Since the 1968 Revolution overthrew the military junta, the Kaiserreich Kannex has committed itself to the pursuit of the Kannexan people's happiness and freedom. Contemporary Kannexan politics consists of two major parties, the center-right Liberale Partei and the center-left Demokratische Partei. The Liberal Party has dominated national politics since the 70s.

I, Kanzler Hans Kreutzer, swear to promote the ideals of Frieden, Freiheit, und Fortschritt among the other nations of the North Pacific and beyond. By joining the Democratic Union, we understand our role to the region, and will act in such a way that will only benefit its future. We vow to stomp out the seeds of evil that only serve to restrict the values that the North Pacific treasures, and will weed out these seeds in the hope that one day our proud virtues can grow prosperously.

The government of Dalies is interested in the membership of Kannex, but would like to see the civil and political rights numbers of the nation. Once these come and if they are favorable, the government of Dalies will support Kannex's admission into the DU.

Political Freedoms: Superb

The freedom of expression and transmission of data is held inviolable. His Majesty the Kaiser guaranteed these freedoms to the Kannexan people in the 1969 constitution, which has lasted until today. The prospering of two democratic parties is the result of the Empire's struggle for the right of the people to be heard. However, indecency and obscenity laws are still enforced to protect the morality of children; pornography is forbidden on television and the internet. Hate speech is also illegal. The right to peaceful assembly has been respected since the 1968 Revolution toppled the regime of General Vantas.

The Empire has undertaken many advances in its fight against racism. The majority of the Empire is of mixed blood (Mestize), including His Majesty the Kaiser himself. While there still exists unofficial discrimination against people of darker skin color and against Native Kannexans in Kannexan society, the Imperial Government has undertaken several steps to ensure that the civil rights of all the Kaiser's subjects are respected. Income equality is a problem that the Empire is tackling.
 
The government of Dalies supports Kannex's admission into the Democratic Union. We are appreciative of large and important steps Kannex has taken to make sure the people are heard and the fight against racism.
 
The Syrixian Committee of Democratic Union Application Acceptances has, with an overwhelming majority, approved the application of the Kannexan Reich.
