This is a spontaneous new initiative that I thought of maybe fifteen minutes ago. Project Blue. This place is supposed to be a think tank and policy discussion forum. I am interested in hearing concrete, good-faith and substantiated thoughts on what the government is doing and the direction our region is and has been heading in (for the past few years or so or just this administration).

If you have ideas for a new project or just want to vent your frustrations with the government, this is the place to be. Freedom of speech shall be encouraged by the government, so that's what we're doing. Feel free to explain why you think the government should do something differently, or instead let us know that we're doing well (and explain how). That latter is more so for our morale, which is also important.

No experience required! Just give your thoughts so the government knows what the citizenry is looking for.

TNP is not a united region. I don't mean in political terms - political disagreements happen and that's what we're about as a region - but as a community, we're not a united region. We are, by my count, three, maybe four distinct communities. RP, TNP Gen discord, the RMB and maybe this forum if this forum still has a community. And there's never really anything that might bring us all together. Cards is niche. RP is niche. Theme Thursday is niche and only on discord. Polls are only in-game. RBR is a discord game we only do with other regions/teams. Our cultural efforts revolve around low effort once a week events (not a bad descriptor, as a note! low effort culture things are absolutely necessary to tick us over) and the in-game NS events like N-Day that increasingly many of us don't play.

TNP used to have its own events for its own citizens and residents and they helped build more of a sense of a community than I feel like we've got now. And we could do more, I think, to bring people together, with some bigger events that would hopefully get people enthused and involved.

Edit: also thank you for posting this topic, it's an excellent idea.

I feel like TNP’s government is slow and we should also do task in the forums.

Like for Integration, we can do most things on the forums. This can be said for the same as Communications, WA Affairs, and Foreign Affairs along with Military Affairs.

Like some people parents won’t let the kid get discord. Or maybe they won’t use discord because of their Face ID thing coming in the future (hopefully not). Or maybe they lost access to their discord.

Thank you for listening to my rant

Polls only being in game. Back in the day there were fun RMB polls for "official dish of TNP" ect. Type things. I tried to get those officially codified under the same vein as flags, seals, holidays, as officially recognized canon of TNP. And it never gained traction. In the vein of the United States, different states have codified in law and adopted through their legislation, official foods, animals, flowers. Songs ect. As culturally relevant.

I think if some similar polling ever happened like picking the modern day official dish of TNP. (At the time it was bacon mac & cheese btw, I found my old forum posts)..I think it would be neat and add to the cultural flavor of the region if things like that could be considered being adopted as official canon.

In my day the forum was more active and there were areas of the forum where those executive offices could post their own updates and information and garner general support from citizens.

Do you mind elaborating here? I'm actually very curious what in particular you're thinking of so I could use that as inspiration of some sort. We've already come up with some ideas for Discord-based events that are hopefully more engaging and fun than theme thursdays, but nothing as ambitious as you describe.

Thanks for starting this discussion, it’s a great idea.

I think one problem is that TNP relies too much on Discord. It’s a useful platform, but not everyone can access it. In some countries it is restricted, and some people just don’t use it. For example, Discord is banned in my country (Türkiye).

Because of this, forums and in game tools should be used more. They are available to everyone and should not feel secondary.

I think there used to be a badge system on the forum. There aren't many right now. I think we should increase the number of badges. We should encourage forum use.

Here's a good place to start, more recently I suggested a cards tournament bracket that eventually became the Card Classic over in TRR. We could easily re-steal the idea I stole from myself if we wanted to do it here. We could also bring back A Message in a Bottle - and I'm sure there's more in the Culture HQ archives if people has a backread there.

Doing something like a forum festival like some that were linked there, I think would be really fun, and from experience in other regions, can be really easy to arrange/set up.

I feel like TNP Forums and Discord kinda share the same purpose from what I have seen, just that one has more executive government actions than the other.

I propose potentially merging the Discord functions of TNP into the forums for a more united TNP structure.

This is great food for thought. I'll do my best to explore the viability of these ideas. Thanks MJ!

For starts, I would wish for less dependency on discord. I think that discord pretty much separates TNP into 3, maybe 4 sectors. I feel like it would be beneficial to merge discord into the forums (or, push comes to shove, vice versa, albeit I would definitely not prefer this. A more unified TNP would be great, and I feel like this is a reasonable way to help achieve this. (As mentioned before, more culture events would also be great, and would probably help with this). I do realize that this is much easier said than done, though.

I mean you can’t do some stuff on the forums like doing most of culture, recruiting, and other stuff. You can still do stuff on the forums and gameside
