As my professor in Political Science said: "As long as there are humans, there is politics". Very true. We just welcomed a new year, 2019, and fortunately enough, we humans still exist and no apocalyptic event with an impact of 100% chance of extinction to humans happened in the past year. So what do I mean? I meant that Politics lives on! (Yehey :3).

With that I say that this year will be an exciting year for politics around the world as we anticipate game-changing political events bound to, or that may happen this 2019.

Two Korean Leaders eager to meet each other again
North Korean leader Kim Kong-Un has sent a letter to South Korean President Moon Jae-In telling the latter that he regrets not coming to Seoul (SoKors capital) in 2018 and that this year, he would visit. President Moon responded saying that he welcomes Kim and that he is looking forward to another meeting. This is a good sign of the improving relations of the two countries and, we must commend North Korean leader Kim for this positive diplomatic initiative. Although there are many more things to be done in order for the two Koreas to become one, this exchange of diplomatic interest is another step in that journey. We just hope that the destination will be reached.

Philippine Mid-term elections
This is a crucial year for the Duterte Administration as positions in the Senate and the House of Representatives will be open for both opposition candidates, and to the candidates who are very close allies with President Duterte which we will just call in this essay "Acquaintance candidates" for easier identification.

What do I mean? In this election, we shall see the Filipino people's satisfaction with the Duterte Administration through the votes that either the "Acquaintance" or the opposition candidates will get. If the majority candidates will dominate the polls, it means that the populace still has their hearts turned to President Duterte because the majority candidates are very close allies with President Duterte and in the Filipino political context now, if you are an ally of President Duterte, you are also liked by Duterte's supporters. On the other hand if the Opposition candidates dominate the polls, then it only means that the populace wants change to happen.

Some government positions also up for grabs are Governors, Mayors and Municipal Councilors.

US partial Government shut-down and the fate of Trump's wall
Several Departments in the United States Government have shut down following an issue on funding US President Donald Trump's border wall. This came as the Democrats dominated the Mid-Term election polls last year (2018) meaning, another obstruction for Trump's ambition of building a border wall in the Mexico-US border. President Trump said that if the Democrats does not provide sufficient funding for the construction of the border wall, the shutdown would remain.

However, the Democrats are preparing their game plan as they take control of the Congress and one of that is denying the border wall funds.

The question remains, will President Trump be able to fulfill his promise of a border wall that would be the catalyst for the United States' immigration woes? Now that the Democrats have control of the Congress, thing will just get even more interesting.

Brexit

This major British political turmoil continuous into 2019 as the United Kingdom pushes for separation from the European Union (EU). Although UK Prime Minister Theresa May fully sides for the separation, there still remains a dissent among the people against this exit. There is more to this as the issue of Brexit exposes a lot of turmoil within politics in the United Kingdom. Will this be the year that the United Kingdom be truly "United" in this issue, or will this be the beginning (if not in the midst already) of the division and falter of The United Kingdom.
