August 27-September 14, 2023 (18 days); May 25-June 17, 2024 (23 days); January 16-August 10, 2025 (206 days)
The 49th elected delegate, and the first non-former delegate to defeat an incumbent delegate. For the second time in only four months, a delegate not only resigned, but did so late enough that the acting delegate would need to serve the remainder of the term with no special election. Chipoli brought back almost all of the officers who had resigned from Gorundu’s cabinet, also bringing on Robespierre as an advisor, the first time he had served in any capacity since he left the delegacy almost two years prior, and an immediate controversial choice. Treaties with Carcassonne, the successor region to old ally Taijitu, and The Wellspring were finally formalized and brought to the RA, though they would not be officially cemented until the next elected delegate’s term. A special cultural collaboration was executed to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the alliance with Europeia. But perhaps what he will most be associated with is the fact he was the delegate in-game when TNP was attacked by the Brotherhood of Malice and The Communist Bloc and bumped out of the seat, an event that had not happened since the much earlier, more chaotic times. It was a deliberate and obvious act of aggression, and immediately jumpstarted discussions as to how to respond and whether to go to war, complicated by the fact it happened days before the next delegate election.

While Chipoli would not win the election to a full term as delegate the way Gorundu had, he would return to the vice delegacy the following January, eventually serving simultaneously as the vice delegate and the minister of foreign affairs under Simone. During that period he would hold the in-game delegacy again, until the transition from Kasch to Simone was completed. He would retain his position in FA for Simone’s successor as well, only to find circumstances required his resignation part-way through that term. Despite this setback, like the other times he left the executive, he would return again, challenging Picairn successfully and winning an elected delegate term outright in that January election. The TNP he inherited was the same rough one Picairn struggled with, and initially the best thing he had going for him was that he was turning a bad endorsement situation around with the best numbers that had been seen in almost a year, albeit briefly heading into one of the roughest summers in a long time. Though it was hardly an innovation, it had been years since the cabinet met regularly, something Chipoli managed for the entirety of his first term. TNP’s tech woes continued to be an obstacle, but the painstaking work of updating the resource dispatches and information was one of the few Home Affairs successes during this period, thanks in large part to the singular efforts of Picairn. Culture was a challenge throughout, requiring many successive appointments, while efforts to keep the NPA well-managed continued to run into walls. Cultural initiatives with The Wellspring and Vibonia ran into attendance and interest-related problems.

The term was also rocked by some of the heaviest international events in a while. The initial triumph of adding the Augustin Alliance to the Pax Polaris Occidens was soon forgotten in the wake of The Outback incident, where Lone Wolves United convinced the NPO, the AA, and TNP to join them in an intervention to convince The Outback, but mostly TWP, who were seen as the ones in power there, to replace their delegate Walkabout (Bran) with someone else. This was not taken well and as a result the PPO regions and LWU collectively pulled what meager piler support they had there (TNP had already pulled out and NPO never piled) and left The Outback to figure things out on their own, with LWU cutting their treaty with them. The MGC regions besides TNP and other defenders swiftly moved to fill the void, altering the dynamic between The Outback and their prospective PPO allies, and shifting TWP’s own feelings toward these regions. As they collaborated to strengthen The Outback, they also solidified their bonds with a new organization, the Sovereign Seven, which was the strongest national sovereigntist alliance in the game’s history, and one which began to successfully challenge the old order of the World Assembly and actually achieve its goals. While TNP did not join the alliance, half its WALL allies and all the other MGC allies did, and it found itself somewhat of a supporting partner rather than one of the leaders of these groups.

While Chipoli and TNP knew a mistake had been made and sought to fix it, the others involved did not agree, and made a defiant statement a few months later telling their story. It was a fundamental miscalculation, and broke years-long alliances that no one thought would ever shatter. Chipoli’s government apologized and moved to support The Outback and TWP’s counter statement, and the alliance between TNP and The Outback which was days from being presented to the RA finally made it there and was finalized. This in turn led to an alliance with the other new sinker, The Plains of Perdition, and TWP’s return to the MGC. In the latter days of his government, Chipoli would even advance the first bilateral treaty with TWP since the earliest days of the region’s history. While TNP’s new alliance with the AA remained, the PPO was dissolved as a result of these events. The NPA was able to savor the chance to be part of multiple historic liberations, with the largest coalition of regions in NS history to confront the NPO and LWU, and later TNP’s raider enemies, and the biggest break in the war toward the end of Chipoli’s second term, when The Brotherhood of Malice shut down. Combined with The Communist Bloc’s earlier departure from NS Left and its isolation from any other possible allies while internally it continued to struggle, the future looked quite bright.

That bright future was all external though. Internally, Chipoli’s second term coincided with increasing challenges outside of the game, and prevented him from achieving results in the biggest gambit yet, switching Home Affairs to Integration and doubling down on increasing and maximizing activity from the RMB. The ministry stumbled from the start, one of several personnel problems that prevented effective execution of the plans he had made. The re-election effort had also been rocky and divisive, and many staffers left the region when their preferred candidate, Picairn, was unable to win back the office Chipoli had taken from him in the previous election. Like Gorundu before him, Chipoli would declare an absence to give himself some breathing room, and like Gorundu he would need more time than what the absence allowed. His decision to elevate Halsoni (Ruben), the vice delegate, to his chief of staff would prove to be crucial in keeping activity in the government going smoothly, but would also provide the same bad optics that Gorundu had hoped to avoid when he tried to hold back Chipoli as acting delegate. With higher expectations and signs of improvement thanks to Ruben’s efforts, it was clear that more needed to be done, more than Chipoli could give. Chipoli would eventually succumb to the outside pressures and focus where he needed to focus, and resign the delegacy almost two years to the day that Gorundu did.

Kaschovia: December 16, 2023-May 25, 2024 (161 days)
The 46th elected delegate, known for having one of the longest transitions in TNP history (taking the in-game seat on December 16 after having been elected in September), but ultimately securing a second term. Unlike some recent delegates, acting or elected, Kasch was a long-time member of the community and had served in most every possible role one could have been in over the previous 8 years, including multiple stints as minister in nearly every ministry (a few of which he would go on to serve post-delegacy), member of the Security Council, and Vice Delegate, the latter two of which were when he was only 15. Kasch was delegate when the region officially went to war with The Brotherhood of Malice (BoM) and The Communist Bloc (TCB) following their invasion of the region, and the early response was incredibly successful, culminating in the successful capture of Solidarity in early October. High Command in the NPA was expanded to allow much-needed new talent to get things going again, after an initial burst of activity following the declaration of war. The militia soared and continued to give new players opportunities to get involved, though the military activity dramatically fell off by the end of his delegacy as no viable targets after Warzone Trinidad could be found. Kasch also took office at a time when the collapse of our tech and the frontiers and strongholds update really started to diminish the region. Fixing the tech was a major goal, and in the end he singlehandedly took on the rebuilding of the World Assembly Development Program (WADP). Nevertheless, endorsements continued to fall, necessitating a change in laws to make handling them easier with the new environment.

Kasch also looked to fortify alliances, not only because of TNP's diminishing state but because the war effort demanded it. The League & Concord first agreed on a non-aggression pact, then joined the Modern Gameplay Compact (MGC). Unfortunately, TNP also lost its alliance with The East Pacific due to their decision to pull the treaty over the invasion of a warzone with which they had an embassy, which was hit repeatedly while they pointedly took no action to assist or aid TNP in its struggle with the regions who attacked it. Kasch did much better with communications, as it had always been his strength in his prior ministry work, and TNP produced more radio shows and publications than it had in months. There were still early signs of trouble, however, as summer came around. The numbers continued to drop and staff engagement lost the excitement that initially came from the war. The situation would have to be carefully managed, but Kasch was out of time and also increasingly busy, leaving the region to make a very important decision in the subsequent election that saw the start of what could be considered a short-term impatience with incumbents.

Behold, most of the delegates featured in the second part of the first elimination round. Once again, I will be splitting this into two posts due to its length.

ZeroPositive: April 28-May 6, 2003 (8 days)
The 4th delegate. Likely another accidental delegate who got more endorsements than Nastic, or maybe it was a short-lived effort to succeed them.

United individuals: May 28-June 5, 2003 (8 days)
The 8th delegate.

Lungwallabad: May 26-27, 2005 (1 day)
The 4th to hold the delegacy in this period, and was accidentally delegate for a day. By this point the Pixiedance coup was at its end, with the players controlling Pixiedance having resigned from the UN. They still maintained border control, however, and attempted to eject Lungwallabad before they could take the delegacy. Unfortunately for them, they mistimed it, and Lungwallabad made a quick trip to TRR while still being the official delegate of the region, allowing them to return and unban Stars of Sky, allowing them to surf their way back to TNP and take the delegacy. It's great when the person who happens to have the next highest number of endorsements is humble and patriotic enough to do their part to secure history for everyone else, and I think that deserves a lot of thanks and praise.

Unterwasserseestaat: August 9-September 7, 2006 (29 days)
The first vice delegate to serve as an interim delegate, after UN resignation of Eras. The most notable thing that they did was eject two Lexicon nations that stood in the way of GBM taking the delegacy following her election. One of those Lexicon agents was controlled by Eluvatar.

Wilkshire: December 31, 2003-January 1, 2004 (1 day); January 4-5, 2004 (1 day); February 16-April 16, 2004 (60 days)
The 13th, 15th, 17th delegate, known for being the guy who traded the delegacy with Twoslit most often, but only for a day in two of those cases. At one point he had a real opportunity to serve after having been the third highest in endorsements for some time. At that time the primary focus of any delegate, and certainly Wilkshire, was keeping an eye on the NPO and what they may try to do to the region, given Francos Spain was at his peak and wreaking havoc in the game, but Wilkshire also set about building on the new forum and making sure the community was firmly established there, while building connections with as many other regions as possible, though embassies were not yet a thing. He also got by with the help of volunteers, as no official staff or ministry setup existed, so TNP would have interested players pursue the various tasks that most interested them. In terms of military, he maintained Twoslit’s plan for the new NPA by cooperating most extensively with the ADN, though in terms of allies, or proto-allies, TWP was the region TNP was closest with at the time. The handover to Blackshear proved to be a bit difficult, with Twoslit stepping in briefly one last time, and of course Blackshear would not be able to serve as anticipated due to considerations outside of the game, but things smoothed out once Magicality took the seat. Wilkshire is the oldest former delegate to still engage in regional activity, a mainstay as a resident and a frequent poster in the regional forum even to this day.

Treenudity: August 7-September 28, 2003 (52 days)
The 10th delegate. Always found this delegate's name intriguing, but never learned anything about them. Seemed to be a serious one in the list of delegates of those days though.

Blackshear: April 18-23, 2004 (5 days); March 17-September 28, 2011 (194 days)
The 19th delegate during the pre-constitutional era and the 18th elected delegate during the second constitutional era, the first vice delegate to serve as acting delegate, and the first delegate to be elected in a special election. Blackshear was also the only delegate from the pre-constitutional period to be elected under one of the two constitutions. Like other earlier delegates, there really is nothing to show as to what Blackshear's delegacy was like in the early days, though given it was only 5 days it seems he likely didn't have a chance to show what he could do, and it's been suggested he was called away by real life issues at a bad time, much like several of the other delegates over the years. What we do know is that he is credited with the original constitution, the one that TNP approved and Magicality intended to sign before she fell ill and UPS Rail showed up. It was famed for being short and to the point, a major contrast from the constitution that would define the second constitutional era, and which would ultimately be significantly revised to the one we use today.

Blackshear assumed the delegacy in the second constitutional era following Dalimbar's resignation, and sought to avoid the inactivity problems with cabinet members by only appointing individuals to specific jobs as needed. He went on to run and win an elected term as delegate, but the forum is scant on records from this period, though it appears the major controversy of the day was JAL's very long trial for his misdeeds the last time he held the delegacy, and Flemingovia's argument that JAL was not afforded the same forgiveness other former rogues received. Blackshear denounced the TNP court system as a joke but correctly identified that he was unable to personally get involved in the matter. His critique of the court went on to serve as more controversy, but as it was the end of the term, nothing more came of it.

Hepzibah ii (Honeysheep): February 23-May 16, 2006 (82 days)
The 3rd elected delegate, and the first to win an election unopposed. Honeysheep served with the 3rd prime minister of TNP, Flemingovia, when the major concerns of the government were rebuilding the NPA, reorganizing the diplomatic corps, and cleaning up the legal and constitutional documents to rebuild in the post-coup landscape. It should be noted that during the early part of this period, as a result of Pixiedance's coup, TNP tried to guard against similar problems in the future by separating the head of government from head of state, making the delegate a ceremonial, supporting role instead of the leader of the region. This worked, for a time, until they would learn that this situation also led to coups.

Ermarian: July 27-October 1, 2010 (66 days)
Held the delegacy for most of the rest of New Kervoskia’s time in office. This was a significant player in the region, and had even run for delegate against Elu a few years prior, but had a bit of a reputation for being a bit lacking - it was said that had they won that election instead of Elu, another coup would have been inevitable. I would note that given the wolves circling, this was a very lengthy period to successfully hold the delegacy despite not being the vice delegate, who was at that time Elu as it turns out.

Pasargad: January 31-March 23, 2012 (52 days)
A vice delegate who served as interim delegate for almost half of Blue Wolf’s term as delegate. This was another player who was big back in the day, and had actually withdrawn from a race in which they were unopposed the term prior to being elected, again unopposed, in one of the last elections before the constitution was reformed.

The Tresville Element (Tresville): October 21, 2008-February 22, 2009 (124 days)
The 11th elected delegate, and the first to lose re-election when sought. This loss came about due to a prolonged period of inactivity in his last term, something he evidently had a reputation for going back to his time as the first prime minister. Tresville had been around for a long time, back in the Pixiedance days, where he was part of the pro-independence faction in TNP, the one that did not want to continue to be tied up with the ADN. Nevertheless, he cooperated with the North Pacific Confederation and administered the temporary forum where the constitutional convention was held. Despite his doubts given Tresville’s activity in the past, Flemingovia served in his government and found much to love, until he had to challenge the failings at the end and ultimately run against and defeat him (though of course, Flemingovia soon found himself having his own activity issues against his will, as previously mentioned).

Tresville’s election came with controversy, as it was discovered post-certification that he had not technically been eligible to serve as delegate, forcing him to delegate the government responsibilities to the outgoing administration while he sorted out his legal situation. In the end the Court could not render a verdict due to two of the justices recusing themselves, sending the matter back to the RA, where he was ultimately confirmed to be delegate in a re-vote in the RA with a greater number of votes than the original election. This ultimately cost him the first few weeks of his term, a troublesome thing as he had inherited a war with The Empire that began at the tail end of his predecessor’s term. Though he hoped to find a peaceful resolution, The Empire’s terms were simply that TNP surrender and join it. He also hoped to avoid recognizing TEP’s Empire-controlled government, though it increasingly became a matter he would have to put to the RA. Tresville spent those early days focused on expanding the role of the NPA, including enlisting it in combatting spam on the RMB, and reorganizing the forums. The results were uneven, and more alarming, a general decline in NS activity made endotarting more crucial than ever. Toward the end of his term, his endorsements fell below 200, when known dangerous elements like Shoeless Joe and Byakhee picked up their endotarting at the same time. Emblematic of his activity and timing issues, Tresville was not able to post his platform for re-election until after the campaigning period ended. He lost in the biggest landslide any incumbent delegate has lost by.

Kranostav (Tlomz): November 3, 2020-January 22, 2021 (79 days)
The 39th elected delegate, and the third incumbent to lose re-election. Tlomz was probably someone who fit the traditional "it was his turn" model of people to serve as delegate, as he emerged as the most reasonable option in a field defined at least as much by who could mount a challenge against perennial gadfly Praetor, but not by much, given his win was not clinched until the fourth round of voting, the only election to date that had to go that far, and at the time the closest election in years. Events outside of TNP began to heat up again, but nothing too dramatic. Tlomz scored an early win with expanding the cards guild to a ministry, but without the steady hand of its only guildmaster to date, Praetor, who opted out of doing the job again. As a long-time WA minister, Tlomz devoted a lot of energy to developing TNP authors and using TNP's resources to promote and boost the success of the resolutions that TNP preferred. What would eventually become the Heroes of Valhalla program had its roots in the author feedback and craftsmanship that his WA programs encouraged. Although the military would prove to be his Achilles' heel, Tlomz did manage to establish an agreement with The Black Hawks (TBH) to prevent their quorum raiding of TNP and allied authors, as part of a thawing of relations that would see TNP once again work with TBH in joint operations, until the next time they forced TNP to cease working with them. Less optimally, he could not prevent Ten Thousand Islands (XKI) from closing its embassy with TNP over a disagreement with the content of TNP publications highlighting raids. And he was bogged down with trying to release private executive communications under the FoIA requirements; while he did release those records, the only delegate to successfully do so, and in such great numbers, it was not worth the struggle that sapped his attention and energy. He also had to continue lingering university controversy, and suffered an R4R from his own minister regarding a raid of NationStates, which led to an infamous court decision that claimed the NPA could not conduct joint raiding operations. In general, the NPA was a step away from revolt, having been displeased with his choice for Minister of Defense but even more displeased with Tlomz's aggressive response to handling their borderline insubordination. When his cabinet members and soldiers began to talk among themselves and whisper their concerns and critiques, and communication between his own cabinet and himself broke down, the prospects of a successful return to the delegacy began to dim. Tlomz insisted on sticking it out, despite his campaigning being limited by real life time constraints, but he stood no chance going against one of the most popular and well-regarded delegates in history, McMasterdonia.

Chodean Kal (Dalimbar): February 19-August 19, 2007 (181 days); January 19-March 17, 2011 (57 days)
The 6th and 17th elected delegate, but under very different circumstances. While Dalimbar would not go rogue until July 15, the intent for the rogue delegacy was long in the making. Emperor Matthuis’s accidental delegacy, while a possible opportunity for a straightforward coup, was more useful as an election manipulation tactic, given he had a slight edge over Dalimbar prior to that election’s runoff. The push into the delegacy allowed Dalimbar to cast suspicion on him, and render a much clearer result in his favor in the runoff. This suited the purposes of the various forces backing him for an eventual coup - the NPO, which had already been in talks with him and loosely talking through possible post-coup actions; and The Lexicon, in the form of their agents Limitless Events and Eluvatar, who were unaware of the other forces working with Dalimbar but hoped to turn over TNP’s poor system of governance by backing a Dalimbar coup. The poor state of TNP’s governance was very much on Dalimbar’s mind, as he chafed under the setup where the delegate was ceremonial and the real leading came from the prime minister. Nevertheless, Dalimbar did what he could to make better use of the office, starting early with the establishment of the Adjutant Corps, which was effectively a proto-WA ministry that organized the UN voting thread for the delegate, delivered information to help voters cast their own votes, and encourage and expand UN membership among the region. This initially caused conflict with the prime minister at the time, Grosseschnauzer, who felt this non-government body being established was beyond the scope of the delegate’s powers. They ultimately compromised by merging the group with the prime minister’s regional task force, so that the prime minister could appoint him as an individual leader of the task force without it being part of his duties as delegate.

Dalimbar also made a few reports of the relative endorsement levels of the top endorsed players in the game at the time, which is how we know as of April 15 that year that he had 331 endorsements and the most in the world, with TSP’s Fudgetopia coming in a close second at 321, TWP’s Shasoria at 264, TEP’s Gnidrah at 252, and NPO’s Moo-cows with guns at 203, once again the lowest of the feeders. There was a contest for WFE entries. But of course most of the action belonged to the prime minister’s office. Grosseschnauzer’s second term in office coincided with Dalimbar’s delegacy, and by this point he had already launched TNP’s university and ministry reorganization committees, which provided their reports and gave him a blueprint to work with in the new term. Diplomatically during this period, TNP refused to open relations with Imperial Equilism, following Flemingovia’s lead, and instituted additional changes in the region to combat The Lexicon including what some considered to be draconian new rules for oaths taken for RA membership. Talks to restart the United Democratic Pacifics failed due to TSP’s lack of interest and led to the feeder summit’s ultimate failure, though TWP drafted a treaty with TNP. The prime minister ended his term concerned with a scandal brought about by the NPIA, where it was discovered and then confirmed by the NPIA that an agent had infiltrated and interfered with the NPO, causing TNP’s government to be under fire and the next administration to have to handle the fallout. Within TNP, the government also contended with The Northern Wolves, an effort by Scardino and Blue Wolf of Lone Wolves United to operate a chapter of their organization from out of TNP. Dalimbar made a point of speaking out in cabinet, threatening to ban Blue Wolf for the scheme, before being talked down by the others.

While Dalimbar continued to be delegate after being re-elected unopposed and worked alongside the new prime minister Upper Kirby, the government’s initiatives were largely sidelined or failed to come to fruition. It was also taxed with the NPO scandal which dragged on through the summer, and then they had to express disappointment over rogue Taijitu players who worked with DEN to invade TRR. Through it all, Dalimbar was unable to do much constructively and had to watch as the government fumbled and struggled, ultimately leading to his decision to announce that he was no longer recognizing the government and a few days later would set up an alternative since the current regional powers refused to discuss options with him. The government was largely paralyzed, and slow to respond, eventually causing elections to be delayed. A cabinet statement was released by Haor Chall, but the prime minister was nowhere to be seen. It would later be discovered that Upper Kirby was in fact another account for Great Bight, perhaps indicating that the slow response was intentional, one rogue delegate giving an assist to the new rogue delegate. International opinion was largely of the mind that TNP should work with Dalimbar on his concerns, because TNP’s situation was not good and the split roles of head of state and government were causing TNP’s most prominent leader in the world to be unable to do much of anything and render the region largely irrelevant in the wider game world. TWP offered to mediate the talks while the NPO gloated.

As events ramped up, Dalimbar maintained an open door, even sending Gatesville’s forces away when they arrived to support him. He turned his attention to more aggressive RMB moderation and one strike policies for spamming or disruptive posting, which could be enforced with immediate ejection and even banning. This proved not to be a pretense for mass ejections, however, as Dalimbar very deliberately kept his powder dry until the very end of the coup, when about a dozen nations endorsing Emperor Matthuis were banjected. Dalimbar blamed this on a hacker, but when resigning UN membership days later he would eject Emperor Matthuis. Right at the end, recognizing the strife that occurred, Dalimbar maintained that the rogue delegacy was intended to be a wake up call and a chance for the region to get a better constitution, and he expressed faith Great Bights Mum would be the one to pull it off.

Given that history, then, it is impressive that he would go on to be elected delegate again years later, in an election where he not only defeated Flemingovia, but did so arguing for more structure and a working legal system, and not the anarchy Flemingovia had won his election promising. He looked into the possibility of doing some sort of radio show, years before that would become a regular feature in TNP output, and he laid the groundwork for the Equilism treaty. But once again Dalimbar found himself pushing for more drastic change, this time yet another constitutional convention. His delegacy this time was plagued with real life issues and inconsistent ministers who didn’t pick up the slack. The appetite for something new, but ordered, was apparent, and he began the steps that would ultimately lead to the overhaul a year later, but sadly had to resign before that work could go anywhere under his watch.

Lewis and Clark (Westwind): January 23-April 29, 2008 (97 days)
The 8th elected delegate, and eventual rogue delegate. The constitution that had been with TNP since the move to the new forum had been supplanted by a new, more muddled constitution, and Westwind was the first delegate to be elected under that system. That constitution did not include a provision for the vice delegate, and so there was no election for such an office. Westwind’s first act was the appoint Great Bights Mum, the previous delegate, as the vice delegate, which would prove fortunate a few months later when it came time for her to respond to Westwind’s eventual coup. The cabinet that was chosen included Dalimbar, which did not seem to strike most TNPers as problematic, save for Grosseschnauzer, who delayed giving Dalimbar the proper permissions due to concerns he had with his elevation to the role of defense and security minister. He blamed this on masking issues since Dalimbar was not a member of the RA, and wanted the NPA and administration to look it over, but Westwind insisted and Flemingovia handled the masking. Perhaps as a result of this, Westwind’s first legislative action was to revise the rules for membership in the RA, which had a fairly sizable minority against but still easily passed and was signed into law. Before the first month had even concluded, Westwind was sitting at 243 endorsements compared to Great Bights Mum’s 235; they were the only TNPers over 200 endorsements. By the end of that first month, Westwind made good one another promise, one to rapidly remove any cabinet members who went inactive or unresponsive over two weeks. Joshua was replaced with JAL, meaning that at this point the cabinet had one former and two future rogue delegates in it.

It took 20 days for Westwind to take the delegacy and complete the transition. It took a week after that for the gears to begin turning for the rogue delegacy. Dalimbar fired the first shot by disbanding the NPA and NPIA. A new forum was created, and leaks from Westwind’s side reveal that the coup was planned in advance, with him relying on his connection to Equilism to make TNP a protectorate of Equilism, though he would also promise TNP’s UN vote to Gatesville and they would refer to TNP as their own colony. A bit over a week later, Westwind made it official, declaring himself the Crimson King and the institution of the Crimson Order, with yet another new forum to force the residents into. Seeing the influx of Gatesville nations, Great Bights Mum began reaching out to as many UN nations in the region as she could, and quickly amassed a significant number making her a harder target to hit, especially as she was already the second highest endorsed nation in the region. While Westwind benefited from Gatesville and the Equilism troops which were still present from the transition and had been asked to stay on, he continued the practice of ejecting the low-influence nations endorsing the top TNPers, but within a month found himself in a war of attrition he was likely to lose. To make matters worse, the competing community on the new forum began to go stale and barely engage within weeks. Grosseschnauzer took the step of officially recognizing Great Bights Mum as the acting delegate, and she began setting up the competing government-in-waiting, reinstituting the NPA and NPIA and appointing her own cabinet which continued to operate on the regular TNP forum. For a time the community was truly split between the Crimson Order and the ordinary TNP forum, though the Crimson Order’s key supporters, including Dalimbar, quickly began to drop like flies for various reasons, with one even going so far as to begin opposing the Crimson Order and drop screenshots of their top level forum threads, revealing the extent of their plotting.

By March, the notion of some sort of compromise began to be floated, and Flemingovia invited TAO to the forum to make a pitch as to how a TNP delegacy and government under him would work. Some still believed Westwind’s success was only a matter of time, but the same mechanics that he and his followers swore by as to what granted him legitimacy also guaranteed that he would ultimately lose his hold on the region. Eluvatar cooperated with the resistance, revealing in the process that he also controlled the nation Zemnaya Svoboda, and masterminded a stealth endorsement campaign, forcing Westwind to continue depleting his influence by cutting as far into Great Bights Mum’s endorsing nations as he could, and on a daily basis. However, TAO made the case that the longer the stalemate went on, the more used to the new forum the residents would get (echoing the problem TNP had with the Pixedance coup) and that while Gatesville would likely want to move their troops out soon, it may happen when the damage to the forum was already done. In essence, TAO hoped the gamble would not be perceived as worth it. The idea fizzled, and as predicted by many in TNP, the stagnation in the Crimson Order and the attrition continued to take a toll. When a peace treaty was negotiated with Gatesville after they were fed up with being stuck in the region, the coup was doomed. Westwind announced his retirement and Great Bights Mum retook the delegacy. Westwind would stay in the region, as all Crimson Order participants were pardoned, and some effort to accommodate some of their changes and ideas was done. The problems Westwind highlighted, however, only got worse in the years to come, encouraging more coups and forcing the eventual wholesale replacement of the constitution and legal system.

Now we are onto the 2nd part of our first round!

You can vote here: https://forms.gle/DC7BsFzZuBgHfPBJ9

Now let’s see our matchups

ZeroPositive VS United Individuals
A few people briefly held the delegacy during those easy endorsement swap days, these two were both there for only 8 days. Who stands out more?

Magicality VS Better Times (Ballotonia/Free4all)
What if Magicality returned, or had never vanished prior to the Great Bight coup? TNP back under Magicality with a new constitution as planned? Could this stewardship have changed what happened next, and altered the ADN relationship with TNP? Or was the damage done and Magicality better off stood down with Better Times guiding things to their eventual conclusion? Whose path will be preferred today?

Lungwallabad VS Unterwasserseestaat
Probably the two funniest sounding, and certainly longest, names in the bunch. Both had to be delegate suddenly without seeking it. Lungwallabad was just in the right place at the right time, the secret to undoing months of tyranny by unbanning Stars of Sky and ending Pixiedance’s streak. Unterwasserseestaat was the vice delegate holding down the fort, and was key in repelling invaders trying to stop GBM from taking the delegacy.

Wilkshire VS Treenudity
For a brief extended period, each of them served as delegate in the pre-constitution days, though Wilkshire briefly held it for a day at a time a couple times before his real time in office. They served roughly the same amount of time, and nudged the region closer to its more organized, constitutional self. One will stand out in this contest.

Blackshear VS Hepzibah ii (Honeysheep)
If I had a nickel for every delegate with a sheep-related name, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but…

Ermarian VS Pasargad
Many vice delegates have held the seat while the delegate departs or struggles with endorsements. These delegates held the seat the longest despite not being acting delegate, which is like doing mostly the unfun part of the job without the fun parts to go along with it. Who bore the burden better?

The Tresville Element (Tresville) VS Kranostav (Tlomz)
Two of the only delegates in history to lose re-election, and to have had a turn after serving well in a middle management role for some time. One term with their own share of controversy and being crushed by a former delegate with a bigger name, but who looms larger between them?

Chodean Kal (Dalimbar) VS Lewis and Clark (Westwind)
Two giants in TWP after their service in the north, lovable rogues to this day who maintained good relations with the community and earned trust despite their coups, holding on to their power for a great deal of time and forcing the region to change in their wake. Were they champions of better government utilizing brute force, or just delightful destroyers who took a bow and left when the time was right? And which wore it better?

Zemnaya Svoboda (Eluvatar) VS Flemingovia
Two of the biggest names in TNP history, they’ve faced off before, and held the office numerous times. The turtle and god, which is supreme?

Gladio II VS Blue Wolf II (Evil Wolf)
Stalwarts of the NPA, successful raider delegates, brief single term runs. Who made the most of his chance?

Simone Republic VS Francois Isidore (Robespierre)
Originally matched up in a previous election. Inexplicably popular and then popular to revile, a single term of unexpected and unpredictable events. Whose impact packed more of a punch?

Great Bights Mum VS Former English Colony (Eras)
If the region has founding fathers, these are its mothers. Longtime security officials who fought every coup they came across, and kept coming back for more. If they ever had to cross blades themselves, who would win?

Prydania VS MadJack
Giants of the region’s roleplay, jolly and kind, wise and nurturing, but also prone to sarcastic wit and withering critique if you did something to deserve it. Also known for their work in other regions but known today as moderators putting their skills to use for the wider community, but only one can be known for winning this competition.

HMS Unicorn (r3naissancer) VS Picarin
Workhorses who did their jobs well and were elevated for their work. They kept coming back, one is one of the most significant names in history the other is one of the most significant names in modern times. Legends still win this competition, but the new blood has slain many of them already, will it happen again here?

So I made a fun discovery. It turns out that I had never gotten around to publishing the summaries for four delegates in last year's Delegate Delirium. Seeing as neither McM nor myself are in this competition, and it's a bit odd to write one of these about myself, I am going to continue to refrain from posting. As for Elu and r3n, well, look there's some actual new content in today's post after all!

The rest of the delegates featured on the second part of Round 1:

Zemnaya Svoboda (Eluvatar): June 10-October 21, 2008 (133 days); May 29-November 10, 2012 (164 days); July 9-September 12, 2015 (65 days)
The 10th, 21st, and 28th elected delegate, and one who won two elections in a runoff and a third in a special election, and also has the distinction of being the first and only delegate recalled from office. Eluvatar's second and third terms as delegate were divided by the major constitutional reform in 2012, essentially an entirely new constitution but still a revision of the second constitution, and the version of the constitution that is still in use today. His priorities after the first election were to secure better participation out of the university, a stronger NPA, a more effective NPIA, and a better presence on the world stage, but like Flemingovia he also emphasized strengthening TNP’s community. His idea for this was to bolster roleplay and create a regional map, something he managed to do within that first term. Early on logs were released suggesting that Taijitu felt they owned TNP with Eluvatar’s presence as delegate, forcing him to state clearly where his loyalties lay and beat back opportunistic attempts to cast doubts on the new delegate.

The peace with Gatesville was a tenuous one, and would not last. Throughout the summer signs of trouble continued to crop up, including suspicious nations advocating for a takeover of TNP on the RMB and in telegrams. This was made more complicated by the fact that the NPA was in dire straits, despite Eluvatar’s efforts, with his defense minister proposing it be disbanded or turned into a militia. The Empire took over The East Pacific and Gatesville supported them, forcing TNP to decide what kind of action it should, or could, take given the peace agreement. While TNP initially supported The Empire in the early days, Lord Rahl’s threat to the region eliminated that as a continuing possibility. Although TNP did not take official action, a few players, including Flemingovia, moved to TEP to assist and denounce Gatesville and The Empire. Additionally, Eluvatar managed to get a treaty between TNP, NPO, TSP, and Taijitu passed, the Azure Alliance, which also appeared to offend Gatesville as they were not included or considered. This it seemed was enough for Gates to declare the treaty was violated, and he soon declared war on TNP. In response, the same few players acted to invade a Gatesville spin-off region, enraging Gates and causing the matter to deteriorate even further. Ultimately TNP would find itself at war with The Empire within a month. The Azure Alliance would be dissolved during Flemingovia’s final delegacy.

When Eluvatar returned to the delegacy, it was at the height of months of effort to fundamentally rework the constitution and legal system in the region. Notably, he had recently chosen to step down as a forum administrator during this time. He also set up his cabinet as an elected council of five, including himself, which puzzled more than a few people. The council set up the first formal delegate directives, which outlined the structure of the government (largely similar to the one most delegates utilize to this day). Eventually they would also set up the first automated welcome telegram for the region. A minor diplomatic incident involving TNPer Govindia and the region of Equilism happened late in the summer, a result of a court verdict that failed to adequately address Govindia’s conduct to Equilism’s satisfaction. Over the course of these two terms, Eluvatar successfully oversaw the new constitution and legal code, and the first elections of this new version of the legal system, the one we still use today, would be conducted, with Eluvatar handily winning re-election in his first win without a run-off. During this period he also contended with the revelation Evil Wolf had contemplated a coup of the region while he was delegate, leading to an unsuccessful trial, as well as a possible plan to set up a confederation of TNP offshoot regions which never came to fruition. One of the earlier raids and liberations of Stargate also took place during this time, prompting him to reach out to Stargate’s delegate and try to improve their security given their status as a target for raids, an interaction that would play out many times over the years. But sadly Eluvatar was most known by his second term for his frequent absences, culminating in a recall launched by Cormac that was ultimately successful. The fact Eluvatar had taken pains to try to restrict Cormac’s access and charge him with fraud for lying about knowledge of pile orders that had been part of Evil Wolf’s unfinished coup plot likely didn’t help to stay Cormac’s hand.

Eluvatar’s final stint as delegate would follow the aborted second term of Tomb, and would largely serve to stabilize the region after two consecutive delegates resigning from office. It would also see the delegacy surpass 600 endorsements. But the end of his tenure would see a deterioration in relations with Europeia after a formal complaint was filed by Europeia, TSP, and Albion over information revealed to the RA in its private chambers about ongoing discussions involving events in Balder that they had expected to be kept quiet. While the government’s response to this matter satisfied Albion and TSP, there were concerns on the part of TNP about how Europeia had the information that it complained about, suggesting that espionage of some kind had taken place. The next election would follow and the matter would be handled by his successor.

Flemingovia: August 19-November 13, 2005 (86 days); N/A; October 20, 2010-January 19, 2011 (90 days)
The 1st, 12th, and 16th elected delegate of the second constitutional era, he also served in many other capacities including the 3rd and 6th prime minister. Definitely one of the major heroes of the region and a founding father. He was one of the tireless champions during Great Bight and then Pixiedance's coups, the second requiring everything he had when things got dark. He was the one who organized the North Pacific Underground and returned the community to Old Blue, eventually developing the community-in-exile into the North Pacific Confederation with the help of Grosseschnauzer. The constitution they drafted eventually became the one that successfully won over the others in the constitutional convention, though some would come to regard that as a mistake. The return to Old Blue was short-lived, however, due to continued interference from Twoslit, and soon TNP migrated to the forum that would host the community the longest until it too required a migration in 2018.

Flemingovia would butt heads with a lot of players over the years, always striving for simplicity and common sense over getting caught up in obtuse rules and procedures, which appeared to be beloved by rivals like Grosseschnauzer. When he became the 3rd prime minister, Flemingovia was elected in a run-off, and accused of being an ADN puppet. He confronted these accusations head on, and focused on engaging the community and forging an identity as a feeder, with less focus on political or military action until those areas could grow into their own and fully recover from the coup. That said, he did believe that pulling out of the ADN and ceasing active defensive operations took away the NPA's drive and left it aimless, so he wanted to avoid the other extreme of being an isolationist region. He was especially concerned with fixing and cleaning up the laws, which continued to get tangled and messy, and would throughout the majority of subsequent governments.

His second election to prime minister, as the 6th, also in a run-off, proved to be a challenging one as problems with The Lexicon continued to mount. When The West Pacific went through troubles of its own, he had been accused of taking a side despite TNP's efforts to remain neutral. Now, with a feeder summit underway, he had an opportunity to solidify stronger relations with TWP through a bilateral treaty, especially as a larger multi-lateral effort looked unlikely given the feeders' relations with The Pacific. Despite an unendorsement campaign, and the revelation that Lexicon agents planned to rig the next election, Flemingovia had the Regional Assembly applications of Lexicon players suspended, and turned down a proposed peace deal given TNP did not consider itself to be at war with The Lexicon despite their claims that they were at war with TNP. When Equilism was itself couped by Westwind, he was the staunchest advocate for starving its new government of legitimacy despite a desire by many in the government to stay neutral, and closed the embassy with them. When his successor seemed to entertain talking to the new government, he ferociously objected, turning the cabinet against the idea and denying official recognition to Imperial Equilism.

By the time Flemingovia was elected delegate a second time, the first to defeat an incumbent delegate who sought re-election, the delegacy was the center of power in government. Aside from appointing the officers, however, Flemingovia was unable to do much else, suffering technical issues and personal tragedy, forcing him to resign the delegacy after 37 days, and before he even had a chance to take the in-game sea, making him also the first delegate to resign from office (this discounts Dalimbar and Westwind, who resigned after they had couped and maintained the delegacy beyond the point where an election should have taken place). Flemingovia's return to the delegacy nearly two years later would be under very different circumstances. Following the disastrous one-two punch of JAL and New Kervoskia leading again to a second JAL coup, Flemingovia stepped up again, facing JAL in a pivotal election which saw the highest turnout that year (the previous delegate elections had 10 and 12 votes total, and the most recent election, a special election for speaker, saw 4 total votes for Dalimbar, who ran unopposed). The issue of the day was whether TNP's system had to be entirely scrapped as a failure, and all candidates, including Flemingovia, agreed that was the course to take. Flemingovia promised to do it honestly, without a coup, but ran on anarchy and dismantling the government as TNP knew it, and he was elected on that platform. Due to personal life obstacles again, he was unable to fully realize this vision, leaving TNP with little working government infrastructure, barely a single active admin on the forum, and no direction as a region. He also failed to take his oath and maintain RA membership, forcing the RA to consider recalling him, and even after he renewed these things there was still the technicality that they had not been done in time; nevertheless, the RA let it go. Flemingovia realized he would need to break his promise not to coup to do away with the organized government, and allowed it to stand while he focused on RMB activity and better WA engagement. The result of his experiment in anarchy left him rather unpopular with several key TNPers and inspired the speaker, Dalimbar, to run against him despite his history as a rogue delegate. Flemingovia tried to challenge him on those grounds, but was unsuccessful. He became the second incumbent delegate to lose re-election, and the system as we knew it continued for another year until it was reformed again.

Gladio II: January 28-May 12, 2018 (104 days)
The 33rd elected delegate, and one unlucky enough to take on the job at one of TNP’s lowest points in terms of its international standing. The NationStates World Fair scandal continued to reverberate, as it had impacted the very election that brought Gladio into office. Much of the term was simply keeping our proverbial heads down and hoping to find a path forward. As a result, TNP was one of the most prominent regions left out of the scramble to decide Lazarus’s fate, and had no stake or opportunity to assist with the constitutional convention that ensued. Communications continued to produce at similar levels to the previous term, and culture highlighted every holiday in the region and finished up the latest iteration of The Lennarts. The NPA finally figured out how to get around its leadership issue, and over-reliance on Gladio, and put together a promising crop of soldiers and officers which would keep it in good shape for the next few years.

There was definitely a feeling of restlessness at the time, and frustration for being pariahs in the game. The RA moved one bill to Gladio’s desk, a tweak of the citizenship oath, but otherwise stuck to confirming officials and dealing with the fallout of the nesting doll of R4Rs the Court had recently had to deal with. Much earlier than usual, prospective delegate candidates began to jockey for the role, posting early campaign threads before it was even clear Gladio would seek another term. They needn’t have worried, as he was too busy to do the job for another four months. But it was a signal that there was growing dissatisfaction with how things turned out by the start of summer.
Gladio’s service to the region would briefly continue on the security council, but ultimately he would be forced to reduce his activity. A final break with the region would sadly occur when he would become involved with the revival of The Brotherhood of Malice, putting him fully at odds with the region he served, though he would avoid attending any operations that involved direct conflict or antagonization of TNP.

Blue Wolf II (Evil Wolf): October 19-20, 2010 (1 day); March 23-May 29, 2012 (68 days); March 8-April 7, 2013 (30 days)
The 20th elected delegate, and two-time interim delegate as the vice delegate. Evil Wolf had just been elected vice delegate when he had to step up and overtake JAL for endorsements during his second coup, which would last a day. Much later he would win his own narrow 9-6 victory over the sitting vice delegate, though for more than half his term the vice delegate he served with, Pasargad, would hold the seat. Such is normally the difficulty with being an active part of the region’s military, however when Evil Wolf came to the delegacy, there was no currently active NPA, something he was keen to remedy. The first big test however came from Flemingovia, who tried to petition the delegate for redress of grievances (as outlined in the constitution) and request that the ongoing JAL trial end with charges dropped. After initially stating he had no authority to do so, Evil Wolf decided to rely on the bill of rights provision and declare the charges dropped, pending Court confirmation such a move was legal. Ultimately charges would be filed again when the Court ruled Evil Wolf’s dropping of charges to be unconstitutional, reviving the trial and prompting Flemingovia to request correspondence records between the speaker Felasia and Grosseschnauzer as a member of the security council. Naturally Grosseschnauzer objected, but Evil Wolf ordered the disclosures. He also agreed to order an official section on the forum for Flemingovianism, but Grosseschnauzer pulled rank as an admin to have that subforum shut down.

Much as he is today, Evil Wolf was willing to test limits and patience by agreeing with alternative viewpoints or taking risks rather than playing it safe. For April Fool’s he flew the flag of The Empire with a mocking TNP Empire theme, and was taken to task for doing so. But he was not joking when he informed the region of Eluvatar and Grosseschnauzer’s endotarting efforts as security council members, alleging they were in danger of breaking the endorsement law by surging to 248 and 240 endorsements, respectively, compared to his 303. He also put out a call to the RA to authorize a request for foreign intervention to increase his endorsement count. This did not sit well with many in the RA, who felt Evil Wolf was seeking to restrict people whose job it was to serve as a possible check on him, especially with the prospect of a recall. Earlier in the month, Grosseschnauzer put forward a motion to recall him as delegate when he had yet to secure the in-game seat and had been absent for most of his term with no appointed officials. He would also be criticized for making his appointments on the region’s IRC, and for not posting an election calendar a month before the next election cycle. And because he provided a pre-announced leave of absence, the vice delegate legally was unable to act as delegate, despite the fact the RA passed legislation that he did not address (legislation, ironically, for an endorsement cap that would be vetoed by his successor 4 months later). And in the midst of the recall, Evil Wolf lost his membership in the RA, which some felt was necessary as part of his role. The recall passed 12-3 with 4 absentions, easily clearly the ⅔ requirement. Evil Wolf challenged the result, arguing that the presence of abstentions needed to be included in the supermajority based on the constitution’s wording, and the Court sided with him, rendering his recall defeated and years of court precedent on abstentions, which had guided the current legal language, overturned. Grosseschnauzer would not be so lucky a second time, and the second recall vote failed 6-12, with no now-illegal abstentions included. As an aside, the RA would later recall the justice who made that ruling that spared Evil Wolf, who was also one of the three to vote against the initial recall. The whole affair caused Limi (formerly known as Limitless Events, and later Abstain) to resign as speaker and citizen.

Much of that term was spent agonizing over revisions to the constitution. The region was fully fed up with the continued feckless direction and the delegates who would slip into inactivity shortly after taking office. At one point Flemingovia suggested moving to an entirely different forum and recalling Evil Wolf as delegate to facilitate a temporary delegate for the duration of the constitutional convention. But instead the RA just debated various constitutional drafts and settled on one they liked the most, a process that would conclude beyond Evil Wolf’s time in office. While the election for his successor was underway, he managed to ban Govindia from the region, which prompted a court review so long that it would not be settled until after Evil Wolf left office, though they would ultimately decide that his ban was improper. Evil Wolf would also enlist volunteers to join his cabinet during the period where he tried to get those done while under fire. He prides himself even today on his work rebuilding the NPA, and the results speak for themselves. With McMasterdonia brought on as Minister of Defense, the military was built up from scratch, training soldiers on both disciplines (raiding and defending) with tutorials, and a lot of effort tracking progress and membership and just having superior branding and optics. This would indeed be the most crucial aspect of his legacy. Evil Wolf would hold the delegacy one more time for a month following McMasterdonia’s sudden resignation, and would seek the delegacy again in the special election that ensued, but he would be defeated in a run-off, becoming the first acting delegate to seek an elected term and lose in the special election.

Simone Republic: June 17-September 29, 2024 (104 days)
The 47th elected delegate, and one of the more polarizing ones, though for rather harmless reasons compared to polarizing delegates of the past. Simone Republic was one of the surprisingly few delegates the region had who was primarily known for activity in the World Assembly. Compared to others who were known for their involvement there, he was probably the only delegate known for being a World Assembly author, having been one of the most prolific authors of his day at a particularly low point for participation in the assembly outside of a very small handful of dedicated players. Ultimately this lack of diversity in authorship would prove to be an existential problem for the institution. The other significant innovation he brought to the office was in how he got there. It helped that he had an unpopular opponent, but he exhibited the most comprehensive campaign yet, personally reaching out to every possible voter and asking for their input on his platform. To the more savvy players, he collaborated with them and arranged for them to join his prospective cabinet, winning key votes from big players in the region in the process. Some felt that he had practically bribed them, though no evidence of such ever emerged. He was underestimated until he secured a comfortable win, albeit one that required a second round of voting.

Simone’s approach was not that of a gameplayer, but of someone who had been tangentially attached to gameplay. He expanded the cabinet to probably its greatest size and struggled to get a feel for the demands of a politician. The plan appeared to be a focus on internal and cultural activities, with an aspirational goal to do them daily. He tried to increase Discord activity through polls and the weekly cultural diversions, despite the staff thinning out the whole summer. He single-handedly recorded radio shows in the form of interviews and spent weeks publishing them to the YouTube channel. Despite being mostly a one-man show, he caved into criticism that consolidation of ministries affected output and revived the Ministry of Radio, only for it to be a hollow department with little output and no staff engagement, due to its lack of actual staff. He was particularly proud of the increase in recruitment efforts, as Home Affairs shifted gears to this important task, as well as the slight uptick in WA voters in the region, despite the usual decline in summer. And every proposal that he wrote that passed he credited to TNP.

Much of the expanded cabinet did not amount to much and many of the individuals he recruited, some suspect in order to secure their votes in the prior election, ended up disappointing or leaving. A lot of effort was spent trying to revive the university, even putting the head of it in the cabinet despite its lack of connection to any other ministry, but like the many delegates before him who tried, Simone realized it was a good effort going to waste. Worse was his early response to events concerning the League of Christian Nations, a bigoted region targeted by TCB and initially one that defenders initially tried to liberate before learning more. Simone was initially counseled that no action was necessary and sought to lay groundwork just in case, drafting a liberation and directing the NPA to divert some forces from The Wellspring to the liberation. It was a public humiliation for the region and a subject of intense backlash both at home and abroad. Following this incident, and following a poor reception to his ministers of defense and foreign affairs during awkward and badly managed planning to capture the Confederation of Corrupt Dictators after its founder disappeared, other regions pulled back their communication with and inclusion of TNP in their affairs, preferring to wait for a new administration.

Internally there were some promising signs. The capture of CCD was ultimately successful and good for morale. The group he assigned to look at cards created a new directive and organization which he put into place. The WA ministry eventually shed its awkward start by putting in ministers with some sense of what they were doing, and he established a new form of recognition for players with delegate service medals that are still available for use today. He also returned the WA voting policy back to the delegate’s control rather than the WA ministry’s. Culture was able to host a good collaboration with TNP’s allies to celebrate Pride Month. And after some hiccups with the RA, the RA rules were changed to make it easier for proposals to be withdrawn even mid-vote, cleaner confirmations of election commissioners were made possible through a legal code amendment, and the vice delegate check was further refined.

Francois Isidore (Robespierre): June 12-October 17, 2021 (127 days)
The 41st elected delegate, and one of the few to have been elected straight from the speaker’s office. Of course, Robespierre had already served a partial term as vice delegate, which also made him one of the few delegates to have experience in all three elected roles. If McMasterdonia's win against Tlomz was a response to Tlomz's failings, Robespierre's win over Nimarya, seen as McMasterdonia's hand-picked successor, was seen as a response to the excesses and blind spots of McMasterdonia's final term. It was an even closer race than Tlomz's first election, and in no small part to questionable decisions made by Nimarya's campaign, including a possible pre-filled ballot strategy that backfired. Robespierre was quite popular with the same NPA cohort that had been in revolt since Tlomz, and had largely turned against McMasterdonia by the end of that term. He scored early points when he and his FA minister MadJack secured a quick and acceptable resolution with The South Pacific (TSP) over the quorum raiding dispute that raged for most of McMasterdonia's previous term, and as an avid NPAer and a beneficiary of a certain faction's dominance there, the NPA continued to have solid activity during the term. Less successful was his attempt to establish a treaty between TNP and St Abbaddon, as he was unable to articulate what benefit the treaty would bring to both regions and what relationship they even had. In response to disputed decisions by forum administration, a bill empowering the vice delegate to reject fascists for citizenship was signed and successfully upheld by the court. Citizenship laws were also changed to allow for high-performing residents to serve in government, a change meant to benefit Boston Castle (later known as Hulldom) and allow him to serve as the WA minister. And with MadJack as his FA minister, Robespierre effectively set up two future delegates in his cabinet. Home Affairs had some promising new talent and set new records in outreach to the region, though it is unclear how many of those good statistics translated into a wider playerbase. Radio output increased as well, playing into a new kind of activity on the Discord that had accelerated in the months leading up to his delegacy and continuing through the summer, regular voice chats with a consistent crew of players. It all seemed to begin unraveling by the end, however. An early sign of this was when Robespierre failed to provide the traditional delegate message in the Democracy Day pocket constitution. That was his biggest issue in general: rather than rage or pick fights, if Robespierre was at odds with someone or an idea, he would withdraw and take no action. Given McMasterdonia's criticism in his last term was the lack of consistent engagement, Robespierre's decision to check out entirely, and shrug off the patchy activity as an inevitable aspect of the "summer lull," was a significant misstep and let down the people who hoped for something different. It showed a limit to how far he was willing to go or push himself, and the confidence in him began to wane. After losing one of his advisors in large part because of this, he was faced with the prospect of being challenged for delegate by MadJack. Rather than step up his game and take it on, he chose to bow out and let the inevitable happen.

Great Bights Mum: September 7, 2006-February 10, 2007 (156 days); February 12-19, 2007 (7 days); August 20-October 21, 2007 (60 days); October 26, 2007-January 23, 2008 (89 days); April 29-June 10, 2008 (42 days)
The 5th, 7th, and 9th elected delegate, the first delegate of the era to serve two consecutive terms in office, and the first to start at 0 endorsements due to her former work in the NPA. Great Bights Mum mostly served during a period where the delegate was not a chief executive, and therefore she was mostly removed from those matters. But of all the delegates who served, she had to contend with the most coups, temporarily being ousted for Emperor Mathuis twice, taking the delegacy after Dalimbar’s coup, and then serving as delegate after another elected delegate, Lewis and Clark, went rogue.

Great Bights Mum was the force for stability and reason that would save the region after times of trouble. A mainstay on the security council and vice delegacy in those days, Great Bights Mum was the most trusted figure in the region next to Flemingovia, and a staunch advocate for democracy. Even when it was hard, she would insist upon it, and to the surprise of a few, she would be one of the first to offer amnesty to those delegates who betrayed their oaths, arranging for Dalimbar to come back into the fold even as he was still a rogue delegate, and making clear there were no real hard feelings with Lewis and Clark and those who backed him, though there was a period where it seemed TNP may be permanently split in two by the Crimson Order.

She held on during two periods where the coups caused the election cycles and laws to change dramatically, and was the outgoing delegate when the office became the chief executive of the region, going on to serve in that capacity after Lewis and Clark’s coup. While she was a defender, her experience with coups also taught her that some raiders could be friendly or even allies, and she had a new appreciation for the diversity of the faction, at least in those days. Great Bights Mum’s very identity came from combating rogues, in her case Great Bight, with her original nation being forgotten. In turbulent times, when the region needed a kind and selfless leader, they turned to her, and in the years that followed Great Bights Mum would become a fixture on the security council and admin team, continuing to serve as a mother figure to the region and even making the jump to Discord in the modern years.

Former English Colony (Erastide): November 13, 2005-February 23, 2006 (102 days); May 16-August 9, 2006 (85 days); November 10-18, 2012 (8 days); November 23, 2012 (12 hours)
The 2nd and 4th delegate, and the first to be elected a second time under the new constitution. Like the other early delegates, she was not involved in matters of governance, and served alongside the 2nd and 5th prime ministers, Poltsamaa and Hersfold. Poltsamaa’s election was a controversial one, given that one of the candidates, Fulhead Land, was excluded due to being a known crony of Cathyy and Insane Power. The government during this time made an effort to reach out and invite back those displaced by the Pixiedance coup, while looking to make the diplomatic corps more independent so stronger ties to gameplay and other regions could start to take shape again. The NPA was also planned for reorganization with a promotion and rank structure once membership made that feasible. During this time the Comms ministry handled reporting of the government’s tasks and accomplishments. A power struggle and displacement of some players in TWP caused some question as to how TNP would respond to one of the closest regions it had at the time, and the government decided to take no position at all, while it condemned the destruction of The Invaders’ forum by the RLA. Poltsamaa also created a Civil Progressive Party which allowed the return of some disgraced or controversial players, including Lone Wolves United (LWU) members Evil Wolf and Scardino, as Blue Wolf and Fedele respectively.

Initially Erastide was to work with Tresville, who had been elected a second time as prime minister, but due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts in his life, he was forced to resign just days after taking office. As a result, the RA held a confirmation vote for his replacement, which ended up being Hersfold, known for extensive work done to organize the new forum. Hersfold also made a point to have TNP condemn the forum crashing that was prevalent at the time, going so far as to issue persona non-grata (PNG) status to anyone who was responsible for it, if they happened to join TNP. During this period Lexicon went on a concerted spamming spree, posting messages on the forum encouraging people to leave TNP “before it is too late.” It was also during this time that Lexicon became more involved on the world stage, raiding alongside Lone Wolves United, and the NPA would meet them on the battlefield. When an incompetent spy for the NPIA was discovered, The Lexicon decided to declare war on TNP, though TNP did not return the favor. The NPIA’s denial of the spying incident, and the war declaration, galvanized the rank and file of The Lexicon and bolstered their commitment to the trolling and interference they would continue to attempt in the months ahead, including a very forceful endorsement campaign on Erastide, who also had to contend with the newest gameplay mechanic, influence. Fortunately, she was assisted by concerned parties from other regions who made up for the hits in endorsements. Erastide would have stayed on for the transition to her successor, Great Bights Mum, except there was some incident involving Insane Power that prompted her to resign instead, putting the vice delegate Unterwasserseestaat into the seat until Great Bights Mum had all the endorsements needed to proceed.

Erastide would try a comeback much later, facing off against JAL, but would come up short by 3 votes, 9-6, marking the first time a former delegate seeking a return to office would be unsuccessful. She would later go on to serve on the Security Council with intermittent breaks, and become of the forum administrators. She would hold the delegacy two more times during McMasterdonia’s first time in office, when she would serve as interim delegate until McMasterdonia could take the in-game delegacy, and again when McMasterdonia was briefly removed from the delegacy for a single update due to a moderation error.

Prydania: June 23-October 4, 2020 (102 days)
The 38th elected delegate, and one notable for being the most prominent roleplayer delegate, considering he had basically no background in gameplay matters. Prydania was fortunate, or unfortunate depending on your point of view, to take office during a relatively peaceful and quiet time in the game. Despite being elected in the highest turnout election in history, it was a modest win, and the first to utilize recently changed election law to allow for instant runoff voting. During his administration the foreign ministry did an extensive study on the collapse of relations between The East and West Pacifics, and he made an effort to work with regions formerly targeted by the Civil Defence Siren for their ties to fascism which claimed to be reformed, and see if the list could be updated to recognize where improvement had been made. He was best known for being a good mediator and leader, who managed his team well and was always the adult in the room.

Foreign events were not really a factor during this term, but Prydania shined when it came to domestic matters. Prydania's bonafides as a former Culture minister and roleplayer really showed as his government worked on keeping people busy with fun activities they could do with a variety of friends and allies. The cards guild flourished under his watch, growing to the point it would become its own ministry in the next administration. The comms ministry continued to have a great output, with an emphasis on roleplay given his status as a key roleplayer in the region. The second World Assembly Symposium was managed by his WA minister, with a roleplay symposium organized and planned to follow. Pacific-Con was launched and concluded early in his term, and a sequel festival with The South Pacific to one that had been done three years earlier, A Drop in the Ocean, was also concluded.

MadJack: October 29, 2021-May 13, 2022 (196 days)
The 42nd elected delegate, MadJack famously found success after having been a DoS player for many years. Above all else, MadJack is probably best known for releasing the statement On Alignment, in the wake of all major raider organizations at the time participating in a thorn of TNP’s ally Stargate. This was also the end of a period of defender domination, where it seemed there was no feasible way to raid successfully, though that would change dramatically in his final months in office.

MadJack is often credited with pioneering the shift to defending in TNP, though he continued to try to find raids with his raider-dominated high command in the NPA, and relied exclusively on raider or independent ministers of defense. In the RA, MadJack’s government sponsored significant legislation that would greatly expand the Freedom of Information Act, make it possible to vote on diplomatic sanctions before the MGC sanctions were even conceived, and to make it possible for prospective citizens to appeal rejection by the forum admins in the continuing effort to reform the citizenship process. In Culture, roleplay had one of the strongest bridges to the main government compared to most delegacies, due to MadJack’s prominent status as a significant roleplayer in that community. He also had the rare opportunity to consider an expansion to WALL, when The Leftist Assembly looked into possibly joining the bloc; ultimately, this did not come to pass due to the lack of relations with any of the signatories, and because the possibility amounted to a passing fancy of the person running their WA affairs.

While the term was largely unobjectionable, especially compared to the worst fears some had about how he might act in office, MadJack’s record on the world stage would be solidified in the years to come, with his many other roles outside of the region, though he would serve again in Culture and FA in subsequent administrations.

Picairn: November 9, 2024-January 16, 2025 (67 days)
The 48th elected delegate, and the first delegate to win as a result of a re-opened nomination, in one of the closest races in TNP history defeating a five-term former delegate. It would also be his best showing, as he would go on to lose re-election and the subsequent election too, becoming only the fourth sitting delegate to lose re-election but the first to lose to a non-former delegate. That being said, Picairn's was a rapid, meteoric ascent. From being a strictly gameside player until TNP was invaded the year before his delegacy, he distinguished himself as one of the government's best staffers in Home Affairs and one of the NPA's finest soldiers, serving as a leading officer in the early days of the war with BoM and TCB, and eventually becoming the head of both Home Affairs and then Defense. Picairn was one of the few to step up to run in a RON campaign for delegate when one of the only two candidates in the race suddenly dropped out. Despite facing much more experienced players, he ran a fierce campaign and managed to win. What was initially expected to be a long transition also ended earlier than anyone had expected, causing an initial plan to explore once again separating the head of state and head of government roles in the delegacy to be scrapped.

Under Picairn, recruitment was expanded, with some of the best manual recruitment numbers that had been seen since the Frontiers and Strongholds update occurred. TNP accelerated a trend that had been growing and took its first official National Sovereigntist position with respect to the World Assembly. Raiding was also greatly expanded in terms of military activity, in an effort to boost turnout and engagement in the NPA. Blue Wolf formed The Commandos, a dedicated raiding team which was intended to find viable targets in the war effort. The NPA was unfortunately largely sidelined in piling efforts for friends and allies, including The Wellspring and Carcassonne, and later The Outback. Restrictions on raiding activity were suspended entirely with a blanket exemption for fascist regions, allowing The Kerberos Collective to be refounded. Sophia, originally on the shortlist for a military strike, cut its treaty with Sparkalia and was the most significant victory the MGC sanctions had seen. The frontier Talonia joined the MGC, and TNP was able to successfully negotiate a treaty with the Augustin Alliance and normalize relations with Lone Wolves United, thanks to their partnership in securing The Outback, one of the two new sinkers that was created during this period. There were challenges too. Picairn had to contend with the treachery of his second foreign affairs minister, which came out of secret peace talks he had authorized with BoM to see if a peaceful resolution to the war could be found (it could not). One of the NPA's missions involved a quorum raid, something he loosened by repealing the delegate directive on quorum raiding, but The Kodiak Republic was hit and Picairn was too slow to reach out to patch things up, causing the UCR to publicly rebuke TNP and force an apology. Additionally, the continued effects of major gameplay changes saw the continued sapping of activity and engagement from staff, and his efforts to turn around a mismanaged staff left by his predecessor did not achieve noticeable gains by the time the next election took place in January. Picairn was the victim of the same anti-incumbency sentiment which swept him into office and swept him out just as quickly. That trend seemed to have been beaten by May, when he sought a rematch against the one who beat him, only to lose again.

HMS Unicorn (r3naissancer): May 16, 2014-January 14, 2015 (243 days)
The 25th elected delegate, and most significant technological contributor the region. Initially known for his extensive work in foreign affairs and his focus on the world assembly, something not many delegates invested much time in prior to his tenure, r3n would become the beating heart of TNP’s technological machine that led it to dominate in so many areas for the next five years. His tech fed the impressive growth in endorsements on the region’s delegate, so much that long after it stopped working and game administration kneecapped the feeders, TNP still has more endorsements than any other feeder delegate. His efforts also spread to the region’s law. The modern citizen legislator model, where all citizens are part of the Regional Assembly, is thanks to his bill finally doing away with a separate Regional Assembly, and a model and inspiration for future citizen legislation that would make RMB posts part of qualifying to maintain citizenship.

During this period, r3n balanced triumphs like TNP’s leading role in the capture of Nazi Europe against the immensely controversial debate over whether Flemingovianism ought to remain the official religion of the region. He oversaw the creation of the Home Affairs ministry, celebrated the milestones of 500 and then 600 endorsements with the aid of the new World Assembly Development Program (WADP), which revolutionized endorsement gathering in the region, but also had to respond to numerous FoIA requests as veteran players sought to pursue old controversies and grievances. The NPA flourished and professionalized while TNP took bold steps toward communications by instituting The Northern Light, and on the world stage TNP enhanced its reputation and expanded its diplomatic reach through the Aurora Alliance with TSP and the World Assembly Legislative League (WALL), which of course would go on to be highly influential in WA affairs in the years ahead. He was less successful culturally, as his theme week initiatives were not consistently deployed by the end of his tenure, nor were his efforts to enhance the roleplay community entirely what he imagined, but these efforts combined with the others led to the most active and engaged executive staff in memory, gave the many new citizens his law created something to do, and laid the groundwork for the next couple of years, which would see a brand new generation thrive and become involved in the region.

The ties r3n had to Europeia also led his technology to initially have a significant impact and importance there as well, and it is likely the regions would not have grown nearly as closely together if not for this shared heritage. Years after his delegacy, he also pioneered the cards community at its earliest iteration, personally fueling TNP’s card farm and establishing a script to make card rewards a viable and attractive incentive for players to participate and get involved in the region. TNP was known simultaneously as a WA and cards powerhouse thanks to his efforts.

Our descriptions are below

Thel D’Ran VS The Twoslit Experiment
Forum founders in two different eras, trailblazers, and ultimately differing in opinion on the ADN. Twoslit founded the NPA, but Thel established Avengers Assemble. Whose initiatives made the most difference?

Better Times (Ballotonia/Free4all) VS Pixiedance
Puppetmaster was impressive, but not possible by the time of Pixiedance. How would Better Times have fared against that legendary rogue?

Nastic (Nastic and Nastic 2) VS Ermarian
Few of the old delegates remain relevant to the players of today, and fewer still maintain active nations all these years later requiring the collection of their cards. Have you ever tried getting their cards? Which seems to be more worth the effort?

Treenudity VS Hepzibah ii (Honeysheep)
They were there and then they weren’t. The footprint they left is covered by years of history, some of which will now include the victor of this fight.

Novare Res (Romanoffia) VS Pasargad
Big personalities and major members of the region’s security council, both answering the call in times of trouble. And for a long time, both maintaining a presence long after their names became just another exhibit in the history books. Which is still living history?

Wilkshire VS Former English Colony (Eras)
Giants of yesterday who still have a presence today, they’ve seen all eras of TNP history and were early leaders who shaped their respective periods. When facing down each other, who will have proven to have shaped the region more to their advantage?

UPS Rail (Sir Paul) VS Great Bight (Mammothistan)
They collaborated on Great Bight’s coup, both hailing from the NPO. But what if they had to engage in a battle of wits against each other? Who would come out on top?

Pixiedance VS Lewis and Clark (Westwind)
Two rogues who came the closest to breaking TNP and permanently changing the region’s community, and had a legitimate start to their time in office. Thanks to them the community had twice as many forums as it otherwise would have needed, and their foreign backers would be antagonistic to the region for years to come. But whose approach was more effective? Who came closer to achieving their victory?

Chodean Kal (Dalimbar) VS Durkadurkiranistan (JAL)
Formerly innocent legitimately elected delegates with quite a record of regional service, going mad by the end. The purges were terrible. One claimed righteous cause for inflicting it upon the region, the other thought it was fun. Whose evil was worse?

Kaschovia VS El Fiji Grande (Fiji)
Bright shining talents at a time when it was needed most, with good-natured and pure intentions sometimes giving way to naivety. These delegates were cultural juggernauts who had a lot of learning to do on the job, and are among the most colorful and well-regarded of all the delegates. Whose light shines brighter here?

Simone Republic VS Chipoli
Both managed to defeat delegates in an election, and brought a new energy to the role that hadn’t been seen before. Would their campaigning succeed against each other?

Grosseschnauzer VS Blue Wolf II (Evil Wolf)
The mutt and the wolf, eternal enemies and rivals. Given the chance to go at each other, who would prevail?

MadJack VS Gorundu
This is less a rematch and more a chance for MadJack to get some revenge, or for Gorundu to finally hash things out. A partnership in times of trouble with a terrible falling out, yet both are also known for being big players in TRR, and have served the same governments. Friends to enemies? Frenemies?

HMS Unicorn (r3naissancer) VS Zemnaya Svoboda (Eluvatar)
Two giants of TNP history, influence still felt to this day. Who has amassed enough over the years to win the hearts and minds of the people today?

Alright, as voting continues on round 2, here are the results from Round 1, and my thoughts on them.

Cote de Tombolo VS Uugyana
Two delegates from the pre-constitutional era who served a single day. The only fair match for either of them is this one. Which one and done wonder is the best?

Result: Tie 13-13 (50%)
You just couldn't decide I guess. Probably for the best, they are basically the same thing historically, much like the round below.

This was the only fight scheduled for both delegates, so it really doesn't matter how they are scored, but it is a great opportunity to preview our method of determining tie breakers at this stage. The Delegate Delirium Selection Panel, who are also responsible for ranking the Round of 32, evaluate the delegates on three categories: milestone achievements, or major events, bills, accomplishments, innovations, etc that they were known for in office, with more weight going to higher offices; electoral strength, which is their track record in elections of any kind in the region, with more weight going to higher offices; and cultural significance, or their impact on the regional community throughout history and during their time as delegate in a reputational sense, or as a symbol of the region or the region's life, symbols of the region, in other words. Each category has a point value (5 for milestone achievements, 3 for electoral strength, and 3 for cultural significance) which the panel then divides between the delegates, with the delegate receiving more points being determined the winner. The panel finds it difficult to rate these delegates, given the lack of information on all categories, and punts on the question just as you did. But we will use this method for the other ties in this competition when we have something to evaluate.

ZeroPositive VS United Individuals
A few people briefly held the delegacy during those easy endorsement swap days, these two were both there for only 8 days. Who stands out more?

Result: ZeroPositive 14-9 (60.9%)
Two identical delegates with the same lack of a record, looks like you all felt Zero is a cooler name.

ZeroPositive's rank is now 1-0 and will remain so, as this was their first and only fight. United Individuals finishes 0-1. Neither one will be advancing to the Round of 32.

Result: The Twoslit Experiment 15-11 (57.7%)
I'm actually not surprised this one was as close it was. On the one hand, Nastic showed up a lot in those early days and really was the most significant delegate at that time, but Twoslit is the one who established TNP's offline community and military, and build the initial bridges to defenders that would give the region a role in foreign policy. None of what happens after happens without that early investment, and he would go on to be the root admin on that forum until he made the mistake of punishing the Pixiedance coup government by disabling their posting privileges. When the rightful government took back power and made a new forum to avoid keeping him as root, he appears to have not made the transition to the new forum.

The Twoslit Experiment is now 1-0 and Nastic is 0-1.

Result: Magicality 24-2 (92.3%)
I'm not surprised. Mikestonia is known for being the first on the list, but we don't even know when he started - he might not actually be first. And what record or story is there there? Nothing to grab on to. Magicality has history and accomplishments and a name that goes down in legend, not to mention a tragic end. There's drama there! The fight was mostly a symbolic one, pitting the first on paper against the spiritually first modern delegate closing out the first era of TNP history.

Magicality is now 1-0, Mikestonia of course is 0-1 and will fight no further, obviously failing to advance to the Round of 32.

Result: Magicality 15-8 (65.2%)
This works. Better Times was a crucial player and part of TNP's history, and we are forever grateful for their service. But Better Times was not a real delegate, not like Magicality was. This was a caretaker delegacy, and as we would observe in the months to come, there was a consequence for this service. TNP's gratitude for the ADN's help would give way to paranoia and resentment, and this would complicate future coup responses and diplomatic endeavors. The aftermath of the Great Bight coup and Better Times' involvement would dominate the brief First Constitutional Era in TNP and likely played some role in the conditions leading to the Pixiedance coup a few months later. We will always wonder what it might have been like if Magicality had stuck around, if not to prevent the conditions of that coup, then as a leader in the days after the coup. The vision and the commitment to the new constitution, and the secure status as the clear leader of the region, were something that the subsequent delegates arguably struggled with.

Magicality is now 2-0 and Better Times starts with a 0-1 record. There is still much fight left to be had.

Result: Unterwasserseestaat 14-9 (60.9%)
Obviously the Vice Delegate who held down the fort for the outgoing delegate should win over the accidental delegate who allowed liberation to happen. That one day was a crucial one, of course, but outside of that moment, important as it was, there is simply no comparison here.

Unterwasserseestaat is now 1-0 and will fight once more. Two fights won't help the selection committee put them on the shortlist, but commanding wins like this are certainly not unhelpful in a Cinderella run. Still, I think we know this road doesn't go much further. As for Lungwallabad, fun as the name is, a 0-1 start will also be a finish.

UPS Rail (Sir Paul) VS Shoeless Joe
Not as strongly remembered for their coups as the coups that would follow them, but they were put up to it by some talented players and played their roles well. Who played it better?

Result: UPS Rail (Sir Paul) 17-9 (65.4%)
I get it. Shoeless Joe never had his heart in his coup, and only lasted 4 days. UPS Rail was short-lived, but he worked in concert with Great Bight and had a clear agenda to radically wrest control of the region away from its community. His benefactors in the NPO were a more dedicated and formidable enemy than Lexicon and HEM. If this fight were an actual one, Shoeless Joe's typical way of operating suggests he wouldn't have put up much of a fight.

UPS Rail debuts at 1-0 and Shoeless Joe begins at 0-1.

Result: Wilkshire 19-4 (82.6%)
Not a shocking result. Name recognition, significance as a delegate, and the fact Wilkshire is still here all make victory here more or less assured. Treenudity joins the list of funny names but not much else is known. I don't want to sell them too short, though, they were one of the longer-serving delegates of that time, it's just that history obscures things from those who come later, and they didn't innovate or make an impact like others of their generation.

Wilkshire moves on at 1-0 and Treenudity continues at 0-1.

Blackshear VS Hepzibah ii (Honeysheep)
If I had a nickel for every delegate with a sheep-related name, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but…

Result: Blackshear 20-3 (87%)
Certainly one of the most commanding victories we've seen so far. I hate to give Honeysheep short shrift, but there just isn't much to go off there. This was a quiet time for the office of the delegate and during a period where it was not the head of government, and Honeysheep didn't have the fame that their predecessors or successors did at the time. Blackshear was something special the region hadn't gotten to realize, but would eventually get to experience years later under a newer form of the constitution. It's no contest really.

Blackshear starts at 1-0 and Honeysheep starts at 0-1.

Result: Thel D’Ran 21-5 (80.8%)

Well, Port Thel is a thing, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. In fairness to Sydia, being a two term delegate, and one who spans two eras, is incredibly impressive, but Thel had the distinction of being the delegate-in-exile and the leader to carry the torch after the Great Bight coup. Of course, Sydia was around back then, serving as delegate after Thel, but due to computer issues was unable to complete his diplomatic work, which could have seen TNP and the NPO's successor state make peace. Sydia's second time as delegate, when elections were a thing, allowed them to have more of an impact, but not in as significant a way as Thel unfortunately.

Thel stands at 1-0 while Sydia begins with 0-1.

Result: Ermarian 12-11 (52.2%)

I am not surprised this was such a close one, both delegates held the seat under similar circumstances, and for about the same time, though Pasargad has Ermarian beat by two days. Pasargad's watch eventually ended, however, whereas Ermarian was stuck for the long haul, only losing the delegacy when the accidental delegacy of Groovistan gave way to JAL's second coup. He also arrived following Shoeless Joe's coup, during a very unstable period where the delegate was unable to maintain his endorsements. Ermarian definitely had a tougher period, but was less visible in later years compared to Pasargad. I think this is a fair split.

Ermarian goes on as 1-0, Pasargad starts at 0-1.

Result: Kranostav (Tlomz) 13-10 (56.5%)

This one is mildly surprising, though for many of the voters, I suppose Tlomz is as obscure a name as Tresville, and at least Tresville has a forum named after him. Perhaps given their individual track records as delegate and their profile, this result is a fair one.

Tlomz is 1-0 and Tresville is 0-1.

Result: Grosseschnauzer 16-10 (61.5%)

Sadly New Kervoskia didn't distinguish himself in two terms as delegate, whereas Grosse had one but distinguished himself for most of his career. Like him or hate him, he was a force to be reckoned with, and he made a big impact. This margin seems fair to me, given they are both pretty obscure figures to the layperson these days. Grosse's rather negative reputation doesn't seem to have hurt him here, but NK isn't the strongest of opponents. Subsequent fights should fill the picture in more clearly.

Grosse begins at 1-0 and NK starts at 0-1.

Novare Res (Romanoffia) VS Sundred (Artemis/Orcale)
Two security councillors who kept the seat warm for a time but never were elected in their own right, and have storied careers in the regions that didn’t involve leading it. Who made the greater impression?

Result: Novare Res (Romanoffia) 15-11 (57.7%)

Not bad considering Roman's time as delegate consists of a single day. His tenure as a security councilor and long-time original TNPer, that reputation, is what makes him stand out. Artemis was an outgoing Vice Delegate who held the seat for a month during a lengthy transition, and during his time in the region was known for his other roles, especially Speaker. But I think Roman's reputation and longer time on the Security Council makes him seem like a more significant acting delegate than he really was, especially with his pedigree as an original player.

Roman is 1-0, Artemis is 0-1.

Stars of Sky (Pope Hope) VS Better Times (Ballotonia/Free4all)
These delegates were the caretakers, the ones who held on until the region was ready to move forward with its proper continuation, the heroes who triumphed over the rogues. But which is better, which is the true star?

Result: Stars of Sky (Pope Hope) 14-12 (53.8%)

As a legend in the history of TNP, Stars of Sky is more beloved. Stars of Sky worked harder, had a tougher opponent, had to update surf in the wilderness. The more impressive story by far. But make no mistake, these were both giants of the defender world, and they earned their accolades as heroes. It can be hard to choose, but I think the edge does go to Stars. I also do not recall Stars of Sky having the same politically charged relationship with TNP post-coup, though I suspect old ADN history was not a factor in this vote.

Stars of Sky begins with 1-0, Better Times falls to 0-2, certainly not an auspicious start to their career here.

Pixiedance VS Great Bight (Mammothistan)
Speaking of those infamous rogues the previous pair fought, which titan of evil in TNP’s past was the greatest?

Result: Great Bight (Mammothistan) 15-11 (57.7%)

Great Bight has a different kind of aura than Pixiedance. They cast long shadows, but there was a malevolence to Pixiedance that Great Bight didn't have. Great Bight played along with GBM's joke, it's hard to imagine Pixiedance doing the same. Pixiedance is the boogeyman that everyone has sought to prevent from happening again, and cast a pall over the region that almost broke it. In many ways, Pixiedance is by far the more serious threat and successful rogue, and ought to have won this fight. But there's a lot of factors in determining a favorite. Great Bight was the first real rogue (sorry UPS Rail), plays into TNP's pirate history, gave us GBM as an eternal legacy. Great Bight was more fun, and Puppetmaster was an awesome strategy. The TNP psyche clearly has a mixed reaction to Great Bight, and that blend certainly lends him a credible case for winning out here.

Great Bight starts at 1-0, Pixiedance starts at 0-1.

Durkadurkiranistan (JAL) VS Emperor Matthuis
These rogues knew something about legitimate and straightforward service before they took the reins by force, and were better known for their evil turns than their legitimate work. They also have the distinction of having taken the delegacy two separate times.

Result: Durkadurkiranistan (JAL) 14-12 (53.8%)

I am somewhat surprised by how close this fight was. This was the correct result, but I believe JAL earned a wider win. He couped twice on purpose, whereas Matthuis either legitimately accidentally took the delegacy the first time or chickened out of the coup. JAL set purge records, Matthuis didn't have close to the same endurance or purge power. And JAL was able to build support through a mostly legitimate delegacy, whereas Matthuis had to steal from a sitting delegate. They really are not in the same league, and only one has been condemned by the security council. There must be something intriguing about this guy for him to do so well compared to a rogue juggernaut like JAL.

JAL starts at 1-0, Matthuis starts at 0-1.

Result: Chodean Kal (Dalimbar) 14-9 (60.9%)

Dali wore rogue better, according to your votes, in a convincing win. To me, this has shades of the Great Bight vs. Pixiedance match, in that rosy feelings about Dali probably color his support more than Westwind's. The coups were significant but Westwind almost broke the region in two, and Dali of course would go on to do more positive, non-coup governance in the years to come. As brutal and uncompromising these rogues could be, there was always more than a little appeal to reform, to finding a better way, and a loyalty to a cause that could eb seen as a different flavor of TNP patrotism. This may have been a front, but they certainly seemed to believe it, and the region was forced to change as a result, especially after Dali's coup. Perhaps the direct constitutional reform following his coup is a significant reason he has the edge in this matchup, though plenty would argue in terms of length and intensity, Westwind had the superior coup.

Dali debuts at 1-0, Westwind starts at 0-1.

Result: Plembobria 19-7 (73.1%)

Tomb is one of those delegates who, to the extent anyone knows him at all nowadays, knows him to be a bad character, recalling his conviction for violating his oath of office or his dirty electoral tricks. But like Plemby, he was a shining bright star who rose quickly, and commanded some of the most loyal and enthusiastic followers of any delegate. Plemby could never lay claim to such a fanbase, but he did win the respect of many over the course of his career and won two terms in a respectable fashion, despite having scandals of his own. He overcame them, however, just as overcame Tomb in this match. this does strike me as a rather unexpected result, given Tomb's popularity was often flash in the pan and evaporated as quickly as his time in the region would.

Plemby moves on 1-0 while Tomb is 0-1.

El Fiji Grande (Fiji) VS Jamie Anumia (Chimes/Cove)
Lovable and kind, earnest and sometimes in over their head, two delegates who shined when they served and were coming up, but chose to let the spotlight recede after their stint.

Result: El Fiji Grande (Fiji) 21-5 (80.8%)

Unsurprisingly, Fiji dominates. Jamie has become somewhat obscure despite being generally well-liked and having a presence in other areas of the game, most notably TRR. Fiji has been retired for years but was always around to lend a helping hand, and became somewhat of a guru for many executive staffers. Jamie had more time in office and notched more concrete achievements, but it was in an interregnum period between McM terms in office, and Jamie was far from the boastful sort who would highlight all the wins that happened during those two terms. On name recognition alone this one is no contest, though scholards armed with the full list of records and events might argue this one should be much closer. They're not voting though!

Fiji rides on 1-0, Jamie begins 0-1.

Gladio II VS Blue Wolf II (Evil Wolf)
Stalwarts of the NPA, successful raider delegates, brief single term runs. Who made the most of his chance?

Result: Gladio II 16-7 (69.6%)

Gladio is one of the good raiders, I guess. Strictly speaking, the question posed in the initial write-up is not one that I think Gladio can answer successfully. Each had a single term, in rather contentious and challenging times, but Gladio was precluded from foreign affairs due to TNP's pariah status during his term. Wolf did not have anything like that, except that he was the source of controversy within the region and it proved to be a distraction. Gladio had a fast transition to the in-game delegacy, whereas Wolf spent most of his delegacy not having the in-game seat. Gladio was respected and a successful military general, probably the definitive one people thought of when they thought of the NPA from 2016-2018. Wolf brought it back but his record on the field never came close to Gladio's, and there is much to be said about being a low-key, calm leader who doesn't make any waves, as opposed to whatever colorful description you give to Wolf. It is nice to see people do not hold Gladio's eventual BoM affiliation against him here.

Gladio advances 1-0, Wolf starts 0-1.

Simone Republic VS Francois Isidore (Robespierre)
Originally matched up in a previous election. Inexplicably popular and then popular to revile, a single term of unexpected and unpredictable events. Whose impact packed more of a punch?

Result: Simone Republic 13-10 (56.5%)

This rematch went about the same way as their last fight, though with none of the same video dissection. Simone may have grated at times and may have stumbled, but he tried things, many things. Robes was content to focus on what he did best and largely leave the rest to other people. Neither one burned the place to the ground despite some people's worst fears, but TNP was not exactly soaring to new heights either. A lot of personal baggage and ire earned over years is likely what mattered the most here, and the people decided Robes had slightly worse baggage.

Simone is 1-0, Robes is 0-1.

Hulldom VS Gorundu
Tied together by fate and controversy, parallels as their career heights fell with terrible crashes. Their names still receive a lot of disrespect all these years later. One of them has a little more love left for them than the other, which one?

Result: Gorundu 21-5 (80.8%)

Speaking of controversial delegates popular to dunk on, we have the two resignation delegates of that terrible 2023, and the people have decided Gorundu is more fondly remembered between the two of them. I suspect these numbers would have been very different if Hulldom was solely evaluated on his term as delegate, but unfortunately subsequent events carry a great deal of weight. It is hard to cheer on a traitor, and hard to overlook an uneven and embarrassing finish with the full context of his questionable deeds known. Gorundu certainly had a much stronger start and an impressive management of a crisis that kept his tenure strong right up until he took his trip and miscalculated the handling of his absence. This is almost certainly a matter of looking better than Hulldom in comparison, but I believe the record largely backs up this result as well.

Gorundu continues to have a strong start at 1-0, Hulldom continues to disappoint at 0-1.

Zemnaya Svoboda (Eluvatar) VS Flemingovia
Two of the biggest names in TNP history, they’ve faced off before, and held the office numerous times. The turtle and god, which is supreme?

Result: Zemnaya Svoboda (Eluvatar) 12-11 (52.2%)

Another great example of why you got to get out to vote in these things! It honestly isn't surprising to see this one so close, these are big TNPers and both in perpetual contention for winning this competition. We're all well-acquainted with their work, though perhaps it is fair to mark Flemingovia down a bit for his absence in modern TNP. Those early days were plenty significant though, and culturally he remains as relevant as ever. But this one really feels like it could have gone either way and this result bears that out.

Elu advances at 1-0, Flemingovia starts at 0-1, but there are more big fights ahead for both, their schedules are stacked, and how they fare will play a major role in how favorably these bracket favorites are for advancement.

Great Bights Mum VS Former English Colony (Eras)
If the region has founding fathers, these are its mothers. Longtime security officials who fought every coup they came across, and kept coming back for more. If they ever had to cross blades themselves, who would win?

Result: Great Bights Mum 20-3 (87%)

The result doesn't surprise me, not even the margin. It is hard to hold a candle to GBM, and Eras was finished with big TNP politics by the time GBM first took the seat. They both fought in the trenches during those early coups, but it was GBM who would have to keep fighting again and again, becoming the region's default delegate whenever a coup had to be fought. Eras would return time and again, and eventually resume her place in the security council, but GBM never left. Eras was a fine early delegate and served more than once, but GBM simply had way more going on during his stints in the job. We do consider them to be rather comparable in terms of their impact and significance in the region's history and administration, but paper credentials are only one aspect. This one is probably a fair representation, and one of the only matchups where Eras would probably be on the back foot to this extent.

GBM has a great start at 1-0, Eras starts off 0-1.

Result: MadJack 16-7 (69.6%)

Push comes to shove, MadJack is obviously the kign of RP, but Prydania is probably the modern embodiment of it. This is a competition that reckons with history however, and not only was MadJack a giant there, the political aspect is even more clear cut. Prydania had one of the quietist periods in gameplay, MadJack contended with the rise of BoM and a realignment. We do feel they played similar roles in their RP career, and deservedly sit among the region's moderation teams. But as with our prior match, being cut from the same cloth does not mean the experiences are precisely the same. This one turned out about as could have been expected.

MadJack begins 1-0, Prydania is 0-1.

Chipoli VS Kaschovia
Opponents for the delegacy, known for serving in a variety of roles, many of them the same, the kid prodigies who grew into old establishment names. Quiet perseverance, rather than defined by flash, but which one flashes more in the voters’ minds?

Result: Tied 13-13 (50%)

Perhaps this is not as surprising as it seems. Of the stable of talent the region has today, these two are some of the most recent and capable, serving the region in their own ways even now. They aren't as alive or engaged as they once were, but they are wearing their veteran status well, and can stand ready at a moment's notice should they be called upon. Kasch won decisively when they fought for the delegacy, and was one of our most popular delegates, but Chipoli persevered and won two close races back to back against a new popular delegate, Picairn, who had won in a shocking election just the year before. The voters can be forgiven for being unsure who to rank above the other.

Fortunately, we have a system for resolving such a tie. The selection committee convened a panel of three judges and evaluated these delegates under the three criteria I previously mentioned (milestone achievements, electoral strength, cultural significance). This led to the following scores:

Judge 1:
Chipoli: Milestone Achievements: 2; Electoral Strength: 2; Cultural Significance: 2
Kasch: Milestone Achievements: 3; Electoral Strength: 1; Cultural Significance: 1
Total: Chipoli 6-5

Judge 2:
Chipoli: Milestone Achievements: 2; Electoral Strength: 2; Cultural Significance: 2
Kasch: Milestone Achievements: 3; Electoral Strength: 1; Cultural Significance: 1
Total: Chipoli 6-5

Judge 3:
Chipoli: Milestone Achievements: 2; Electoral Strength: 2; Cultural Significance: 3
Kasch: Milestone Achievements: 3; Electoral Strength: 1; Cultural Significance: 0
Total: Chipoli 7-4

Consequently, Chipoli is declared the winner of this match, and starts at 1-0, with Kasch starting at 0-1.

Result: HMS Unicorn (r3naissancer) 15-8 (65.2%)

On paper this was the expected result. The weight of history is immense. But Picairn pulled off a miracle before (I should know), and r3n is not as well-known by modern TNPers. His performance in previous iterations of this event suggest that a lot of his impact has been lost, but they also show he still performs well compared to many others of his generation. This is a strong, but not quite overwhelming, showing, and that seems about right. Had turnout been higher, I think Picairn would have pulled numbers along similar lines to his famous match against Prydania in last year's event. But the technical wizard who put TNP on the map and whose efforts reveeberate even to this day was always going to be tough to take on. The fact Picairn was considered worthy of this challenge should itself signal what a heavyweight he already is, and with so much career left to realize.

r3n cruises to 1-0, Picairn fights on 0-1.

Part 2 of Round 2, here we are, cast your vote here: https://forms.gle/EwRUsMMqP4JRim9aA

Below are our descriptions of the matchups

Magicality VS Wilkshire
Pillars of their community in an age of discovery and building what TNP would become. Their finest work is known only to their contemporaries, but their names live on. Wilkshire is more a living monument, still keeping his nation alive, while in many ways Magicality is TNP, lending the region the name of its capitol. Who wins out?

Unterwasserseestaat VS Sundred (Artemis/Orcale)
A month in the seat, but Artemis was not even the vice delegate, and had no invaders to boot out. Nevertheless, his reach still extended fairly far. Is it far enough to win here?

Blackshear VS Sydia
Both delegates transcended their own times to serve in the role when it was very different years after their original time in office. Was one of them more successful after two different lives?

New Kervoskia VS The Tresville Element (Tresville)
They had been around for a long time, they earned their chance, but they are eclipsed by all the delegates around them, lost in the crowd, and known a bit for their disappearances even while in office. Who left enough of a mark to leave one in this competition?

Emperor Matthuis VS Shoeless Joe
They cooped, but so what? They held on for days and played at the big leagues, but their purges were not so great, and their cultural impact negligible. Nuisances mostly. Which one played their part better?

Stars of Sky (Pope Hope) VS Former English Colony (Eras)
Defender giants who liberated the region from tyranny, what are they capable of when competing against one another?

Plembobria VS Jamie Anumia (Chimes/Cove)
Two of the youngest delegates in history, with brief and undeniable runs, forced to have the unenviable task of serving between regional legends (Jamie having to serve after and then before McMasterdonia). Their time in office was far from quiet or without incident, and the work they did informed the governments to come. Whose work paid off the most?

Chodean Kal (Dalimbar) VS The Democratic Republic of Tomb (Tomb)
Charisma in spades, with the slick tricks to gain an edge in politics. Empire or dedicated staff to back them up, which would successfully overcome the machinations of the other?

Gladio II VS Kranostav (Tlomz)
One-term delegates probably better known for their other work than their time in office. Both led the army, but commanded very different kinds of loyalty. Whose mark is greater?

Durkadurkiranistan (JAL) VS Lewis and Clark (Westwind)
These lovable rogues were known for being mischievous and having a sense of humor, but also for their brutal unforgiving purges. Both were legitimately elected and decided to coup. Both set records with the impact of their dastardly deeds. Now one will have one over on the other.

Francois Isidore (Robespierre) VS Hulldom
They did not care for each other, but both can agree they would never return to this region, having stumbled a lot along the way. When standing against each other, which one stands taller?

Great Bights Mum VS Flemingovia
This is the closest thing to seeing mom and dad fighting as you’re going to get in TNP. Heroes and preservers of democracy, who never stopped fighting for this region, now they must fight once more, but against each other.

Prydania VS Picarin
These two faced off in last year’s event, when Prydania won by a single vote. Another year, more time exploring their respective areas, will the outcome be the same again?

Kaschovia VS MadJack
Modern giants in TNP, and still making waves in the game. They never faced off at the ballot box, so now they must battle here.[/SIZE]

We are onto Round 3! Vote Here: https://forms.gle/83MDfvNEM87mYRyk7

Thel D’Ran VS Magicality
Today they are place names on the forum. Yesterday they were partners who worked to build the first constitutional government in TNP, until disaster struck. The line connecting the eras of the region’s history runs through them, with Thel taking the torch. Paired against each other, though, how do they fare?

Pixiedance VS Durkadurkiranistan (JAL)
Infamous menaces, scourges of the RMB, and enough of an impact to remain a boogeyman long after their reign of terror ended. Pitted against each other, which would effectively subjugate the other?

Emperor Matthuis VS UPS Rail (Sir Paul)
As agents of hostile forces, they could not claim empires of their own, but they had style and put on a convincing face - at first. Which rogue was more compelling?

Stars of Sky (Pope Hope) VS Great Bight (Mammothistan)
If Stars of Sky had carried the torch immediately following the Great Bight coup, how might TNP have developed differently? Did Stars of Sky have the same finesse to bring Puppetmaster down on the pirate pretender?

Shoeless Joe VS New Kervoskia
Joe couped NK, and he never took the delegacy again after that. In a fair fight where he sees him coming, can he get the best of him this time?

Blackshear VS Grosseschnauzer
Constitutions have fathers too, and these were two of those fathers in TNP. Time and circumstance led Blackshear away, only for him to return, after which Grosseschnauzer’s influence was embedded into the region. But Blackshear has always been fondly remembered for those early days, and held his own in a modern TNP. One on one, would he hold his own against the dog?

Francois Isidore (Robespierre) VS Gladio II
NPA generals whose political prowess is not nearly as clear. Which out guns the other?

Kranostav (Tlomz) VS Gorundu
A lot happened and not all of it was good. After their time they seemed to fade, though they stuck around. What good was there is often overlooked, and they tend to be forgotten. One will be remembered after this fight.

Simone Republic VS Jamie Anumia (Chimes/Cove)
Some delegates don’t easily fit the mold of the office, and defy expectations to label or characterize. Some delegates march to the beat of their own drum, and sneak up on you. These delegates managed that in their own time, but have never crossed paths before, until this competition. When this unusual encounter is finished, who will remain?

Blue Wolf II (Evil Wolf) VS Hulldom
Pariahs in many corners, sometimes friends of the NPO, these two delegates couldn’t seem more different on paper, yet actually share more than just an affinity for Lone Wolves United. Some of the most polarizing figures in the game, but how polarizing will the votes be when all is said and done?

Flemingovia VS HMS Unicorn (r3naissancer)
Two of the all-time greats, duking it out for your amusement. Father of the region, father of the machine. Champions of the people, icons of the region whose influence continues to be felt. Which reigns supreme?

Zemnaya Svoboda (Eluvatar) VS Great Bights Mum
In contrast to our previous two delegates, these ones still walk the earth! Their influence likewise stretches far and they have served numerous times, but which one outdoes the other? You decide!

Picairn VS Chipoli
Over time these two have become somewhat rivals, having faced off for the delegacy in two back to back contests, and rotating on the shortlist for minister roles in other governments. Chipotle has always won these exchanges at the ballot box, but what about here?

Prydania VS El Fiji Grande (Fiji)
One term to prove they had what it takes, but their true influence has probably been felt in their supporting work in the years since they he
ld the highest office. Who could more easily command the confidence and the loyalty of the region today?

With the first half of Round 3 just about wrapped up, here are the results from Round 2 and my thoughts on them.

Result: Magicality 14-11 (56%)

I think the relatively close result here is appropriate. Wilkshire has been around forever, but Magicality has existed as a symbol that entire time.

Magicality improves to 3-0 while Wilkshire slips to 1-1.

Treenudity VS Hepzibah ii (Honeysheep)
They were there and then they weren’t. The footprint they left is covered by years of history, some of which will now include the victor of this fight.

Result: Treenudity 15-9 (62.5%)

I still don’t have much to say about these two, though I would be remiss if I did not mention Treenudity was apparently the first significant roleplayer delegate, and was notable at the time for their very detailed roleplay. I doubt this factored into the votes though.

In either case, these two will fight no more in this competition, meaning that these results will be their final ones and in all likelihood insufficient for placement in our Round of 32. So we say goodbye once more to these mysterious old names. Treenudity ends 1-1 and Honeysheep ends 0-2.

Thel D’Ran VS The Twoslit Experiment
Forum founders in two different eras, trailblazers, and ultimately differing in opinion on the ADN. Twoslit founded the NPA, but Thel established Avengers Assemble. Whose initiatives made the most difference?

Result: Tie 12-12 (50%)

Evidently you all could not decide which way to go here. I don’t blame you. These are two foundational delegates whose contributions defined not only the early period of TNP, but set the stage for everything to come. It’s not necessarily as simple as deciding which foundational item, the military or the forum, was more important, but that’s certainly one way to look at it. This one is a job for the selection committee.

Judge 1:
Thel: Milestone Achievements: 1; Electoral Strength: 2; Cultural Significance: 0
Twoslit: Milestone Achievements: 4; Electoral Strength: 1; Cultural Significance: 3
Total: Twoslit 8-3

Judge 2:
Thel: Milestone Achievements: 2; Electoral Strength: 1; Cultural Significance: 2
Twoslit: Milestone Achievements: 3; Electoral Strength: 2; Cultural Significance: 1
Total: Twoslit 6-5

Judge 3:
Thel: Milestone Achievements: 2; Electoral Strength: 1; Cultural Significance: 2
Twoslit: Milestone Achievements: 3; Electoral Strength: 2; Cultural Significance: 1
Total: Twoslit 6-5

Consequently, Twoslit is declared the winner, and improves to 2-0, while Thel falls to 1-1.

Unterwasserseestaat VS Sundred (Artemis/Orcale)
A month in the seat, but Artemis was not even the vice delegate, and had no invaders to boot out. Nevertheless, his reach still extended fairly far. Is it far enough to win here?

Result: Sundred (Artemis/Oracle) 16-9 (64%)

I chalk this one up to name recognition, but I suppose Artemis’s reach extending to other areas probably helped. A more diverse portfolio helps to distinguish from what is otherwise the same general situation, even if Artemis wasn’t the VD when it happened.

Artemis will go on to fight again, now at 1-1, but this is the end of the road for Unterwasserseestaat, also 1-1, who certainly won’t be making an appearance in the Round of 32.

Nastic (Nastic and Nastic 2) VS Ermarian
Few of the old delegates remain relevant to the players of today, and fewer still maintain active nations all these years later requiring the collection of their cards. Have you ever tried getting their cards? Which seems to be more worth the effort?

Result: Nastic (Nastic and Nastic 2) 17-7 (70.8%)

This is an incredibly good showing for Nastic, who to be fair had more of a legitimate claim to the delegacy than Ermarian. The period Ermarian held the seat was a bad one for TNP, and didn’t help with distinguishing one delegate from another. Ultimately the region was couped on Ermarian’s watch, which has to matter as well.

This is the last match for both of them, and while Nastic’s victory is a commanding one, a 1-1 finish even with that strong win is not enough to earn a spot in the Round of 32. Ditto for Ermarian, who finishes 1-1 but with a razor thin victory in the first round.

Stars of Sky (Pope Hope) VS Former English Colony (Eras)
Defender giants who liberated the region from tyranny, what are they capable of when competing against one another?

Result: Stars of Sky (Pope Hope) 19-6 (76%)

I will admit to being slightly surprised at this result. It’s such a clear victory for Stars of Sky, despite the clear true significant delegate being Eras. Stars is a hero and part of a fantastic story in TNP history, but is ultimately a transitional delegate. Eras put in a lot of time over two terms and is a commended nation. I think Eras underperformed here and it comes down to her relative unknown profile after having had to step away from SC and admin work again. Stars and the Pixiedance story will always be there.

Stars of Sky improves to 2-0, Eras falls further to 0-2.

Better Times (Ballotonia/Free4all) VS Pixiedance
Puppetmaster was impressive, but not possible by the time of Pixiedance. How would Better Times have fared against that legendary rogue?

Result: Pixiedance 13-11 (54.2%)

I see this as a vote of confidence in Stars compared to Better Times (exemplified by Stars winning in that head to head) and acknowledging that Pixiedance needed just the right opponent to come out on top for the coup to end as it did. It’s a close result but I think I agree that Stars was the right person at the right time. All we know of Better Times was those old tactics that could not be repeated, and the fact that relations with the ADN were frayed by the time of Pixiedance. It’s unclear how that would have impacted the post-coup landscape.

Pixiedance improves to 1-1, Better Times falls further to 0-3, likely falling out of contention for the Round of 32.

Blackshear VS Sydia
Both delegates transcended their own times to serve in the role when it was very different years after their original time in office. Was one of them more successful after two different lives?

Result: Blackshear 17-8 (68%)

I understand this result and agree with it. Blackshear had more to show for his time in office, and there’s a much clearer idea of his personality and what to expect from his delegacy. Sydia is a bit of a mystery even having been around when records were better kept.

Blackshear improves to 2-0, Sydia falls further to 0-2.

New Kervoskia VS The Tresville Element (Tresville)
They had been around for a long time, they earned their chance, but they are eclipsed by all the delegates around them, lost in the crowd, and known a bit for their disappearances even while in office. Who left enough of a mark to leave one in this competition?

Result: The Tresville Element (Tresville) 15-10 (60%)

I believe this is the right result. NK has barely any record to show, and Tresville, when he was around, had more of a footprint. The disappearance halfway through does count against him though. And when that happens the two are not so different. There’s enough there for Tresville to be favored, but probably with a similar margin to what we got in this fight.

Tresville improves to 1-1, New Kervoskia falls to 0-2.

Novare Res (Romanoffia) VS Pasargad
Big personalities and major members of the region’s security council, both answering the call in times of trouble. And for a long time, both maintaining a presence long after their names became just another exhibit in the history books. Which is still living history?

Result: Pasargad 16-8 (66.7%)

Roman held the seat for a single day. He was always in the security periphery like Pasargad. This result strikes me as fair. It shouldn’t be discounted that Pasargad continued to have a presence on the site even after Roman’s final blow up.

Speaking of final, this serves as the final fight for Roman, though both competitors share a 1-1 record. This likely isn’t enough to earn a spot in the Round of 32, but you never know.

Emperor Matthuis VS Shoeless Joe
They cooped, but so what? They held on for days and played at the big leagues, but their purges were not so great, and their cultural impact negligible. Nuisances mostly. Which one played their part better?

Result: Shoeless Joe 14-11 (56%)

I’m surprised but not surprised. Shoeless Joe has aura, as the kids say, and I know for a fact many liked the name. There’s also something a bit noble about he handled his coup, and the quieter role he played in these events including past coups. I certainly didn’t know of his background and I doubt many out there had a better idea. Matthuis on the other hand wears everything on his sleeve. We know he tried to make a play for being a bigger deal than he actually was, and went for flash and spectacle when he ejected his endorsements into TRR for a cheap takeover there. This result feels right.

Shoeless Joe improves to 1-1, Emperor Matthuis falls further to 0-2.

UPS Rail (Sir Paul) VS Great Bight (Mammothistan)
They collaborated on Great Bight’s coup, both hailing from the NPO. But what if they had to engage in a battle of wits against each other? Who would come out on top?

Result: Great Bight (Mammothistan) 14-10 (58.3%)

I expected this result but perhaps with a stronger margin favoring Great Bight. The two are often considered something of a package deal, with the focus going to Great Bight, but UPS Rail had to start things off, and at least initially pretend to have some sort of noble intentions. Perhaps the voters have given him that credit that is often denied.

Great Bight improves to 2-0, UPS Rail falls to 1-1.

Wilkshire VS Former English Colony (Eras)
Giants of yesterday who still have a presence today, they’ve seen all eras of TNP history and were early leaders who shaped their respective periods. When facing down each other, who will have proven to have shaped the region more to their advantage?

Result: Former English Colony (Eras) 15-9 (62.5%)

Now that’s more like it Eras. Two early delegates but one who had a juicier and more substantial role in her day, and one whose continued presence in the future was more than just spam posts on the forum. I believe this is the appropriate outcome.

Eras improves to 1-2 while Wilkshire falls to 1-2.

Result: Lewis and Clark (Westwind) 18-6 (75%)

I’m surprised at the sheer gulf in their respective vote totals. If any rogue delegate came close to pulling off what Pixiedence nearly did, it would be Westwind, but I don’t know if the difference between them is this great, and this favorable to Westwind. It probably helps that Westwind had a much stronger tenure as legitimate delegate compared to Pixiedance, and the messy ending of the Pixiedance coup certainly couldn’t be seen in the Crimson Order. But while Westwind came close to breaking the region in half, the dominance Pixiedance achieved simply didn’t exist in Westwind’s coup. Perhaps it’s an illustration of how well-liked Westwind is even today compared to how unabashedly villainous Pixiedance was.

Westwind improves to 1-1, Pixiedance falls further to 1-2.

Result: Chodean Kal (Dalimbar) 16-8 (66.7%)

At the end of of the day, Dali cares more. Not just in terms of what is better for the TNP community, but in crafting his coup. There’s much to be said about record-setting purges, but there’s more to a good coup than that. JAL seemed to be rather uninterested in anything but basic authoritarian strongman power and disrespect for institutions and democratic trappings. JAL’s coups were simple things, blunt instruments, and the first was carried out on his last day as an otherwise underwhelming legitimate delegate. If anything I feel this result should have been more clearly in Dali’s favor, though being the only rogue to get two coups and to do that much damage does count for something.

Dali improves to 2-0, JAL falls to 1-1.

Gladio II VS Kranostav (Tlomz)
One-term delegates probably better known for their other work than their time in office. Both led the army, but commanded very different kinds of loyalty. Whose mark is greater?

Result: Kranostav (Tlomz) 19-6 (76%)

In terms of gameplay position and activity, Tlomz is clearly favored, and it’s not even close. In terms of internals, I don’t think it’s as clearly any one of them who comes out on top. And Gladio did know when to call it quits and not lose to his successor. But Tlomz didn’t vanish after his term expired, and he certainly didn’t join up with enemies who attacked our allies.

Tlomz rises to 2-0, Gladio slides down to 1-1.

Francois Isidore (Robespierre) VS Hulldom
They did not care for each other, but both can agree they would never return to this region, having stumbled a lot along the way. When standing against each other, which one stands taller?

Result: Francois Isidore (Robespierre) 17-8 (68%)

Treason is costly when trying to win one of these competitions. On paper, Hulldom had the better pedigree but to be fair, his term was not a good illustration of that. It is also fair to say that things that most caused people to turn on these two happened before or after their delegacies, through being extorted and exercising that poor judgment definitely happened while Hulldom was delegate. Robes turned out a complete if uninspiring term in office, Hulldom had to resign due to blowing things up. This result probably makes a lot of sense.

Robes improves to 1-1, Hulldom continues to fall to 0-2.

Result: Plembobria 17-8 (68%)

This is about right. There’s a lot more to be said about Plemby’s time in office, both in terms of accomplishments and the stories to be told. Even though Plemby is not as well known as he once was, his term was the start of the next generation, and he held court for those players quite effectively.

Plemby improves to 2-0, Jamie falls to 0-2.

Result: Kaschovia 13-11 (54.2%)

Closer than I would have expected. By most accounts, Kasch is by far the most accomplished modern delegate we have seen, and Fiji had a rather solid but underwhelming term. Both were and in many cases remain quite popular. But the outcome is right I feel. Fiji’s contributions certainly transcend a single four month period, and that is reflected in these results.

Kasch improves to 1-1, Fiji falls to 1-1.

Simone Republic VS Chipoli
Both managed to defeat delegates in an election, and brought a new energy to the role that hadn’t been seen before. Would their campaigning succeed against each other?

Result: Chipoli 19-5 (79.2%)

Unsurprising. Two terms is more than one, Chipoli has much more of a track record, and he didn’t stumble on the world stage.

Chipotle improves to 2-0, Simone drops to 1-1.

Grosseschnauzer VS Blue Wolf II (Evil Wolf)
The mutt and the wolf, eternal enemies and rivals. Given the chance to go at each other, who would prevail?

Result: Tie 12-12 (50%)

Once again, you couldn’t make up your mind. These two gave a lot to the region, and were involved for much longer than their limited time in the delegacy. And they have probably caused more strife and arguments than any combination of players in the region. Maybe that’s why this was so difficult. The committee will take it from here.

Judge 1:
Grosse: Milestone Achievements: 5; Electoral Strength: 1; Cultural Significance: 2
Wolf: Milestone Achievements: 0; Electoral Strength: 2; Cultural Significance: 1
Total: Grosse 8-3

Judge 2:
Grosse: Milestone Achievements: 2; Electoral Strength: 0; Cultural Significance: 1
Wolf: Milestone Achievements: 3; Electoral Strength: 3; Cultural Significance: 2
Total: Wolf 8-3

Judge 3:
Grosse: Milestone Achievements: 3; Electoral Strength: 1; Cultural Significance: 1
Wolf: Milestone Achievements: 2; Electoral Strength: 2; Cultural Significance: 2
Total: Wolf 6-5

Consequently, Wolf is declared the winner of this match, and improves to 1-1, while Grosse slips to 1-1.

Chodean Kal (Dalimbar) VS The Democratic Republic of Tomb (Tomb)
Charisma in spades, with the slick tricks to gain an edge in politics. Empire or dedicated staff to back them up, which would successfully overcome the machinations of the other?

Result: Chodean Kal (Dalimbar) 19-6 (76%)

Tomb had a lot going on during his brief tenure as delegate, much as that frustrated many in the community. The most lasting thing might be the separation of the role play community from the rest of the community. Tomb developed a reputation for slimy tricks and disingenuous behavior.

Dali improves again to 3-0, Tomb falls to 0-2.

Frenemies?

Result: MadJack 18-6 (75%)

Total vindication for MadJack, though not exactly shocking. Gorundu went on to nearly be recalled after being subjected to two back to back recall motions. While MadJack’s standing in the world has shifted in the years since, his standing in TNP has not. Gorundu’s stock, meanwhile, is still bad pretty much everywhere, and he is mostly retired.

MadJack improves to 2-0, Gorundu slips to 1-1.

Result: Lewis and Clark (Westwind) 15-10 (60%)

The way I see this one is not so different from how I see JAL’s match against Dali, and I think the results speak to this as well. JAL does not get as much credit for the quality of his atrocities as a rogue delegate compared to the more political and organizational work his fellow rogues tended to employ in their own coups. I think the vote is emphasizing the right things.

Westwind improves again to 2-1, JAL falls again to 1-2.

Prydania VS Picarin
These two faced off in last year’s event, when Prydania won by a single vote. Another year, more time exploring their respective areas, will the outcome be the same again?

Result: Prydania 13-12 (52%)

Prydania by a single vote for the second time in a row. The outcome really was the same again. Prydania continues to possibly overperform in this competition compared to his official track record, but there is obviously something to it, because he was delegate 6 years ago at this point.

Prydania improves to 1-1, Picairn slides down to 0-2.

Great Bights Mum VS Flemingovia
This is the closest thing to seeing mom and dad fighting as you’re going to get in TNP. Heroes and preservers of democracy, who never stopped fighting for this region, now they must fight once more, but against each other.

Result: Great Bights Mum 15-10 (60%)

The ever-present mother versus the absentee father. I think this is right too. GBM put in the elbow grease and fought for the region every time it was in danger. She stuck with it in all the years since, and still contributes. That extra commitment is rewarded in these results, and Fleminogiva’s showing is a respectable one.

GBM improves to 2-0, Flemingovia falls to 0-2.

HMS Unicorn (r3naissancer) VS Zemnaya Svoboda (Eluvatar)
Two giants of TNP history, influence still felt to this day. Who has amassed enough over the years to win the hearts and minds of the people today?

Result: HMS Unicorn (r3naissancer) 14-10 (58.3%)

Well, I think this one was appropriately close. Elu is still around today, though his activity is about as spotty as r3n’s was at the end. In terms of a legacy left behind, r3n has that in spades, even if most of it is now a memory. This is still probably the right result, though mostly due to historical things instead of anything ongoing.

r3n improves to 2-0, Elu falls to 1-1.

Kaschovia VS MadJack
Modern giants in TNP, and still making waves in the game. They never faced off at the ballot box, so now they must battle here.

Result: Kaschovia 14-11 (56%)

Kasch is still very plugged into the region’s government if not always its activity, and had two of the most solid terms in a long time. MadJack taking a step back is all that is needed for Kasch to have the clear edge here, though it was appropriately close.

Kasch improves to 2-1, MadJack falls to 2-1.

Here is our last part, then we move onto our Round of 32 bracket

Vote Here: https://forms.gle/ZzHHNJ2mHhN4VH6g8 and collect data below!

Wilkshire VS The Twoslit Experiment
In a time of frequent turnover, these two passed the delegacy a few times, and were familiar faces at a time when the community was coalescing. They leave behind very different legacies, one of which will ensure their victory today.

Lewis and Clark (Westwind) VS Great Bight (Mammothistan)
Rogues with a flair for style and drama, and creating personas and rogue governments that had an identity. They both had the pleasure of going toe to toe with GBM, bringing out the best in her and the community, but also creating stories that evoke a fond battle less than horror and angst. Regardless of the length of their respective coups, they were memorable, but one’s memory will mean more in this match.

Pasargad VS Sundred (Artemis/Orcale)
Guardians of the delegacy until their delegate could take the seat, considered a long transition, though Pasargad’s was almost twice as long. Despite that, Artemis had a bigger profile, though may have made the delegate’s life more difficult by endotarting too well. With their similarities, only their legacy and reputation remain to distinguish them, whose survived to the here and now?

Sydia VS The Tresville Element (Tresville)
They served around Flemingovia, and in an interesting transitory time. Both knew the world before Pixiedance and after it, both overcame a lot to get where they did, and they shared a skepticism of the ADN their forebears may have found strange. But when push comes to shove, which of them can get the better of the other?

Kranostav (Tlomz) VS Plembobria
TNP history is full of those who rose to the top and then blended into the background of the regional community. When they were in the spotlight, they made their time count. These delegates are too infrequently seen now, but generated quite the buzz at the time. Which one buzzes louder through time?

Former English Colony (Eras) VS Zemnaya Svoboda (Eluvatar)
Two more titans of the region who have never won the title. They did not overlap much but they have served together on the admin team for years. Matching wits against each other, who has the edge?

Hulldom VS The Democratic Republic of Tomb (Tomb)
Never encountered each other in TNP, crossed paths in a very different region, where they developed checkered reputations. The journey some players take in this game ends in misfortune and the promising start is not always realized with a happy ending. But the journey contains many bright spots and triumphs, and most every delegate on this list had something special that got them to that point. Good or bad, which one’s accomplishments and work stood out more?

Gorundu VS Francois Isidore (Robespierre)
On the list of people who had recalls attempted against them, on the list of officials who resigned, two delegates who suffered the summer slump, and on the list of former delegates people like to take shots at to this day. One of them is surely more beloved though!

Chodean Kal (Dalimbar) VS Blue Wolf II (Evil Wolf)
They come from very different worlds, but the same time period, and they’re still kicking. They have done many things, good and villainous alike, and have gathered a host of admirers and detractors. Putting their experience and their skills to the test against each other, how would they fare?

Plembobria VS Chipoli
They arrived, they served, they left, though they took on many other roles along the way. Symbols of the new blood rising in their respective periods in the region, they oversaw big things even if their gameplay footprint isn’t the largest. Young leaders who had more time to kill after they had their turn, which one will add one more victory to his collection?

Prydania VS Flemingovia
Sources of wisdom, a ton of fun, and a responsible adult in the room more often than not. Icons of their respective areas, and mainstays in regional life. Only one shall remain giant after stepping into the arena.

Great Bights Mum VS HMS Unicorn (r3naissancer)
Followers of this competition are often surprised neither of these two have managed a win yet, though they usually come close. They are titans among the delegates in history, but in this space, only one can be remembered above the other.

MadJack VS El Fiji Grande (Fiji)
Due to treables, they never got to face each other in an election. So how about the next best thing?

Picairn VS Kaschovia
Modern delegates who continue to play a major role in regional events today, they’ve both done battle with Chipoli but have never faced each other. It’s time to change that.

Round 3 is finished, and the results will follow below. Now that the qualifying rounds are up, the selection committee will finalize the Round of 32 bracket, just in time to celebrate Delegate's Day! Look out for that announcement sometime tomorrow.

Result: Magicality 12-11 (52.2%)

This is Magicality’s closest fight, but perhaps the right one. They were the symbolic heads of the region on each end of the coup, but Magicality will always be the tragic what if while Thel had to actually run the region post-coup and make decisions that would impact the region’s foreign affairs and possible future conflicts. In terms of being legends in the region, Magicality probably has that extra layer of mythology that gives her the edge.

Magicality finishes at 4-0, Thel finishes 1-2.

Wilkshire VS The Twoslit Experiment
In a time of frequent turnover, these two passed the delegacy a few times, and were familiar faces at a time when the community was coalescing. They leave behind very different legacies, one of which will ensure their victory today.

Result: Wilkshire 16-7 (69.6%)

Twoslit did something significant, but Wilkshire helped to realize it. One remained in good standing and always there, an early symbol of TNP past. This is what mattered in the end.

Wilkshire finishes 2-2, Twoslit finishes 2-1.

With their similarities, only their legacy and reputation remain to distinguish them; whose survived to the here and now?

Result: Pasargad 12-11 (52.2%)

Another close result for Pasargad, but probably the right outcome. The vice delegate holding the seat who did not prolong the transition.

Pasargad finishes 2-1, Artemis finishes 1-2.

Emperor Matthuis VS UPS Rail (Sir Paul)
As agents of hostile forces, they could not claim empires of their own, but they had style and put on a convincing face - at first. Which rogue was more compelling?

Result: UPS Rail (Sir Paul) 15-8 (65.2%)

This went the way it should have. UPS Rail was not just a sidekick to Great Bight, but a necessary stage-setter and, as previously mentioned, one who knew how to pretend to be above board at least for a while. Matthuis may have been doing that the first time he “accidentally” took the delegacy, but if so, he did not do anything with the opportunity, and certainly didn’t bother with pretense the second time around. Matthuis did not have what it took to be a transparent day one rogue, and would have been wise to opt for something more like UPS Rail’s approach.

UPS Rail finishes 2-1, Matthuis finishes 0-3 and guarantees he will go no further in this competition.

Shoeless Joe VS New Kervoskia
Joe couped NK, and he never took the delegacy again after that. In a fair fight where he sees him coming, can he get the best of him this time?

Result: Shoeless Joe 13-10 (56.5%)

You may be right. In a fair fight, even with the benefit of foresight, I don’t know that NK stops Shoeless Joe. He did not demonstrate a knack for endotarting or much of a concern about it, given Ermarian had to hold the seat until JAL eventually cooped again. There is something about Shoeless Joe’s code as well, a kind of approach to the coup thing that most other rogues did not employ. It strikes me as making him ultimately a more interesting figure than NK.

Shoeless Joe finishes at 2-1, New Kervoskia finishes at 0-3, rendering him out of contention for the Round of 32.

Result: The Tresville Element (Tresville) 17-6 (73.9%)

Tresville had more visibility, not only just because of having part of the forum named after him. There’s not much more to say here, the result was pretty decisive.

Tresville finishes 2-1, Sydia finishes 0-3, not enough to get a spot in the Round of 32.

Result: Blackshear 15-8 (65.2%)

Blackshear was always more well-liked than Grosse, and always had a potential greatness that contemporaries waxed about years later. The track record, as it so often does, does not show that potential being lived out, but the fact remains that for all the work he put in, and the many legitimate accomplishments he had to his name as an admin, as a perennial minister and Speaker and Justice, Grosse never won the accolades that come with them. The encounters, the fights, the negative reputation, never left him. This is the expected result.

Blackshear finishes 3-0, Grosse finishes 1-2.

Result: Stars of Sky (Pope Hope) 13-10 (56.5%)

You seemed to feel Stars of Sky had more juice than Great Bight, whether in general or in the hypothetical where Stars faces off against Great Bight instead of Better Times. I do believe Stars would be well-suited for the banter that was prevalent in opposing Great Bight, and just as capable of participating in Puppetmaster and taking the lead. The long wait for the constitution to kick in would have also been handled well with Stars at the helm. But perhaps events would have played out more or less the same, and therefore Stars of Sky is not necessarily some clear superior opponent, and therefore this closer result is a reasonable one.

Stars of Sky finishes 3-0, Great Bight falls to 2-1.

Pixiedance VS Durkadurkiranistan (JAL)
Infamous menaces, scourges of the RMB, and enough of an impact to remain a boogeyman long after their reign of terror ended. Pitted against each other, which would effectively subjugate the other?

Result: Durkadurkiranistan (JAL) 12-11 (52.2%)

I am surprised this was close, and surprised at the outcome. Perhaps what mattered more was wanting the fun coup over the nightmare coup. In terms of effectiveness and of being the top villain, it’s Pixiedance all the way. In terms of symbolism, in narrative, the story, the style, all of it, Pixiedance has it, while JAL is all purges and bluster. As a prolific villain of the world, JAL stands above any TNP rogue who only did a coup there, though Pixiedance, having been puppeted for much of its life by Ivan Moldavi, is one who could claim to have other comparative and significant coups. I guess if you bring all of these factors together, it can make sense that this ends up as close it got.

JAL ends at 2-2, Pixiedance finishes 1-3, and jeopardizes their shot at securing a spot in the Round of 32.

Result: Lewis and Clark (Westwind) 15-8 (65.2%)

At the end of the day, iconic though he was, Great Bight did not last as long as the rogues that followed him, and he didn’t threaten the future of the region the way the Crimson Order did. And Westwind was not the reviled villain Pixiedance was, so he manages to do well in the fun category a well. This was the proper result.

Westwind finishes strong at 3-1, Great Bight finishes 2-2.

Result: Plembobria 14-9 (60.9%)

As I said before, two terms is more than one. Plemby had the benefit of running the region at one of its high points, right at the changing of the guard. He had more manpower and more numbers, in government, in the citizenry, active roleplayers present in the Discord. TNP was still in a strong place. There is a little bit of a glory days motif to that time, which Tlomz does not benefit from. They were both competent, but Plemby has more to his time. Tlomz worked diligently behind the scenes, in the WA ministry and then in FA. I suppose this is the result, but I wouldn’t necessarily call it an unfair one.

Plembobria improves to 3-0, Tlomz falls to 2-1.

Kranostav (Tlomz) VS Gorundu
A lot happened and not all of it was good. After their time they seemed to fade, though they stuck around. What good was there is often overlooked, and they tend to be forgotten. One will be remembered after this fight.

Result: Kranostav (Tlomz) 13-10 (56.5%)

Tlomz is remembered more fondly, but they both had rough terms and Gorundu had some significant achievements and events before it all went wrong. I’m not surprised for the difference to be this slight, the pros and cons largely cancel each other out.

Tlomz finishes at 3-1, Gorundu falls to 1-2.

Gorundu VS Francois Isidore (Robespierre)
On the list of people who had recalls attempted against them, on the list of officials who resigned, two delegates who suffered the summer slump, and on the list of former delegates people like to take shots at to this day. One of them is surely more beloved though!

Result: Gorundu 17-6 (73.9%)

Gorundu disappointed in different ways than Robes did, and had much higher heights whereas Robes largely had a narrow and momentous electoral victory and not much else. When you look solely at the positive or objective wins, there’s no contest. When you consider the general sentiment toward them, there’s also no contest. This result makes sense.

Gorundu finishes 2-2, Robes falls to 1-2.

Francois Isidore (Robespierre) VS Gladio II
NPA generals whose political prowess is not nearly as clear. Which out guns the other?

Result: Gladio II 12-11 (52.2%)

Gladio is a legend in the NPA and among R/D players. Robes did well in modern times, but not nearly as well as Gladio in his glory days. The close result does strike me as fair. Setting aside the BoM factor, Gladio did not leave much of an impression in the role. They had a single term in office and proved to be rather forgettable in the long run. Gladio is either looked at less favorably or not at all, whereas Robes is generally seen negatively. I think this split is fair, as is Gladio having the edge.

Gladio finishes 2-1, Robes finishes 1-3.

Result: Chipoli 12-11 (52.2%)

Chipoli is a much newer delegate, serving two terms as Plemby did. The activity of their respective terms was quite different, as was the environment. Plemby used what he had well, and Chipoli did his best, but the results are not equivalent. The successes in FA were where they differed the most, and perhaps that’s what gives Chipoli the edge, along with his warmer reception even today and fresher popularity, though Plemby is still around and still delightful.

Chipoli improves to 3-0, Plembobria finishes at 3-1.

Result: Jamie Anumia (Chimes/Cove) 13-10 (56.5%)

Jamie had more time to work with, and a crucial period where the region was expanding and building itself up. It’s sometimes hard to gauge how to place value on it though, and Jamie is largely unknown these days. Simone certainly isn’t though, and undoubtedly lingering negative response played a role in these results. The paper trail is probably better in Jamie’s case, which does justify this result in my view.

Jamie finishes 1-2, Simone finishes 1-2.

Result: The Democratic Republic of Tomb (Tomb) 16-7 (69.6%)

These two were rivals in another region, and their legacy is probably identical there as well. As much as Tomb gets on people’s nerves, as horrible as the things he did were, they weren’t what Hulldom did. His sins are likely not fresh enough to be relevant anyway, he is safely dead and buried. His stock won’t fall further, he has no players alive today to dig more dirt on his name. That definitely helps.

Tomb finishes 1-2, Hulldom further declines to 0-3.

Result: Blue Wolf II (Evil Wolf) 18-5 (78.3%)

Wolf finally ran into someone more unpopular than himself. To be fair, Wolf never betrayed this region. And he actually completed his term in office. Wolf never did a 180 on a policy position, but always knew exactly what his positions were. And he chose a side. There is something admirable in that.

Wolf improves to 2-1, Hulldom finishes 0-4.

Result: Chodean Kal (Dalimbar) 17-6 (73.9%)

Three terms is more than one. On the other hand, Wolf only plotted a coup while Dali actually did it. But he redeemed himself with that third term. Wolf brought back the NPA, but he also remained a significant member of Lone Wolves United and was involved in the coup of Lazarus. I will chalk this up to weighing the overall record and general standing of the player today over whatever they were better known for in the past.

Dali finishes 4-0, Wolf finishes 2-2.

Prydania VS El Fiji Grande (Fiji)
One term to prove they had what it takes, but their true influence has probably been felt in their supporting work in the years since they held the highest office. Who could more easily command the confidence and the loyalty of the region today?

Result: El Fiji Grande (Fiji) 14-9 (60.9%)

Prydania has certainly performed better in this competition, but this is not that unreasonable a result. Two one-term delegates whose footprint at the time was rather muted, both of these delegates have remained significant as supporting players and leaders in their more limited areas. Fiji’s position is slightly more visible by virtue of choosing gameplay over roleplay, perhaps, and Fiji has left a mark by choosing his areas of interest in ways that briefly cause him to show up on the layperson’s radar. I think that might be where he gets the edge.

Fiji improves to 2-1, Prydania falls to 1-2.

Prydania VS Flemingovia
Sources of wisdom, a ton of fun, and a responsible adult in the room more often than not. Icons of their respective areas, and mainstays in regional life. Only one shall remain giant after stepping into the arena.

Result: Flemingovia 16-7 (69.6%)

Finally a win for Flemingovia! There’s still a lot of cultural cachet left in this giant TNPer, showing that the new people can’t so easily dominate as they might have expected. I feel the weight of history and name recognition wins out here. Pry is likely more competitive with newer players, but against contemporaries and ancients, he shows a bit of a soft underbelly. There is no shame in this, of course, but he has performed rather well for a one-term delegate who has mostly stayed insular and best known to his subcommunity.

Flemingovia improves to 1-2, Prydania finishes 1-3.

Flemingovia VS HMS Unicorn (r3naissancer)
Two of the all-time greats, duking it out for your amusement. Father of the region, father of the machine. Champions of the people, icons of the region whose influence continues to be felt. Which reigns supreme?

Result: Flemingovia 13-10 (56.5%)

Flemingovia scores another win! Looks like the god has some divine power left to expend. I see this as another symbolic win, which is to say, a symbol of the region mattered more than one of the most significant actors to bring his work to the region. It was still close, but in a cultural sense, it seems Flemingovia’s strength there gave him the edge over the more concrete things. This is also not to diminish his early work as a champion and warrior in coups, but it’s easy to see Flemingovia as another Eras-like figure in this regard.

Flemingovia finishes 2-2, r3n falls to 2-1.

Former English Colony (Eras) VS Zemnaya Svoboda (Eluvatar)
Two more titans of the region who have never won the title. They did not overlap much but they have served together on the admin team for years. Matching wits against each other, who has the edge?

Result: Zemnaya Svoboda (Eluvatar) 14-9 (60.9%)

I don’t think it’s controversial for Elu to come out ahead here. He went on to be a significant figure in the region both then and now, whereas Eras did her best work in those early years.

Elu improves to 2-1, Eras finishes at 1-3.

Zemnaya Svoboda (Eluvatar) VS Great Bights Mum
In contrast to our previous two delegates, these ones still walk the earth! Their influence likewise stretches far and they have served numerous times, but which one outdoes the other? You decide!

Result: Great Bights Mum 18-5 (78.3%)

Well, GBM did her best work early on too, but that best work is much more impressive in comparison to Elu, with all due respect. Her presence has never really faded, and she is still here. Symbolic, meaningful, and significant. I am not surprised by these results at all.

GBM improves to 3-0, Elu finishes 2-2.

Great Bights Mum VS HMS Unicorn (r3naissancer)
Followers of this competition are often surprised neither of these two have managed a win yet, though they usually come close. They are titans among the delegates in history, but in this space, only one can be remembered above the other.

Result: Great Bights Mum 12-11 (52.2%)

This was their closest match, and well-deserved. These are two of the most significant players in the region’s history, and GBM’s constant presence, indispensable presence in the early days, and consistent contributions I believe warrant this clear split favoring her. The technology r3n brought, the massive changes, made TNP what it is, but they have rusted with time, which moves ever forward. This is not to diminish his significance - few delegates were as significant. But the story as a whole has always had GBM in it, and it feels like it always will.

Great Bights Mum improves to 4-0, r3n falls to 2-2.

Picairn VS Chipoli
Over time these two have become somewhat rivals, having faced off for the delegacy in two back to back contests, and rotating on the shortlist for minister roles in other governments. Chipotle has always won these exchanges at the ballot box, but what about here?

Result: Chipoli 15-8 (65.2%)

Chipoli still wins out over Picairn, even here. He’s long since proven his popularity, and is still well-regarded. Sometimes that’s all you need. There is a reason Picairn keeps being compared to all these significant players, however. He is still very much a significant player, more so today than a year ago, and most other players with the kind of record he is showing would have been walloped by the superior opponent, whereas he commands a solid minority in each race. I think I would have expected Picairn to do slightly better in this one, but we did see how well Chipoli performed in this event last year, so maybe I shouldn’t have been.

Chipoli finishes at 4-0, Picairn declines to 0-3.

MadJack VS El Fiji Grande (Fiji)
Due to treables, they never got to face each other in an election. So how about the next best thing?

Result: MadJack 14-9 (60.9%)

In terms of popularity, modern relevance, and actual track record in office, this is the right outcome. Not really that surprising, and likely how this would have gone had they actually faced off in an election.

MadJack finishes 3-1, Fiji finishes 2-2.

Picairn VS Kaschovia
Modern delegates who continue to play a major role in regional events today, they’ve both done battle with Chipoli but have never faced each other. It’s time to change that.

Result: Kaschovia 15-8 (65.2%)

I want to stress again that Picairn facing off this intense schedule is earned by great performance both previously and as a regional politician and player. It is when we run these fights that we see the extent of their individual strength and blend of popularity and record. Kasch was obviously popular going in, he had more time in the office, he had shinier, more significant things to highlight. In modern times these two are both workhorses, but one of them has more to show for that work these days. This is a cumulative thing, a marathon, not a sprint. This seems fair.

Kasch finishes 3-1, Picairn finishes 0-4. Strength of schedule is a big factor, and these losses are not the same as any old set of losses. Picairn is very much still in contention for the Round of 32.

The Round of 32 is over, and we had some very close fought contests. Our competitors have been cut in half, and the winners in each quadrant are ready to face off again to see who will ultimately vie for their quadrant's representation in the semi-finals. Your results are below!

Quadrant 1
Great Bights Mum (#1) VS Jamie Anumia (Chimes/Cove) (#32)

Result: Great Bights Mum 25-4 (86.2%)

It would be quite the upset for the 32nd seed to beat our first seed, so this outcome is hardly surprising. GBM, taking the first rank this year and improving from #8 last year, is a living legend with quite the track record, Jamie occupied the office in a time when the region hadn’t yet become truly great and was still evolving a year into its new constitution. Jamie performed better in this year’s competition and made it to the bracket, but he only just made the cut, so while that gave him the chance to take on one of the region’s heavyweights, it was a short trip. Good effort, and good job with the delegate back in the day Jamie, but this is the end of the road this year.

Picairn (#17) VS Kranostav (Tlomz) (#16)

Result: Picairn 15-14 (51.7%)

The middle of these brackets are where the competitors are considered more evenly matched, and these results certainly bore this out. I believe that Picairn was probably slightly favored in this matchup, however, so ultimately the result is not a surprising one, though I would have probably expected a stronger win. Still, this is further in the competition than Picairn has gone before, despite a lower rank compared to last year (#14), though he now advances to face GBM. He will have his work cut out for him, considering she has won every match she has been in thus far. As for Tlomz, this is where he ended his run last year as well, but at least he placed higher in the initial rankings (from #20 last year).

Plembobria (#9) VS Pixiedance (#24)

Result: Plembobria 18-11 (62.1%)

I tend to expect the rogues to fall by this point in the competition, and Plemby did not disappoint here. Plemby also did better in the bracket this year (last year: #12) while Pixiedance is in the exact same spot they were last year. Pixiedance put up much more of a fight this year, but just as he vanquished Westwind a year ago, Plemby took down another rogue. There is another giant he needs to face now, Flemingovia!

Simone Republic (#25) VS Flemingovia (#8)

Result: Flemingovia 25-4 (86.2%)

Being paired with Flemingovia was always going to be rough, but even so, this was one of the most commanding victories of the entire round. Simone improved slightly from last year (#28), as did Flemingovia (#10), but I would say their performance was about as consistent as it was last time. If things go as the rankings predict, Flemingovia is on a collision course with GBM in a few rounds, a matchup that we have already seen in this competition, and that GBM took the first time.

Quadrant 4
Zemnaya Svoboda (Eluvatar) (#5) VS The Twoslit Experiment (Twoslit) (#28)

Result: Zemnaya Svoboda (Eluvatar) 21-8 (72.4%)

This one is hardly a surprising result either. Elu slipped a notch from last year (#4) while Twoslit rose a few (#31), but a fight against one of the top 5 was always going to be a daunting one. Funny enough, Elu's score is identical to the one last year.

Gladio II (#21) VS Gorundu (#12)

Result: Gorundu 15-14 (51.7%)

Gladio has had somewhat of a Cinderella run this year, not as good as one as Dali's, but probably a close second, when you compare how he fared last year (#27) when he only garnered 3 votes. This year, he missed advancement by only 2 votes. Gladio initially had a strong performance the first time he entered this competition, back when his delegacy was fresher and he was still a beloved NPA icon. If his name carries more weight this year, though, it is likely a result of his negative affiliation, not his old heroic history. Gorundu, funny enough, faced Dali last year and won comfortably, but due to his slightly improved rank from before (#15), he will now be slated to fight Elu. Good luck!

Former English Colony (Erastide) (#13) VS Wilkshire (#20)

Result: Former English Colony (Erastide) 24-5 (82.8%)

Not only is this a rematch from earlier in the qualifiers, but a rematch of the Round of 32, when Eras was #11 and Wilkshire #22. Their match was closer then, but the margin expanded for this latest contest. This is simply not a matchup that Wilkshire seems to be able to win.

UPS Rail (Sir Paul) (#29) VS MadJack (#4)

Result: MadJack 19-10 (65.5%)

MadJack improved slightly (#5) from last year but faced an opponent new to the Round of 32, the rogue UPS Rail. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this one is how relatively narrow the margin was compared to what might have been expected, especially considering MadJack's considerable margin in his debut fight last year. Overall the rogues have seen somewhat of a rosier assessment this time around, though ultimately another one is wiped out here. MadJack will have to face Eras in the next round, though compared to some of the other giants from the past, he may have more of a fighting chance. That fight will determine if he ends up having to take on Elu, the favored victor in his next fight.

Quadrant 3
HMS Unicorn (r3naissancer) (#3) VS Durkadurkiranistan (JAL) (#30)

Result: HMS Unicorn (r3naissancer) 19-10 (65.5%)

In a result reminiscent of the Madjack fight, r3n pulls off a slightly less dominating win against JAL than might have been expected. While he retains his rank from last year, JAL makes his Round of 32 debut, having failed to secure a spot last year. It's fair to say he earned it though, always maintaining a decent portion of the vote even in the matches he did not win. In the Round of 16, r3n will have the opportunity to slay a second rogue, the only one to survive this first round.

Stars of Sky (#19) VS Lewis and Clark (Westwind) (#14)

Result: Lewis and Clark (Westwind) 20-9 (69%)

Stars of Sky defeated every rogue that she was put up against, except this one, and it was not even a close contest. After such a strong performance, one that got her into the Round of 32 for the first time, it is slightly surprising to see such a fall. But Westwind improved quite a bit compared to last year (#21), and it seems that strong run has not let up yet. It's safe to say r3n will be his toughest challenge yet, however, and even if he manages to make it past the Round of 16, he would be facing either Blackshear or Dali, the only one to best him in this competition so far this year.

Blackshear (#11) VS Blue Wolf II (Evil Wolf) (#22)

Result: Blackshear 15-14 (51.7%)

The last super close contest we had this round, and perhaps also a surprising outcome. Blackshear has done very well this year, earning a strong placement in the Round of 32 compared to a year ago (#16), and he has made it to the next round, further than he's gone before. Wolf is ranked virtually the same as before (#23) but clearly benefited from not having to face Flemingovia or another of his caliber. Blackshear's biggest obstacle moving forward is facing off against delegates who largely were not his contemporary, though he is fortunate enough to have Dali as his next opponent, and they were adjacent delegates once upon a time. This is a brand new, fearsome Dali, however.

Tresville (#27) VS Chodean Kal (Dalimbar) (#6)

Result: Chodean Kal (Dalimbar) 22-7 (75.9%)

Dali has the undisputed Cinderella run in this year's competition, and it is still going. Tresville may not have been the strongest opponent, having failed to even place last year, but Dali has soared from his prior rank (#18) to being among the top 10, and the dominant wins he has demonstrated have earned him that distinction. He is well-positioned to fight well against Blackshear, and securing that victory, will be favored to end up facing off with r3n. We're particularly interested to see how he does in the rounds ahead.

Quadrant 2
Kaschovia (#7) VS Tomb (#26)

Result: Kaschovia 26-3 (89.7%)

Both competitors improved from last year (#9, #29), and their performance closely mirrored that of their previous competition fights, with Kasch once again securing nearly all of the votes and Tomb stuck in the single digits, although those outcomes were even more exaggerated compared to their previous fights. Kasch is poised for a rematch against Fiji, which had proven to be a fairly close match, so it should be interesting to see if he can follow that up with a rematch against Chipoli, a match that had gone to a tiebreaker last time.

Great Bight (Mammothistan) (#23) VS El Fiji Grande (#10)

Result: El Fiji Grande 19-10 (65.5%)

Great Bight had a slight improvement over last year's rank (#25), while Fiji has been bringing it this year and earned a bigger bump from before (#17). Fiji won comfortably, though given the vast difference in time and popularity, perhaps by not as ridiculous a margin as might have been expected.

Magicality (#15) VS Prydania (#18)

Result: Prydania 16-13 (55.2%)

Magicality is a huge symbol in the region, and did incredibly well this year, jumping from the bottom of the pack last year (#30) to a contender in the middle. Prydania marginally improved (#19) but won by more than a single vote this time around. Perhaps it is a bit surprising it was this close, given how much more substantial a delegate Prydania is on paper and how big his footprint still is. Bu the real test comes in the Round of 16, when he faces off against last year's runner-up, and one of the few undefeated competitors this year, Chipoli.

Hulldom (#31) VS Chipoli (#2)

Result: Chipoli 25-4 (86.2%)

This outcome was expected, perhaps even the extent of the win. Hulldom's performance led him to drop from before (#26) but he had enough going for him that he managed to maintain a spot on the bracket. Chipoli's improvement was evident from the end of the last competition (#13) as he took out significant names to make it to the very end. Of course, astute observers will note that he was the delegate immediately preceding the incumbent, and in the intervening year no additional delegates have come along to push him further back in memory. This obviously plays a role in his success, but most of his fights this year have been far from blowout affairs. Prydania will be an interesting opponent for him to face, and if he advances to the quarter-finals, he could be looking at another fairly even fight in either Fiji or Kasch.

The quarterfinals loom before us as the Round of 16 finishes. These were clear victories for the most part, though the contests were still hard-fought. There are many giants among these names, and their opponents did an admirable job fighting back even if the outcome basically turned out the way it could have been expected. Your results are below.

Quadrant 1
Great Bights Mum (#1) VS Picairn (#17)

Result: Great Bights Mum 18-12 (60%)

I want to give props to Picairn, who has had probably the toughest schedule of any competitor in this competition and made it to this round, a personal best in only the first two of these he was eligible for. GBM is no joke, and he pulled double digit numbers against her. Of her peers who were similarly favored and considered of the same tier, her victory is the narrowest. I think the results prove that he is up there with the near greats, despite having a historically short time in the office himself, given enough time and service in TNP. But the journey we take to get there differs for each one of us. GBM will now go on to have a rematch with Flemingovia, and get further in the bracket than she did last year. Given the earlier match in the qualifiers, we should expect her to do well.

Plembobria (#9) VS Flemingovia (#8)

Result: Flemingovia 19-11 (63.3%)

Plemby did well against the god of TNP, but that's an icon there, even after he has vanished. It's hard to overcome that for most delegates who were not already on his level. Like Picairn, this is a very impressive number to run against Flemingovia, especially given how little name recognition Plemby has these days. There's still a lot of juice left in the tank if he ever wants to tap into it again, I think. Perhaps Flemingovia's second wind at the end of the qualifiers will extend to this quarterfinals rematch, and he'll shock the world by unseating the #1 seed.

Quadrant 3
Zemnaya Svoboda (Eluvatar) (#5) VS Gorundu (#12)

Result: Zemnaya Svoboda (Eluvatar) 21-9 (70%)

Like Plemby, Gorundu falls in the Round of 16 for the second year in a row, mustering a better showing than his blowout loss last year. I sense something of a healing here, as Gorundu's stock improves compared to recent years. Not every controversial or unpopular former delegate can say the same. Let's see if that trend continues in the months and years ahead. In the meantime, regional stalwart and global treasure Elu advances to the quarterfinals, where he will, like GBM, go further than he had a year ago, and take on one of the modern heavyweights in MadJack.

Former English Colony (Erastide) (#13) VS MadJack (#4)

Result: MadJack 19-11 (63.3%)

This proved not to be a great year for Eras, who joined the ranks of those who fell in the Round of 16 two years in a row. Given her general lack of face time in the region these days and how long it's been since she had the role, this is a decent showing against one of the better-known modern delegates. But the odds-makers can pat themselves on the back for calling this one right as well. MadJack and Elu could be an interesting fight, as they are ranked virtually the same, but MadJack is perceived to have a slight edge.

Quadrant 4
HMS Unicorn (r3naissancer) (#3) VS Lewis and Clark (Westwind) (#14)

Result: HMS Unicorn (r3naissancer) 22-8 (73.3%)

The penguin is flexing a little, mustering the strongest win of the round. Congrats to Westwind for being the rogue who stood above all others, but rogues don't win in the end. Then again, maybe we need to reconsider that...

Blackshear (#11) VS Chodean Kal (Dalimbar) (#6)

Result: Chodean Kal (Dalimbar) 21-9 (70%)

...because Dali continues his impressive undefeated streak and advances to the quarterfinals. This isn't just further than he got last year, as he was already further than before, it is undoubtedly further than he's ever advanced in any of these events. Blackshear was a contemporary who isn't exactly a household name, but the same can be said about Dali to many of our modern players. There is some kind of magic kicking in right now, and one has to wonder if it's enough to ride to the finals. Dare we say, King Dali? But first he has to take on one of the titans, r3n. That is a tall order given how dominant he has been in this final stage of the tournament. We shall see how deep he cuts into the penguin's numbers, or if he even manages an upset. Wouldn't be the first of those we've seen this year...

Quadrant 2
Kaschovia (#7) VS El Fiji Grande (#10)

Result: Kaschovia 18-12 (60%)

This rematch was not as close as the previous fight, but the outcome was the same. Kasch has performed as expected, but Fiji never stopped putting up a good fight, ending his run in the same place he did a year ago. We were curious if one of the closest fights in this year's competition would be revisited in the quarterfinals, and there was certainly every reason to expect that would be the case, but it is Prydania who will be facing Kasch next.

Prydania (#18) VS Chipoli (#2)

Result: Prydania 17-13 (56.7%)

This is the upset of the round, and first quadrant leader to fall. Chipoli had a seemingly flawless run up to this point, but to fall to Prydania here is certainly not what msot people expected. This was the closest match of the round, and for good reason. Prydania came close to pulling off an upset against r3n at this stage of the competition in 2025, so perhaps we should have paid more attention to that and less attention to the 1-3 he came into this bracket with. Kasch is no slouch, but given how close his match with Chipoli is, one has to wonder if Pry is picking up steam and precisely the right time. Should he make it to the semi-finals, either of his potential opponents would be a fascinating match. Congrats to TNP's finest deer, and condolences to Chipoli, who learns just how hard it can be to win one of these things without the nostalgia bump of being the immediately previous delegate (even though technically, he still is - Ruben has been around a long time).

The quarter-finals are done and wow, you guys made quite the statement this year. You have set up two very interesting showdowns in the semi-finals, after half the matches were tied or virtually tied for most of the round. Let's get down to it!

Quadrant 1
Great Bights Mum (#1) VS Flemingovia (#8)

Result: Great Bights Mum 26-8 (76.5%)

Perhaps this was indeed the expected result, but I am not sure anyone thought it would be quite this clear a victory. Their previous match in this competition was much closer. Once more, a major icon of TNP falls, to another more beloved one. GBM might go all the way this year, as she is blazing a trail that runs much further than her previous performance. That road goes straight through MadJack, and could lead to a rematch with Kasch, the one who beat her last year in the Round of 16. Or it could lead to a showdown with Dali, who is proving to be a formidable opponent this year. Either way, these last two fights should prove to be hard-fought and well-earned, and I for one am glad to see GBM excel. The same, though, could honestly be said for all of tonight's winners.

Quadrant 3
Zemnaya Svoboda (Eluvatar) (#5) VS MadJack (#4)

Result: MadJack 18-16 (52.9%)

Elu is another TNP titan, but to be fair, MadJack was ranked a notch above, so this may be a bit of an upset, but not outside the realm of expected possibilities. MadJack now advances further than he reached before, while Elu ends also further than last year's result. The match was appropriately close given their relative popularity, notoriety, and breadth of accomplishments. Elu lost to the same person MadJack did last year (Chipoli), so it would be interesting to see how MadJack stacks up against Kasch a second time, given how close their previous fight was, should Kasch emerge victorious in his next fight, and MadJack manages to defeat another TNP juggernaut.

Quadrant 4
HMS Unicorn (r3naissancer) (#3) VS Chodean Kal (Dalimbar) (#6)

Result: Chodean Kal (Dalimbar) 18-16 (52.9%)

Dali's done it again! It is no small thing to defeat r3n, who always has deep runs in these competitions. But Dali has simply never gotten anywhere close this far before, and it continues to be impressive that this old dog has enough new tricks to keep going, even against a giant like r3n. It could be many things, but with time, we simply see who sticks around and who is memorable as the generations change. In the past r3n struggled against newer major players, notably coming close to losing to Prydania last year, and of course being demolished by Siwale. Perhaps r3n is becoming too unknown a figure to modern TNPers, perhaps his evaluation is harsher than it used to be. Perhaps people like novelty and the unexpected, and maybe there's a rare instance of popular momentum beyond an academic exercise in who was the better delegate on paper. Whatever the reason, it's working for Dali, and he will go on to face a modern titan in Kasch. Could we even see a face-off between couper and the delegate who helped take the region back from him all those years ago? We shall see.

Quadrant 2
Kaschovia (#7) VS Prydania (#18)

Result: Kaschovia 22-12 (64.7%)

While Dali's Cinderella moment continues, Prydania's has finally come to an end. Given how strongly he did against Chipoli previously, it is a bit surprising this one was so clear a result in the opposite direction. This is still a solid showing given the discrepancy in rankings, and Prydania has proven he remains relevant even now. Kasch will face Dali in the semi-finals, and we will see if being a fresher iconic player is the secret ingredient that finally stops Dali's running the table.

The semi-finals are done, and after a series of upsets and surprises, it seems you're ready for things to go back to normal. Two remain. On to the finals!

Great Bights Mum (#1) VS MadJack (#4)

Result: Great Bights Mum 19-15 (55.9%)

Great Bights Mum is our #1 seed for a reason, and she proved it here with what was honestly about as close a battle as we might have predicted given MadJack's performance up to this point. There is just something indelible about the mother of TNP, and it seems it was as much her year as Dali's given how much further she got this time around compared to her past outings. While Kasch has only done this twice, GBM has been in every iteration of this event, sometimes getting far, sometimes not. If one Cinderella story is going to go the distance, perhaps it's appropriate that it's hers. Not that GBM is any slouch, of course, given she is one of the most significant delegates in the region's history. But we have too often seen the new guard take the lead and the crown, and for all we know, we will see it again in the next few days. But maybe this year, it's time for GBM to get her flowers. We shall see.

Good job MadJack on fighting and narrowing the gap as much as you did. This was a new personal best for him as well, and this was GBM's second closest win in the competition. It is appropriate that the Final Four be split evenly between old and new TNP, as this is very much a region that puts a lot of weight on its history and the past, while striving to innovate and stay relevant in a changing world. Each of these fights gave the win to a different generation, but there can only be one winner.

Chodean Kal (Dalimbar) (#6) VS Kaschovia (#7)

Result: Kaschovia 22-12 (64.7%)

The rankings suggested this would be a relatively even fight, and given how well Dali has done in this competition up to this point, one would have expected something close here. One would be wrong, however. This was more or less decided almost from the start as there was never any fresh surge of Dali support. That being said, he put up a respectable showing, not just in this match but during the entire competition, and I think it's fair to say no one would have put money on him being in the Final Four, yet here he was, duking it out with one of the most popular delegates of all time. That Kasch would do well is no surprise, and I think that given name recognition and recency bias, we should have expected this to be a blowout performance with Dali barely scraping single digits. But there's still a lot of fight left in that salty dog. Shame we won't get to see him face off with either of the delegates who fought his coups in different regions, but I suppose there's always next year. And Dali may just be a contender.

Kasch advances with his own personal best, as, like every member of the Final Four, he has outdone his past performance to get as far as he has. It will truly be a generational battle between a face of old TNP and a face of the new one. Good luck, and let's see who takes the crown.

We have reached the end of Delegate Delirium 2026, the votes have been cast and counted, and the winner is...

Great Bights Mum (#1) VS Kaschovia (#7)

Result: Great Bights Mum 17-12 (58.6%)

GBM! Congrats to the new King Queen of TNP! Perhaps the #1 being the winner is anti-climatic, but GBM has been fighting for this title since it first began almost ten years ago (sounds more impressive when you consider this was not a regular annual event). We would expect Kasch, who was slightly less favored, to do slightly less well than MadJack, and well, that is in fact what happened. Still, I think Kasch put up a good fight and also found himself further than he ever got. It was truly a redemptive journey for many of our delegates, and they brought us some much more interesting fights than what we saw last year.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped us keep this thing going. It's nice to see some of these endeavors still get some attention, even if we always hope for more! As always, I hope it was educational and spurred your imaginations. Hopefully we'll get to do it all over again next year.
