I hereby appoint @Lord Dominator, @Arty and @Ambis to the Election Commission.
@Lord Dominator has been appointed to the Election Commission by the Delegate. Noting that this nomination is subject to confirmation by the Regional Assembly, I hereby open the floor to debate and discussion on this matter. I invite the Delegate to give a statement in support of the nominee.

Should this reach a vote, I put the following motion before the Regional Assembly:
Motion:
The Regional Assembly, acting upon the nomination of the delegate, confirms Lord Dominator to the Election Commission.

I would like to try something different this time. I challenge the nominee to pledge that if he vacates office again, he will never accept a spot on the Electoral Commission again. Perhaps the self-imposed condition will spur him not to do it again.

Note to the speaker: the motion you have in your post is incorrect.

That seems reasonable

Given the pledge given by LD earlier, and his experience in this role is clear to anyone who's been around for a bit, I motion for a vote.

I disagree. People may want to leave their jobs for certain reasons. They may want to take a break. This shouldn't prevent them from returning to their positions.

You may not be aware of this nominee’s history, but he is known for losing office because he didn’t log in often enough, or losing citizenship because his nation ceased to exist. It’s happened more than once, in more than one office, including elected ones.

Vacating office is different from a resignation.
I agree that vacating office and resignation are procedurally different.
However, that distinction alone does not justify treating vacating office as a lasting mark against future service.
That's just my opinion.

I may not be familiar with this nominee’s history. However, I do not think it is appropriate to use this nominee as a basis for making generalizations about other nominees.

Who is doing that? I didn’t pose this to any other nominee, just the one who has made a habit of losing his offices due to not showing up. I’m not even inherently opposed to his returning to the EC. But this has to be acknowledged after so many times it has taken place.

I am not defending or accusing anyone. Please do not misunderstand me. I understood this commitment not to vacate office as something that would be generalized and applied to everyone going forward.

It’s an entirely fair thing to pose to me specifically and the same reason why I am willing to say that I won’t seek EC again should I vacate (or not post an oath) office in the same manner as I have in the past - I do indeed have a history of it that others don’t.

The comment from Pallaith, as far as I understand it, is very specifically directed at Lord Dominator as the nominee. I myself (re)nominated Lord Dominator as EC once in 2024. There's a lot of background to this discussion. I believe in "don't bite newcomers" but unfortunately in this one specific instance this question really is about past track record.

OK cool. Support.

Setting that expectation for yourself is a fair and responsible approach. I support you.

Thanks for the context. I think it's acceptable when viewed on a personal level.
