I have just come to a terrible realization.

I was examining the brief from Joshua, and decided to look at the copy of the constitution on the wiki: http://wiki.thenorthpacific.org/wiki/Constitution

I examined the relevant article and found:

# Candidates for these elected officials must be members of the Assembly before nominations begin.

I was terribly surprised, checked for vandalism and found none. I then proceeded to check the last major amendment vote: http://z13.invisionfree.com/TNP/index.php?showtopic=4407

And indeed that amendment did remove the 30 days part from that clause.

I can recall no further amendments to the constitution since that amendment, and am now horrified to find that the text of the Constitution on this forum is inconsistent with the passed amendment. I ask the Court to review this matter urgently.

EDIT: I suck.

Time to fix the wiki.

:duh:

Well at least we can say it was quite a busy start to our new terms in office!

Eluvatar...was that some carefully contrived scheme to show up the true nature of all TNP officials when under pressure?

You sure, Elu?

As I read it, the amendment still states:
7. Candidates for these elected positions must be members of the Assembly for 30 days before nominations begin.

How come the wiki constitution leaves out the 30 day bit if the amendment still has it in?

On second thoughts, maybe it's best to just accept it as it is and not question it at all.

It appears that the wiki change to the Constitution page was based on my wiki draft of the amendment which, for whatever reason, omitted the 30 days which were in my actual proposal. I fail.

ELuvatar, now just what are you asking the Court to do?

Once that is cleared up, then the request will be noted, and interested parties will be given a chance to make submissions with the request that applicable provisions of the Bill of Rights, the Constitution and the Legal Code be provided and quoted.

Once the issue is clarified, then I will botify the Associate Justices.

Assuming there is something here to determine, this proceeding will probably be handled with the request already submitted by Joshua.

Elu was going off of the Constitution on wiki, and noted on there that the 30 day requirement was absent. And that would have made this whole thing a non-issue. But, that omission of the 30 day requirement from the wiki Constitution was an error.

So, we go back to the request for a court ruling that I posted.

The official text of the Bill of Rights, Constitution and Legal Code are posted here at z13, and not at wiki. In addition, the threads of the voting and discussion are also here at z13, usually, expanding a search to "the beginning" in the appropriate subforum will bring up the needed threads.

Thread closed.
