We in the British Isles are saddened to announce that the former ZRH William of Gloucester, Heir of the Realm, resigned from the position after realizing that ze could not continue to serve in BI due to personal reasons. There was a brief period of transition and debate among members of the House of Norfolk, who assumed that the title would pass to His Grace Daniel, the Duke of St. Albans, but, in a surprising turn of events, Daniel's husband, the newly-made Duke of Northumberland Richard North-Norfolk, was named Heir of the Realm, and invested formally as Prince of Wales on 27 July.

Congratulations to the new Prince of Wales on being risen to such great heights!

Prime Minister Elected and Resigns, Another PM Elected

There was a whirlwind in parliament in the last week. Mason Absalon, formerly an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court and member of the House of Lords, was selected Prime Minister despite not being a member of the majority party.

This caused a lot of debate about the divide in the region. Prime Minister Absalon unveiled his cabinet and instructed Home Secretary Charles Kenny to begin work on a Fall Festival, but resigned on 30 July after the House of Lords began a Motion of No Confidence, which would have sent the region into another General Election had it passed both Houses of Parliament.

Mr. Absalon then resigned his citizenship, forcing yet another by-election and putting the House of Commons up to the job of selecting his replacement. Charles Kenny went on the offensive early, facing off against Sinn Fein Party Leader William Bowes-Lyon, but lost out in the end.

Prime Minister William Bowes-Lyon unveiled his cabinet soon after being selected Prime Minister. The cabinet is as follows:

Deputy Prime Minister: Jonewest, Viscount West
Home Secretary: Charles Kenny
Culture Secretary: Anthony D. Powell
Foreign Secretary: Niklaus Mikaelson, Marquess of Bath
Defence Secretary: Zenny, Baroness of Ludgate

and then, at the PM's direction, King John II gave a speech to the House of Lords outlining Prime Minister Bowes-Lyon's ideas for the term, which included finding a new Associate Justice, an Education Act, mass recruitment, cultural events, and much more

The Royal British Isles Armed Forces, under the leadership of Baroness Zenny Anumia, have begun to work diligently assisting BI's allies UK and the Kingdom of Great Britain in recapturing their territories of Elesia and Kingdom of Britain, which have returned to KGB and UK's protection. We sure hope to see more from the RBIAF around!

Parliament Passes New Laws!

The-Houses-of-Parliament--002.jpg

In the early part of this, the 19th Parliament of the British Isles, we have seen many new laws being passed. The WA Act of 2014 has changed the way delegates are elected, making it a much more regular occurrence, while last term a Constitutional Amendment in the final days of the 18th parliament will make it legal, pending a vote, for Associate Justices to serve in positions other than the court.

At the moment, Parliament is also debating the Election Reform Act of 2014, which will establish exactly what constitutes a majority in the House of Commons, the Campaign Regulations Act, which, as its name implies, will change the way that Campaign threads are moderated, as well as the Joint Session Procedures Act of 2014, which will give precise timetables in regards to how a Joint Session of Parliament is conducted.

Festivals, Contests, and Fun, Oh My!

Big-Ben-Fireworks.jpg

The new government's commitment to BI's culture was emphasised when the new Culture Secretary, Anthony Powell (an experienced candidate, appointed from the BBC UK, where he is Chief Correspondent), was instructed by the new Prime Minister William Bowes-Lyon to begin work on not one but two BI Summer Festivals. That's right - your favourite region is having two whole glorious festivals, to which you are (excitedly!) invited. The first has been scheduled for 23-24 August, and preparations are well underway. The planners have promised on top of all the 'bog standard' royal speeches and ceaseless spamming, a inter regional spam competition, and a possible writing contest judged by the Prince of Wales, and much, much more! Also, a State Visit from the Royal Family of the Kingdom of Great Britain will take place in the British Isles on the 13th of August! The fun and games are open to all, and we've even had a special cultural visa masking made, so remember to save the dates!

A lot's happening in BI these days, and we'd be happy to see you around the region!

Thank you for the update.
It is a very engaging, especially with the pictures.
