The Security Council has nominated @Halsoni (Halsoni) for a seat on the Security Council. The vote for this application was 9 Ayes, 0 Nays, 0 abstentions, 0 not present.

The Chair now presents this application to the Regional Assembly for its consideration.

The Security Council's statement in support of the nominee:
The Security Council has chosen to support Halsoni's application to the Security Council. Halsoni, colloquially known as Ruben, has demonstrated his passion and desire to see The North Pacific succeed through his exemplary public service, through his work as Minister of Communications, Vice Delegate, Chief of Staff, and, more recently, as the Acting Delegate. The region has also shown faith in his ability through his elections as Vice Delegate, and more recently as Delegate. We feel that Ruben's energy and commitment to the region bring fresh air to the Security Council. We've enjoyed a good working relationship with him and would like to welcome him into our ranks.

This will be the motion to be voted on:
Motion:
The Regional Assembly confirms the nomination of Halsoni to the Security Council.

I'm not sure I love the idea of the incumbent delegate joining the SC during his term... but there's no real argument against his qualifications, so I'll be voting for this.

Seems like this thread has been a bit quiet. For the record, I'm more than willing to answer any questions regarding my experience, qualifications or past on NS.

I’m not sure if I’m comfortable with a current delegate serving as a security councillor concurrently. The potential for abuse seems too great a risk, even if the likelihood of it actually occurring is low.

How could I abuse my position as Security Councillor in a way that I can’t already as Delegate? These takes, while valid in their own way, are based on precedent more so than anything concrete that has happened in recent years. We’ve had Delegates who’ve concurrently served on the Security Council, Chipoli and Pallaith are good examples of this, so I’m very curious how that’s not a problem but this is.

If this was a real concern for the Security Council, my application wouldn’t have been unanimously passed by them.
