Chief Election Commissioner Elections

I just realized we're overdue for another round of this, in addition to some data loss that seems to suggest that we didn't vote last time...??? (It's always supposed to be after the General Election, Sil!)

I am opening up declarations of interest to serve as CEC for a four-month term (ending January 31st). If you are interested in serving, please declare your intention in the next three days, and a vote will follow.

I am willing to serve again. It's tradition at this point.

It's been three days and no one else has expressed interest. We'll move on to a confirmation vote. Please vote Aye, Nay, or Abstain on electing @Sil Dorsett as the Chief Election Commissioner for a term ending on January 31st, 2025. The vote will last for three days, or until all Election Commissioners have voted.

Abstain.

All commissioners have voted. Clerical error... Lord Dominator wasn't on the government registry, thus I wrongly thought all Commissioners had voted. However, time has also elapsed and the result is clear.

The results of the vote are as follows:

Aye - 7
Nay - 0
Abstain - 1
Not voting - 1

With a majority of the Election Commission in favour, @Sil Dorsett will serve as Chief Election Commissioner until January 31st, 2025.

As the current CEC term has ended, declarations of interest to serve as CEC for a four-month term (ending May 31st) are now open. If you are interested in serving, please declare your intention in the next three days, and a vote will follow.

Pallaith is the only volunteer this time around. We'll move on to a confirmation vote. Please vote Aye, Nay, or Abstain on electing @Pallaith as the Chief Election Commissioner for a term ending on May 31st, 2025. The vote will last for three days, or until all Election Commissioners have voted.

The 3 day voting period has ended. With a vote of 5 Aye, 0 Nay, 1 abstain (2 not voting), Pallaith is elected as Chief Election Commissioner until May 31st, 2025.
(Lord Dominator's vote was discarded as their EC term ended prior to voting)

My term as the chief commissioner ends on May 31. While I am willing to keep going, I would like to open the floor to anyone else who wishes to volunteer for this duty. As is tradition, I will give it three days before we initiate the vote. As is also tradition, I suggest we continue to set this term for four months, to end on September 30.

I have no qualms with Pallaith continuing, but if anyone else does wish to put themselves forward I say go for it.

If people would not be opposed to me running, I would be willing to put myself forwards after some consideration about potential time commitments. But I would also defer to anyone more experienced or eager than myself.

The EC has a proud tradition of rotating the chief position. It's also not as intimidating a job as might be assumed, and those of us who have some experience are always happy to offer advice or lend assistance. Seeing someone else is willing to take a stab at it, I am happy to cede the floor. I was a bit late at getting this going, but I think we can wait until later tomorrow to start the vote in case anyone else might have an interest, especially knowing I am not in the running. In the absence of any takers, I'll start a confirmation vote for Jinkies tomorrow (or at least, what constitutes tomorrow for me).

It is now time for the confirmation vote, as Jinkies is alone in signaling a desire to serve as chief commissioner. Please vote Aye, Nay, or Abstain on electing @Jinkies as the Chief Election Commissioner for a term ending on September 30, 2025. The vote will last for three days, or until all Election Commissioners have voted.

Aye

The 3 day voting period has ended. With a vote of 7 Aye, 0 Nay, 1 Abstain, Jinkies is elected as the next Chief Election Commissioner until September 30, 2025.
