Matcha prices are crazy...

President Haneichi greenlights nuclear tests on Kyonese islet

President Sanae Haneichi announced today at a press conference in Himeji City that the Union State will conduct nuclear tests on the uninhabited islet of Togujima in Kaito State. Codenamed Operation Godwind, the tests, according to President Haneichi, are intended to bolster national defence against future foreign threats. This marks the first time the US has tested nuclear weapons on its own soil in the 21st century. While no official confirmation has been made, experts believe the tests are to evaluate a new, unnamed Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) developed jointly by Tokai Instruments and the US military.

The announcement has drawn strong criticism from pacifist groups and opposition politicians. The nation's attention now turns to Togujima, where the tests are scheduled to take place on 4 September.

Soto announces the latest line of smartphones —AirPhone 18, 18 Pro, 18 Pro Max

Soto Technologies officially launched the AirPhone 18 smartphone line at the Uzoyo Techexpo 2025. Soto CEO Hanako Sotō introduced four new models: the AirPhone 18, AirPhone 18 Pro, AirPhone 18 Pro Max, and the AirPhone 18 Mini. The AirPhone 18 Mini marks a strategic reintroduction of the compact form factor, a design last seen with the AirPhone 6 in November 2015. The series features a 200MP Leto triple camera system.

A significant development is the debut of Soto Intelligence, a fully integrated system replacing the former Siren virtual assistant. This sophisticated AI platform was developed in partnership with Aura AI. Powering the series is the new X5 chip, which combines superior CPU and GPU performance with a high-speed Neural Engine. This delivers console-level graphics, advanced on-device AI processing, and exceptional power efficiency, all contributing to an optimised all-day battery life.

The AirPhone 18 line features a durable construction with a titanium-enriched case. The structure is water-resistant, capable of withstanding contact with water for up to 20 minutes. Audio fidelity is provided by the refined Duoby Surround Sound System. The inclusion of Nitro Charging technology allows for rapid battery replenishment, achieving a full charge within fifteen minutes.

The AirPhone 18 is available in six colour options: White, Light Pink, Purple, Green, Space Grey, and Black. Storage configurations are offered at 256GB, 528GB, and 1TB. Pricing information is formally announced and available on the official Soto website and ToYo page, though final pricing may be subject to regional variation due to international tariffs, local taxes, and independent vendor pricing structures.

AITA for blowing all of my life savings into Nirvana only for it to blow

I (32M) am married to my wife (30F) for five years now. We live in Asahi, a place near Shinji, and I have been a salaryman for a fuckass bank since I graduated cum laude from Morita University back in 2014. When this whole AI thing blew up, I decided it would be nice to invest some money in Nirvana since my wife was pregnant with our son at the time. I wanted to have some rainy day fund for the future, maybe even moving out of our Danchi for a nice single family house down at the city centre.

I blew around ₩1.52 million (or IBU$9,600 for you gaijin) on Nirvana stocks, thought we had it good for a while. I was a big tech bro kind of guy, I adored Marstrand, I thought AI was the future. Nirvana was going steady when I first started in 2022, and it grew nice in 2023 too. I thought my plan was foolproof. I wanted to sell at peak instead of randomly selling. That's what those Sutherans told on the web anyway. But then I fucked up big time this year. Real big.

Nirvana down by like, 30 per cent, as we speak. I invested in BanzAI when it came out in 2025, also gone. I lost all of my funds. Can barely pay for my mortgage now, my credit score tanked, my tech bro friends are not answering my messages. Wife is angry, she says I'm a dumbass for blindly throwing money on stocks and investments. I didn't come home for three days now, I keep drinking and passing out after work at Shibari Crossing. I am afraid that she will ask for a divorce soon. Lost around ₩2.3 million (IBU$14,000) in total, I am now living in the red. Rido, AITA?
