How is St. George Winning? Reputation or Misinformation?

(OPINION / ELECTION COVERAGE) 3:13 EST, Magicality City, The North Pacific. This question is highly contested by many, but now, this may be a reality. According to The North Pacific Today's accurate voting count (AVC), St. George was leading against Dreadton by a wide margin of 51-35 with MTDemocracy earning 3 votes, and Comfed gaining only one vote. The North Pacific Today's election analysts say that a big cause of St. George's (Madjack)'s lead is a little bit of both. While misinformation rates were extremely low this election, however, reputation was a big part of St. George's lead. St. George was successfully able to sympathize with the crowd, and sway them in his favor. Whereas Dreadton, had a very good thread, good solutions, and a good reputation, but failed to offer emotional sympathy to the crowd. Besides, St. George's reputation was also a big part of his win. His time as Minister of Culture, and his role as the RMB-Suppressor role gave him a popularity edge over Dreadton, who is vastly known on the forums, but little known on the RMB. Dreadton has a big asset on his side however, and that is that most high-rank officials here in The North Pacific have given him their vote, giving him some hope of a comeback. However, this election isn't over yet, and changes are common. This is The North Pacific Today, reporting from Magicality City, The North Pacific.

St. George Projected Winner in a Landslide!

(ELECTION COVERAGE) 11:46 EST, Magicality City, The North Pacific. The North Pacific Today's election analysts have just projected St. George as the new Delegate. St. George is projected to have won by a wide margin of 52-36 versus Dreadton. Third Party candidate MTDemocracy is projected to have won 4 votes, while Comfed has gained a single vote. Nobody knows for sure what changes may come. Our analysts converted these projections into percentages resulting in the following results:
- St. George - Winner (52 Votes, 56.5%)
- Dreadton - Runner-Up (36 Votes, 39.1%)
- MTDemocracy - Lost (4 Votes, 4.3%)
- Comfed - Lost (1 Vote, 1.08%)

These results have been accurately counted and projected by our team of analysts, yet the results are only confirmed when The North Pacific Election Commission confirms them. And so, The North Pacific, is again going to see a new Delegate, in a new term, with a new policy. This is The North Pacific Today, reporting from Magicality City, The North Pacific.

St. George, Sir Kato, and Ministers Swear the Oath of Office!
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

(ELECTION COVERAGE / NEWS / OPINION) 04:29 EST, Magicality City, The North Pacific. Today has marked the official inauguration of yet again another new administration here in TNP. Delegate St. George, along with Vice Delegate Sir Kasto, and the Ministers/Cabinet took their oath and now officially start their new term as public servants of The North Pacific. Our political correspondents and analysts say that this term is off to a exciting start, St. George provides the needed
experience, and wisdom for the coming term. While Sir Kasto and the majority of the cabinet are very popular and known both on the forums and the RMB, which will provide for much needed support and help from ordinary TNPers, that many previous administrations lacked. This is The North Pacific Today, reporting from Magicality City, The North Pacific.

Regional Assembly Voting to Re-new Min. Boston Castle's Exempt From Citizenship Rules Yet Again
_________________________________________________________________________________________________

(REGIONAL ASSEMBLY / OPINION / NEWS) 5:02 EST, The North Pacific Regional Assembly, Magicality City, The North Pacific. North Pacifican law states that no Minister can become one unless he is a citizen. Last term, Former Delegate Robespierre (Francois Isidore) exempt then/now-Minister Boston Castle from this law. Boston Castle was unable to gain citizenship because he was applying using a business IP address. Now, Delegate St. George decided to keep Boston Castle as Minister of World Assembly Affairs (WA-Affairs / MoWAA), but in order to do this, he needs to re-new Boston Castle's exempt. This is why we're seeing this motion on the voting floor yet again. There is currently barely any resistance to the exempt, excluding 3 representatives who voted "Nay" (Siwale, Angshire, Tinhampton). The objectors are probably claiming the same arguments older objectors of the exempt made. Which is that in order to protect TNP's safety, democracy, and liberty, we need to keep this rule. Our Head Editor, @Nubt II (himself a RA Representative who voted "Aye"), claimed the newspapers' and his opinion on this. "This argument could've been claimed if this was Cormac or Whole India, or some other dangerouse threat to The North Pacifican Community, but this is Boston Castle, he was an amazing asset to our previous administration, and has helped the WA-Ministry in many ways. Besides, we've already tried him out for a term, all he did was the better for our community." This is The North Pacific Today, reporting from The North Pacific Regional Assembly, Magicality City, The North Pacific.

Race for Speaker Heats Up! Oracle Takes a Lead!
_________________________________________________________________________________________________
(ELECTION COVERAGE / OPINION) 7:05 EST The North Pacific Election Commission, Magicality City, The North Pacific. The race for Speaker was getting exciting today, as there are a pretty high number of candidates, 5 of them (Oracle, Bobberino, Skaraborg, Fregerson, and Nubt II). We here at the Election Commission are seeing all the votes being cast. Our analysts decided to conduct a EACV (Early and Accurate Vote Count) to determine who is leading so far, here are the results:

Total Votes Cast: 52 Votes
- Oracle (Independent): LEADING (15 Votes - 28.8%)
- Bobberino (Independent): LOSING (11 Votes - 21.1%)
- Nubt II (TNPSP / The North Pacifican Socialist Party): LOSING (2 Votes - 3.8%)
- Fregerson (Independent): LOSING (7 Votes - 13.4%)
-Skaraborg (Independent): LOSING / RUNNER-UP (12 Votes - 23.07%)
-Abstain: 5 Votes
But remember, these results are counted by our analysts, and are therefore not confirmed until the voting deadline is passed, and The Election Commission confirms these votes. As for us, all we can do, is wait. This is The North Pacific Today, reporting from The North Pacific Election Commission, Magicality City, The North Pacific.

Oracle's Keeping His Lead!
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

(ELECTION COVERAGE) 03:02 EST The North Pacific Election Commission, Magicality City, The North Pacific. Our analysts' predictions continue their validity today as we conducted yet another EAVC (Early and Accurate Vote Count) and our results, kept crowning Oracle champion, see the EAVC results below:
Total Vote Count: 61 Votes
- Oracle (Independent): LEADING (20 Votes - 32.78%)

Can you conduct a count of the Speaker vote after preference distribution?
I've considered this, but it's already a lengthy process to try and count every vote out there, and do it in shorter time than the Election Commission, while publishing the copies here, and adding quality commentary, fixing/editing the format, and adding preference filters would only make it even harder for me, and our volunteers. I will try and get this idea done though, because I believe it would help us compete with other media sources, and add to reader views. So, I'll try and add it, if we have enough time and volunteers. Great suggestion though!

May I clarify that that’s not how the general elections work. A government official needs a majority of the votes, something Oracle hasn’t achieved as it stands. Instead, the nation with the least votes will be removed and the other nations will be competing in a runoff where the 2nd preference of the nations that voted for the least voted candidate will be counted and if no nations achieve majority there either the next nation with the least votes will be removed and the others will enter another runoff until we have a nation that has achieved a majority vote.
That’s why we vote
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
and not only for our favourite.

Oh. Thanks for telling me about that, I just learned something new! No wonder I was always counting only the 1st preference. OK, so these counts are only the counts for the first preferences.

BTW, special thanks to @Sir Kasto for liking our posts! :spin:

Oracle Remains Projected Winner in 5-Prefernce EAVC Versus Skaraborg!
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

(ELECTION COVERAGE) 03:02 EST The North Pacific Election Commission, Magicality City, The North Pacific. Recently, The North Pacific Today's Head Editor (@Nubt II) managed to convince the Board of Election Coverage Specialists @ The North Pacific Today (BECS@TNPT) to conduct a EAVC based on ALL preferences and not just the first preference (Idea credit goes to @Gorundu; Thanks for suggesting!). And so, our correspondents, analysts, and reporters here at the Election Commission are counting every vote based on preferences, and here are the results:
1st Preference Results:
Total Votes: 65 Votes
Oracle (Independent) - LEADING (22 Votes)
Bobberino (Independent) - LOSING (11 Votes)
Skaraborg (Indpendent) - LOSING (15 Votes)
Nubt II (TNPSP - The North Pacifican Socialist Party) - LOSING (3 Votes)
Fregerson (Independent) - (9 Votes)
Abstain - (5 Votes)
Final Results: Nubt II is eliminated, Bobberino, Skaraborg, Oracle, and Fregerson head to the 2nd Round:
2nd Preference Results:
Total Votes:
Oracle (Independent) - LEADING (25 Votes)
Bobberino (Independent) - LOSING (10 Votes)
Skaraborg (Indpendent) - LOSING (15 Votes)
Fregerson (Independent) - (8 Votes)
Abstain - (5 Votes)
Final Results: Fregerson is eliminated, Bobberino, Oracle, and Skaraborg head to the 3rd Round:
3rd Round Results:
Total Votes:
Oracle (Independent) - LEADING (25 Votes)
Bobberino (Independent) - LOSING (15 Votes)
Skaraborg (Indpendent) - LOSING (16 Votes)
Fregerson (Independent) - (8 Votes)
Abstain - (5 Votes)
Final Results: Bobberino is eliminated, Oracle and Skaraborg head to the 4th (and last) Round:
4th Round Results:
Total Votes:
Oracle - WINNER (29 Votes)
Skaraborg - Lost (23 Votes)
Final Results: Oracle is elected Speaker. Skaraborg is defeated in a close race.
And so, The North Pacific Today remains to project Oracle as the winner, but with no end in sight, all we can do is wait, and count. This is The North Pa The North Pacific Election Commission, Magicality City, The North Pacific.

Secutity Council Split Over "Repeal Liberate Nazi Europa!
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

(WORLD ASSEMBLY / OPINION) 10:05 EST The Security Council, The World Assembly Headquarters, NationStates Capital, NationStates. Recently, world-renown World Assembly author Tinhampton has authored a new Security Council resolution. But unlike previous ones, this one has to do with Nazi Europa. And, these days, Nazism is a very sensitive and mostly-avoided topic in TNP, and all of NS. Which is what makes this resolution highly contested, and highly controversial. Tinhampton's argument is that the resolution is unnecessary, as he said in this debate over the resolution on the NS forums, "I have always supported the repeal of unnecessary resolutions". Opposers of the repeal however, such as TWP official Giovanniland had this to say, "Since the region was mod-deleted and prevented from ever being refounded, there's no reason to repeal and give it any more attention. One can't claim the community uses the liberation as a badge of honor, since there's no community nor region to speak of anymore. All this will do is give fascists across NationStates - especially those previously residing in this region that may have joined other fascist ones since then - a platform to advertise their evil ideology, and nobody wants that." Here in TNP, most voters (excluding Dinski) were against the resolution, claiming that it returned Nazi Europa back on the spotlight, for no reason at all. The resolution is currently failing to get passed by a vote of 5,625 to 9,384 in the SC. Even Justice, former Delegate, and re-nown TNPer, Pallaith laughed off the resolution, saying "I can’t even laugh at this. If it were possible I would zap it away with laser vision". From the NS Delegacies side, here are the major Delegates that voted for and against the resolution:
FOR:
- Amerion (TSP)
- The Altae Isles (TEP)
- Duby (Conch Kingdom)
- Tesdai (Lands End)
AGAINST:
- Francois Isidore (TNP)
- Dilber (TWP)
- East Durthang (The Pacific)
- Wischland (10KI)
- Kethania (TCB)
- North East Somerset (Balder)
- Treadwellia (Lazarus)
- Primorye Oblast (Europeia)
- Agalesia (TRR)
- Luna State (Osiris)

NationStates Bracing For Another N-Day!
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

(RP/ NS NEWS/ NS / OPINION) 4:19 EST Max Barry's Closet, The Republican Palace of H.E. Max Barry, NationStates Capital, NationStates. After spying from Max Barry's personal closet, and risking their lives, our brave correspondents have just uncovered the date on which NS is to hold it's celebrated N-Day, or Nuke-Day. On September 25th, 2021, N-Day, or Nuke-Day will start. On this most celebrated day, nations mercilessly bombard each other with nuclear bombs. However there is much more to N-Day than that, if you want to know more about N-Day, we suggest going here (credit goes to Testlandia), here (credit goes to Tim-Opolis), and here (credit goes to The Leftist Assembly, and Cedoria. Hello readers!
Sorry for not adding a new issue for the last two days, I had some family events, and had to postpone some of them. We will come back to normal production (hopefully) starting tomorrow! If I have some extra time, I might (probably) even add a new issue today!

Stay in tune!
Founder, and Head Editor @Nubt II of Mortipal,
Vice-Editor, and Execuive Staff President French Austria,
and The North Pacific Today's Staff

P.S. Sorry for adding a half-built issue the days before, it was a test for our new design (that we decided to scrap), I have now edited it so it's a full story! I again, apologize for any trouble me and my staff might have caused, and assure that this isn't a new normal.

I have just scheduled our poll to close in the next hour, our next poll will be....

East Durthang Card Sheds 4 Times It's Value!
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

(CARDS / FINANCIAL ADVICE / OPINION / NEWS) 5:06 EST, Cards District, NationStates Capital, NationStates. Today our economic and financial cards analysts (EFCA’s) noticed a dramatic drop in one of NationStates’ most iconic and important cards. That is of Pacifican Delegate, East Durthang. Durthang’s card unexpectedly shedded 4 times it’s value (4.00→ 0.60 - Rough Estimate) after a series of low buys; this drop was expected, as our analysts repeatedly warned buyers for month that the card would collapse. So, as this card rose quickly through the ranks to become the most expensive card of the 5 feeder Delegates’, it collapsed as quickly as it rose, know worthing even lower than North Pacifican (Outgoing) Delegate Francois Isidore (1.00 - Rough Estimate). Many card-owners were both shocked and melancholy at the card’s collapse, as it was the centrepiece of their collection. However, there are some buyers quickly seized the opportunity and starting buying their own copies of the card, mostly believing that will rise again, and they could make a profit off of it, or simply so they can say (brag) “I have Durthang’s card! On the RMB. So what do we recommend? Buy! This card is incredibly iconic, and is of a Delegate who will mostly likely last long, so it will probably be worth the money, and work out as a good investment. Besides, even if it does collapse (again), you could just add it to your NS Delegate’s collection! Thank you for reading, and this is The North Pacific Today, reporting from Cards District, NationStates Capital, NationStates.

N-Day Is Coming Up! Two More Days, Until Hell on NationStates!
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

(RP / NS NEWS/ NS / OPINION / NEWS) 6:16, NationStates Capital, NationStates. There is only one more days... until NS explodes with nuclear bombs! That's right! NS is finally seeing the return of one of it's most celebrated days, in two days! As usual all NS'ers are very excited, and already aiming at who to bomb. Some nations already starting forming factions for themselves. Symbols of this excitement can be seen everywhere on the forum, for example, NSer Esthe, already made up his mind on who he's bombing, saying, "Probably all the raiding regions.", while Wapistan, had a funnier view of it by saying "anyone who calls me fat!". Again, people were already planning on which faction they'll join, for example, NSer Arvenia had this to say "I choos the Potato Alliance", while Potato Alliance Founder Tim-Opolis said this, "Want to survive? Potato Alliance is the place for you. That's where I'll be. And I intend to lead us to victory once more.". Even on the World Assembly floors, a N-Day resolution is there. So, just like every N-Day, winners will rise, losers will emerge and neutrals will hide; and factions will brag and battle. So who will you join? And how will YOU spend your N-Day? Be sure to share below! As for me, this is The North Pacific Today, reporting from NationStates Capital, NationStates.

Drug Decriminalization Act, Coming Out On Top!
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

(WORLD ASSEMBLY / OPINION / NEWS) 3:22 EST, The General Assembly, The World Assembly Headquarters, NationStates Capital, NationStates. Once again, a drug-related proposal has mad it's way through the halls of the General Assembly. But this time, it's actually passing. This resolution is highly important, however, because it could overturn every WA nations' policy against drugs. Mainly, the resolution legalizes drugs from most aspects. However, may NSers are shocked at how the World Assembly's "conservative wing" could let such a resolution go by so easily. The answer is complex, although there is some right-wing opposition to the proposal, most noticed that debate isn't as much as before, it is the result of NS cracking down on most conservative-turning-fascist nations, and most debate on such issue being avoided; most NSers would support these campaigns, just as we think that these are the righteous things to do. And so, the resolution is currently passing by a wide margin of 7,915 (65.8%) to 4,108 (34.2%). However, you probably want to know the major Delegate's votes, and here they are:
FOR:
- Amerion (TSP)
- The Altae Isles (TEP)
- Dilber (TWP)
- Wischland (10KI)
- North East Somerset (Balder)
- Treadwellia (Lazarus)
- Primorye Oblast (Europeia)
AGAINST:
- Francois Isidore (TNP)
- Imperium Anglorum (Europe)
- Duby (Conch Kingdom)
- Agalaesia (TRR)
- Tesdai (Lands End)
- Lesser Velutaria (Anteria)
- Bearded Dragones (Cape of Good Hope)
However here in The North Pacific, the resolution is not having that good of a time, meeting very strong resistance in the Regional Assembly, a example of that is @Imperium Anglorum who strongly disagreed with resolution saying "

I'm frankly confused as to why this was rushed to submission. The point which Abacathea raised, as to treating all drugs equally, regardless of whether they are dangerous or not, is a good one. The wording of the proposal's definition "simple drug possession" with "malicious intent" doesn't make any sense. Intent to do what? When the word "malicious" is used in law, it literally means "intent" or "recklessness". If we take "malicious intent" to really mean "intent to harm", which I think was what was intended, nothing stops member nations just creating rebuttable presumptions that possession of some drug is with intent to harm the self or others. Similarly, member nations could create rebuttable presumptions of intent to distribute with tiny quantities (the most famous example being Singapore's Misuse of Drugs Act). Both massively reduce the efficacy of the proposal in seeking its goals. A tighter wording is sorely needed.
Moreover, the sine qua non relationship between decriminalisation and effective substance abuse treatment programmes also goes entirely unremarked on. Decriminalisation without treatment just brings all the actual harms that drugs cause: violent crime, assault, robberies for money, property theft, destruction, hospital bills, deaths, etc. Treatment without decriminalisation doesn't work at all. The two must go together. Someone said in the GA forum that they could go in separate resolutions, which is missing the point: the two must go together for them to work, separating them and opening the possibility of one being enacted without the other opens member nations to the risk a worse outcome than doing nothing. And this could have been avoided at little if any cost to the author. It doesn't help that there is no public draft or indication of any such supplement." However, there still was some support for the proposal, with it's creator, @Greater Cesnica having this to say "
We strongly agree with the intent of this resolution. While we understand the negative aspects of drugs and how negative their use can be both on social relationships and on sapient beings, we find that simple possession is simply a waste of resources that could be going to combat more injurious activities. While we agree with the criticism levied that World Assembly member states would be better served if the decriminalization of drugs was swiftly followed by a plan to help treat addicts, we cannot let that stand in the way of righting this wrong, even if we believe fully that it would be a massive benefit for the community. For the above reasons, the Ministry of World Assembly Affairs recommends a vote For the General Assembly Resolution at vote, "Drug Decriminalization Act". But there is one thing that's common with previous proposals in this one, it's that both sides are competing sharply, to get it rejected, or passed. And so, how will you vote? This is The North Pacific Today, reporting from The General Assembly, The World Assembly Headquarters, NationStates Capital, NationStates.

Why did you count VPS, which has not had a poll since May, but not The North Pacific Tropical, which covered the September elections?

@Gorundu, I am impressed! Somehow, every time I post something, you seem to bring up really good questions that I stupidly overlook :bigdoh:. Thank you for asking, and please see my replies below!
Who was the report controversial to?
I received hate-mail via NS TG's a certain person who wanted his news service to be on the list. I reported him to moderators.
Why didn't you count all three threads for The North Pacific Standard?
That actually sounds fair. As spokesman of the guild, and Head Editor of this newspaper, I will edit the results ASAP.

Again, this brings up a very fair point. I will edit the report ASAP.
