Local Man Arrested for Burning the Flag!

Kingston Alger, along with fifteen other protesters, was arrested by Scottsville police today for burning the flag and disturbing the peace. The protesters claim to have just been practicing their right to free speech and protest but the police claim that the protesters were causing "undue harm to the peace of the suburban neighborhood," when asked about this Alger said "I burned the flag of the Capitalist Imperialists and they arrest me! This is undue comrades!" The Emperor has not commented on the situation. Alger has been released on bail alongside the other protesters, they will be seen in court within the month. Burning the flag can have up to a year's worth of community service.

Arrandal Election Results

Transcribed from an Arrandian radio broadcast:
Following a hectic two months of campaigning the first elections since King Jadzia called the Waiczyn have concluded, in what many are calling the single most chaotic and unpredictable election in the history of Arrandal. With 150 seats up for grabs as well as the position of Waiczkanclerz, numerous new parties sprang up over night. And as the campaigning continued and new power blocs formed, the strongest rose to the top while those that couldn't make the cut disappeared as quickly as they appeared.

Now at last the votes are tallied and the election results are in. Let's start with one of the biggest surprises of the day.

Ten seats remain unfulfilled, which at first glance seems like a lot, but once you remember that huge parts of western Kranznikot and the northern Halkensfels remain isolated and self governing since the war, it becomes apparent those citizens saw no reason to go out and vote or even declare candidacy. These will be places that the new government will have to focus on in building up their infrastructure and reintegrating back into the nation.

As for the rest of the results it's pretty mixed, with a number of smaller parties grabbing up some seats while the two biggest parties got the most.

The winning party is the National Unity Party, with moderate left wing policies, taking 55 seats and getting their leader Czeslaw Rozalvic appointed as Waiczkanclerz.

The conservative Restoration Party won the second most number of seats with a total of 36, placing them as the opposition to the NUP.

Here's a breakdown of the rest of the seats and which parties won them:

-Workers United, a pro-communist party, won 15 seats.
-The Crown Party, pro-monarcists, won 10 seats.
-The Lycan Rights Party won 5 seats.
-The Children of Azulnais, a far right religious party, won 4 seats.
-The Crimson Dawn, a moderate centrist party, won 4 seats.
-Purity's Host, an extremely religious and fanatic party out of the Kamadan region, with strong anti-vampire and anti-werewolf beliefs, won 3 seats.
-The Root and Branch Party, the official party of the Silvic Dryads, won 3 seats.
-The National Socialists, a far right party with pro-Dominion and fascist ideologies, won 2 seats.

And finally the remaining 3 seats went to nonaffiliated candidates who were running without a party.

The first meeting of the restored Waiczyn will be held January 31, where the new Waiczkanclerz will be sworn in. The King has already congratulated Mr Rozalvic on his victory and the two are scheduled to meet with the Lords Paramount within the week.

Congratulations to all the elected, as well as all those who ran, in the first election since martial law was declared following the assassination of King Bajoras III.

Azulnais bless Arrandal. Azulnais bless the King.

OPINION: Queen Grace is leading Kanada down a path of authoritarianism and foreign meddling.
By: Norbert Hansel
January 17, 2018

Queen Grace III of Kanada, upon her recent ascent to the Kanadian throne, married Prince Marten of Maloria. This is where it began. Violent Sundeonian riots sprung up later in 2017, and were violently put down by the government, with assistance from Malorian military groups. This was the spark. From there, nearly all of the members of parliament for Sundeonian constituencies were removed, and the parliament grew ever smaller.

Now, what is left of the Kanadian government has decided to dismiss nearly all of the parliament. Now only 25 remain in total from both houses. How is this acceptable in a modern nation? This is blatant authoritarianism. Not to mention the fact that as of recently Prince Marten, who was not even of Kanadian royal lineage, has been allowed to make legal decisions at the same level as the Queen, as permitted by the expansive powers allowed to them by the Kanadian constitution.

This opens the door to discussion on what influenced this decision. Because it surely had to have come from the queen, even though the letter addressed to the MP's was from the Prime Minister. Not to mention, the fact that Kanada practices lèse-majesté means that sedition and betrayal of the crown, as expansive as that could be legally interpreted, means that these dismissed members of parliament could be facing charges for simple human rights.

Ultimately, Kanada seems to be borrowing tricks from Nystrom's playbook, and spicing it up with hints of foreign intervention, whether their people like it or not. If Kanada ventures deeper down this path, there could possibly be issues on the world stage and domestically. It is up to the people of Kanada to see if they want to keep going down the route of Nystrom and Helmer.

MULTINATIONAL AID ACT PASSED
Congress passes act authorizing aid shipments to Arrandal, Norsia, and Prydania

Congress meeting to discuss the Aid to Troubled States on Craviter Act.

PATALIPUTRA, SYRIXIAN EMPIRE- Today, after days of discussion and debate over the nature of its terms and eventual execution, the Aid to Troubled States on Craviter Act was passed today, and signed into law by the Emperor a few hours later. The sudden passage of the large and complex Act comes in the wake of a similar act being passed in Goyanes. Rohan Advani, the son of Speaker Rajnath Advani and Congressman for Ajmer North, said that, for many members of Congress, it was like a "wake-up call", and that it helped Congress get its act together.

The nations that will be offered aid are Arrandal, with its ongoing crisis in the wake of an attack on its capital, Bravondy; Prydania, still recovering from its brutal civil war and dealing with syndicalist holdouts; and Norsia, which itself is undergoing a civil war of its own. Rumors are also abound that the Imperial Government will be proposing, to the Phoenix Parliament, an act that would authorize the Union's member states to assist the three nations, especially Arrandal- which itself is a PU member state.

Public reception of the Act has been mostly positive, although opposition parties have criticized the bill as another "imperialist invasion of ailing, helpless nations" by the right-wing parties in Congress, especially the ruling Svatantrata Janata Party. However, many Imperials of Arrandalian descent in particular have taken to social media and voiced their disapproval at the opposition's remarks, calling the notion that Arrandal is "helpless", as one Fluttr user said, "offensive and untrue".

Senator Rebecca Arnold Backlash Over Fluttr Post!

Today on Fluttr Senator Rebecca Arnold of the Hesskin People's Party(HPP) made a post calling for the impeachment of the Redshirts Senator Kaelee Nahtee.

This post was met with backlash mainly due to the hashtag #FashBash which has been used by groups such as the "People's United of Hesskin" Which is famous for having kidnapped and killed redshirt party leaders in the 1970's. The HPP claims that the hashtag was used in a "naive" way and later Sen Arnold was recorded saying, "I apologize for my misuse of a hashtag I had thought was not harmful. But we must not let this stop us! We must impeach the fascist redshirts!" The Senator has already sent in the senate paperwork to start the impeachment process. There will be a vote on the matter by the Senate at the next meeting alongside the new tax reforms.

Tourists Arrested for Littering

qq3ryby.png

It was reported late yesterday that local Seta-based police forces have arrested several tourists for littering. Local news reports say that the tourists in question were leaving when an officer came by the area and saw the beachfront BBQ-site full of trash and leftover food. The officer politely asked for the tourists in question to please pick up after themselves, to which, quote, "They dismissively said they would and continued to walk away." The officer then began to arrest the individuals after calling for back-up. Two of individuals in question were later charged with minor offensives, up to and including attempting to drive under the influence. Another individual was charged with attempting to assault an officer. And the entire group was charged with minor misdemeanors in relation to the littering.

The police would not allow the individuals in question to give statements.

"These tourists... they come and they drive business," remarks local business owner Joshua Hei, "but to see them try to leave our beach like that; I hope they don't leave their own home like that." Joshua Hei owns one of several local food stores in the area. After looking over the security tapes, he recognized the individuals arrested for littering as buying the beer from one of his stores. "I hope this whole experience teaches them to respect our home better," he says. The local magistrate has sentenced the group to community service. The individual who attempted to assault the officer was also sentenced to a year in the local jail.

In the first official act of the restored Waiczyn, parliament has updated Arrandal's motto from 'Justice is Our Goal' (which was adopted by King Prusas IV) to a much more appropriate and succinct 'We Endure'. The new motto will demonstrate Arrandal's resolve to rebuild and move on from the wounds of the rebellions.

The Waiczyn also agreed to open up much of the state-owned farmland throughout Arrandal for homesteading with government aid packages going to those who qualify in a hope to help jumpstart Arrandal's limited agricultural production.

I have waited long enough to do this, should an emergency arise I have no doubt our standing force and allies will be able to handle it given the supplies and aid coming through. near the end of her address she ended on this statement to the soldiers themselves. "To the soldiers who obeyed the conscription through the war, and gave themselves involuntarily to the state in a time of desperation. I am deeply sorry for everything you have seen; felt and shared and that it took this long for your suffering to end.

Ladies and Gentlemen, go home, go home to your loved ones. If you don't have a home anymore hold tight, I am far from done!"

Turmoil cast from the Dorsettian Phoenix Union delegation is at the front of tonight's broadcast, as the entire delegation walked-out of a Parliament meeting meant to discuss the continuation of the Phoenix Continental Railway Agreement and left Syrixia to return home, with aides and staff members instructed to clean out the Dorsettian delegation's offices before returning home themselves. PU Representative Jean-Louis Bouthillier had this to say about the incident:
Jean-Louis Bouthillier:
We are tired of being held solely responsible for the slow response of the Phoenix Union to assist Arrandal following the attack on Bravondy, and no one can fault us for seeking the safety of our own citizens. It is the responsibility of individual nations to provide assistance to the best of their ability. It does not need to come from Phoenix Union. That arrogant pissant Markos is a fool! Shame on him and the bastards that raised him!
Following the delegation's unexpected return, the Regency by unanimous decision dissolved the delegation and called for new elections to be held in two weeks time, barring the entire previous delegation from being placed on the party lists. The Chamber of Law also again introduced and passed the National Sovereignty Act for the fourth time, triggering yet another ten-day countdown for Regency assent, which has yet to be fully decided.

Grand Duke Oyvind set out the administrative agenda of the government today, as he addressed the Varasætarrerad for the first of three times this year. Confirming the previously announced amalgamation of the numerous trade unions in Gotmark and reforms to the construction sector, the Grand Duke also set out an ambitious agenda that includes increasing funding the military and seeking a renegotiation of Geldkrieger funding to secure the future of the program.

In his 45 minute speech, the leader of Gotmark also announced:
  • The Government will maintain the current level of afforestation with the aim of increasing forest area to 78% in the next 5 years
  • A new scholarship for Environment Management students will be offered internationally, with particular focus to countries with war affected or ruined environments
  • The Foreign Affairs group will begin an outreach program working with the governments of the continent of Craviter focussing on trade relations and conservation
  • The Duchy Defense Force will be expanded in size, primarily in the naval sector with the purchase of a number of patrol boats yet to be decided
  • The completion of the Duke's ambitious "Total Broadband Coverage" pledge, with even the most remote areas having competitive broadband options
  • Privatisation of the tram and bus services in Gotmark's capital city of Knarvik
  • The redevelopment of Skive will continue with affordable housing making up half of all newly built homes.

The speech was met with a mixed reaction by both of the dominant factions in the Council of Deputies, with isolationationist leader Kaarlo Knutsson criticising the scholarship and outreach programs whilst Gösta Irjadottir queried the privatisation programs. Both sides voted to pass the agenda in a largely symbolic vote, with only two deputies - both from Knarvik - dissenting.

Good afternoon! I'm Nicolas Garnier, subbing in for Julia Rossmoyne, and thanks for joining us for tonight's edition of Norvalle News.

Clement Northway was elected as Calbourne District's Prime Minister last night, carrying 41.2% of the vote in a highly competitive special contest to name the district's first official Prime Minister following the district's agreement to join the the Principality. He replaces Acting Prime Minister Sarah Mason. In a short speech, the forty-eight-year-old Muriel Fields native pledged to promote unity with Norvalle District and peace, security, and absolute sovereignty for the nation at-large.[note]Greyed and crossed out parts of this post are now non-canon. Sorry.[/note]

The Regency today issued a decree to extend the Royal Assent phase for the National Sovereignty Act indefinitely, allowing additional time to decide to approve or reject the measure without the chamber needing to repeatedly submit it. The delay in granting assent reportedly is caused by Prime Minister Ellison, who is hoping that a whole new team of representatives to the Phoenix Union will be capable of restoring faith in the alliance and avoid the necessity of a withdrawal. While relations with the Malorian government are rumored by government observers to be considered a total loss, the government may be making a last-ditch effort to restore relations with the remaining members of the union. The recent appointment of Senior Advisor Marianne Covington, sister of the late Prince Stéphane, to the position of Ambassador to the Phoenix Union may be indicative of this apparent final chance. Lady Covington was recently instrumental in drafting the Calbourne Agreement, and some government employees we interviewed believe she may be the only person left with the capability to resolve the dispute. A spokesperson for Lady Covington says that though she will now be focusing her attention on Phoenix Union matters during Parliamentary sessions, nothing is outside of her purview within the Sil Dorsettian government. Lady Covington pledged to continue to advise the Regency on all matters whenever it is necessary.

That's all the news for today. This is Nicolas Garnier for Norvalle News, and have a good evening!

"Good morning Prydania. We begin with breaking news. King Tobias III, after conferring with Prime Minister William Aubyn of the Provisional Government, has called for elections for the national Parliament. This fulfills the King's promise to call for elections as soon as the government felt the nation was ready for such an undertaking, a promise he made shortly after his coronation."

"The King is reported to have thanked his Provisional cabinet, but urged that the time for Prydania to rejoin the family of democracies had come. The King, in a pre-recorded address to the nation, urged the electorate to put uncertainty aside and to embrace the opportunities an election will mean for the country. This will be the first election held in Prydania since 1999."

Thank you, Elvira. I'm here with Joseph a resident of Addington. What do you think about the government's new policy?

*camera pans to Joseph*

I believe the government is taking amazing measures to combat diseases and to promote Han Fulian descent babies. There have been mass rallies in the capital to support our Holy Queen and I think I can speak for the most of Han Fulians and say we fully support the actions taken by the government.

*camera pans back to David*

Thank you. If you would all like to join me in wishing our Holy Queen a thank you. Sing along with us at this Holy hour to show gratitude to our Queen.

In accordance to the constitution and her promise to the people of Norsia, Queen Alycia has called elections! two full years early! in a statement to the press she reasoned her actions.

"There is only so much a provisional government can do, there is only so much I can do. As I give this statement the NSDF is deploying throughout the realms to set up poll centers, and are double timing it on getting refuge centers set up for the homeless masses. I do not intend to rule as a despot. I will rule legit or not at all. however, the NSDF cannot do everything they need to do, we are stretched thin. and it is with that I call on the international community to aid us in our efforts."

And earlier before her speech provisional defense minister Colart stated that the state will be working on bringing its internal security up to snuff against espionage and sabotage, from within or from without. as well some new restrictions that will be going into full effect effective immediately.

"This Provisional Government does hereby found with the grace of Queen Alycia, form the NDIA, the National Defense Intelligence Agency. our first and last line of defense against internal and foreign espionage and sabotage. it is our hope they will employ the best of the best Norsia has to offer, as well as foreign citizens naturalized. and that they get the best equipment we can offer them. that they forever safeguard the Norsian nation and its people from the vice jaws of Terror."

Highton's new coat of arms approved

Highton has a new national coat of arms today, as the president has approved the design proposed by the legislature last month.

The design includes a crest with 7 stars at the top, representing the seven states of Highton, as well as five sections representing the regions of the nation. The rising red sun over the Phoenix Strait represents the Pobfenix region of the nation along the coast and features a design used on the state flag. The blue field with a yellow fimbriation is a symbol used to represent the North Highton region, and this design also features on the national flag. In the bottom left is an altered version of the Talanskaland and Reyterra flag– the Reyterra coronet has been removed and replaced by a red star. Left of this is a yellow field with a black wreath, symbols of the Aleman region in the southwest. Finally, the yellow peak at the bottom of the crest stands for the eastern regions, Cocoland and Hightonia. The national animal, the Coco Monkey, appears to be holding the crest on either side. Below is a banner with the national motto, "Unitas, Pax Libertas et Securitas" (United in Peace, Liberty, and Security).

THE END OF ANALOGUE
21 February 2006

After years of preparation, prominent Cimmerian broadcasters that were transmitting on analogue televisions made the switch to digital television on midnight of the 21st of February. The following is an announcement made by the Cimmerische Rund-Funkanstalt (Cimmerian Broadcasting Corporation) informing analogue viewers that they must switch to digital. After the national anthem plays at midnight, analogue TV sets would stop functioning a few seconds afterward.

"Coming up on CRF One, a story about a kid who tried to prove his innocence, after being framed as a juvenile delinquent. Then afterwards, we'll end it for tonight with the schedule for tomorrow and the national anthem, before we hand it over to the news and switch to sponsored, paid programming. Yes, that's probably dull, but what else is there?

But that's for digital viewers only, because the final stage in the switch-over to digital is about to get underway, and we've come to the end of the line for analogue television in Cimmeria. Unless you already have digital, or if you have cable or satellite, please switch to a digital service to continue watching CRF One. This is CRF One on analogue, and in a few moments, it and all the remaining analogue channels and services will cease broadcasting for ever. During the night, we'll be turning on the new transmitters to bring you content in high definition. This will mean that there'll be disruptions on freeview services during the night, and you may need to retune your signals in the morning.

If you or anyone you know needs help switching to digital, you can contact this number at 010-6251-3564. Our operators are standing by from 6:00 AM. Calls cost up to ?5 for most lanelines, and an connection line may apply, depending on where you live. Calls from mobile phones may cost considerably more. For more information, please visit our website at www.CRF.cim/digitalcimmeria.

Analogue television has seen many technological advances and additions since its inception. From black and white to 65 line colour, from the world's first television text system to MyCam stereo just to name a few. The move to digital television will allow technology to advance still further, providing new services. Tomorrow, CRF One will be available in high definition for freeview, satellite, and cable. The final stage of the switch-over to digital will not only mark another Cimmerian broadcasting landmark, it will mark a new era of television broadcasting. And so with that said, that really is it for analogue television in Cimmeria. As we speak, engineers are standing by to pull the plugs, as this becomes a fully digital Cimmeria. Please switch to a digital service to continue viewing CRF One. But from everyone here at the analogue CRF television service, goodnight, and goodbye to analogue television.”

On top of that the referendum to legitimize Queen Alycia, 'The Lily Queen' is also underway. by the end of the elections we will know if she stays, or if she has to go. But with her popularity and her fulfilled promises it looks promising for her to retain the throne.

these elections mark modern Norsia's brightest hour.

Between the hiss, squelch, and whine of radio waves bouncing off the ionosphere you make out the gruff voice of a DJ beaming in from a 50 kilowatt shortwave station outside Quarrovth, Myroria ----

The Llevis Andarith Radio Hour

1030khz AM (southern Myroria) 7pm
620khz AM (northern Myroria) 7pm
11840khz shortwave (east directional) 7pm local time
6020khz shortwave (west directional) 7pm local time

"... I mean, I could go on about this all day. It's bad enough that Myrorians have bowed to foreign pressure and allowed immigrants to not only go into the holiest sites of our religion, but to act as professional mourners. Our funerals are the most sacred part of our ancient culture and a bunch of cosmopolitan, makeup-wearing, miscegenating fools from Novrith City can't change that to suit their political agendas. These foreigners, aliens... they walk into the tombs of the oldest families in our country and beat their chest, wail, keen, tear their clothes... but they're not like us, folks! They will never understand the hardships our people went through!

"I heard of one professional mourner - a quote/unquote 'refugee' from McMasterdonia - who gets paid thousands of guilden per funeral to cry! Those people were killing us 300 years ago for trying to exercise our religion, and now they think they can come to our nation and do it themselves? It's a travesty and an insult to patriots like us! And now this very same mourner wants to start a union for people like her. She thinks she's not being paid enough?! Myrorian families - families, remember, that have been here for generations - should have to fork out even more money so she can put on a show at a wake and then go back home to her government-funded condo in the city? What's happening to this country sickens me, folks... it's a total disgrace to everything our fathers and grandfathers fought for. When my great-great-grandfather Llarin had to choose between fighting for our country's freedom from the Kianese or running away to live as an alien in some other country, he chose to give his life for the All-House Union. Saints bless him.

-----

"... If you're just joining us I'm on the phone with Neveran Moominroth, a seliferra[note]religious teacher[/note] from Oramyn's Plantation. Seliferra, you were just telling us about the history of professional mourning in Myroria."

"Yes, Llevis... the professional mourner, despite seeming like an institution that's been around as long as death, is actually quite new. As foreign sensibilities infiltrated Myroria at the turn of the last century, it became less and less acceptable for people to show the emotion at funerals that was once quite common. However, emotion was still upheld in traditional texts as being the wonderful and liberating thing it is. So professional mourners were hired who could provide that emotion in a way that was separate from the grieving family... in a way, it turned ancient tradition into a sort of play. The liberating and positive display of grief was turned into something to be viewed by others in a sterile way, something that I personally find quite objectionable. Many rural families who cannot afford professional mourners still honor their departed family members in the old ways."

"Seliferra, this is very interesting to me. Would you say this was connected to the outlawing of the Bread Rite[note]This footnote on the transcript has been expunged by the Committee for the Control of Apocrypha.[/note] by the government of 1905?"

"Absolutely, Llevis. The government of 1905, being unduly influenced by foreign ideas due to the Prince's marriage to an immigrant, found traditional mourning practice and the Bread Rite equally distasteful and harmful to development."

"Development according to whose terms?!"

Neveran chuckles. "That's an excellent question, Llevis."

[Que the intro]

"Good day to all those joining us for this KNC News hour at 12. I am your host Eva Folstad. The top story for today is the official opening of the twelfth power plant located on the outskirts of Turnoasa. It is the final of the nuclear power plants to be constructed and opened in the past fifteen years and also marks the end of the first phase for Yalkan’s Reliable Energy Effort Program, a program spearheaded by the former and now deceased minister of energy and fuels, Michael Becken.

The current Minister, Peter Borger, made a speech at the ribbon cutting ceremony this morning, remarking that this was a proud day for the carbon free future of Yalkan.

Despite these high hopes there has been much pushback against the program and the actual safety regarding the materials used in these plants and whether or not regulation is stringent enough to be operating so many of these facilities simultaneously.

As such there have been a myriad of protests to this regard, namely against the cost. This program has had several budget increases over the years and has racked up a cost of over two hundred billion dram so far and is projected to cost even more in maintenance in the future.

Staunch opponent of this program, Alfred Nordheim, a well known environmentalist and conservationist, has advocated for a more diverse energy sector with less 'Potential for destruction' as he puts it.

Even with such resistance the program is steaming ahead. All we know is that as Mr. Borger said during his speech, this is only the start of the future."

Fourteen Arrested in Raid

AMHARIA, FUNKADELIA - The Royal Police Force, Funkadelia's supreme law enforcement agency, flooded into Amharia late in the night yesterday as part of an apparent raid in the ground level of an apartment building in the city's downtown district. Nearby residents who spoke to FBC told us that the target of the raid is believed to be a Funkadelic Popular Front meeting place.

In response to an FBC inquiry, the spokesman for the Royal Police Force, Amari Getachew had this to say: "In the late hours of the day yesterday, we executed arrest warrants for violations of the Weapons and Firearms Edict of 2015. Fourteen were arrested and confiscated two dozen weapons. The Royal Police Force endeavors to ensure that Funkadelia's streets are kept safe for all residents and visitors."

The Funkadelic Popular Front's leaders, Deborha Kriros and Ezekias Tewolde were reached for comment, but did not return our request. This marks the third time in the past 8 months that the organization has been the target of RPF arrests, leaving many Funkadelians wondering as to the true intentions of the so-called Popular Front.

the NSDF to reorganize and consolidate

With the signed blessing of Konigin Alycia, the senate has passed the military ordnance resolution, resolution No.4, to mandate the reorganization and consolidation of the Norsian armed forces, to implement new doctrine and equipment. The NSDF to become a smaller elite and specialized force with the best equipment Norsia can obtain.

to achieve this, the number of reservists are to be downsized to a peacetime total of 65.500 reservists while the active number will stay within its 30.000 range as the nation stabilizes and the need for soldier peacekeepers dwindles. a major factor in the deliberations of the senate is the fact that Norsia with its allies protecting it from the north and west, does not need army garrisons throughout its territories, only on key borders; strategic zones and coastline. the resolutions implementation is being kicked off with the formal releasing of 4000 enlisted reservists. bringing the Commonwealths current reserve force to 170.000 by the end of April.

Coalition Government Disbands

Irreparable differences strike in the heart of the Ilian-Taveran Coalition tonight as the Union of Liberals and Greens the 3rd Largest Party in the Ilian Parliament has ordered its members along with its Constituent Parties in Itrea and Icetio to pull their official support for the Democratic March Governing Bloc and to dissolve the Confidence and Supply Agreement of 2016. Disputes started weeks ago regarding when the ULG was left out of the selection of Martin Hakkart the Taveris Representative to the Pan-Gothic Union and spilled over with the Foreign Director issuing a statement on the Plembobrian Situation over the objection by Liberal-Green Senators.

The move by the ULG has plunged the Coalition into a state of uncertainty leaving the Leagues of Itrea and Icetio without a Governing Majority and the Democratic March in the Ilian Senate with a reduced Majority. With the uncertain times and with no other path forward to forming a Majority Government in Itrea and Icetio, Parties from across the political spectrum have started to lobby the Prime Ministers of Itrea, Icetio, and Taveris to announce a Snap Elections. Representatives of the "Left-Wing" Communist League, "Right-Wing" Party for the Republic, and "Big-Tent" Non-Partisan Alliance have already lodged support for early elections.

While the Prime Ministers of the Sovereign States and the Premier of the Coalition have yet to make statements on the situation. Political analysts from across the spectrum have non-the-less weighted in and are speculating the betrayal of the ULG will lead the Socialist Union the largest political party in the Coalition and the current Governing Party to join the call and to officially schedule elections in the next few weeks.

After weeks of negotiations with the Empire of Maloria an agreement has been reached on a a Malorian naval base on the Argent Coast. Arrandal will lease three square kilometersof land north of Mystzpolst to the empire under a hundred year contract. The leased land will also include the old Arrandalian naval base which has been left abandoned since the Vampiric Rebellions.

While the new base will be under the complete administration of Maloria, Arrandalian ships will have full access to the base as well. The agreement will also include an officer trade program and the future construction of a joint naval academy where officers of both nations will be trained side by side.

The empire will also permanently station a cruiser, the HIM Wilhelmus, in the Oglindafin Bay to assist the Arrandalian Navy in patrols, especially as Arrandal moves to stamp out piracy along the Dangour River and the Crangaj bayous which have become a haven for criminal activity since the war.

This month's election for governor in the state of North Highton is set to take place next week and a close race is expected. Residents of the state will have the opportunity to select from three main candidates on the AV ballot- incumbent Benjamin Thorpe (C), Qol Toz (R), and Cynthia Ophiziechen (L). This weekend's polls show Thorpe leading with 40% of the popular vote, while 29% support Toz and 17% support Ophiziechen. 14% are undecided. Toz and Ophiziechen will need to rely on second choice votes if they have any chance of taking Thorpe's job, but a victory for Toz is not impossible. A poll conducted by the Highton City Herald shows Toz having a lead in Highton City and Lighton, but not in any other population centers. Ophiziechen has called for more transparency in the government and is a controversial figure since she leaked confidential information to the press while serving on the state legislature. Toz has run for governor three times and even ran for president once in 2008 but failed to win the Royal nomination. Her campaign has been based on improving income equality in North Highton, which could have a large impact on the nation since the capital city is located within the borders of the state. Incumbent Thorpe has run on an ad populum campaign, ringing Hightonian values throughout his speeches. Thorpe is expected to win, and although Toz has polled higher on first ballots, the wild card factor could be the city of Istago. Currently, Ophiziechen is polling at 38% there and if she can churn out enough votes to eliminate Toz in the early rounds, she could have an outside chance of winning.

April 24th, 2018
As the election draws nearer, Thorpe's lead grows smaller. Victory for Cynthia Ophiziechen is not impossible, says political scientist Xavier Muñoz. Ophizeichen has risen in the polls from 9% to 23%, extraordinarily taking a large percentage of the undecided voters from the Herald's April 20th poll. Thorpe's chances have significantly dropped thanks to an alleged which took place between him and Recht party leader Otto Heidl, reportedly discussing Heidi's run for governor later this year. The controversy of meeting with the far-right politician has alienated many conservative voters. As of right now, Qol Toz is probably the favorite to win the election, a surprise since the Royal party has traditionally not done well in the state. Toz has tried to paint herself as the "compromise candidate" in between the tea party conservative Thorpe and the liberal Ophiziechen. As it stands, she will likely win due to Thorpe's relationship with Heidl and Ophizeichen's calls for radical change, of which the people are likely not yet ready for. Ophizeichen would only win if she somehow managed to surpass Toz in first round ballots and win the instant runoffs. Toz should win if she does better than Ophizeichen and is not far behind Thorpe. Thorpe would probably win if he wins more than 40% of the ballot. Currently, Thorpe sits at 38%.

BEACONSFIELD, PRYDANIA - Former Syndicalist Party Director for Beaconsfield Charles Sonnensen was sentenced to life imprisonment with no opportunity for parole for his role in what Crown prosecutors called "organized pogroms" against the capital city's Shaddaist population during the years of the Syndicalist Republic.
Sonnensen was tasked with directing Syndicalist Secretary of Internal Affairs Jannik Leiftur's "Secular Directional Units" against the Shaddaist Prydanians of the capital as part of the Syndicalist Party's "People's War Against Religion."

The Court held that Sonnensen was responsible for the roughly 3,000 Shaddaist Prydanians killed in Beaconsfield and the burning down of the city's oldest Shaddaist Temple in what Crown lawyers claim "was a planned concentrated attack aimed at a vulnerable minority population."
Sonnensen appeared erratic during his testimony, first claiming that he had received no orders to single Shaddaists out in SDU raids. He would later say that "Shaddaism is inherently contrary to the will of the people" and that "Shaddaists who practice are not people at all, they are leeches."

Sonnensen remained silent during victim testimony and refused to answer questions regarding alleged orders signed by both Leiftur and himself specifying the closure of Shaddaist community centres and the arrests of Shaddaist religious leaders. He refused to give a statement after his sentencing.
Gadol* Ari Bohr went on record to say "justice has been served. A man who terrorized the Shaddaist population of this great city will pay for his crimes against his fellow man."

Crown lawyers have said they are confident this case will aid the government in their case against Jannik Leiftur, which is scheduled for two months from now.

Breaking News: The Grand Jury of the Kingdom of Nyhett has indicted Heidi Kallström, Modergen Terrorist, for 2,615 criminal offenses.
By: Ronald Altheveier
April 27, 2018

GOJANNESSTAD, NYHETT, GOYANES -- In what may be the first ever death penalty case in more than 15 years in Goyanes, the Grand Jury of Nyhett has indicted Heidi Kallström, the sole surviving terrorist of the May 2016 Modergen Attacks. The charges are: 2,615 counts of criminal offenses. 1 count of identity fraud, 1 count of conspiracy to commit violent crime, 2,147 counts of accomplice to an event which inflicted bodily harm, 312 counts of accomplice to murder, 150 counts of attempted murder, 1 count of unlawful manufacture of explosives, and one count for the unlawful production of sarin.

It was announced by the Attorney-General's Office of Nyhett that the trial is expected to commence in late October 2018. Nyhett Attorney-General Madam Sigrun Engelhorn, will be leading the prosecution team. Ms. Kallström's defense will be lead by Jannik Sjoll, a registered public defender.

Madam Engelhorn said to a GRK reporter after the indictment, "Today is a wonderful day for those who were injured, their relatives and friends, and the relatives and friends of those who died. We are one step closer to ensuring justice for not just those affected, but for all of Goyanes."

While the upper echelons of the national government did not make any official statements, Natalja Krømejer, a spokeswoman of the Socialist Front Party, stated that the Nyhettan prosecution and grand jury is "in league with Satan" and that "Grand Juries are nothing more than an intimidatory tactic used to suppress dissident thought".

Some legal analysts suggest that if Ms. Kallström does get the death sentence, this will lead to a political movement to reinstate more common usage of the death penalty. Wether or not this will be effective, is yet to be known.

More updates on this story will be released as information develops.

APRIL TERM, 2018

THE SUPREME COURT OF THE IMPERIAL GOYANEAN FEDERATION
HAS OPINED AND CLOSED THE FOLLOWING CASE UNDER ITS AUTHORITIES ESTABLISHED IN THE SUPREME LAW:

KONGERIKE NYHETT v. ALFRED Rs. HINMEIJER

PER CURIAM.
The Court granted certiorari in this case to decide whether, when the Government has obtained a warrant to shut down a malicious assembly (Legal Code 18.227), whether or not the operating party has to comply with the order, citing freedom of speech and assembly as defined in the Supreme Law (C2 & C3).

In November 2017, Alfred Rs. Hinmeijer (from hereon known as the defendant), organized a “Furry Convention” (from hereon known as “FurryCon”) in which members of the “furry” subculture could assemble. Citing 18.227, the Nyhettan Office of the Gojan Nasjonal Polizei obtained and executed a warrant to shut down FurryCon. Police seized several costumes and physical prints of anthropomorphic humans seemingly wearing fur and having distinctly animal-like (specifically dogs, cats, wolves, and foxes) features. The GNP arrested the defendant on grounds of possession of offensive material.

In December 2017, the defendant appealed his sentence, claiming his granted rights in the Supreme Law to freedom of assembly, and freedom of expression (SL: C2-C3). The court upheld in Nyhettan favor, and the defendant continually appealed to higher courts until a writ of certiorari was issued to have the case be heard at the highest level.

CONSIDERING the previous case upholding exceptions to SL: C2 and C3, Osanhalt v. Horton, where intentionally law breaking speech is not protected under the law, we find the production and dissemination of “Furry” imagery to be in violation of anti-obscene material laws, and the assembly of “FurryCons” or similar events to be an unlawful assembly that is used to promote an illegal act.

THEREFORE the court opines that this case is upheld in the favor of Nyhett, and sets precedent for all future cases relating to this matter.

THE KALGARY BULLETIN

Today in the news, we have something quite intriguing. From 1695 to 1838, for nearly a century and a half, the most superior unit within Kanadian lands was the Royal Snowcapped Mountaineers (RSM), trained for seemingly every type of combat, stretching from mountain peaks to the rubbled streets of the city. However, after funding problems and a prolonged peace period in the mid-1800's the unit was forced to retire from the military. But after the recent modernization and expansion of our military, the Queen and the Parliament has decided it is time to bring back the well-trained men (and now women) of the RSM. The best equipped and most patriotic soldiers of the Army, Navy, Air-Force, and the Marines have been handpicked to join this new elite fighting force.

From top to bottom: Army, Air Force, Navy/Marines.

More news on the fighting strength and numbers of the RSM will come soon, but for now, we shall move on. Last week, the Parliament filled to a full 100 representatives from across the nation. After some months of scarily balancing on just a few representatives, we've returned to our true government, with our voices being heard by the Queen herself.

LGL Chairman removed admin election fears

New polls out of Itrea have led to a vote of no confidence from the governing council of the Liberal-Green League, National Liberal and Green Conference (NLGC). The embattled Chairman had been dodging attempts for the last two weeks to remove her from the seat as her unilateral revocation of the party's supply agreement with the governing Democratic March bloc.

Isabelle Rosen failed to reach enough support in the NLGC to hold these off the attempted no-confidence vote after the Green Caucus leaked the LGL's internal polling showing faltering support in the key battleground regions of Avelire and Fleneli which have been Green Caucus bastions for nearly a decade. Pollsters around Itrea have warned that if the LGL can't find a way to rehabilitate their image that a landslide victory could be handed to the Democratic March, especially their more moderate wing the Socialist Union.

Needless to say the election season is heating up and the DemMar bloc is going on the attack.

SAFETY OF THE REVOLUTION IS THE FIRST CONCERN OF ALL
Earlier today Commissar Makarov of the Ministry of Defence announced that the Cogorian Guard will be recruiting a further 50,000 personnel. This is not states to be in response to any particular incident, but is a general security measure in order to alleviate the pressure on the units of the Border Guard and bring the Border Guard in under the umbrella of the Ministry of Defence rather than Ministry for Internal Affairs. With the current standing force of 180,000 personnel, the injection of 50,000 fresh troops and the 20,000 troops of the Border Guard will bring the forces of the Cogorian Guard to 250,000 troops standing.

Questions are still being raised in the local Party Councils as to the reserve status of the conscription classes of 2015, 2016 and 2017. While the old conscripted People's Army was dissolved in the wake of the recent War of Imperialist Aggression, letters have been received by many ex members requesting they report for a two week training and refresher course in June of this year. While the numbers have yet to be reported on by the relevant ministers, the number of reports coming in from the country side indicate that a significant percentage of those three years conscript classes have received these requests. However we are sure this most recent call up is in the best interest of the revolution.

In Foreign Affairs news, the Politburo has been in hot debate over the situation in Norsia. Minister Barishnikov and Senior Representative Wrong have argued heavily in favour of sending aid and construction battalions to Norsia, however Minister for Defence Joseph Humbert has argued that while he is in favour in theory of sending aid, he believes the risk to Cogorian personnel to be too great, pointing out that Malorian and Prydandian personnel present in the theatre ans the likelyhood of an imminent dispatch of Surixian personnel to the region with their staunch anti-proletariat views pose too much of a threat to the lives of any personnel which may be deployed. While Chairman Zhukov has yet to way in on the situation Chairman Rokotov has indicated that she would be more than willing to command any endeavours in the field personally, and proposes that she would most likely be the most preferable liaison should the decision go ahead.

Konigin Alycia overrules the Senates decision to abandon Ansben, declares it ILLEGAL
Konigin Alycia embraces the reins as Lady Marshal of Lusovo.

Shortly following publicized reports of huge groups of survivors holding out, intense firefights and urban warfare within the lost city of Ansben Konigin Alycia came out in a press conference wearing full military attire. She was followed by high ranking military staff, the Prime Minister, Minister of Internal Affairs and the Minister of Defense. The Queen then promptly began to give a firebrand speech. Her decisions in the conference going so far to make the newly formed senate already look like a house of fools.

"Ansben was failing before the war and its suffered the worst of it, it lost its glory centuries ago when we abandoned it as a hub of trade and culture. Now we have threatened to abandon it and its people entirely, leaving it a city of ruin squalor and anarchy.
Effective immediately, by my Royal prerogative as Konigin of Norsia; I overule the senates decision to abandon Ansben to a fate worse than death. Such an action was illegal within the system as the upper house nor I was ever consulted, rendering their resolution a farce.
By my decree we will leave no Norsian behind ever again. This disgrace is an injustice to Norsia itself-- It must be undone! This shame must never happen again, Never another Ansben!"

When Her Grace was bombarded with various questions, she only answered one.. What was planned to help Ansben? Her Grace followed with a second wave of fire.

"We did not end the war so we could leave each other behind, I am fully engaged in this effort to bring Ansben out of the ashes and back into its former glory with the rest of the Fatherland. The Warlords who have trapped the people in that city must fall, I have enlisted the aid of the Free Legion Private Military Company, the NSDF Peacekeepers, as well as the Humane Reclamation Initiative. I also plan to deplete my private fortune as Head of my House. as well as mobilizing my own White Guard, which as a soldier thereof means I am deploying to Ansben as well. I am fully committed to Ansben and her People and the Commonwealth as a whole. and I will sacrifice my blood, sweat and tears to see it rise."

Norvalle News Network

Good evening! I'm Julia Rossmoyne, and thanks for joining us for tonight's edition of Norvalle News.

Following a stunning display at the eleventh Phoenix Union parliamentary session, Lady Marianne Covington secured the Principality's freedom from collective defense obligations. By pushing through the Omnibus Collective Defense Consent Bill and opting out of the built-in Phoenix Union Collective Defense Agreement, the Principality is no longer obligated to participate in foreign wars abroad. The government issued a statement reminding the citizenry that though it cost the Principality guaranteed security from the Phoenix Union, Stella Signatory status from the Trillium Compact continues to guarantee the safety of the Principality without requiring troops to be sent to external conflicts. Following the vote and in the days that followed, Norvalle's streets were much calmer as protestors that continuously rallied against the Phoenix Union stayed home, having earned their desired result.

With the threat of soldiers being forced to be sent abroad neutralized, the National Sovereignty Act that would have removed the Principality from the Phoenix Union was finally struck down in a split regency vote. The Royal Foundations Party also indicated that they would not seek another attempt to cut ties with the P.U. The Chamber of Law did manage to pass one final measure against the P.U. with a bill to mandate that no flag other than that of the Sil Dorsettian flag be flown over all palaces and government buildings. The Law was given unanimous assent from the Regency, with a spokesperson for Princess Claidie stating "For what we've accomplished in the past few days, not being able to fly the P.U. flag is a trivial price to pay."

The Chamber of Law also saw a major shake-up following all of the Phoenix Union related legislation. The Party for Economic Growth (PEG) ended its support for the coalition government with the Royal Foundations Party (RFP), choosing instead to caucus with the Royal Solidarity Party (RSP). Combined with the defection of Hollie de Fries from RFP to PEG, Cicelia Blatherwick could no longer maintain enough support to remain Speaker, and RSP leader Isaac Castellan was selected as Speaker once again.

Finally, in government news, the family of Prime Minister Madeline Ellison announced today what many tabloid publications suspected... that Madeline is expecting her fourth child. The Prime Minister's spokesperson announced a due date of October 29th, also indicating that the Prime Minister will be taking time away from her duties to bond with her new baby following its birth. While all the political parties issued various statements congratulating the Prime Minister on the anticipated new addition to her family, some media pundits noted a correlation to the announcement of the Prime Minister's pregnancy to the switch in Speaker of the Chamber of Law, as the Speaker would assume the role of Prime Minister during Miss Ellison's maternity leave, leaving some to wonder if the Prime Minister played any role in either PEG's or de Fries's defection.

That's all the news for today. This is Julia Rossmoyne for Norvalle News, and have a good evening!
