Brazilian operator to use PTC on its routes
Brazilian multinational corporation Vale has announced that it is working with equipment and technology provider Wabtec to install an advanced operational safety system for its railway transportation network.
The company has reached an agreement with Wabtec (NYSE: WAB) to install Positive Train Control (PTC) on the Carajás Railway (EFC) and the Vitória a Minas Railway (EFVM).
Vale believes that the new system will raise the Railways’ operational safety standards and advance its innovation and logistics efficiency strategy.
The two railway routes are already among the safest in Brazil, measured by criteria set by Brazil’s National Land Transportation Agency (ANTT).
They are also the only two lines in the country which regularly carry passenger services.
