TNPU?

I know that we decided to close the official TNP University, but I am interested in starting a private university based on the previous TNPU, but reformed to actually work this time! As some may remember, I put a lot of work into the last University and now that I'm back I would like to do the same. I would run it independently of the government, so it would not require any more 'red tape' but I do hope that people would be interested in the idea, either as being students or as teachers.

So is anyone interested?

Also (next two questions directed to administrators), if this were to pass could I have a small section of the forum to run it on?

And finally, as I'm planning this, could I have access to the posts I and others made when the last university was open? I couldn't find them in the general archive and though the new format will be a little different I might as well make us of some of the work I did last time.

hey, if u can get it active...by all means. It is private so I don't believe u need legislation. I am sure the Admins would give you a subforum to run it. A large forum like the last one however...I would not suggest.

Good luck!

I'd be happy to teach classes in regards to technology...Cell Phones...PC's Macs, etc.

Thanks! I don't plan on having a large forum, only one section would be needed (Like this forum, "Nationstates Discussions")

I realized I can't be in the WA because I'm on a shared network all the time now (university!), so this is what I will devote my time and effort to.

One of the problems in the last one was the difficulty of organizing information since a forum isn't exactly made to accommodate a university environment. I'll be running part of the university then on my server with a script that can organize grades, exams, etc.

Also, the new name will be "University of The North Pacific" (UTNP)

I recommend dumping information on the Wiki.

I'm ready to grant uni.thenorthpacific.org or a similar domain for your script.

I think I'll use a combination of the both. Some information can be on the wiki, but the script will be used for the main management of grades, etc. Thanks for the offer on the domain. I have a domain I might use already. I'll work on setting things up this week.

Anyway I can have access to the old TNPU forum?

Ator, the old University subforum is in archives, but it was switched to a mode where only admin and global mods could see it. I'll arrange for you to have moderator status to thoise srchives. The intent of Law 25 was to make the Universitynon-governmental, I would suggest you have some system for back-up for those times you may not be available.

My only other piece of advise is to scale back what was initially attempted. I think it tried too much, too xoon, and made it difficult to iron our the bugs in the process before expanding.

Let me know once you have a idea of how you wanbt to organize a subforum here.

Thanks. I will scale back this time, and try especially to take time in setting everything up first. Before classes even begin things will be planned out much better than last time. Fewer classes will be offered each semester, but they will be better taught and organized.

For the subforum, any category appropriate on the forum is fine. No other subforums within it are necessary. It should be open so anyone can post. It could be called "University of TNP"

The University is nearly done!! Preview the system here: http://s182867369.onlinehome.us/utnp/index.php

Hopefully I'll get a shorter URL (Eluvatar, I'll take you up on that offer for uni.thenorthpacific.org).

If you look at the Degree Requirements you'll get an idea as to how the university is set up. I'm not sure how long semesters are yet, or even if there will be semesters.

We need teachers though. Eluvatar can you teach The North Pacific Constitution 1? Anyone else, check the Degree Requirements for AoNS classes. Those are the ones we need teachers for.

Also, the content of each class will be set up before the class opens. So once you start the class, teachers don't have to worry about being late to post content, and students don't have to worry about not receiving assignments, etc. All the exams, lessons, and assignments can be given through the interface at the URL I posted.

I've asked the administration to put a forum as a redirect link to the URL and another as an actual office sub-forum here at z13 (though the actual University will be managed at the URL I posted).

Questions, comments, care to teach a class?
