Opening Address - June 2026
Friends, colleagues, and fellow TNPers,
Once again I have found myself appointed as Minister at the tail end of a term. Granted, this time it’s longer than five days, so I’ll manage. I want to thank Delegate @Halsoni for giving me an opportunity to serve The North Pacific so soon after my return, and my predecessor @Voopmont for having done a wonderful job running this Ministry.
I’m sure many of you already know who I am and what I do at this point, so let’s skip the introductions and get down to business. The WA reset is scheduled to happen on July 2nd, which means that we have less than two weeks left to prepare for the greatest WA overhaul in years. There is a lot of uncertainty and debate over the impending reset and new features coming with it, like GA compliance/adoption, but thankfully site admins have given us a general outline of what to expect. In a word, alongside QoL upgrades and UI improvement to the WA, every new resolution post-reset will have its own unique statistical effects, potentially going as far as cancelling national policies, much like issues; and all WA nations must adopt at least 80% of the resolutions or face a loss of voting rights. These are huge changes, and will likely have disruptive effects when implemented across the game. We can also expect general pandemonium in the queue as ambitious authors race to fill in the blank legislative state. The purpose of WA Affairs, therefore, is to prepare and help the region adjust to this new world.
At the same time, regular operations in the Ministry of WA Affairs must continue smoothly and efficiently. The timely posting of voting threads and IFVs is highly important, and when the expected deluge of post-reset resolutions arrives, we have to adapt and keep up.
With those things in mind, my priorities for the rest of this term will be:
- Introducing an IFV claims thread: A simple reform that allows pre-planning and tracking IFV progress. Instead of calling for IFV writers when a proposal goes to vote, the Ministry will now open a thread wherein staffers can claim an IFV for themselves and write it in advance for proposals in queue that have been pre-voted upon in a forum thread. This will help reduce delays and unavailability by staffers during the critical four-day voting period, and lessen the pressure that comes with emergency IFV production.
- Further developing the Guaranteed Sponsorship program: This is a solid initiative to bolster our WA authorship and mentor our newcomers in the ways of the WA. We have some GA proposal drafts in the works for post-reset submission, which will make a big splash if completed on time. I also hope to heavily advertise this program and reach out to enthusiastic newcomers to get them to join.
- Updating the WADP with Compliance/Adoption: When the reset is implemented, nations will need to actively comply/adopt new resolutions to retain their voting rights. We don’t want TNP WA nations to lose their votes for failing to adopt the required percentage of resolutions, which would decrease our overall voting power. Thus, new dispatches need to be added to the WADP, explaining compliance and how to navigate it to new WA nations. For stat grinders among us who don’t want to be subject to unwanted stat effects, they can still contribute by endorsing the Delegate, Vice Delegate, and the Security Council, which would still be counted for non-compliant nations. This will be a collaborative project with Integration, specifically the Resource Review department. Hopefully, we can get the new instructions published shortly after the update is out.
- More staff engagement: This is so important, because the Ministry can’t run on one or a tiny group of people. The production of IFVs and voting threads, while not very glamorous, requires multiple people to ensure on-time publication and long-term sustainability. And we need fresh authors to bolster our WA presence. I aim to involve more staffers in our regular operations, by contacting them and keeping their interest in WA Affairs alive. Too often, staffers wander off and become inactive because either there isn’t anything to do, they don’t know how to do it, or they lose interest during the long, boring slog of endless tasks. Fostering connections and constant engagement with our staffers will do some good towards keeping them active and involved.
To help me fulfill these objectives, I have assembled a capable and enthusiastic team of Deputies. After some careful deliberation and review, I have decided not to reappoint the old team, but to move forward with a fresh one instead. Thus, I am honoured to appoint @Voopmont and @Inevitable Poverty as Deputy Ministers. Voopmont is our highly experienced and active former WAA Minister, while Inevitable Poverty is an energetic and hard-working staffer; both of whom, I’m confident, will serve the Ministry greatly. Another appointment will follow soon when I have received the candidate’s confirmation.
Now, let us begin.
At your service,
Minister of World Assembly Affairs
