GOLD ON SAPPHIRE: EMPIRE TO PLAY IRAELIA IN FIRST GAME OF WORLD CUP GROUP STAGE
    by Prakash Patel in Pataliputra
    July 3, 2000

Lions head coach Suresh Reddy speaking at a press conference earlier today.

Earlier today CEFA announced the group placements for the 2019 CEFA World Cup in Goyanes. That country, chosen to hold the Cup over the Empire following a tense but exciting bidding process, was guaranteed a spot in Group A, by virtue of their being the host nation. However, all other placements were, as usual, random. CEFA's management announced today that the Empire would be placed in Group E, amongst three other nations: Demescia, Callise, and Iraelia. The first match the Empire will be facing within that group is against Iraelia's Sapphire Lions.

The Iraelian team, led by head coach Omri Yakir, will be facing off against a Lions team headed by veteran coach Suresh Reddy. When asked about the Empire's odds at a press conference in Pataliputra following the group announcements, Reddy stated, "I am not worried. This year our team will be approaching the Cup differently. We will play with grace, skill, poise, determination, and inner peace of mind. Win or lose, this year will be like no other; though I am confident in our ability to prevail over everything that comes our way. What we will do this year will echo in history."

Reddy's approach falls in stark contrast to his previous, more aggressive approaches to team technique. Reddy was appointed head coach in 2016, and was stalwart in promoting a method of instilling strength and projecting that strength outward. However, the Lions' World Cup record, infamously bad despite soccer long being popular in the Empire, was no pushover for Reddy, whose Lions were still unable to win the Cup. Some rumors, though unsubstantiated, say that Reddy's new approach comes from advice from his local pandit, with others saying it is simply an experiment to figure out what play style works best and most effectively for the Imperial team.

Whatever the case, CEFA is set to announce the concise play schedules at some point in the coming days, likely sooner than later if past World Cups are any evidence. When that happens, Reddy, his team, and the Imperial public will know exactly when lions of gold and sapphire will clash to determine who moves on in the group stage, and whether His Majesty's Lions' new technique of inner peace will glide them to ultimate victory.

CEFA RELEASES COMPREHENSIVE GROUP SCHEDULES; LIONS TO PLAY IRAELIA ON JULY 13TH
    by Prakash Patel in Pataliputra
    July 4, 2000

The full Group E schedule, released by CEFA barely a half hour ago.

Earlier this morning, as predicted, CEFA promptly released its full group phase schedules; not even a half a day since the groups themselves were announced. This new height for CEFA efficiency gives each member of each group three games. In Group E, the Empire's own group, the Lions will play Iraelia on the 13th, Demescia on the 17th, and Callise on the 21st. The games will be played at Vannington Field, Jårnbrau Stadium, and KreditNyhett Stadium respectively.

Vannington Field's game against Iraelia will be the Empire's first test, however no doubt the star attraction of the group will be the game against Callise at KreditNyhett Stadium. Vannington, in the city of Hosen Sæg, as well as Jårnbrau, in the city of Dagenfjord, each seat modest audiences for World Cup stadiums, ranging from 40 to 60 thousand. However, KreditNyhett, in the Goyanean capital of Gojannesstad- the country's largest city, seats up to 80,000- a significant uptick in capacity compared to the other two.

Other teams to watch out for are those from Goyanes itself, as well as Highton, Naizerre, and the aforementioned Callise. Goyanes, guaranteed a spot in Group A, will be playing its first game against Predice in KreditNyhett Stadium on July 10th, while soccer titans Highton and Naizerre will be playing against Ponterre and Archegnum respectively. Highton's game will be on the 11th, and Naizerre's one day later on the 12th. It remains to be seen whether the Empire will be able to stand up to such nations as a confident host country, well-oiled soccer machines, and numerous other countries also in the running, but Lions management remains confident.

IBC will be making constant updates via television, VidCast, Fluttr, and the IBC website; so stay tuned and don't miss the 2019 World Cup as it unfolds.

    The Stage is Set
    - Highton drawn into Group B
    - Blue Cocos to play Ponterre, Astragon, and Essalanea

HIGHTON CITY, NH — The Blue Cocos will begin their hunt for the coveted CEFA World Cup trophy at Hofsolm Stadium near Hofsvægr, Goyanes, on July 11th. That first opponent will be Meterran side Ponterre. Highton was also drawn in a group with Iterian side Astragon, and World Cup debutants Essalanea from Craviter. While Ponterre will provide stiff competition as one of the best teams in Meterra, neither Astragon nor Essalanea are traditional powerhouses of the beautiful game. The Hightonian team will set up base in the capital city of Gojanesstad, as Norstad Parkere will be the team's main training location. Highton are heavy favorites to advance from the group, knowing that just one lopsided win should be enough to secure at least third place, and the team will certainly be eyeing the final match against the Scarlet Horde of Essalanea as an opportunity to do so even if the Blue Cocos struggle in their opening pair of matches. In Highton's send-off match, Valamo will travel to Coco's Park for a friendly match which is already sold out. The day following the warm-up clash with the Chas Molota, the boys in blue and gold will board their Luft Highton charter jet to Goyanes, where they will have a few days to prepare for the opener.

Highton are fortunate to have been drawn into a relatively weak group, but some other pools are believed to be significantly more difficult. Group E is widely considered this year's Group of Death, with top-seeded Syrixia set to take on Iraelia, Demescia, and Callise. Which the latter and the aforementioned Syrixia are favorites to advance, the group is wide open in the sense that any of those four could realistically advance. While the hosts Goyanes are considered a very dangerous team who could make a deep run, Group A is still considered the tournament's Group of Life with Big Blue only needing to face smaller challenges in the form of Predice, Ascalon, and Xentherida. Along with Highton, Syrixia, and Goyanes, Naizerre and Prydania are favored as potential teams to take home the trophy. Prydania has always been a traditional challenger for Highton as the best team in Craviter, while Naizerre is considered the birthplace of the sport and the best team in Meterra. Saintonge and Skanda, both drawn into Group D with Prydania, are seen as two teams with Cinderella potential to advance out of the group stage and perhaps further, while Andrenne and Cojedes will also try to reap the benefits of playing close to home.

Hello, and welcome to RAP Sport. This is the Football Checkup, I am your host Mario Viggelino. We have learned that Predice will be facing Goyanes in its first World Cup Game, and the first game of the entire Cup. This will be a tough one according to head coach Guilio Pegerino, but "Hopes remain high". I am joined by Guilio today. So, how do you rate the prospects of Predice getting through the first net? "Well, I am hopeful. We're currently hoping for 1st or 2nd place in Group A" 1st or 2nd place? Isn't that a little optimistic? "Well, with a little luck we could beat both Xentherida and Ascalon. That would leave Goyanes which is a harder nut to crack." What do you think of the some 7,000 Predicean fans that have reportadely already left for Goyanes? "I love the support, and urge more people to come and watch us play." Well thank you for being with us today. This has been the Football Checkup.

    Eric's Army
    - Highton squad for 2019 World Cup announced
    - Wehr brings in 8 new players for first Cup
    - Chan excluded for youngster Havenstein

HIGHTON CITY, NH — Following the announcement of the three teams that the Blue Cocos will face in the group stage, Highton boss Eric Wehr has announced his 23 players who will represent the Crowned Republic in Goyanes this summer. All 23 members of the squad play their club football in the HPL, with a remarkable nine coming from Trier FC. National treasure Alexís will, of course, retain the captaincy, while Mario Küpfer has once again been named vice-captain. Wehr called up the youngest player in Highton's tournament history –– Arne Havenstein –– to be a part of the squad, despite being only 16 years old. The forward, who turns seventeen next month, had an outstanding breakout season in 2018/19 and was a big part of Capital FC winning the Cup Treble for the first time in their history. His performances in April and May have clearly been enough to allow him to pip Victor Chan to the final spot. Adam Guard was also cut, with the center-back losing his spot to Thomas Elsner of Trier FC, one of only two members of the squad born outside Highton. It will also be a return to Gothis for Samy Chase, the central midfielder who was born in Gotmark. While there have previously been a handful of Pontais players in the HPL, there is little footballing connection between Highton and the other two. Victor Lettman comes in for his first tournament after a stellar season at AMW-Stadion, while Trier FC's Marko Mertz will do the same. Artur Thiel, widely seen as the eventual successor to Alexís, will make the 23 but is not expected to play much after a breakout season at Capital FC. In other news, Emil Galeta is expected to play a crucial role in the middle of the defensive three, with Wehr knowing full well that we can be an adequate option in midfield. Assuming Wehr will deploy the same formation as he did during the Craviter Qualification Tournament, Highton will be playing in a very fluid 5-2-3 formation with Brown and Júnior at wingbacks.

SPORTSNET-Goyanes scheduled for first matches in Group Stage of 2019 World Cup
    Maria Allenstrøm -- July 4, 2019

The Coach of the National Team, Thor Hannan, addressing the media at a press conference Thursday morning.

GOJANNESSTAD, NYHETT- As World Cup Fever spreads across Goyanes, the drawing of the group pots revealed Goyanes' opponents in Group A. Goyanes will face Xentherida, Predice, and interestingly enough, former territory of Goyanes, Ascalon. The first match is scheduled for July 10th, in only 6 days' time, against Predice at KreditNyhett Stadium in Gojannesstad. As the opening game of the cup, it is likely to pull in major ratings for television companies.

Coach Thor Hannan was interviewed earlier today by various members of the press conference at the Team HQ in suburban Gojannesstad. "I'm very honored to have the support from fans and sponsors alike, and we are ecstatic that the Cup is going to happen on home turf this year." He continued with how he believes "we can't get too overconfident though. The real challenge lies in the days ahead. Hype is nothing if you suck."

The members of the team declined to provide an interview today, but were seen practicing at the team practice grounds in Grønmark district. Sports analysts say that Goyanes has a great shot at the cup, but will need to make it past every opponent out there. Only if Goyanes can overcome the hurdles that await them, then they can get to where they need to be.

Public officials, particularly High Warden of Gojannesstad, Kristoff Kassenrud, were very supportive of the national bid to the cup, saying that it was a "once in a lifetime opportunity," with "infinite opportunities for tourism and business." Both Grand Emperor Anthony and Prime Minister Norberg will be in attendance at the first game.

The Game will be streaming live on the GåGRK! app and live on TV on GRK1 and GRK Sport. Here is a full schedule of the group match games for Group A:

    • July 10, Goyanes vs Predice @ KreditNyhett Stadium, Gojannesstad
    • July 11, Ascalon vs Xentherida @ Rokfjord Stadium, Naderfjord
    • July 15, Ascalon vs Goyanes @ N-Elektrisk Arena, Gorlingstad
    • July 15, Xentherida vs Predice @ Vereignt (VMV) Field, Mukakstad
    • July 19, Predice vs Ascalon @ Jårnbrau Stadium, Dagenfjord
    • July 19, Goyanes vs Xentherida @ Vannington Field, Hosen Sæg

The complete schedule of all games, as well as real-time results, can be found here at this official link to the CEFA website.

The Red Devils goes to Goyanes!

    by Gérard-Hugues Barbizet in Gojanesstad
    03 July 2019 - 1255h

GOJANNESSTAD (Goyanes) – the Saintonge men’s national football team, popularly nicknamed “les Diables Rouges” (“the Red Devils”), has arrived in Goyanes to participate in the 2019 CEFA World Cup. Thousands more red-clad supporters are expected to follow in Goyanes to watch the matches.

    Uncertain advancement
Saintonge was drawn to play in Group D with Prydania, Valamo, and Skanda. Saintonge has pretty much even records against Valamo and Skanda, and so who will qualify from Group D is still up in the air.

Head Coach Frédéric Janvion is optimistic that the Red Devils are going to advance from group stage. “We’ve got a great team going on,” Mr. Janvion said. “and a lot of great supporters.” Mr. Janvion preferred to keep mum about the possible tactics the team might use, although the announced starting line-up (see below) will give a hint: a conservative strategy with strong emphasis on defence and a flexible midfield. Opponents will find it hard to go in deep into the Santonian side.

The starting lineup of the Santonians. Or so they say.

    Support
There was an outpouring of support for the team when the qualification were announced, with the government stepping in to help defray the costs of the team. The Santonian Minister of Culture and Sport, Alexandre-Stachys de Beaucroissant, and his deputy minister responsible for Sport, Brice-Cédric Charbonneau, are also in Goyanes on their own expense to support and cheer on the team. Both Mr. de Beaucroissant and Mr. Charbonneau are former footballers who played for the Santonian national team, and so their presence is a big boost to the Red Devils. Both men had also played under Mr. Janvion.

    Games
The first game for the Red Devils will be against Prydania on the 12 July at Jårnbrau Stadium. A win or a tie against Prydania – the most formidable opponent in Group D – will be seen as a promising start to getting past the group stage. But what if they lose? Timothée-Justin "T.J." Descoteaux, the team captain: “Who says we’re going to lose?”

The draw was complete. Highton now knew its path to the knockout rounds, and it would have to go through three relatively straightforward challenges– Ponterre, Astragon, and Essalanea. The HFA arranged to rent out Norstad Parkere in Gojannestad for the duration of the tournament, which will be used as Highton's primary training location and base camp. Now, the Blue Cocos had to turn their attention to preparing for the tournament.

    ––––––––––––––––––––
Coco's Park applauded at the Hightonian squad took one last lap around the stadium. The final send-off match, a home friendly against Valamo, had just concluded. A decisive Hightonian victory by a score of 3-1. The nation showed many signs of optimism that 2019 would see another deep run for Die Mannschaft. James Vard's early goal was canceled out by Valamo's Rostyslav Korhonen before half time, but a brace by second-half substitute Arne Havenstein resulted in the final scoreline. Tonight would be the final day in Highton as the squad would be boarding a chartered Luft Highton flight the next day directly to Gojannestad. It was time.

    ––––––––––––––––––––
"Obviously, we have three group stage opponents," said Wehr standing in front of several whiteboards. He pointed to the one furthest to the left, which had the flags of the three nations in Highton's group. The 23 players listened with intrigue. "Our first opponent will be Ponterre, and I expect that it will be our most formidable challenger in this stage," he said, pointing at the information about Ponterre. "Ponterre, much like us, is one of the most technically gifted teams in the world. The key difference, though, is that they have one really important weakness. What they gain in technicality, they lost in physicality. If we can keep most of the possession, they should wear out and be able to get three points from our opener. What will be key is playing well on the wing as their fullbacks are a weak spot. At center-forward, Éloi Rémy will be their biggest threat. I'm sure many of you know him well as he plays for AS Nola. Astragon and Essalanea are lesser known sides and have been more difficult to scout. Essalanea we know a little about from qualifying. Obviously, we beat them 3-0 away and 6-0 at home, but we can't sleep on them in the tournament setting. This is their first World Cup and I expect them to be fully up for it. Upsets happen every year. Both Essalanea and Astragon are physical teams. Astragon has a good front line, but I guarantee that their weakness will be in the middle of the park. I think we will likely try to overload that part of the pitch in that match. We will need to play beautiful, technically brilliant football to beat them. Our goal for the first three matches is to attain at the very least 7 out of the possible 9 points." As he continued he moved to the second whiteboard, which showed a football pitch. The players listened eagerly.

"At least to start, we will be using the same general system as we have over the past few months. Of course, we'll roll with the 5-2-3 and if necessary we can make changes throughout the tournament. The brilliance of this formation is its fluidity. In an attacking scenario, we can throw men forward in an attacking 3-4-3 or 4-3-3 while also allowing a flat 5-4-1 if we need to lock down. The most important players for this fluidity will be Galeta and both of our wingbacks. Galeta, as the sweeper you will be responsible for floating around and protecting the center-back pairing, but you should also act as a holding midfielder prepared to move into a midfield three if necessary. Jordaan and Júnior, as wingbacks you will ALWAYS be responsible for moving all the way up and down both wings. Overlapping runs and low crosses to the near post are a critical aspect of this system if we want to succeed with it. Iago and Alexís, once we get the first goal to go ahead I expect you will position yourselves less aggressively and drop further back. At times, Alexís, it may be good for you to drop in behind the front two of Iago and Vard. Depending on the opposition's formation and gameplan, you may find more space in the middle of the park than on the wing. Remember, play simple. We are one of the best teams in the world, and if we play our best game we will go far this tournament. No route one nonsense necessary, our biggest strengths are out passing and dribbling, not to mention tactical brilliance and world-class coaching!" Wehr chuckled as he said the last sentence, as the team laughed along with him. Francis Júnior had a question.

"Gaffer, in one-on-one situations wide how should the wingbacks position ourselves?" It was a completely valid question. The coach had an answer: "We have two central midfielders who are excellent one on one defenders. Because of this, as you said, I fully expect our opponents to focus their play down the wing, which only makes your job more difficult. The two midfielders should drift towards the ball, but not too far from the central third vertically speaking. If necessary, the closest CM can act as a secondary defender allowing the applicable wingback to drop further back and watch for overlapping runs. Also, whichever CB is closest can also provide support defensively, however, Galeta would then be responsible for dropping back to fill the void in the back line and act in a four at the back formation. This could work very well, or it could be a root cause of the other team scoring. We shall see." As the tactical briefing came to a close, Alexís echoed Wehr's earlier speech about team unity being key. The squad was very close-knit, which was one of its strengths. The Blue Cocos continued to prepare for Ponterre, ready to take on the world.

Ladies and gentlemen, hello from Goyanes! I am Maria De Luca. Today is the day that Predice plays Goyanes. I caught up with team captain Pietro Russo. Hello! "Hello." So let's get straight to the point. What do you think will happen this game? "I am obviously hoping for a win today. I also believe that we can win, but its too early to make predictions." So what would you like to tell your viewers at home? "We will not dissapoint you." Alright thank you. We'll be crossing our fingers for you. Today's game at 7:45PM Goyanean Time will be a tough one against Goyanes. Although a win remains possible. One of the hopeful ones who I caught up with is Member of the Chamber of Deputies Marco Rizzo. Hello! "Hello!" So I certainly didn't expect seeing a Member of the Chamber of Deputies here, what made you come? "Well, I am a big fan of football, and I want to support our team." Is this your first time in Goyanes? "Yes." Most importantly, do you believe that the Golden Eagles can win? "Hell yeah!" Thank you, and enjoy the game! "My pleasure"

SPORTSNET-Goyanes ties Predice; prepares for Colonial Matchup versus Ascalon
    Kristofer van Hessdam -- July 10, 2019

The Coach of the National Team, Thor Hannan, was visibly disappointed at the second-half performance of the Goyanean team.

GOJANNESSTAD, NYHETT- The Goyanean team tied its opponent, Predice, 3 to 3 at the first game of the cup. While Nyberg and Admusson were both able to score in the first half, Predice ran up three points against Big Blue, leaving a tense final goal scored by backup striker Odd Opland in the last minutes of the game to tie it up.

Coach Hannan, in the post-game press conference, stated that "we need to step up our game. We can't give up. We have to keep on chopping so that we can go far this year. Hype is nothing."

Captain Admusson told GRK Sportsnet that he "knew everybody could have worked harder," but that "everyone still gave it their all." The team will continue practicing leading up to the next game against Ascalon on July 15, at N-Elektrisk Arena in Gorlingstad, NY.

As always, you can stay updated on www.grk.gj/sportsnet, and games will be streaming live on GåGRK, GRK1 and GRKSport. The complete schedule of all games, as well as real-time results, can be found here at this
official link to the CEFA website.

    ROUTINE WIN FOR BLUE COCOS
    [IMG]
Franz Müller played a key part in the victory
    Vincent Küpfer –– 11 July 2019

HOFSVÆGR, OS, GOYANES –– The Blue Cocos opened their 2019 CEFA World Cup campaign with a routine 3-0 victory over Meterran side Ponterre. Les Lynx are considered one of the better teams in Meterra, but a pair of early goals from Highton, coming from Fernando Rossi and Franz Müller, set the tone. After leading his team out to the CEFA anthem, which was followed by the national anthems of the two countries, Alexís was gifted an early chance when he earned a free-kick just outside the box. The shot skimmed the top of the crossbar, but it began an early stage of dominance for his side. The opener came before the ten-minute mark, with Alexís dribbling past a pair of Ponterrean defenders before cutting the ball back to the edge of the area for an onrushing Rossi. Franz Müller doubled the tally, striking a low, deflected ball into the bottom left corner in the 18th minute. In the first half as a whole, Highton had 64% possession. Early in the second half, both Alexís and James Vard were substituted for two younger players in their first World Cup, Arne Havenstein and Arthur Thiel. For most of the second period, Highton sat back, inviting pressure, but Ponterre could barely get 3 shots on target. Thiel earned a free-kick from about 25 yards out in the 84th minute; Emil Galeta hammered the shot straight into the wall, but a poor clearance by the defender allowed Havenstein to head home for his first World Cup goal. Havenstein's goal makes him the first Shaddaist player to ever score a World Cup goal for Highton. Galeta's performance in the center of the backline stood out in particular, with Rossi also making a notable contribution in midfield, however, Franz Müller was awarded man of the match for his excellent box-to-box play style. The win sets the Blue Cocos on course to advance to the Round of 16, provided they do not fall flat on their face in the final two group games. This seems unlikely, considering the most difficult task is now out of the way, they will still have to be aware of potentially dangerous opponents in Astragon and Essalanea to avoid an upset. In other news, Essalanea stunned Astragon 1-0 with a late winner coming from their only shot on goal. Highton's next match will be against Astragon, while Essalanea will take on Ponterre. Highton will face their continental rivals in the final group match on the 19th.

Excitement Ahead Of Mac Rebenac's World Debut

Largely considered the biggest snub off the Lancerian roster at last year's tournament, Mac Rebenac will finally be making his debut on the world stage. The 22-year-old rising star from Taponier played it cool at today's press conference ahead of tomorrow's match.

"I'm honoured to be here and be given the chance to represent our country in front of millions," he said. "Even the chance to smash expectations and go far is more than I ever dreamed of."

Hopes are high at home for this year's squad and players like Rebenac are leading them into the spotlight. Tomorrow's match will air on all major sports stations in the Empire and the results will be covered here in the next issue of L'Informateur.

Hello, I am Maria De Luca with RAP Sport from Goyanes. I have caught up with our old friend, Marco Rizzo, MCD for Nuevo Antofagosta. Hello! "Hello" So as you saw Predice made an astonishing comeback during the second half of the game, what do you think about the Golden Eagles' performance? "It was great, shame they didn't manage to hold back that last Goyanean goal though." Do you think Predice'll beat Xentherida though? "Oh yeah, if we could do that with Goyanes then we can beat Xentherida" That's the spirit. So we saw that you and a few other Predicean fans were holding a massive Predicean flag, who brought that? "I did, I bought it from a souvenier store back home." Thank you for talking to us. "My pleasure." Watch the Upcoming Predice-Xentherida Game live from RAP 1, RAP 2, RAP Sport, and RAP.pe. Predice's first game of the World Cup has been played. Let's recount.

The Game started terribly for Predice, at 12:30 Goyanes got its first goal against Predice. Spirits were already staring to waver, but not even 5 minutes later at 16:27 Goyanes scored Goal 2. The rest of half one had placed Predice firmly on the defensive. Half 2 was much better with Predice, however. Predice managed to get its first goal at 62nd minute, then tied it up at the 79th.
Finally with 5 minutes left in the game, Predice went ahead with 3-2
At the 93rd minute, stoppage time Goyanes managed to strike a tying goal.

So, what went right and what went wrong?
Predice was too defensive during the first half.
The Golden Eagles were too defensive during the first half which didn't even pay off. Goyanes struck 2 goals.
Predice picked itself up during the second half and went into the lead.
The Golden Eagles managed to make a comeback largely thanks to striker Marco Ricci, who scored the first 2 goals for Predice. The Golden Eagles were far more agressive during the second half, forcing Goyanes to defend.
Predice Didn't manage to keep its lead up.
The Golden Eagles didn't manage to stop the Goyanean tying goal, and went back onto the defensive.
    Good substitutions
Good choices were made in the substitutions, which allowed Predice to go into the lead.

    What now?
Predice will play Xentherida next, which will undoubtedly be a hard match, but this match bodes well for Predice's future in the World Cup. Should Predice win that match, it would rise to be leaders in Group A. Predice still has to win that game though, which as we said will be a tough one. After Xentherida, Predice'll play Ascalon, which just tied Xentherida, so a potentially tough game as well. Whatever the case may be, Predice still has a long road to go.

Last Minute Injury Worries Lancerian Fans
    Armand Gauthier
    July 13th

Star goalkeeper Marsilius Bordeleau suffered some sort of injury at a final practice before tonight's game. Word is not yet out on whether it's a serious injury or something that won't delay his appearance at games later this week.

Bordeleau successfully led the Lancerian team deeper than expected in last year's tournament and was hoping to repeat a similar performance this campaign. His abilities bailed out the Lancerian team on more than one occasion and Coach Royden Dupéré called it an inspiring goaltending achievement at the conclusion of last year's tournament.

Bordeleau has somewhat of a history of lower body injuries with some taking him out of play for as much as half a season. Despite being regarded as the best Lancerian goalie available, these injuries cost him in his last club contract negotiations. Many think Bordeleau's performance is critical to Lancerian success at the World Cup. Coach Dupéré refused to comment as multiple sources reached out to question the extent of the injury.

The door, then, is open for backup goaltender Alfred Grenier to seize the opportunity and reclaim some of the limelight.

Grenier is a veteran of previous club championships and the tender once the undisputed best in Lanceria is now considered by many to be past his prime. It's widely thought that Coach Dupéré has a soft spot for the tender in the twilight of his career but it is also true that his experience and calm demeanor in locker room is awell-known and valuable contribution to the team. Grenier still showed flashes of his former self over the past two seasons and the team is hopeful he can find that form again.

All fans can do, is wait and tune in tonight.

A child stood at the window of an electronics shop, staring at a TV beyond, eyes glued to the screen.

"...and in Chasseurs Square preparations are well underway. Large screens have been set up, banners hung, and energy in the air ahead of Lanceria's first game at the World Cup tonight. The local businesses are expecting a busy night at restaurants pubs and bars as the Lancerian squad prepares to take the field later tonight.

The crowd is expected to exceed the numbers seen at last year's square parties with growing excitement for the sport and the tournament. Chief of Police Hayden Larameux was asked if she had any concerns over a large rowdy crowd. While she noted that security preparations are in place, she also pointed to the success of celebrations and viewing parties last year as an example for this year's fans.

In any event, the stage is set, and we'll be live here tonight with coverage of the game and the crowd. Back to you in the newsroom..."

The child burst into energy and sprinted off towards home.

    Patriotism Running Rampant in Andrenne
This is possibly one of the most patriotic days in Andrenne this year aside from Victory Day, and that's saying something. This patriotism seems to be present all across the country, from the most rural villages in the Southern Vanniri Highlands to the bustling capital of Mitta, there's not a single fellow Andrennian I've talked to that hasn't been excited for the World Cup. Face paint, scarves, fake viking helmets, flags, and jerseys galore, the national colors of red, white, and blue are rarely this prevalent in day to day life here in Andrenne. Football fans don't have to travel far luckily, as the games are only in Goyanes which isn't that expensive to fly to from one of the three international airports. There's even a plan to sing the anthem before the game starts, before the anthem is officially even done, and that's surprisingly coordinated for football hooligans.

Today and in the following weeks, Andrennians will go abroad and huddle around TVs to watch the national team go head to head with Ulstome, Lanceria, and Guslantis. "But why are we all so patriotic all of a sudden?" foreigners may be asking. It's quite simple: it's not hockey season, which means we're all playing and watching our second favorite sport, football. It's pretty cold here in Andrenne if somehow you didn't know that, so we really savor our chance to play and watch summer sports in the short summers we have. On top of that, we get patriotic over anything like this. Any time Andrenne is involved in an international sport, this kind of thing happens. It just really amps up when it's a popular sport like hockey or football. Make sure you practice your Andrennian football chants, don your fake viking helmet, throw a scarf and jersey on, and paint your face with the Andrennian national colors these next few weeks as the World Cup progresses.

Cojedan Broadcasting Corporation World Cup Report:

It was a sad day in Goyanes as "The Striking Cojedans" lost their first match in the CEFA World Cup. In the first match for the Cojedan team, we were pitted against Ceretis and played at VMV Field. After the total game time, the Cojedans lost 1-0. It was a striking blow to the Cojedan team and to the fans of the team watching in the stadium and here at home. After the match, we spoke with team Coach Armando Rubio who had the following to say: "It was definitely a surprising loss. We went out there and played the best game that we could to start out and it just wasn't good enough. I think I speak for the whole team when I say that we are disappointed in what occurred. We have been going over strategies ever since and we will be ready to play our hardest in our next match against Naizerre." We also caught up with Captain Valentino Carbonara who said, "The team just wasn't ourselves out there. We played a hard game, but not as hard as we normally do. We will definitely have to regroup and get our focus right. We are very excited and ready for the next game. The whole team is so happy to be here in Goyanes to represent our country and we are very excited for what lies ahead. We will deliver the best we can for the rest of our journey here." The Cojedan team will play again on the 16th at Hansson Stadium and will complete the Group Stage at Jårnbrau Stadium on the 20th of July. We will continue to bring updates for the team and the cup. Stay tuned to CBC for all the latest news on the Striking Cojedans.

Exclusive Interview with Essalanean Coach Enrico De Goldi
    [IMG]

Enrico De Goldi is by all accounts a man you either love or love to hate, blunt, vulgar and curmudgeon at the best of times this ageing Predicean club battler has been a source of fascination and controversy for nearly three decades. He retired in 2017 following a long career in his homeland coaching teams big and small alike, this proved short-lived however as the 75-year-old signed an exclusive contract with Essalanean Coal to champion the new state-sponsored national team.

Today following the new Essalanean team's first-ever world cup victory against Astragon, GNN has been granted an exclusive no holds barred interview with the coach in which we ask who he is, why he's here and what his plans are for Essalanea.

Mr De Goldi, you've been retired for two years, why come back now?
    Boredom

Predicean tabloids used to refer to you as the 'grumpiest man in football' is that true
couldn't give a continental, either way, I'm 75, a father to five girls and a grandfather to nine more children, I didn't have time for stupid tabloid labels when I was raising my kids and I don't have time for their bullshit in my dotage either.

You could have coached any team with your impressive career history, why choose a team from a nation more known for its wild animals then football players?
I like a Challenge, captaining Essalanea provided me with the opportunity to do something truly unique, also the contract I was offered was sufficiently lucrative to get me off my ass and out of the villa

Some people have called your coaching style aggressive and even outright belligerent, rumours have spread that you punched a player during a pre-game training session, how do you respond?
I get results, the critics can whine all they like, I'm the one coaching and so I call the shots, as for that little shit, yes I punched him in the face, these are clan players we are talking about, they need to know I'm the boss

Errr...your recent win over Astragon has been received with mass enthusiasm by the formerly disinterested nation of Essalanea, what are your thoughts on the match
Astragon played well, they played aggressively, they also made the same blunder they have made for years, they left their midfield open to attack and we capitalised upon it. As for celebrations back in Essalanea, well let's hope this is the first victory of many

Striker Hilde Karg scored the only goal of the match, has there been any major challenges in playing with a mixed team of men and women?
The clans take anyone who can kick a ball and don't give two shits if you have a cock or not if they don't care why should I? I'm paid to coach not debate gender politics, next question.

Errrmmm, Ok sure, what are your plans for the next match, what do you hope for Essalanea's world cup campaign
We are going to play the game that has proven effective, no side will be underestimated, our mix of feints, midfield agitation and rapid attacks on our opponent's goals will be key to any future matches. We know we are the new kid on the block, that doesn't mean we won't bloody a few old boys noses.

Well there you have it folks, Enrico De Goldi, possibly the grumpiest man in the beautiful game, also likely the perfect man to coach the clans.

THE ALPHA LION REVEALED: EMPIRE TROUNCES IRAELIA
    by Prakash Patel in Pataliputra
    July 13, 2000

Rohan Sharma speaking at a press conference after the game.

HOSEN SÆG, GOYANES - Following the highly-anticipated World Cup opener against Iraelia, our Lions came out victorious, smoking Iraelia's Sapphire Lions 2-0. "I'm incredibly proud of our Lions today." Head Coach Suresh Reddy noted in a press conference today. "We did the Empire proud, we did the people proud, and we're hoping that, Prajapati's grace willing, we will continue to do so and realize the dream we've all been waiting so long for; and we will do it with the same grace and inner strength that continues to change our game for the better." he continued, referencing his infamous and enigmatic new play strategy.

One fan in the crowd yelled loudly, "FOOTBALL'S GOING GOLD!", followed by many more. The slogan, which has widely been associated with Imperial efforts to finally take home a World Cup, has not only spread rapidly throughout the social media world- spawning a tsunami of memes- but has pushed its way into the mainstream. Though, thanks to the famous sports song Gold Lion, it has often been an unofficial rallying cry for Imperial fans, with the official team motto still being "Chalo Laat Maro", or "Let's Kick It!", this time, however, it comes equipped with new fervor, as the Lions brand has actively embraced the phrase. Should the Empire continue its journey upward in the Cup, the chants may get louder and louder.

By the end of the game's first half, the score was 1-0, with forward Jakub Brzęczek scoring the game-winning goal. For the next 43 minutes, the Lions fought fiercely to hold their lead, until in the last minute of the game, forward and star team captain Rohan Sharma shocked the world with another goal, briefly propelling the commentators into a stunned silence whilst Lions fans in the stands stood up and jumped for joy. At the press conference, when asked on his thoughts about the Cup so far, Sharma reflected, "I feel great. I'm not tired or stressed. There is a wave of...collected determination over our team, with our eyes focused on one thing, the World Cup."

Sharma continued, chuckling, "Mark my words if anyone's- football is going gold."

KALETY SHOCKS EMPIRE AND FANS ALIKE, GIVING BLANK CHECK TO IMPERIAL NETWORKS
    by Prakash Patel in Pataliputra
    July 14, 2000

KALETY, SYRIXIAN EMPIRE – Following the 2-0 Lions victory against Iraelia in the Empire's World Cup opener yesterday, the Rada Mayoralności of Kalety has declared what many in Imperial politics are calling a groundbreaking decision- the Free City of Kalety, one of two Imperial Autonomous Regions, will be issuing Imperial television networks what amounts to a blank check to broadcast the 2000 World Cup on the island.

Normally reclusive in many departments as it regards to the greater Imperial media, Kalety stands in stark contrast to the Truong Autonomous Region, which has allowed IBC, GBK, and other networks to operate within its borders for decades. Kaleta authorities have generally preferred to allow Kaleta media outlets greater mobility, a pro-domestic business ideology that has thrived politically on an island infamously protective of its people and local culture.

Congress quickly passed Declaratory Act 242, commending the Rada Mayoralności for its decision, praising it as a patriotic move and a step towards bringing Imperials of all ethnicities together. When asked for comment at a press conference, Grand Prince Antoni Dobrowski had the following to say: "I'm happy to see the bill pass. Kalety should be able to see its own son face off against the world- of course along with his fellow team members- in as many ways as possible."

This quotation, along with other hints from the Rada Mayoralności, has been widely speculated to divulge the real reason behind why Kalety has decided to allow greater Imperial networks in for the event- forward Jakub Brzęczek- the sole player of Kaleta descent on this Lions team and the first one since 1992.

Brzęczek has shown himself to be a strong player and one of the more well-known members of the Imperial team, alongside the likes of Imperial treasure Rohan Sharma, ace goalkeep Avinash Shinde, midfielder Sasalak Sukjitthammakul- known often simply as Sasalak, and fellow forwards Amit Pawar and Gurpreet Singh. When asked earlier today about the Rada's decision, Brzęczek replied, "It's an exciting development. I think it shows that the Kaleta nation is behind me and behind all of us on the team."

SPORTSNET-Gorlingstad swarming with energy ahead of the Transocean Classic between Goyanes and Ascalon
    Thor Andreasson -- July 14, 2019

Crowds of fans wearing Goyanean jerseys were seen disembarking at various train stations around Gorlingstad.

GORLINGSTAD, NYHETT- With less than 24 hours remaining until the Transocean Classic, swarms of Goyanean soccer fans have been swarming to Gorlingstad, the city renowned for its industrial prowess at the turn of the 20th Century. Located only about an hour to two hours by train from Gojannesstad, or 30 minutes by shuttle flight, the city is being swamped by fans ready to see Big Blue in action.

Coach Hannan commented that "we're feeling much better about this match. We're better prepared now, and we're going to start on the right foot, so we can get a lead and keep a lead." Team captain Admusson commented to GRK Sportsnet that he was "feeling really good about this game," and that "the group stage is still important, even if it's the beginning."

Big Blue was seen practicing at the training center at Nyhett Tech's campus about 30 minutes north of Gorlingstad today morning after the usual team mass.

GRKSport live analyst Jorgen Adamsson commented that "if Big Blue wants to take the cup this year, they're going to have to step it up and not rely so much on the home field advantage." We'll see if Big Blue can make it this year tomorrow in Gorlingstad.

As always, you can stay updated on www.grk.gj/sportsnet, and games will be streaming live on GåGRK, GRK1 and GRKSport. The complete schedule of all games, as well as real-time results, can be found here at this
official link to the CEFA website.

Where to watch the Transocean Classic in Gojannesstad
    Mika Normeyer -- July 14, 2019

GORLINGSTAD, NYHETT- Everyone in Goyanes is on edge for tomorrow's Transocean Classic match, but if you live in the big GS you can come watch Big Blue on the big screen [ha--get it] with your friends and family. Inside the walls, there are several screens set up at Nimrøyke Park. On 59-Strasse and Hl. Johan Bane there's a large screen, as well as at 86-Strasse and Danneg IV-Bane. There's also a big screen located at Madreberg Park on the 42-Strasse side. Inside Gojannesstad Stortoghass there will be a screen set up in the Vanderfjerg Concourse on the north end of the station. Of course, you can also watch the game on the big advertising screens at Johannes IX-plats, but that is expected to be the most crowded location of them all.

Outside the walls, there's screens set up at Densmerke Park, Danau Park, Kvillingsberger Park, Van Ragnar Park, and Indunstad Park. U-Baner trains to these locations are expected to be busy, so plan to lead with ample time. If this is all too much, you could always just watch from home, but there's no fun in that, right?

If you want to have some food or drink while watching the game, there's ample food and drink at pubs and restaurants, and many are offering specials for the big game. Some notable specials are at Ascalon's Finest, their food halls are offering food and drink at half price during the game at both locations (inside Norr, Slk. Tower and on the corner of Renkvist Bane and Danneg IV-Bane). Restaurants on Johannes IX-plats will also be offering specials, and the bar scene at Sør Gorlingstadstrasse will be fun as well.

Gojannesstad- Jårnbrau Stadium witnessed quite a spirited affair as the Prydanian and Santonian national teams squared off to kick to kick off the Group D action in the 2019 CEFA World Cup. The opening bought left both teams with two players injured. The Santonians lost defender Robert-Philippe de Vergennes and midfielder Jonathan Jeandupeux while the Ríkilandsliðið saw defenders Storm Bendixen and Germund Greve go down. Their status remains "undetermined" for now with Manager Jakob Høj refusing to comment further.

The injuries to both sides exemplify how this Prydanian team was built and will play.
"We came out aggressive" team captain Peter Bach stated after the game, wearing a grey sports jacket, pink polo shirt, and distressed jeans. The captain, known for his fiery and eccentric personality, didn't sugarcoat the pace of the game.
"It was rough. We played aggressive because that's how we are. That's how we grew up and survived, and that's how we play. The Santonians earned their 'devil' nickname, they gave it right back, but we pulled it out."

Bach opened the scoring in the 21st minute off a pass from midfielder and partner in crime Ernst Beck. The Beck-Back connection dazzled opponents in the qualifiers, proving too much for the SRFD and Malor-Kanadian teams to handle. It was no different here as Beck set Bach up for the contest's first goal.

"This is the World Cup, leave nothing on the table" Beck replied when asked about the Prydanian team's dominant play. Still, the Santonians wouldn't be denied and evened things 1-1 off of a Kévin-Ardouin Cremillieux goal that got passed goalkeeper Tom Høyer.

Kurt Mørch put Prydania ahead on a penalty kick in the 58th minute, at which point the match grew tense. The Santonians stifled the Prydanian attack until injuries and penalties piled up for the Red Devils, resulting in Kristoffer Krog getting the insurance goal in the 86th minute.

"We take nothing away from them" Peter Bach replied.
"They pressed us when we pressed them. When you get to this level every team is elite and they proved it. We won though, because we've been through hell. We know how to stand the heat."

Prydania plays Valamo next at Rynoven-Radisson Arena. The Commune of Valamo collapsed under the weight of a successful coup, putting the Valamo team in a very unique position at the start of the tournament. How this will effect the match- and all of Group D- remains to be seen.

"Prydanian team captain Peter Bach spoke with RÚV sideline reporter Anette Leth during preparations for their game against Group D opponent Valamo."

Anette Leth is standing with team captain Peter Bach.

"Congratulations on your victory over Saintonge."

    Bach nods.

    "Thank you Anette."

"Looking forward, how is the Ríkilandsliðið going to prepare for Valamo, especially given the recent coup there that toppled the Commune government?"

Bach takes off his sunglasses and looks wide eyed into the camera, his black t-shirt that says "Prydansk Draumur" [Prydanian Dream] fully visible.

"Valamo? Well a coup back home changes the game doesn't it? I'm sure everyone was WAITING to see what WE would say about the team representing the government that helped fund those gutless Syndicalist bastards. Wouldn't that have been something, eh Anette?"

Anette looks a bit shocked but nods.

"Yeah that would have been Peter..."

    Bach keeps on going.

"Here's the thing though. We know all about that. Our team was forged from boys who grew up playing in WAR ZONES! It made us men, and now...." chuckles "now we're here to prove to everyone why you should never count Prydania out! But we know now that some of that same passion, that same drive if you will, is flowing through the blood of the Valamo team because THEY want to represent their home! Prove that despite all of that hardship back there? They're a team and people not to be underestimated. We get it Anette! And we're going to meet them on the pitch! We'll see if they have what it takes to keep swimming once you get out into the deep waters."

Saintonge loses to Prydania in a physical, confrontational game

Robert-Philippe de Vergennes suffered an injury during yesterday's game

    by Gérard-Hugues Barbizet in Dagenfjord
    13 July 2019 - 0812h

DAGENFJORD (Goyanes) – the Red Devils lost to the Realm Team, 3-1, in a brutal game characterised by physicality, injuries, and confrontations. Two Santonian players went out due to injury along with two Prydanian players, and the Red Devils were forced to play one man down after the team captain was ejected from the game in the second half.

    Uneventful, even first half
The first half of the game was a typical football game, with nary an indication of the troubled second half. The Prydanians were the first to score, at the 21st minute, when Prydanian team captain Peter Bach converted an Ernst Beck crosser into a goal. The Santonians equalised on the 39th minute, thanks to a header by Kévin-Ardouin Cremillieux. The first half ended with an even 1-1 score.

    Troubled second half
The second half started to show signs of trouble when Bach aggressively crashed into Robert-Philippe de Vergennes on the 49th minute, resulting in an injury. De Vergennes had to be brought out of the field on a stretcher; later his injury was revealed to be a right anterior cruciate ligament tear. Bach was handed a yellow card.

Substituting for De Vergennes was Florian Blaquart. On the 58th minute, Blaquart crashed into Kurt Mørch, for which Blaquart was given a yellow card and a penalty kick was awarded to Prydania. Blaquart and the team captain, Timothée-Justin "T.J." Descoteaux, protested to the referee, to no avail. Descoteaux, known for his angry tirades and fiery temper, was then also given a yellow card for “dissent by word or action”.

That penalty kick was the Prydanian second goal, curled by Mørch into the top left corner on the 58th minute. The next sixteen minutes were tense, as the level of aggression and tension escalated. Blaquart and fellow defenders Charles-Adam Witz and Albéric Barreau continued to deny the Prydanians an opening at the back, as the Prydanians continued to have possession during most of that time.

Winger Jonathan Jeandupeux managed to steal the ball from Benny Nygaard on the 74th minute, speedily bringing to ball to the Prydanian half. During an attempt to pass the ball to Cremillieux, Storm Bendixen collided with Jeandupeux, resulting in another injury. Coach Frédéric Janvion substituted the injured Jeandupeux with Wallerand d'Oxelaëre, but by now, both Janvion and Descoteaux was arguing with the referee, insisting that Bendixen handed a penalty. The visibly angry Descoteaux nearly hit the referee, but was prevented from doing so by Janvion and Maximilien Laclède. Descoteaux was shown the red card, and was ejected from the game.

The Santonians, a man down, surprisingly continued to hold back the Prydanians until the 86th minute. Pressing their numerical advantage, Prydania’s Kristoffer Krog exploited a hole in the midfield defence for a long goal that was nearly held off by Bruno-Patrice Cuisance.

    Result
The result pushed Saintonge to the bottom of Group D, needing wins against Skanda on 16 July and against Valamo on 20 July in order to have a chance to move past the group stage.

Archbishop: Why are you invoking Satan?

    by Anne-Françoise Delaunay in Embrun
    13 July 2019 - 1044h

EMBRUN (Trieux) – the outspoken conservative Archbishop of Embrun, Pierre-Paul Payette, yesterday railed about the cheers of the scores of red-clad supporters of the Santonian national football team. The supporters of the national team were watching the Prydania-Saintonge game yesterday at the Cathedral Square in Embrun where the local government organised a public viewing of the game.

Into the 25th minute, the visibly distressed 76-year old archbishop went out to the square to confront some supporters, which was captured on video and uploaded on the internet. Archbishop Payette was berating some of the supporters: “Why are you invoking Satan? Why are you cheering for Satan?”

Saintonge’s national football team is nicknamed “les Diables Rouges” or “the Red Devils”. Throughout the country, cheers like “Allez les diables!” or “Vive les diables!” were being chanted during the game, and it seems that the archbishop got wind of it right outside the archepiscopal palace in Embrun. When a well-meaning parishioner went to the archbishop to explain that the nickname of the national team is “les Diables Rouges” and that they were referring to them rather than to Satan himself, the archbishop answered, “Why are you calling these fine men ‘devils’? They’re doing good for the country! You call them angels!”

And so, in Embrun that day, “les Diables Rouges” became “les Anges Rouges”. Meanwhile, hours before, in Bicêtre (Saine-et-Loine), Bishop Marc-Jérôme de Montgolfier presided over Mass for the national team. Bishop de Montgolfier, a former youth footballer before entering priesthood, exclaimed during Mass, “Vive les Diables Rouges!”, much to the applause of his parishioners.

“It’s not over”: Saintonge react to the surprise big loss

    by Daniel Damme in Saintes
    13 July 2019 - 1220h

SAINTES – the Santonian national football team sustained a big 3-1 loss to Prydania last Friday (12 July), and suffered two injuries and had their team captain ejected from the game.

    Well-wishes for the injured
The team and the fans sent well-wishes to the team’s two injured players Robert-Philippe de Vergennes and Jonathan Jeandupeux.

De Vergennes sustained an anterior cruciate ligament tear, while Jeandupeaux sustained a concussion. Both are most likely not going to present in Saintonge’s match against Skanda on 16 July. In addition, De Vergennes’ injury may be “career-ending” according to some analysts.

    Team captain temporarily replaced
Another player probably not playing against Skanda is team captain Timothée-Justin "T.J." Descoteaux. Descoteaux was ejected from last Friday’s game against Prydania, and the Red Devils’ coach Frédéric Janvion opted to leave out Descoteaux from the starting line-up as “we still are not sure whether any subsequent disciplinary action or future game suspensions will be taken against T.J. – we need to plan and practice with a lineup that we’re sure will be admissible.”

Both Janvion and Descoteaux stressed that leaving out Descoteaux from the starting line-up was a decision both agreed with. Janvion did not even blame Descoteaux for the loss, with the coach stating that “the match was refereed badly.”

Replacing Descoteaux in the midfield will be Jean-Raoul "Bobby" Bobichon, who will join Alan-Childéric Goff, Jérôme-Thibault Jasseron, and Jeandupeaux’s replacement Wallerand d'Oxelaëre. Florian Blaquart will take the place of de Vergennes at the back. The acting team captain will be Jasseron, Descoteaux’ protégé with a famously opposite demeanour as Descoteaux.

    Mixed reactions to the captain
The actions of the team captain Descoteaux received a mixed reaction in Saintonge. On one hand, fans appreciated Descoteaux for standing up to his team during the game; others blamed him for the lopsided loss or criticised his ‘un-sportsmanly’ conduct. Descoteaux defended himself yesterday, saying that, “My teammates are like my brothers. If ever I see my brothers getting beat up, you’ll be sure I’m going to come right after the bullies.”

What Saintonge was united in, though, was in the sentiment as to how badly the game was refereed.

    Rallying support
The other members of the team and their fans rallied for support. “It’s not yet over!” posted Matthieu-Donatien Kerbriant on Twitcher.

Deputy Minister for Sport Brice-Cédric Charbonneau, also a former les Diables Rouges player, had this patriotic call:

(“Santonians! Saintonge has lost a battle. But Saintonge has not lost the war!
    Go Red Devils!”)

Interview with Jorgen Admusson ahead of the Transocean Classic
    July 15, 2019
    Madeline Knauss

Gorlingstad is running wild today ahead of the Transocean Classic between Goyanes and Ascalon, here in our very own N-Elektrisk stadium in Gorlingstad. Big Blue faces a tough Ascalonian team this year, which managed to tie Xentherida earlier last week. Gorlingstad's Alexanderplats station was packed today, and Gojan Jårnbaner reported that every Høyhastikettog train to Gorlingstad from Gojannesstad was fully booked, leaving some to have to take conventional rail across the South Nyhett Plains from the nation's capital.

Here is our exclusive interview with team captain Jorgen Admusson:

M: So Jorgen, how do you feel about today's game?
J: I'm feeling good. We've been practicing, and we're going to give it our a-game.
M: Ascalon managed to tie Xentherida, does this have an impact on you guys as a team?
J: We haven't been allowing negative thoughts to get into our heads. We went to mass yesterday as a team, as we always do on Sundays, and we made sure that we'd be in the right mental spot for today.
M: Good, so how does the team plan to change it up, especially since all teams have tied in the A group?
J: We have a new offensive strategy, which you'll see at the game, but we won't say anything for now.
M: Thank you and go Big Blue!
J: No problem, and we hope that tonight will be a crowd pleaser.
