#Ti-kêr #Mairie ("City Hall") Season 2 Episode 11. It’s a Skinwel series about a fictional small-ish city and the problems it faces, from the perspective of the mayor and the city workers. @Caël_Boënnec plays Finbarr, a poor homeless drug addict who recently arrived in town. He went to this town because he knew his sister Anne (@GaëlleLeCoz) lives in the city, working as an assistant to one of the city councilors. After avoiding him numerous times, Anne was finally spotted by Finbarr on the street, hence this scene. Anne was ashamed of her good-for-nothing brother and instead humiliated him in public.​

He still died in this series. Things never change.​

In the subsequent episode of#Ti-kêr #Mairie ("City Hall") S2E12, the city hall gets informed that a poor homeless drug addict named Finbarr is requesting assistance. (After Finbarr's own sister rejects him and refuses to help him.) Given Saintonge’s right-to-shelter laws, the city hall must find a home for Finbarr. The city was having problems accommodating him. This causes more issues for his sister Anne, who works at the city hall. Her co-workers think that Anne is heartless and mean for not helping out her brother and just simply dumping him to live on the street. But before the city hall could move Finbarr into a shelter, he gets struck in a hit-and-run in broad daylight.​

@Caël_Boënnec never portrayed the corpse but this was the last scene of the hit-and-run, him screaming as the car was about to hit him:​

Aozer darvoudoù, S3E7-8 “Tud vat echuit da ziwezhañ” (“Nice guys finish last.”). It’s a series about a group of event planners. Each pair of episodes is a story: the first episode sees them planning for an event, the second episode is the outcome. In this story arc Caël plays Keran, an affable client who was the groom at a wedding. His fiancée Tirid was a bridezilla and Keran kept apologising to the main characters (the event planners). Frosið hjarta / Coeur Gelé / Kalon skornet (“Frozen Heart”). It’s a collab between the two Interflix studios HunvreGweled in Bethany and Diakron Productions in Prydania. It’s part of Interflix’s efforts to branch out and make productions in other markets. It’s mainly a Prydanian production now, but some parts were made in Saintonge.​

The series is about an ice hockey player named Gunnar Ejdsell (played by @Thorsteinn_Skartveit) and how he deals with the trauma of the past. Also touches on homophobia in ice hockey and sport in general. Gunnar’s entire family was murdered by the Syndicalists during the Prydanian Civil War. Now orphaned, Gunnar escaped to Saintonge as a teenager. Being older, he simply aged out of the system without being adopted. While at the orphanage, Gunnar learned ice hockey and adopted it as his sport. After aging out of the orphanage, Gunnar was scouted and was offered to play professionally for an ice hockey team based in Béthanie. At Béthanie, Gunnar met Thibault Tromeur (@Caël_Boënnec’s character), who was also of the same age. Thibault helped Gunnar settle and fit in. Both defencemen, Gunnar and Thibault became defensive partners in-game and eventually developed feelings for each other; despite not really realising they were gay in the first place. Unfortunately, Thibault died on-ice during a game, after a skate slashed his neck and he bled to death. Distraught over Thibault’s death, Gunnar went back to Prydania. After everyone he loved died and the love of his life gone, Gunnar had closed his heart (hence the series title) and was afraid to love again… for fear of losing another loved one.​

I think that’s because he became more popular in Prydania first. The series he got famous for in Prydania? Frosið hjarta / Coeur Gelé, the one where he’s an ice hockey player falling in love with a teammate.​

Meanwhile, here in Saintonge, we know him more for sweet romantic straight roles like in Bodadeg / Réunion and Lancou, harsh villains like in Petit Royaume, jocks like in La Vie Empruntée and Notenn c'hwitet, or even as a f*ckboy like in Amazonezed. Coeur Gelé isn’t popular in Saintonge.​

Skoazelloù bethoneg (“Assizes of Bethany”) S8E17, Skinwel’s legal drama. Caël’s character is Keran, a college student who was the main witness to a murder. After novice Redon prosecutor Anne-Marie Nogrix bungled the case at the Court of Assizes of the Boëme, the murderer was freed on probation. The prosecutors managed to lodge an appeal to the Assize Appeals Court in Béthanie. However, the murderer killed Keran before the retrial in Béthanie. It taught Nogrix that lives can be on the line for every case. She was dismissed from the prosecution service at the end of Episode 18.​

This is from S2E14 of Ifern (“Underworld”), a Skinwel series for Interflix about the Bethanian criminal underworld and their victims. (The Bethanian Underworld doesn’t really exist IRL.) Caël plays a down-on-his-luck young man named Braël, who unknowingly goes deep into debt with loan sharks associated with the mafia. Braël needed money because his manipulative mother tricked him into turning over his life savings; only to find out that his mother had gave it to his spendthrift pampered spoiled golden child sister. Braël was further saddled with credit card debt by his girlfriend, who then left him after using up all his credit. Braël got suckered into a get-cash-quick scheme, not knowing it was from loan sharks affiliated with the mafia. He was in jail because the loan sharks conspired for him to be locked up so he would agree to their demands. The mafia offered Braël an out: work for the mafia until he pays off the debt. Braël agreed and he was let out of prison.​

It is what you think it is. This is from S2E15 of Ifern (“Underworld”). In the previous episode, Braël (@Caël_Boënnec’s character) was victimised by loan sharks associated with the mafia. He was even put into jail by the loan sharks. In desperation, Braël took the mafia’s offer to work for them until he pays off the debt.​

Little did Braël knew that the mafia was planning to force him to work as an escort, a male prostitute. What’s worse is that Segal, the mafia pimp, was intending to offer him to rich men. Threatening Braël’s life, Segal forced Braël to service multiple men in a secret debauched orgy at a guesthouse. The rich men, having paid good money for ‘a handsome virgin man’, were given a free rein to do anything and everything to Braël. After they were done, Segal ordered Braël to shower up (hence the screengrab) so that he would be ready for the next party. Disgusted and angry, Braël attacks Segal. Braël manages to overpower Segal before escaping the guesthouse. Upon reaching the nearest police station, Braël tearfully tells his story of r~pe and abuse to the unsympathetic police officer. The police officer simply takes note of the story and tells Braël to come back a few days later when the investigation is set up. As Braël walks out of the police station, a mafia foot soldier shoots him dead.​

Skinwel left a lot to the viewer’s imagination. They did not show graphic scenes. They were creative with the use of camera angles, closeups, and shadows. Caël’s impeccable acting carried the scene – screaming in pain, crying from the abuse, sobbing from the humiliation, even those retching sounds – but the viewer doesn’t really see a lot of the action. Even just that screengrab posted will tell you a lot about Caël’s character’s feelings… disgusted with himself, shame at his humiliation, angry at the abuse, misery from his helplessness. Kudos to @Caël_Boënnec for his great acting!​

I like a challenge. I was told a lot of actors in Bethany had refused the role and they were running out of people to offer it to. I also heard it was supposedly one of the first episodes in season two, but they couldn’t find an actor for Braël. I was curious as to what it is.​

That said, it was probably the most difficult role I had to play. It was even more difficult than the one I had in Petit Royaume.​

Nope. They gave me skin tone-coloured jockstrap to wear. All of the other actors in the scene are professional actors. They know how difficult my role must be, so while they look like they abused me on camera, they actually treated me respectfully and carefully off camera. Bron, the fiftysomething actor who plays the politician in the abuse scene, approached me after filming to see if I was alright. They also had a mental health professional on the set to check on me afterwards.​
