The Court has selected @Sanctaria to be Bar Commissioner subject to a confirmation vote by the Regional Assembly, in place of Vivanco.
The Court asks Speaker @Skaraborg to hold the confirmation vote at the Regional Assembly's earliest convenience.
The Court has nominated @Sanctaria to succeed Vivanco as Bar Commissioner of the Bar Commission. I now open the floor for debate and discussion on this appointment.

Should they wish to do so, I'd also like to invite @Attempted Socialism to deliver a brief statement on behalf of the Court in support of their nomination.

Once moved, the motion that I will be putting to vote for this confirmation is as follows:

The Regional Assembly, in accordance with the Court's nomination, appoints Sanctaria as Bar Commissioner.

I would ask the court to present its reasoning on appointing a non-bar member to the bar commission.

I don't think I need to spend much time introducing Sanctaria in general. Sanctaria is engaged, well-reasoned, has an inquisitive mind, and is a boon to any discussion they participate in. These are excellent qualities on the Bar Commission, where attention to detail and analysis of (legal) qualifications are required. So instead of praising Sanctaria further I will try to answer Dreadton's question.

The Court did start by turning to the Bar roster, but per the rules of the Bar Commission, most of the current members of the Bar are ineligible for the Commission. There is one member of the Bar who is eligible, and that is Dreadton themself. With two vacancies, at least one new Commissioner could not be a member of the Bar already. With that in mind, the Court looked to citizens who either had shown clear interest in judicial matters before or who had skills we thought would be easily transferable to the Commission. As Chief Justice I reached out to citizens the Court believes can take their seat on the Commission with a minimum of interruption, and Sanctaria accepted the Court's appointment. If the Regional Assembly disagrees, then that is exactly the reason for the confirmation vote; does the Assembly find that the Court made the right choice? The Court believes that Sanctaria is a good choice despite not being a member of the Bar.

To @Sanctaria : given that you only recently returned to the region, do you believe that you will be able to maintain consistent activity in the region for the duration of your term?
Yes, I do. I have not been inactive on NationStates in general, I've been focusing my time in areas where I felt I could do the most with the time I had. I returned to TNP because I am able to focus on the region again. I would not have done so, nor agreed to this nomination, if I felt I would not be able to commit.

@Sanctaria have you had a chance to review the bar commission rules and the applications for admission to the bar, and determine if you felt further refinement or adjustment was necessary? If you think such refinement is in order, what form would it take?

Regarding your role in choosing a court examiner, is there any criteria or approach to that role that you would look for in a prospective examiner? How proactive do you believe they should be in exercising their power?

Hey @Sanctaria, I see the role of being Bar Examiner as an important role with impartiality, Integrity, and Transparency as the most important qualities of being part of that role. You need Impartiality to make the most honest, respected, and morally right decisions on stuff, appoint people to certain jobs they well do in and will be trusted do in so, and have trust the Bar Examiner will uphold the integrity and rules of the Bar. With that in mind, what qualities will you bring to the role and what do you think is the right thing to do in a court case?

Also, do you believe the Bar Association itself is good in its present form, or if not, what do you think we should add on and change in the Bar Association? (This is expanding on @Pallaith's 1st question!).

As indicated on Discord, I would like for my nomination to be withdrawn.

As indicated on Discord, I would like for my nomination to be withdrawn.
Your wish to withdraw is recognized. The Regional Assembly will cease considering you for Bar Commissioner.

The Court may, at their leisure, nominate another candidate for the position. At which point, a new thread will be opened for the purpose of debate and discussion on that new nomination.
