Hammer (But No Sickle)

So it appears that once again, the hammer of ban has been used by the Powers that Be™, everyone's favourite dictators on NS. That's right, we're not talking about <Insert region to make fun of here>. We're talking about the admins, the people who are qualified to wield the Hammer of Ban. The most recent wielding of the Ban Hammer has led to a blanket ban on the inclusion of "Nazi" anywhere in a nation and/or a region's name or description. While this may not stem the influence of the far right within NS, it would prevent the most obvious examples from existing. Whether the ban would prove to be effective is yet unknown, since although the most egregious offenders may have been dealt with, at the same time it may encourage those targeted by the ban to use more subtle and effective methods to extend their influence.

Nonetheless, this is as good a time as any other to discuss the political stances of LWU as a region. Or rather, the lack thereof. Officially, as we have discussed previously, this region has but one aim, to develop and celebrate raiding as a part of R/D gameplay. We do not take any side or have any official political stance. We also do not operate on ideology and we do not discriminate when it comes to suitable targets for raiding. Admittedly, as (probably) humans with our own thoughts and ideas [citation needed], we have our own personal views and stances. We would however consider it separate compared to the region's official policy, and anyone is welcome as long as they can be a cooperative and collaborative member of the region.

This does not preclude us from working with any political-aligned region. After all, to us, any fair target is a suitable target for raiding. And this does not preclude us from having diplomatic or any other relations with any politically-aligned regions. We believe that anyone dedicated to advancing R/D gameplay with honour and professionalism are suitable as allies or co-belligerents in our actions. Because the art of R/D itself transcends politics.

Hammer and Sickle

One of those who fell to the Banhammering™ was the founder of the not-aptly-named region called Genua. Spoiler alert: It has nothing to do with the city or city-state that is now in Liguria, Italy, but in a case of extremely poor geography, appeared to have instead been associated with some type of nazism instead. Not even Fascism, y'know, which developed in Italy.

Either way, now was a region that became founderless. That could only mean one thing.

(Editor's note: Due to budget cuts, we were unfortunately unable to afford additional pixels. Please bear with us.)

A juicy target.

We were not the only ones to think of it as a target for raiding. After all, it was associated with Nazis, and that meant that the leftist-oriented regions would be scrambling over for that piece of free land. Again, although we are not ideoligically motivated that does not mean we refuse to work with those who are. Similarly, just because we happen to associate with Antifa for this operation doesn't mean that we are firm allies with them either. LWU is apolitical. We are dedicated to raiding. When we see a valid and valuable target, we are open to working with a variety of organisations to further our goals. Which is to ensure that raiding as an art form continues on. Accordingly, partnered with antifa as well as a host of other non explicitly-political regions, Genua was safely taken in another spectacular act of mutual collaboration, with 114 separate nations successfully updating in the region.

Which proves one thing. Pisa and Amalfi fell fast. Genoa fell far from its roots. Venice, the serene, is the true best Republic in the whole of Italy.

Note: LWU reporters were unable to take a picture in time. We have decided to add a meme to mask this fact instead. We blame defender sabotage efforts.

No Hammer, No Sickle

There are no puns in this section.

Following a jaunt in Italy, we sailed off back in to the unknown, through the Mediterranean.

What is Mediterranean cuisine famous for, among other things? Seafood.

That's right, we headed to FINland next.

About puns in this section? We lied. Deal with it.

Land of snow, hockey, fast racing drivers, of people successfully holding off the Soviets and of metal bands, among other things, Finland may not seem the most favoured place to be going for a raid, but we are LWU after all. No place is too remote, too cold, too hot, too extreme, too unexplored etc. If there's a target to be raided, you can bet that we will eventually get to it. Which is why we decided to make a slight detour North for a quick pit stop. Through the forests we went, and into the heart of the nation. The valley of the Moomins.

Following another successful raid, we also managed to steal some gifts from Santa, just in case. That fat bloke can hoard all the shiny things and only give them out once a year after all. Thus ended another world tour, brought to you by LWU.

Sickle (But no Hammer)

Some people say that the most important part of anything lies in the journey. That the process is more important than the final product. That the true treasure was the friends we made along the way. That nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition. We do not completely agree. As every farmer knows, regardless of whether you are growing grains, vegetables, flowers or [REDACTED], the best part of the planting cycle is in the harvest. It is after all when you get to see and reap the literal fruits of your labour. With that in mind, and continuing on LWU's tradition of developing skilled professionals in raiding, we are proud to announce our new batch of graduates from our training programme:

Firstly, Sidoneia has joined LWU Command as Khalif, meaning he now gets to know all the secrets and order everyone else around. Congratulations to Sidoneia, we are sure he will make for a fine addition to command. Florida Man stepped down as Khalif due to RL reasons a while ago, and as such command has altered somewhat.

The new command looks as such, if you need to contact us:
Khan: A Bloodred Moon
Khalifs: Haitianstates, Sidoneia
Alpha Emeritus: Scardino, Elysium Station II

Secondly, we'd like to announce that we finally bothered fixing up our ranking system, adding in the position of Kheshig. This was a previous rank in LWU, but it was designed for a larger organisation. We decided it was time we added it back. While we were at it, we decided to promote two deserving candidates, Astrid/Kasumi and Kawaii.

Hickle and Sammer?
(Editor's note: I don't even know. Think we're grasping at straws here.)

Due to administrative reorganisation, we would like to announce that from next issue onwards, Lupus™, the newsletter from Lone Wolves United, will switch to a bi-monthly publishing model instead of operating in monthly issues. Do not worry, there will be no sacrifice in quality then. Instead, every issue with be have more content and run longer, just so that you, our dear readers, will always be able to have your fill of quality [citation needed] content, brought to you by LWU. Subscribe now, for the low low price of FREE!

Until then...
