Repeal: “Liberate Nazi Europa”
Category: Repeal | Target: SC #246
Proposed by: Tinhampton | Onsite Topic
Replacement: < None >

THE SECURITY COUNCIL:

RECOGNISING that the passage of this repeal will not do anything to change this august body's firm and long-standing stance against fascism, national socialism, and other ideologies that promote discrimination;

RECALLING that, while the author of SC#246 hoped that the target region would "be made vulnerable by this august body through" its Liberation, the far superior outcome of its being involuntarily dissolved and prevented from ever being refounded was accomplished by decree of the Secretariat in May 2021;

NOTING that, far from currently having "an executive Founder," the target region currently has no founder of any description (never mind any residents); and

BELIEVING that the target region neither poses such a great threat to the international community that it should remain Liberated, nor has the ability to meaningfully relish in the repeal of its Liberation:

HEREBY REPEALS SC#246.
Note: Only votes from TNP WA nations and NPA personnel will be counted. If you do not meet these requirements, please add (non-WA) or something of that effect to your vote.

Overview
This resolution seeks to repeal SC#246, "Liberate Nazi Europa" on the grounds that recent rules changes gameside have rendered its continued existence on the books to be not necessary. It should be noted that recent moderation changes have deleted the region due to the site-wide prohibition of Nazism in names and themes.

Recommendation
A spurious, and frankly condemnable, line of reasoning. While it was noted in our IFV for Commend The Holy Principality of Saint Mark that "We are here to judge merits, not morals", resolutions of this nature should, and do, allow us to suspend that line of thinking. It is just that our approbation is withheld and indeed, derision applied, to those regions which espouse hateful ideologies like the Hydra-headed scourge which is fascism. Indeed, when the original proposal came to vote in 2018, we noted that "..the statement made by this proposal is clear and provides the community with a way to strike back against those who hold such hateful and bigoted ideologies.". The author of this resolution clearly wants to roll back the same statement that was made to this community upon its passage. We are virulently and violently opposed at any attempt to wipe this resolution off the board-fascists in the future should see this and know this is their fate. This is a clear case for morals over merits and NationStates is no place for hate. For the above reasons, the Ministry of World Assembly Affairs recommends a vote Against the Security Council Resolution at vote, "Repeal: 'Liberate Nazi Europa'".

Against - not necessarily because I am fundamentally opposed to the repeal (I have not made up my mind yet), but rather because it makes no sense to submit a repeal that has the sole purpose of lessening needless resolutions when there are other proposals that have an actual substantive effect being worked on. If this were submitted following a 2-week or more stall in SC proposals, I may very well have a different opinion.

Logically, though, this should probably pass if this gets to vote - the exposure will be there either way, and we might as well get this done with if it's there, to prevent future proposals potentially increasing the exposure. My "against" vote is on principle. I think the ideal scenario is that it doesn't get to vote, though.

The short answer is No. The long answer is less than pleasant. Suffice it to say, Against [non-WA].

I'm trying to decipher what on earth was the point of making this?

Hereby and henceforth Against. [NON-WA]
