We cross busy middle fast lines for our relief train and working return to Bristol! (steam) Buck up!
Pullman coming says my driver?
Rail ‘Change over’ is like leaving your holiday hotel in Spain! (Have I got everything)? Tea Caddy, Coats, Drivers fags? Sweets?
We jump down from platform and cross many lines?
Hence the Buck up!
The Welsh Cardiff Pullman goes through a bit too close for comfort!
Doing 90 MPH or seemingly more?
Like a dose of salts for me to truly heed, and follow my drivers warning!
My introduction of the 1965 vision of the Cardiff Blue Pullman was of track bedding vibrating!
And my utterance of ‘What the hell was that? And to never be constipated ever again!
The spitting Dragon come on Bath road shed for me to walk and suss out this majestic thing!
I walk its corridors as a member of the scrap gang!
I excuse its once scare of me!
But notice its workings don’t require a fireman like me?
Maybe that’s the biggest scare? I'm not wanted anymore! Nor 100s or 1000s of others over the land just like me? Scary times?
But I spose the Pullman was only a blue, ‘jazzed up’ version of the first 1963 diesel DMU my old driver would have to learn!
I watched him get it away?
He only ever drove a Push Bike for heavens sake!
But he was the master of STEAM!! (Good)!
But it was me (His fireman) who found the wind screen wipers on the 63, (22 class) diesel? Our 1st diesel!
I saw him at his end!
He didn’t know me?
Don’t fret said his wife of many years, He doesn’t know who I am either?
