Profile: Normads

The Normads are a species hailing from the Mardoc system on the planet Kondarik. The Normads were given the means to ahcive FTL travel by the Py'thala prior to the Alliance prohibition on the uplifting of pre-space flight species. The Normads took to life in space with stunning comfort, and left the harsh conditions Kondarik in the millions. Normads can now be found almost everywhere in Alliance Space and beyond living on and off worlds in nomadic family groups. This nomadic life style is reminiscent of the annual migratory periods the Normads underwent on Kondarik to escape the harsh winters. These groups, or Klahls as they are called by the Normads are led by an "Alpha Couple." The Patriarch and Matriach of the Klahl make few decisions, but when they speak, they speak law. The Normads that remained on Kondarik live under the control of the Normadian Primacy. The Primarch and his government have nominal control over the planet, and treat with the Alliance government on their behalf.

Anatomy & Physiology
The Normads are fur covered mammalian quadrupeds capable of walking on both two and four legs. Male Normads have an average height of 3.5 meters and weigh on average 275 kilograms. Female Normads are slightly smaller, standing on average at 3.1 meters tall and weighing on average 260 kilograms. The Normads are a levo-amino acid consuming life form, and are omnivorous on their home world. On Kondarik the Normads diet consisted mainly of the planet's plentiful aquatic species, and temperate fruits when the climate allowed. Normads have a double layer of fur that protects them from both liquids and the extreme cold of their home world. Additionally Normads have pronounced claws and canine teeth that allowed them to both fight for dominance and catch their food. The current lifespan of a "Space Normad" is 150 Alliance standard years, while the lifespan of Kondarik Normad is 112 years. This difference owes mainly to the harshness of planet and the volatility of its wildlife.

Profile: Py'thala

The Py'thala are a stunningly advanced race hailing from the jungle planet Marathpa. The Py'thala along with the Alanicians were the the first two Alliance species to achieve faster than light travel although which one was the first is a matter of spirited debate. First or not, the Py'thala spread across the stars at an astounding rate, creating a massive and generally cosmopolitan Empire. In their rapid growth, the Py'thala uplifted dozens of species including the Normads, and Hylians. By the time of first contact with Alanicia the Py'thala were engaged in brutal war with several species that had been uplifted before they were prepared. With the help of the Alanician Federation the Py'thala were able to survive the "Child's Rebellion" as they called it. Following their victory, both the Py'thala and the Alanicians agreed to what is called "The Edict." No species shall be uplifted unless to prevent total annihilation." Out of the victory also came the first iteration of the Alanician Alliance, between Alanicia, the Py'thala, and their allies. The Py'thala are currently organized into the Marathpan union. The union comprises the home world of Maraptha, and those worlds that chose to remain part of the Py'thalan sphere of influence after the Empire was peacefully disassembled following the Child's Rebellion.

Anatomy & Physiology

Py'thala are vaguely insectoid hexapods possessing four upper extremities used for dexterous tasks, and two lower extremities used for ambulation. Other notable features of the Py'thala include six eyes, and a hard outer carapace. It is suspected that all Py'thala possessed wings capable of flight in the distant past, however in the present if a Py'thala is born with wings they are almost always vestigial. In exceptionaly rare cases Py'thala have been born with wings capable of short term flight. These individuals are highly revered amongst Py'thalan culture to this day. The average Py'thalan male stands at 1.6 meters and 150 lbs, with female Py'thalans being slightly larger at an average of 1.9 meters tall and 190lbs.
