My warmest greetings as well as my heartfelt thanks to the new Department of Information and the publishers, management, and staff of the Online Pambansang Patnubay: Nationaler Leitfaden für Lawston.​

Pambansang Patnubay: Nationaler Informationsnotenpunkt, originally Besucherführer Hightonisch-Iterien, has always been a reliable source of information, not only for our foreign friends and guests, but for our fellow Lawstoners. Our children at school who need to learn more about our dear country and its far communities and different ways of life. Our families and friends who want to travel the nation and see the vast inheritance of our great ancestry. Also, our brothers and sisters from overseas who return to revisit their homeland.​

In Lawston, there is a march played every presidential inauguration. "Bagong Pagsilang," or "New Birth," is about how society must change in order for the nation to progress. As in every new president, in every new ministry, there will always be a new era. Ating itanghal ang bagong lipunan. Lass uns gehen und unsere neue Gesellschaft zeigen! Let us go and show our new society! It is the national vision to not only breath new life, but birth new life, to create new paths and new opportunities. Thus, a country constantly reborn. I hope you will find Lawston just as invigorating and exciting as I do.​

About Lawston​

​

The Lawstoner Republic is a sovereign state in West Iteria with a population of 36 million people. It spans more than 470,000 square kilometres of territory.​

The name Lawston is varied in different forms and it has changed many times in history, beginning in 1000 AD as Lusongto. Kianese trader Orson Adley arrived in the Lawstoner coast at a village in Sri Batan where he met Lapu-Lapu merchants. He wanted to ask about the name of their country, but one of the merchants misunderstood Adley when he pointed at a rice mortar in the merchant's wares. The merchant says "Lusong ito," which means "this is a mortar" in Tagapa. The Hightonians used the name "Hightonisch-Iterien" as the official name when they acquired the territory in 1925. But in 1941, the government started a nationalist campaign and used the name Lawston, which was translated by Hightonians from "Latog," the Tagapa name used by the Lasakit tribes to refer to the land.​

The Republic is a unitary parliamentary semi-elective diarchy. A chancellor is head of government but Lawston does not have an official head of state. Instead, the President of Lawston shares a similar ceremonial role with the Prince of Highton. Sovereignty, the right to rule, belongs only to the citizen and the government derives their power from them. As such, the President and the Prince of Highton are the joint Kaduwartas or Co-Princes, a title based on the ancient Lasakit rulers. The Kaduwartas are jointly defined in the Constitution as the "Symbol of National Unity and of the Sovereignty of the Citizen."​

Lawston was sold by the Syrixian Empire to Highton on April 1, 1925. In the same year, it became independent as a constitutional monarchy with the Prince of Highton as head of state, on the condition that Highton would have a say in Lawstoner affairs. On February 6, 1968, after the Lawstoner Bürgerkrieg (1964-1967) ended, a referendum abolished the monarchy and Lawston became a fully-independent republic in February 25. It is a member of Das Gemeinschaft, The Commonwealth, Food Security Organization, and the International Economic Forum.​

Lawston is a trillion-unit economy and has a GDP per capita of 52,700 IBU. Its currency is the Lawstoner block (L฿). The country's main exports are machinery, metal and engineering products, food and wood, pharmaceuticals and chemicals, and automobile/auto parts. Its top export markets are Astragon, Bashime, Fuss, Syrixia, and Ulstome. Its top import markets are Astragon, Bashime, Goyanes, Saintonge, and Skanda. Its main imports are fuels, capital and intermediate goods, chemicals, consumer goods, and minerals and nonferrous metals.​
